The purpose of the cash budget is to make it possible to measure the company's financial balance every month during the forecast period. Even if the temporary income statement is profitable, it may indeed be that the cash flow is negative in certain periods, which is problematic. Therefore, today people try to increase the legal value of the principle of balance.

Get to the Root of the Problem One day I got a phone call from a woman named Tracy who had a lot of crazy situations going on in her life. She told me, “I’m a Bible-believing Christian. I pray, speak the Word, know how to rebuke the devil and take my authority. But lately it seems like everything in my life is going wrong!” She told me her car had broken down, then her dishwasher, and she’d been demoted at work. Even after getting a consolidation loan she was still in debt, she’d gotten sick repeatedly, and several people in her life were acting out. There was just a lot going on, and none of it good! Now, sometimes stuff just happens and life deals us a lot of garbage at once. But I’d just happened to teach forgiveness in a recent class, and it jumped up in my spirit to ask her about it. “Tracy, is there a chance you’re harboring unforgiveness in your heart against anyone? Has anything happened to you that caused hurt?” I told her a few stories and verses, just to see if anything rang a bell with her. After listening, Tracy said, “Oh my gosh, you’re right!” She realized she’d been holding onto hurt from a recent altercation, and it was wreaking havoc in her life. We prayed together to forgive that person, and several weeks later she called back to report that every problem had been resolved. Wow! Who knew that harboring unforgiveness could be the root of so many other issues? Sometimes the devil is so sneaky! But we can outsmart him. Second Corinthians 1:10-11 says, Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive…lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” I’m thankful that Tracy was teachable and quick to forgive when God revealed the problem to her. Maybe you’re like Tracy, and a lot of things are going wrong. Or maybe you’ve been believing for something for a long time and haven’t seen results. There could be different reasons, but why not just pray and as God, “Am I harboring unforgiveness against anyone?” If you are, He’ll tell you. Then make it quick, and forgive them! You may be surprised by how fast God turns things around for you. He’s always ready to help us when we turn to him. (at Scarborough, Toronto)

Bajan Newscap 6/15/2017
Good Morning #realdreamchasers. Here is your daily news cap for Thursday 15th June 2017. Remember you can read full articles via Barbados Today (BT), or by purchasing a Daily Nation Newspaper (DN).
Tumblr media
CHRIS STANDS FIRM – Minister Of Finance Chris Sinckler is pressing on with the implementation of his controversial austerity measures. He said yesterday, as he responded to fierce criticism of his May 30 Financial Statement And Budgetary Proposals, that all he had heard so far was “chatter” but no viable alternatives. The minister was speaking at Government Headquarters after signing an agreement for a US$34 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank for energy projects. He said his recent Budget was an effort to fix major problems, some of which he “came and found”. (BT)
STOP STUBBORN RESISTANCE TO IMF, GOVERNMENT TOLD – The Freundel Stuart administration is again being advised to rethink its obdurate position on International Monetary Fund (IMF) support for the stuttering economy. Adamant that increased taxes were not the way to emerge from a recession, independent senators Professor Sir Henry Fraser and John Watson today insisted that Barbados had nothing to lose by turning to the Washington-based financial body for help. Similar advice has been proffered by leading economists, including former Prime Minister Owen Arthur, but has been stoutly rejected by the administration. Notwithstanding, the two senators repeated the recommendation while speaking during the post-lunch debate on a resolution to raises the overdraft limit to $4.75 billion. Watson said Barbados urgently needed to consolidate its debt and the IMF had just the solution the country needed. However, Sinckler had brushed aside the IMF recommendation, reiterating that there was no need for a “panicky resort” to the lending institution. He remains adamant that even if Government were to resort to the IMF it would take six to nine months to initiate and conclude the process for a programme tailored to suit the circumstances Barbados currently faces. Senators Watson and Fraser however made it clear that if Barbados were to go the IMF route, devaluation of the Barbados dollar and harsh measures on citizens must be off the table from the outset. (BT)
MORE FALLOUT – Economist Jeremy Stephen has poured further cold water on Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler’s recent Budget, saying it had not taken into consideration the serious threat posed by de-risking to the very survival of the vital international business sector. Among the measures announced by Sinckler in his March 30 Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals was a controversial two per cent levy on all foreign exchange transactions. Stephen observed that the levy was due to take effect here on July 1 but the process for implementation had not yet been spelt out by Government. (BT)
LASHLEY SUPPORTS COMPULSORY INSURANCE INSURANCE – Minister of Housing Michael Lashley would be in full support of a compulsory home insurance scheme in Barbados. Lashley, who now holds the Transport and Works portfolio, told his colleagues in Parliament Tuesday that there needs to be a concerted effort to educate Barbadians on the importance of insuring their homes, particularly given that tremendous pressure is put on the Ministry of Social Care when people are displaced by fire or, as can happen during the hurricane season, storms damage their homes. Lashley made the comments in his contribution to debate on a resolution to acquire the site of the old District ‘E’ Police Station in Station Hill, St Peter and vest it in the National Housing Corporation (NHC) for housing development. He also addressed the issue of illegal extensions on NHC units. Citing statistics to demonstrate that officials at the Government agency were aware of those unapproved extensions, Lashley said: “Lammings Housing Area in St Joseph has four illegal extensions; the Ivy Housing Area has 31 illegal extensions; Haynesville in St James has 67 illegal extensions; Bonnett’s in Brittons Hill has 39; Deacons Farm has 132; Eden Lodge has 81; Ferniehurst has 49; Golden Acres in St Peter has 20; Grazettes has 113 and Pinelands has 299.” However, he pointed out that in some cases, the extensions were made to alleviate cramped conditions that result from a family getting larger. In some other instances, Lashley said, enterprising tenants used extensions to set up small businesses to bring in income. He therefore urged officials to treat with these cases humanely and sensitively. (BT)
BIGGER AIRPORT TO HANDLE HEAVIER TRAFFIC – Barbados is getting its international airport in top shape in anticipation of increased travel to the Caribbean that has been predicted by International Air Transport Association (IATA). Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy said Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) would be expanded and enhanced to handle the expected business in light of IATA’s forecast that demand for air travel to and from the region would double over the next 20 years, with anticipated growth from 43 million passengers in 2015 to 86 million in 2035.  Sealy was speaking on Tuesday night at the tenth anniversary awards ceremony for the private Airlines Executive Lounge at the airport. He praised the Airlines Association for investing in the lounge and said it was recognised “as one of the most comfortable and spacious environments of its nature to be found anywhere in the region”. (DN)
BROWNE’S BEACH WILL BE VIRGIN DEPARTURE - Copacabana Beach Club on Bay Street, St Michael, will be transformed next year into what the British transatlantic tour operator Virgin Holidays calls the world’s first departure beach. So, instead of spending the time after checking in at the confines of the airport departure lounge, tourists can instead have a good Bajan lime at Browne’s Beach. It is the latest tourism development along the Bay Street seafront, and follows the Hyatt Centric hotel, which has generated controversy partly because it will be 15 storeys high. The site of the departure beach lounge will be redeveloped and feature a range of exclusive amenities for visitors on the last day of their stay. (DN)
MOUNT GAY’S VILLAGE FACELIFT – MANAGEMENT AND STAFF of Mount Gay Distilleries continued work on the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Campaign by sprucing up and beautifying the Mount Gay Village in St Lucy. In February on the 314th anniversary of the brand, the company launched its drive to end the use of styrofoam products with a ban on containers for food and beverages on its premises. Managing director, Raphael Grisoni, said the recent activity in St Lucy was an extension of the social and environmental work the company has done over the years. (DN)
18-MONTH WAIT FOR WORK TO BE SIGNED OFF – For the want of a signature, the historic Single Officers Mess is slipping further into a dilapidated state. And that signature, said vice-president of the Barbados Garrison Historical Consortium, Peter Stevens, has been pending for about 18 months. The Single Officers Mess is that building at the rear of Graydon Sealy Secondary School. The 1850 historic building where single British officers went to recreate, gained notoriety when, following damage to its asbestos roof in 2010 by Tropical Storm Tomas, teachers and ancillary staff expressed concern about the air quality and their health, with teachers even staying away from the school. (DN)
DRY TAPS IN THE SOUTH – Businesses on THE South Coast spent most of yesterday dealing with dry taps for the fourth day running while the island was drenched by a tropical wave. Since Sunday, there has been low water pressure or outages between Dalkeith Hill, St Michael, and Scarborough, near Oistins, Christ Church, as the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) continues looking into what exactly is causing the water issues and trying to fix it. For many businesses in the affected areas, that discovery and fix can’t come soon enough. At Sugar Bay Barbados hotel in Hastings, director Morgan Seale told the DAILY NATION the water shortage was seriously affecting the four-star premium all-inclusive resort. (DN)
BARL LOOKING TO BUSHY PARK RETURN – The Barbados Auto Racing League (BARL) may yet get that green light. A return to Bushy Park could be right around the corner for local motorsport’s circuit racing club, as BARL is hoping to stage a joint event with the Barbados Association of Dragsters and Drifters later this year. BARL chairman Stefan Hinds broke the news yesterday after the club hasn’t been able to use Bushy Park since the start of its major redevelopment four years ago. “I still have to meet with Bushy Park and BADD at the end of this month so it is still in its infancy stages, but the intention right now is to try and do an event with our sister club,” Hinds said. (DN)
HAYNES ADVANCES TO SEMIS - Last year’s losing finalist Abigail Haynes maintained hopes of redemption by moving into the semi-finals of the 2017 Touch of Class Women’s Road Tennis Tournament when the quarter-finals were staged at the Deighton “Pa” Roach Tennis Facility, Bush Hall, on Tuesday night. Displaying focus and shot control, Haynes overcame a tough effort from the tall Estherphyne Holder 21-18, 21-12. Both players seemed evenly matched with the first game being locked up to 14. Haynes broke away 18-14 but struggled to deliver the finishing punch as Holder showed her form in challenging right to the line. After Haynes edged home in that first game, Holder seemed taxed as she committed numerous attacking errors to face the possibility of a sow at 6-15. However, she escaped that danger before losing in straight games to allow Haynes to face the smoking hot Rachel Smith in last night’s semis. (DN)
WORRELL GETS SHOT AT PAN AM GAMES – AARON WORRELL has crossed another hurdle in his athletics journey. While competing at the NGC/ NAAA Junior Championships in Trinidad and Tobago, the 19-year-old CARIFTA gold medallist qualified for the Pan American Juniors Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru. He told NATION SPORT he was pleased to have qualified for the international event. “The Pan American Games is a very large event, it isn’t a regional event like CARIFTA and to be able to compete at an international event against the best in the world, and not just the Caribbean, is great,” he said. (DN)
A real helping hand – Just over a month ago, he was down on his luck. Homeless and sickly, he was living under a tree “in terrible conditions” at an area in Cave Land, St Philip. But yesterday, visually impaired Rawle Browne was like a new man during the official reopening of the Lancaster House transitional home in St James. He was in a joyous mood as he expressed gratitude to all those who not only came to his assistance, but also helped him in refurbishing Lancaster House, where he now resides. Chairman of the National Assistance Board, Senator Dr David Durant, told the DAILY NATION that seeing the elderly man now compared to how he looked a month ago had brought joy to his heart. A grateful Browne was so excited that he kissed the hand of China’s Ambassador to Barbados, Wang Ke, as he thanked her for her country’s contributions to the project, which included cash and a donation of appliances. (DN)
LONDON FIRE SEARCH – Barbados High Commission officials are trying to find out if any Barbadians were victims of the deadly fire that engulfed a tower block in west London early yesterday morning. At least 12 people died and more than 74 were being treated in six hospitals across London, with over 20 in critical condition, after the huge fire engulfed Grenfell Tower, Lancaster West Estate, Latimer Road, North Kensington. It was reported at six minutes before 1 a.m., with 45 fire engines and around 200 firefighters eventually responding. The 24-storey block contained 120 apartments and was home to between 400 and 600 people. Barbados’ High Commissioner in London, Guy Hewitt, said in a statement: “Barbados High Commission offers its condolences to the West Indian and wider London community following the major fire at Grenfell Tower at Latimer Road. As this 1974-built, high-rise contained many migrant communities, we are trying to confirm whether any Barbadians were among the victims of the fire.” (DN)
LET’S TALK SEX - With authorities reporting an increase in rape and sexual assault cases, a Barbados Labour Party (BLP) parliamentarian and former educator is calling for a national dialogue on a sex offender registry. The issue raised its head again recently when Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police William Yearwood called for information on sex offenders to be made available to the public. However, Cynthia Forde told Barbados TODAY there ought to be some discussion among Barbadians on the controversial issue, even though she believes the country may have to go that route. Forde’s BLP colleague, former Attorney General Dale Marshall, recently disagreed with a sex offender registry, saying the country was too small and the move would be counter-productive. Although Minister of Social Care Steve Blackett is on the opposing political side, he sees eye to eye with Marshall on that point. Meantime, Forde, a former teacher and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, lamented that sexual assault was taking place in all strata of society. She alleged that well-known people were engaging in that activity and using their positions of power to keep victims silent. Forde gave the example of a woman whose boss repeatedly assaulted her and when she stood up to him, he belittled her. Forde was adamant that offenders should be brought to justice, no matter their standing in society, while victims should be provided with rehabilitation, therapy and training, “because that is the only way they can fully recover”.  (BT)
GUYANESE NATIONALS CHARGED WITH RAPING GIRL - Two Guyanese nationals, a man and woman, are now on remand after appearing in a Bridgetown Court on a rape charge. It is alleged that Carla Alexis Martin, 37, and Sean Christopher Nelson, 29, both of Kings Street, St Michael, had sexual intercourse with a female on June 11, knowing that she did not consent to the act or was reckless as to whether she consented. The two were not required to plead to the indictable charge when they appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court Wednesday. Prosecutor in the case, Sergeant Cameron Gibbons, objected to bail on several grounds, including the seriousness of the offence and the alleged victim’s tender age. However, Martin, in her application for bail, told Magistrate Cuffy-Sergeant that she knew nothing “bout what the girl say ‘bout me”, while Nelson submitted that they would not be in the area and “will not interfere” with the complainant, even as he denied having any knowledge of what was being alleged. However, their applications were denied and the two were remanded to prison until July 12. (BT)
BREACH OF TRUST – A man in his mid-50s will spend the next two years behind bars for indecently assaulting an 11-year-old girl back in 2012. Madam Justice Michelle Weekes imposed the sentence on Ian Elsworth Royer of 1st Avenue Kellman Land, Black Rock, St Michael in the No. 2 Supreme Court Wednesday. He had pleaded guilty to the charge early last year. The incident occurred on July 13, 2012, during the child’s summer vacation, while she was at home waiting for a refrigerator to be delivered to her house. Following her mother’s instructions, the girl called Royer, a neighbour, to come over and help her when the delivery truck arrived. During the wait, Royer pulled down the child’s tube top and sucked her breasts. The second form student tried to resist, but Royer persisted. After the delivery was made, the man continued his assault of the little girl, pulling her into a nearby bedroom, putting his hand over her mouth, pushing her onto the bed and rubbing her genitals. She tried to escape but Royer was too strong and, out of fear, she did not scream. The assault ended when Royer’s mobile phone vibrated and he left the house, telling the girl that he would be back. However, she called another neighbour who came to her assistance and kept her at another location until her mother returned home. The matter was reported to police and Royer admitted to the offence and was charged. Royer’s lawyer, Silbert Cadogan, urged the court to impose a suspended sentence on his client, based on the fact that he had no prior convictions, had pleaded guilty to the offence and no violence had been used in committing the offence. However, the prosecutor in the case, Crown Counsel Oliver Thomas disagreed and called for an 18-month prison term to be imposed, saying that the sentence in this case should be “one of deterrence” in hopes of protecting vulnerable young women in society. He also contended that Royer’s assault represented a “breach of trust of one’s neighbour”. Justice Weekes agreed, saying that the victim was only 11 years at the time and Royer was 39 years her senior. “There was a relationship of trust between the virtual complainant, her mother and you, as a neighbour,” she told Royer. “You were regarded a friend of the family . . . permitted entrance to their home  . . .  and then violated the virtual complainant in what should have been her safe place.” Adding that the girl had become disruptive at school and fought with boys after her ordeal, the judge added: “This serious breach of trust  . . . [caused] the child significant distress, as evidence by her change in behaviour. “This court’s view is that any sentence must reflect the disapproval and repugnance with which our society regards sexual assaults, particularly those against our young children, so that this can serve as a deterrent to others who have similar inclinations. “Two years imprisonment to commence from this day. . . . Take him away,” Justice Weekes ordered. (BT)
MILLION DOLLAR THEFT CASE ADJOURNED – The High Court has adjourned, until September, the trial of a clerical officer accused of stealing over a million dollars belonging to the Psychiatric Hospital. Anderson Ryan Ince of Hannays Road, St Lucy is currently on $100,000 bail on a charge that sometime between August 1, 2003 and August 1, 2005, he stole $1,118,500 which belonged to the Black Rock, St Michael mental institution and was vested with the Central Bank. He is also accused of laundering the funds. When the case was called in the No. 2 Supreme Court Wednesday, Madam Justice Michelle Weekes explained that she had given thought to the case which the attorneys in the matter believed would take about two and a half weeks to complete. The judge said with 55 witnesses and the schedule of her court ending in three weeks, as well as all the variables that could arise, it was doubtful the case could be completed within that time. Weekes said that in the interest of justice it would not be fair to start the trial now, then take the break, and have to adjourn until September. (BT)
15 YEAR-OLD CHARGED WITH 14 COUNTS OF BURGLARY – Police in the Southern Division have made a major breakthrough in relation to a number of burglaries committed in the Oistins area between the months of May and June 2017. They have arrested and formally charged a 15-year-old Christ Church schoolboy with 14 counts of burglary. He appeared before Magistrate Elwood Watts in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded to the Government Industrial School to reappear in court on August 9. (BT)
GIBSON REMANDED TO DODDS – Clement Robert Gibson, 27, of Sargeant Street, St John, was remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court today on a number of criminal charges. Gibson was arrested in connection with the offences which were committed on Saturday June 3 at College Land, St John. He was charged with three counts of endangering life, one count of use of firearm, and one count of wounding. Gibson is scheduled to reappear in court on July 12. (BT)
MEDICAL STUDENT WINS KREGG NURSE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Janelle Knight is the winner of this year’s Kregg Nurse Memorial Scholarship. The hearing impaired 21-year-old who is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus, is the 13th recipient of the award which is given to an individual with a disability who has successfully completed at least one year of post-secondary school education and is continuing formal education at a recognized tertiary educational institution. “I want to thank God because he has placed me here for a purpose beyond my understanding – a purpose I wish to fulfill. If any individual who is limited can do, then you should be able to as well,” said Knight, whose aim is to become a specialist in orthopedic surgery and eventually work as a doctor for an NBA team. The scholarship which was established in 2005 is a collaboration between human resources company Caribbean Catalyst Inc. and Linnell Nurse, the mother of the young man in whose name the award is named. He was the first person with a disability to graduate with honours from the Cave Hill campus, but he died at the age of 27 after losing the battle to muscular dystrophy. The other finalist, who Knight beat out to take the award, was another UWI student, Gabriella Bovell-Niles. She is studying psychology and sociology and hopes to become a special education teacher and speech language pathologist. Bovell-Niles, whose right arm has been amputated below the elbow, also wants to start a fund called Ella Hope, to assist children and young adults who are amputees. Presenting awards to both young women, Senator Kerryann Ifill remembered Nurse as a shining example that “disability is no inability”.  (BT)
TROPICAL WAVE AFFECTS BARBADOS - The Barbados Meteorological Office says a tropical wave is affecting the island. Heavy rains have been pounding sections of the country for most of the day. Weather officials say it will remain generally cloudy to overcast with periods of rain, isolated pockets of moderate to heavy showers and possible thunderstorms. (BT)

Advantages of Consolidating Debt with a Non-Profit Debt Consolidation Service | Canada
If you've been declined for a loan by your bank or credit union and are wondering what other debt consolidation options you have, you should talk with a non-profit Credit Counsellor. They'll sit down with you or talk to you over the phone for free, take a look at your financial situation, lay out for you the options that are available to you, discuss the pros and cons of these options, and then help you figure out what option would be in your best interest based on your personal financial goals and objectives. Here are some of the key advantages of this kind of a program:
All your creditors agree to consolidate your credit card payments into one monthly payment that fits your budget. The credit counselling agency negotiates all of this with your creditors.
Most major credit card companies will reduce your interest rates to 0%. Others will dramatically reduce their interest rates for you. The idea here is to help you get your credit card debt paid off in 2 – 5 years.
Your Credit Counsellor will help you put together a realistic spend plan (a budget) that takes into account all of your family's needs to ensure that your finances stay on track and you get out of debt quickly.
Non-profit credit counselling agencies have the authority to erase all records of your debts that were on their program 2 years after you complete the program. This way you have a credit report and get a fresh start. Some non-profit credit counselling agencies also have programs to help you re-establish your credit during that 2 year period so that you can get your life back on track as quickly as possible.
