Connors (Stern Siblings) 🥇🥈🥉✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DBH Role Reversal Au, Detective Stern (Connor), Lieutenant Stern (Richard/Nines), Conrad (Six) and Hank (HK800)
I wanted Connor to have tension with Nines because they lost their brother Conrad, where Connor was saved over Conrad (his identical twin) because an Android paramedic prioritized Connor's status as a police officer over Conrad (who was studying to be a teacher). If it was a human, they wouldn't have been able to distinguish between the two and possibly even tried to save both.
Nines joins the police academy soon after which causes problems with Connor, but he does it to look after Connor as he doesn't want to lose another sibling. Connor who was supposed to be promoted as the youngest lieutenant in Detroit has to see his younger and better brother get it instead.

Comics Review: ‘Batgirls’ #1
Tumblr media
Batgirls Vol. 1 by Becky Cloonan My rating: 3 of 5 stars Gotham is on fire. Again. (Still?) And fortunately or unfortunately, by this juncture, fewer and fewer people truly care whether anyone is around to douse the flames. Which could be a good thing for Team Batgirl, whose combined ranks of Gordon, Cain, and Brown might slip among the shadows a little bit easier. But nothing really goes as one hopes when crimefighting in a city on fire. In BATGIRLS v1, readers breeze into the chaos midstream: Team Batgirl fights off a street artist with a knack for mind control, encounters a trio of well-equipped militant extremists, defends against a prodigy hacker, and as often happens when dealing with teenage superheroes, the team, from time to time, must also combat its own stupidity. BATGIRLS v1 successfully executes what many recent iterations of Batgirl have done: blend new stories of familiar heroics for new readers. Barbara Gordon is the big sister with a mind for strategy and gadgetry. Cassandra Cain is a strong, silent, and efficient partner looking for comfort among close friends. And Stephanie Brown, who is especially chatty, hates villainy with a casual efficiency that would be terrifying if she weren't so exceedingly upbeat. Few comics fans who thrive on more parochial ("classic") narrative tales of any of these characters will fall in love with this new comic. But that's okay. For what BATGIRLS v1 hopes to achieve, the character relationships and plotting mostly hit the target. The book struggles to balance its quest to entertain as well as the necessity of narrative focus. Does the team settle on relocating its hideout after a bomb threat, does it pound the pavement in search of an upstart mind-control freak, does it crack down on a hyped-up group of well-armed militants, or does it track down a hacker who has infiltrated Oracle's network? Lots of entertaining stuff. But ultimately very poor focus. Some of these stories are relegated to C-level priority, despite being introduced as a big deal. For others, the reverse feels truer than not. For example, The Saints, sharp assassins bearing some sweet gear, enter the story early only to falter and feather into the background. Team Batgirl gets its butt kicked the first time around, but in the end, the headhunters are a piece of cake. Is this another casualty of Big Two comics promising more than it can deliver? Regardless, it's kind of a letdown. BATGIRLS v1 leans heavily on the antics and dynamics of its co-protagonists. Cass is generally mum, but she doesn't hesitate to voice her opinion when her emotions rise to the fore. Steph is written precisely like a modern teenager, which is to say, she somehow balances being incredibly productive while also being dreadfully annoying. The two girls would make for the center-point of a killer series, when they're older, about Batgirl Roommates. But for now, side stories and commentary involving oddball pajamas, burned pancakes, and pierced ears will have to do. Visually, the comic employs an effective art style that works well with these iterations of Cain and Gordon but doesn't always mesh with Brown's ebullience. The book's sharp, angular, fed-from-the-shadows visual design is inherently cryptic, and more than suitable to the storytelling atmospherics of a city lulled to sleep while still on fire. The art in this book really stands out, from the geometric silhouette of Cain's cape to the incredible color-mix of psychosis and psychedelia readers engage, once fear gas is introduced into the story. Perhaps if the book reduced its villain count and narrowed its narrative trajectory, then the art team's work would've been even more effective. BATGIRLS v1 thrives, but ebbs and flows considerably in the process. The character voices are distinct and the art delivers on all accounts. But the story problematically overloads when it should instead pick and choose its challenges.

Van Helsing is described at length in the novel. He is Dr. Seward's old mentor, possessing "an iron nerve, a temper of the ice-brook, an indomitable resolution, self-command, [....] and the kindliest and truest heart that beats." According to Mina, he is "a man of medium height, strongly built, with his shoulders set back over a broad, deep chest and a neck well balanced on the trunk as the head is on the neck. The poise of the head strikes me at once as indicative of thought and power. The head is noble, well-sized, broad, and large behind the ears. The face, clean-shaven, shows a hard, square chin, a large resolute, mobile mouth, a good-sized nose, rather straight, but with quick, sensitive nostrils, that seem to broaden as the big bushy brows come down and the mouth tightens. The forehead is broad and fine, rising at first almost straight and then sloping back above two bumps or ridges wide apart, such a forehead that the reddish hair cannot possibly tumble over it, but falls naturally back and to the sides. Big, dark blue eyes are set widely apart and are quick and tender or stern with the man's moods." Van Helsing tends to talk through funny stories and bizarre metaphors, is one of the first to consider the supernatural in Lucy's illness, and comes from Amsterdam.

Jealous? C.F.
Tumblr media
Requested -  Maybe like a jealous conrad? or conrad comforts you after a fight with Jeremiah (you're bestfriends in this case) @nomorespahgetti I tried by best to do both, hope this is okay!
Pairing - Conrad Fisher x Fem!Reader Summary - You’re uncertain if your feelings for Conrad are one side, so you hatch a plan to see if he’ll get jealous. Warnings - Violence, use of alcohol Words - 2.5K
A/n - I’m writing more for The Summer I Turned pretty so send in some requests here
Masterlist
You had been friends with the Fisher boys for a long time. And for a long time, you had done practically everything together. As you went into high school, parties became a more frequent activity you did together.
Another house was swarmed with teens. Flashing lights, blaring music, enough to reel everyone in. Jeremiah pulled into a spot on the road as the three of you glared at the scene. It was thrilling and it was a promise of a good night. Quite frankly, none of you could wait to join in all the fun.
Jeremiah turned around in the driver's seat, his eyes jumping between you in the back seat and Conrad in the passenger seat. "You guys know the rules alright?" Said Jere, stern in his expression.
The older brother laughed, "Of course we do." He replied. "You do realise you're barely ever the sober driver?"
"I am!" He argued as the brothers did. "There was Abi's party! I was the sober driver then."
You joined in with Conrad as you gave a giggle, "You do realise that was almost a year ago, Jere."
His expression moulded into one of disbelief, "What? No, no, it wasn't, I-" He came to realise you were in fact right. "Just, please, both be ready to leave at one." That was always the rule: one out of the three was the sober driver and the other two would always have to be ready at 1 am on the dot to leave.
Of course, it didn't always go to plan. But it was the plan you always followed. "Yes, understood."
Conrad's hand was on the door when he added, "Make sure Alec knows as well." It was a sly comment, similar to all the others he had been making for the past month.
You glared at him but he wouldn't look back. "He knows." You assured before being the first to exit the car, eager to slip away from Conrad's grumpy exterior.
Alec was another Summer hookup. One of which was made on the basis of no-strings-attached. It was meaningless, but thrilling and fun, a way to burn time when you had nothing else to do. And the moment you walked through the front door, he was by your side. And, only a moment later, you came to realise it was because he wanted to trace his hands around your waist, wanted to see if you would end up staying another night in his bed.
Instead, your hands tore his from your clothing, "Let's get a drink, hm?" You suggested.
His expression was hiding a scowl as he forced a nod. "Sure." He sighed, trailing behind you as you took his hand, dragging him through into the kitchen.
All night you had Alec's hands clawing at you and Conrad's gaze piercing into you. It was torture. You knew Conrad didn't like Alec, he didn't like any of your hookups, but it was beginning to get on your nerves. So, rather than stay put, you waited until it got to half past midnight when you downed the rest of your drink, grabbed Alec's hand and pulled him upstairs.
You shut the door, finding yourself in what you hoped was only a guest bedroom; very beige, very empty. You rushed towards the window, looking outside to spot Jere's Jeep. If Conrad thought he could make comments like that, stare as much as he pleased, you would make it as worse for him as you could do. Or maybe you just wanted to see what he would do - not that you would admit that to yourself. Deep down, you were truly just wanting to see how he would react if he would dare to be jealous or show any sign that he felt something romantic for you. Maybe it was an unfair way of doing things, but it had been years now, and never did he make a move.
"Finally," Came the voice from behind you. One of which you had almost forgotten. "Was beginning to think you weren't going to spare me some time tonight."
You turned, brows knitted, "What?"
He took a step closer, letting his eyes gaze across the lines of your body like it was his. "You've barely given me any attention tonight." He pointed out.
He went to go closer before you put out your hand. Your palm hit his chest with a thud that sounded through the whole room; his demeanour altered. "And you're making me not want to give you any more." His hands were sticky, once they touched your skin they seemed to never leave. And you were planning to make sure tonight, he never got to even brush a fingertip against you.
It was fun while it lasted, you thought.
"Come on, don't be like that." Alec critiqued.
"You're just pissed because you're not gonna get any tonight." It came out of your mouth before you could stop it, but you weren't exactly upset about it.
The boy across from you simply scoffed, "Don't pretend as if you're not in this for any other reason." You couldn't argue about that.
"You know I don't even think I've got any more reasons to continue this." You huffed. Tonight had seemed to put you completely off the boy.
"So, you're ending this?"
Your arms folded around your chest and you came to shrug, "Yeah, I guess I am."
There: the door swung open. You and Alec, meters apart, scowls on both of your faces. And in the doorway stood Conrad Fisher, him too wearing a scowl.
But rather than another sly comment about why you were late to the car, he found the scene cause for concern. "What's going on?" His eyes were burning into Alec, only daring to give you a glimpse every now and again.
You thought then it was best to screw your plan. It wasn't as if Conrad was getting jealous. In fact, he seemed more protective over you, worried by the state Alec was in. "Nothing." You huffed in an obvious lie, grabbing your bag and heading to the door. "Let's go."
Conrad was right behind you. He was turning, ready to leave whatever had happened behind him. But then, of course, Alec had to go and open his mouth. "You know I should have believed what they said about you!" He yelled, the door open for everyone outside to overhear.
Both you and Conrad came to a halt. And you both turned to face him. His skin was burning, his fists clenched and you were scared if you got any closer, you would be leaving with a black eye. "Everyone makes mistakes." You flashed a weak, sarcastic smile, more than ready to fleet this scene you had caused.
"Every week, a different boy right? I'm surprised I lasted this long!" He chuckled so sinisterly.
Conrad started walking over. The second his foot moved, your hand reached for his, so unlucky that his fingers slipped from yours like butter before you could get a grip. "What you gonna do, Fisher?" Alec tormented.
Like that, he invited what was coming for him. "This." Before he had even finished his before, the fist was thrown.
"Conrad!" You snapped but it was no use.
Alec stared back at him, fury written within his pupils. Before you could do anything, they were wrapped between limbs, fighting to leave bruises, a punch here and there. By now, half of the party was crowded around this small doorway, cheering the two boys on like it was a boxing match. It took a good few minutes before Conrad finally got Alec to stay down - not without a few lingering bruises and cuts himself though.
He was staring down at Alec like he was meat. And before you came over to him, you weren't sure he was going to snap out of it. Your hand wrapped around his forearm, "Conrad," You whispered his name like it was fresh air. He almost jumped as he stared back at you. Your finger came to his cheek, brushing at it, "Let's go."
The boy nodded, letting you lead him towards the Jeep where Jeremiah was still waiting for you. As you weaved your way through the party, neither of you dared to let go of the other. You weren't sure why Conrad was so pulled to punch Alec, and you weren't saying it wasn't deserved, but you knew them bruises weren't going to be painless. For that, you would feel a tad guilty - you were the reason he had even come up to the room, why Alec was so angry in the first place, you just wished you could have stopped him from breaking out that fight.
You wandered out to the car where Jere jumped out from the driver's seat. He was readying some lecture to you both but when he took in the state of the two of you, he was taken aback. "Jesus," He huffed as you and Conrad stumbled towards the back door. "What the hell happened to you guys?"
Conrad stopped for a moment to address Jere, "Long story." And with that, he got into the car and you followed him.
It was silent until Jere started driving, his eyes flickering to the rear-view mirror to catch glimpses of you two tangled in the back seats together. Finally, he had to ask, "This didn't have something to do with Alec, did it?"
Conrad glared at his brother, "He just doesn't know when to shut up." The boy grumbled, going back to staring mindlessly out the window.
"So you started a fight with him?" The younger brother quipped.
And before an argument could spark between the two you jumped in, "I tried to stop it alright." You didn't realise that was only going to start an argument between you and Jere instead.
"Really?" Jere shook his head and it prompted a pit to grow in your stomach. "The only reason he was up there was because you weren't at the car when you were supposed to be. And by the sounds of it, you were hooking up with your little boyfriend while we were waiting for you!" That guilt only grew with every word that fell from Jeremiah's lips.
You sat further back in your seat, "I'm sorry," You said like a scolded child. "I lost track of time."
The rest of the car journey was silent. There was thick tension between each of you and when you returned to the Fisher house, it finally started to settle.
Jere went straight to his own room. And Conrad was about to do the same before you reached out your hand, taking a grasp of his wrist. He stopped ad slowly spun to face you. A good few silent seconds passed before you said anything, "You can't go to bed like that." You pointed towards the black eye that was forming on his face. "Come on," You nodded your head toward the kitchen and he started following you.
His fingers came to interwind with your own as you wandered towards the bar stool, guiding Conrad to sit on one of them. From there, in the silence and the dim light, you gathered frozen pees and returned to the beaten boy. Your eyes locked onto his. It was as if the whole world stopped when you looked at Conrad. For that one moment, you were completely encompassed by his blue pupils, forgetting why you were here, why he had a swollen eye and why you had a pit in your stomach.
When the moment passed, it all came flooding back. You took a step forward and ever so quietly pressed the packet towards his eye. "I'm sorry you got hurt." You finally broke the silence.
Conrad shrugged, "It was worth it, knowing he's hurting more." You could have predicted he would say that.
"Jere's right though." You said, the guilt laced within your tone. "The only reason you were there was because of me."
Conrad stepped up abruptly, forcing you to retract the frozen pees, "Don't let him get to you like that, he was just pissed. If he was in that room too he would have done the same thing too." A part of you faulted at that. If Jere would have done it, then maybe Conrad's actions didn't come from a place of deep-rooted romance, more just like protecting a younger sister.
"Yeah, maybe." Your eyes fell to the floor.
It sparked something. Before you could move, Conrad's finger was under your chin, prompting you to look back at him; there you were, locked. "He was a dick anyway." He offered a smile.
"That's what you say about everyone I get with."
Conrad couldn't deny that but he could excuse it. "Because they'll all dicks and don't how to treat you right."
That urged a grin of your own, "Okay then, find me someone who isn't and maybe you'll have one less black eye." Your own hand reached out this time, tracing the yellow patches which were already forming.
"That might take a while." He shrugged.
You didn't move your hand from his skin, "Maybe not."
You watched as his expression moulded into one of confusion, "What?"
"Conrad," Your voice had a sudden shake to it, "You're the only person I know who treats me right, who knows exactly what I need, how I feel, you're like a mind reader." You were beginning to pour your heart out. "You've been by my side since I can remember. And you are always the one to pick me up after the dickhead guys leave me behind, and you're always the one to fight them for me - when it's needed of course." Conrad was following your every word as you tried to forget this could be the be-all and end-all. "What I'm trying to say is that I really like you and I don't want to go through any more hookups or stupid boys. I just want you."
You took a breath like it was the first time. Like now you had said that your breath was fresh, it was weightless. When you looked at Conrad, you felt like you were hanging onto a thread and he was holding the scissors. His hands came to cup the sides of your face and you became weak at his touch, "I'm glad you finally came to your senses." And with that, he sealed the words by leaning into your lips.
Sure, the night had been chaotic, but somehow it had ended in the dim light of the Beach House kitchen, whispering sweet nothings and confirming the feelings that you had been holding in for years.

ONESHOT !
summary : conrad defending you from belly on your birthday
warnings : yelling, Belly being a bitch, fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Conrad and you had been madly in love since you both first laid eyes on each other. Your relationship was built on a foundation of support, understanding, and kindness. But Belly, who is someone you both grew up with, seemed to have developed envy towards their connection.
The confrontation began innocently enough. At first, Belly's jabs were veiled as jokes, but the malicious intent soon became evident. Conrad's concern grew with each biting remark that spewed from Belly's mouth, his girlfriend's normally bright smile fading into a mask of hurt.
Conrad knew he had to act to protect the woman he loved, even if it meant confronting his best friend. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, he stepped forward, determination lending strength to his voice.
"Hey, Belly," he said firmly, “I think you should go home, you’re drunk.” Belly's eyes narrowed as she turned her attention towards Conrad. She could sense his seriousness and was taken aback by his willingness to challenge her.
"What why? I'm just having a little fun," Belly replied, a smug grin playing on her lips.
Conrad refused to back down. "Fun is one thing, Belly, but this is crossing a line. I won't just stand here and watch you belittle and insult Y/N. I don’t know what your problem is but I don’t like you ruining her birthday."
As Conrad spoke, he noticed the room had fallen into a hushed silence. Everyone watched their exchange with anticipation, wondering how it would unfold.
Belly's face flushed with anger, but something in her eyes held a flicker of remorse. "Oh shut up! Ever since she came into our lives i’ve been feeling like the second choice! the second option!"
Conrad's stern expression softened as he listened to Belly's unexpected admission. He understood her feelings of insecurity, realizing that perhaps he had unintentionally neglected their friendship as his relationship with you deepened. But that didn't excuse Belly's hurtful behavior.
"I understand you might feel that way, Belly, but hurting others won't fix it. You could’ve just talked to me, to us. We didn’t want you to feel like this at all.”
You walked up to Belly, grabbing her shoulder gently. "Belly, I'm sorry if I made you feel left out. I care about our friendship to-“
Belly shook her head, pushing Y/N away, “No just stop! Just stop trying to be the good person. You knew! you knew how much I liked him, Y/N!” she yelled, crying. Jeremiah went up to her, pulling her up, “Come on, let’s go. I don’t want you regretting anything.” Jeremiah said, walking out of the door, bring Belly home.
You felt Conrad’s hand on my back, “I’m sorry, baby. This was supposed to be your special day” you shook your head, turning to Conrad, you placed your hands on his cheek, “It’s okay, I totally understand where she’s coming from. Maybe we should’ve been you know.. careful” you said, looking down.
Conrad looked down at you before pulling you in, lifting your face, kissing your cheek, you felt his hand on your head, guiding you close to his chest, “Look if she was truly our friend then she would be happy for us. Don’t worry, I got you always okay? I love you so much, I’m sorry, sweetheart.” Conrad said, reassuring you — he just wanted this day to be special for you, he just wanted to be a good boyfriend. It took days for him to finish this plan and he just wouldn’t let anything ruin it, not even Belly.

Kyou Kara Maou but Yuuri is the one who introduces people to a tradition for once. It goes a little like this -
There's a rumor in court that the King doesn't really love his fiance, and sees him as a friend or brother in arms. They got engaged for political reasons, you see. Or by mistake. There's no intent there. A few dream of proposing to the king, and have him maybe accept, but most know that's a moot point- he's always with Lord Weller, his bodyguard. No one can get past that man, less of all close enough to the king to actually strike him. So, the smart ones decide a better way to get into the king's good graces and into his inner circle would be by proposing to his fiance. Free him of an unwanted arrangement, become something like a sibling in law by marrying his long time companion, AND get a drop -dead gorgeous husband?? Its too good of a deal to pass up.
And so it starts, one night during a ball at the castle. Yuuri is dancing with Greta, while Wolfram smiles tenderly from the side, and the way the gesture lights up his entire face and turns his stern demeanour angelic gives the last push of bravery a tipsy noble needed. The slap is heard throughout the hall, and everything, music included, quietens at the sound. Wolfram is frozen in place, cheek stinging. Conrad and Gwendal approach, storms in their eyes. Yuuri, confused and a little annoyed as he starts to understand what's going on, follows suit.
He has to duel the noble, of course. As the one of higher standing between him and his friend, it's either he fights the dude for Wolfram or 'gives him up'.
'You can get rid of the engagement like this', Murata points out.
'Wolf isn't an object to be passed around,' Yuuri replies, getting ready for the fight. 'And he doesn't want to marry the guy- I won't free myself by trapping him somewhere else'
He doesn't go too hard on the noble. Poor guy was kinda drunk, he probably didn't mean anything by it, and he doesn't deserve to have his shit rocked because he made an impulsive decision while deep in his glass. Yuuri can also empathize, as he, too, has felt the need to hit Wolfram in the past (and he understands his beauty is the type that makes people do dangerous things).
They think the matter is settled. That it's a one off, weird but whatever.
Then, it happens again, when Wolfram is taking a stroll through the gardens with Greta. The noble lady responsible had thought the last attempt made had failed because the man decided to slap Lord Von Bielefeld in front of the Maou. Of course, even without an emotional connection, the gesture was too disrespectful to go unpunished. She grins as her hand makes contact, uncaring about the young princess bursting into tears and running off. Wolfram, this time, gathers himself fast enough to feel pissed. If not for the guards holding him off, weary of how tradition dictates the only retribution given might come from Yuuri, he'd have cooked the woman alive.
By the time Yuuri gets there, hand in hand with a still weepy Greta, he's mad enough by the fact someone dared make his daughter cry that he duels the woman right there in the gardens. After it's done, Wolfram huffs, still indignant, and marches his king and princess back inside, leaving the guards to deal with the waterlogged lady.
Okay, the nobles think. So maybe the Maou has to save face, and feels forced to accept any challenge thrown in his own home. No big deal! Lord Von Bielefeld is escorting the King on a diplomatic meeting when a dignatary from the neighboring country, the one they are visiting, goes up to him and strikes.
Conrad is the one holding Wolfram back this time, while Yuuri, angry after a full day of negotiations going nowhere, takes the chance to work off some nervous energy and dons his sword for the duel. Murata, again, points out Yuuri could use this as a chance to end the engagement. Yuuri, who's heard Wolfram ask late at night, on a very quiet voice, 'they think me so easy to steal? Am I worth so little to them?', shuts him up with a glare. It was never funny to begin with, but now it's really, really not funny.
The general consensus is, then, that it shouldn't be done while the Maou is nearby at all, or in his castle. Pursuers gain confidence then, attacking again and again when the young lord is on patrols, back on his uncle's lands, or simply out and about. Wolfram's guards become twitchy, trying their best to stop this from happening but not having much success, dreading the moment they are sent to call for the Maou so he might fight for his fiance.
Yuuri fights no less than 15 duels, having to cut meetings short, postpone his trips to earth and cancel baseball practice to do so. He's getting angrier and angrier, frustrated and... Something else he has no name of, at how many people are apparently wanting to take his place on Wolfram's life.
He still entertains the entire thing because that's tradition, apparently, and it has to stop eventually, right?
Until one night, when they are alone in their room, Wolfram turns away from him in the bed and whispers how maybe they should end the engagement. If people think him so easily stolen, his image must be pretty bad, not at all like how a future king consort should be; and he's seen how tired Yuuri is of having to defend him. His pride and feelings are hurt, and for the first time in his life, Wolfram is contemplating giving up instead of fighting, his usual fire dimming with every careless duel.
That's when Yuuri gets up from bed, terrified and furious at the notion, and storms into the treasure room to look for the thing he needs. And during the next big feast at the castle, like the one that started this madness, he calls for attention and explains to everyone how proposals are done in Earth. How one gets down on one knee, begging their partner to accept a ring in exchange for the rest of their life together. How no one can take that ring off, except the one that put it there or the one who wears it, and even then it's by their choice alone. How it's a promise and a vow and something unbreakable, forever.
And as he says this, he kneels in front of Wolfram and presents a precious ring of emeralds and onix, and once again binds Wolfram to him.
No one else proposes to either of them, after that night, even though Wolfram's smile had shone so bright it put all the jewels in the room to shame.
Gunter doesn't stop crying for a week, while Gwendal is busy planning the wedding.

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 42 (Toddler Birthday Time!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heather threw a party at home for Ash's second birthday. But she helped him blow out the candles before guests arrived, because she didn't want anyone to take a slice before she could put candles on it!
To her disappointment, her family in Henford cancelled at the last minute. Cassandra had gone into labour and they all went with her to the hospital, but Heather had hoped to finally introduce them to Conrad.
Despite this, she focused on the guests who could make it. Holly and Kris came from San Myshuno with Mortimer and Uncle Karl, the Landgraabs showed up to celebrate, and Conrad, too.

"Conrad? What are you doing here?" wondered Malcolm. "I thought we agreed we weren't pressing charges."
The detective masked a smile. "Right. Well...Heather and I have been dating a few months now," he said.
Malcolm cocked his head sideways in surprise. "Heather didn't mention you."
"I've gathered there's a lot you two don't tell each other."

Malcolm considered this new information and raised an eyebrow. "I haven't spoken to you in over sixteen years. You show up practically out of the blue months ago to interfere in a criminal case and now you're dating my son's mother?" Conrad froze. "Sounds a little like professional misconduct, Detective."
Conrad felt his hands shake, but Malcolm's stern face melted into laughter. "I'm just joking with you, but you should see your face! I think it's cool."

Conrad wouldn't take Malcolm Landgraab simply at his word. "You're sure?"
"Yes! Seriously. Heather and I are trying to make peace and you've got a lot more in common with her than I ever did. And now I know who my son was talking about when he said his new friend was Conedd Play! He likes you, so I trust you around my son. And with that, I give you my blessing."
"That means a lot, Malcolm. Thank you."

As the party continued, Nancy found her son upstairs. "We should leave soon. Heather's sister won't stop talking about fish and she keeps trying to make me eat cake. But your father told me the news!"
Malcolm looked at his mother, confused.
"Heather and Conrad are together! Our lawyer could put her away on a technicality because she slept with the investigating detective!"
"You're not going to do that."
"Why?"
Tumblr media
"Because I don't want you to."
"Malcolm, you don't know what you want."
"Like hell I don't! You just never stop to listen. I want you to stop your vendetta against Heather. You're not going to get San Myshuno PD to reopen the case, because if you're a danger to my son's mother, you're a danger to my son! That's your grandson - the one you want to run your company one day, remember?" Nancy scowled. "So she bested you in business and guessed your stupid password! She's a small business owner and you're a wealthy CEO. Get over it."
Malcolm's father, Geoffrey, had been listening nearby. "Your son's right, Nancy. Ash is more important than your pride. He's your legacy and you know it's true. You went to the salon this morning because you wanted to show Ash that Landgraabs always look their best. Heather invited you here for his birthday even though she didn't have to put up with you. You owe her better than this."

Nancy stuttered as her precious son and dutiful husband finally told her off, and Heather hid a satisfied smile when she left pouting. ->
