I have never played or seen a playthrough of Conker’s Bad Fur Day and I still remember it once being (still being?) the funniest move in gaming history because we were all just dimly aware of Conker as an extremely generic, simple and wholesome platformer series (well, one game?) that was only ever reviewed as just a decent quality game to buy for babies. Then halfway through the development of a new 3-d conker the devs just couldn’t take it anymore and poured all their pent-up rage into making a game where conker is a drunk horny vietnam veteran or whatever it was about, again I didn’t play it but there was a time this was outrageously hilarious news. Imagine if say kirby wasn’t popular as-is but chugged along for years with mediocre reception until nintendo snapped and made a kirby game in which he fucks and smokes weed, and also imagine this happening while you’re a child and in the 90′s. We lost our damned minds over Conker doing a cuss word.

about me
Ayy, I'm Frankie! I'm 27. I don't have much to say really lmao
Birthday's Aug 15th; leo ☀️, Capricorn 🌙, libra ️
I have an interest in Buddhism and folklore.
I've made some music in the past but I'm mostly a visual artist and it's more of a hobby than a full-time passion.
My blood is probably made up entirely of horror movies, video games, and cartoons/animation. There's nothing better than being scared or having a laugh.
Favorite Movies- Terror of Mechagodzilla (Godzilla is a huge interest for me in general), Day of the Dead ('85), SLC Punk, The Man With Two Brains, Near Dark, Paris Texas, Blood Simple, Wild At Heart, The Vanishing (Spoorloos), Existenz, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, My Neighbor Totoro, etc.
Favorite Series- Ultraman (Taro being my absolute favorite), Paranoia Agent, Soul Eater, Cowboy Bebop, Twin Peaks/The Return, Tales From The Crypt, Warehouse 13, Star Trek, X Files, ALF, TMNT, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Ed Edd n' Eddy, Duckman, Darkwing Duck, Futurama, etc.
Favorite Games- Crash Bandicoot (Twinsanity is #1), Sly Cooper (1-3), Fallout NV and 3, Resident Evil (pretty much everything but I hate Code Veronica), Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Klonoa, Hollow Knight, Conker (Bad Fur Day/Live-Reloaded), Kirby, Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country, Luigi's Mansion, Doom (especially D3), and Quake. A ton of other stuff too!!
before you follow:
Don't bother me if you're a hateful person, it takes so much energy to be an asshole, why not just be happy? I legit just wanna be left alone to experience life in peace as shitty as it is sometimes. So if you're a bigot, just don't bother with me. It's literally a waste of your time, time you could be spending doing something you enjoy!

Rodent saying to Conker after the war ending in Conker’s Bad Fur Day “it was a real privilege working with you, I would have to say if ever I to go through an operation such as that again, I hope that it’s with you” really melted my heart 🥺💕 and I bet Conker may have been taken aback by that cause I feel like if he’s ever feeling like poison, broken or a burden he wouldn’t expect anyone to say something nice like that to him
I overanalyze things a lot but during that moment when Rodent says “can I just say one more thing?”
and Conker just gets prepared for if rodent is about to insult him but then turns out to be the exact opposite and Conker just gets taken back by it like “oh…uh thanks”
is further proof that he genuinely didn’t think rodent would praise him like that, let alone think anyone would say something genuinely nice
which is fucking funny when rodent leaves and says “man what a great guy! :D” and Conker rolls his eyes and says “idiot…” cause I methinks he thought that rodent is just being his naive self cause he clearly doesn’t know him well enough to say such things to him, at-least to conker who thinks that.
It also could be he’s still shaken up after the events of the war so he’s just tired and annoyed. he just wants to go home man…

Deme Rates Villagers: Cubs
It’s Bears, but Smaller!
(Why didn’t I lump Bears and Cubs the way I did Cows and Bulls? Because there are a fair number of them, I think.)
I have also realized that, rather than a numerical rating, an emoticon rating might be better. I may do numbers from time to time, and so likely will not go back for the others. There will not be a scale, but a broad expression of my feelings. Or a mimic of their faces. Or a comment. Sometimes.
Disclaimer: Images are from the wiki, all good dogs, my ratings are mainly just there because “Deme gives her abstract thoughts on villagers” is hardly a catchy thing.
Aisle
Another Animal Forest E+ exclusive, another villager that looks like they came out of a Rare game like Banjo-Kazooie or Conker’s Bad Fur Day, even though this one doesn’t feature any exact equivolents. On the whole, I think the high contrast between the blue fur and the tuft of blond hair is a bad look, but the big blue eyes being sort of heavy-lidded and dour’s kind of cute.
Rating: :|
Barold
Barold is great. Like, I don’t entirely know what they’re going for with him -- he vaguely suggests either Fred Flinstone or an IT guy in my head -- but I love it either way. (Fred Flinstone: 5 o’ clock shadow, shirt. IT Guy: Eeyes have kind of a glasses shape, beard). He’s oozing with character, albeit a strange character, and do I detect little white pawsies? I do!
Rating: B’|
Bluebear
She’s a bear! She’s blue! She’s got a little white and a little pink, which gives her a nicely over-all pastel look. I like the darker blue (Fire Emblem Lord Blue, perhaps?) hair on her. She is just cute.
Rating: :)
Cheri
Another colorful bear cub, this one, pink! I like her, she’s sassy. Nice eyebrows that pair with her eyes to give her an impression of moxie that’s still quite cute. Hair is spiky, which adds to that. She’s peppy, which means that by peppy standards, she’s pretty edgy, in a weird, pink little bear way. Either way, she’s rather cute.
Rating: :]
Chester
Man, what do the Animal Crossing devs have against just letting pandas be cute? Chow, Chester... They’re both just sort of weird in a way that I find, funnily enough, more unsettling or dull than charming. Long pupils are not friend-shaped; if they leaned into the creepy, like with a goat, that would be one thing, but it rather spoils Chester. The sad-looking mouth could be cute, but it’s a bit big for that. Almost there, Chester, but just not.
Rating: :(
Cupcake
So, Cupcake is kind of Cheri, but with a half-hearted snootification effort via heavy-lidded eyeshadow eyes. Meh.
Rating: :[ (Like Cheri, but worse.)
Judy
A New Horizons new villager, and Judy is sure an aesthetic! The pastel gradients, the enormous sparkly eyes with the big shojou lashes, she just screams that she belongs in a gothic lolita girl’s arms during a photoshoot. Get this bear a lace-up dress. She could be an extra Hello Kitty collab character or something. I’m not actually a huge fan of Judy, but I cannot possibly deny that she is wonderfully what she is, and so while the agressively UWU quality to her isn’t for me, but I can’t help but applaud it. Dedication! Also, I like the subtler blush. It works.
Rating: (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
June
June is maaaybe my favorite cub, she’s just simple and pleasant-looking, without being a pastel screaming-fest, Her colorscheme and implied heavy fringe has a sort of... Like, it makes her big blue eyes and over-all cuteness read “girl next door,” sort of an ordinary, natural cute. And then you add the cute big hibiscus for a little pop that contrasts with her eyes. It’s just a real cute look. I’d probably, though, if I were to consider adopting her, check to make sure her eyes aren’t super weird when you look at them from other angles. It’s a bad fate to befall a villager.
Rating: (◕‿◕✿) (Babe, hold my flower)
Kody
Hey, look, it’s one of my starter New Leaf villagers! Kody was the last of my first villagers to move out, too, sticking around for quite a while indeed. His departure left a hole that Clyde entered through via someone’s void, and I was not happy about that. As a result, I feel fonder of Kody than I would otherwise, since otherwise, he’s just, you know, a blue bear with a darker blue spot, like many animals that are just like that except not bears. It can be charming with the right face, but there’s nothing particularly noteworthy about his face. It’s just Kody. There he is. Old chum.
Rating: ˅ u ˅ Ah, the memories...
Maple
Awwww, look at her! She’s just precious, very simple, with implied floofy bangs and bright little dot eyes. Even the pink sticker blush works better with her colors than I see in a lot of places. If June didn’t have her flowers, maybe I’d be here saying Maple’s my favorite. Maybe Maple is my favorite, I don’t know. She feels like angelfood cake, you, know? Light, pleasant, sweet...Though, admittedly, not especially flavorful. She’s just cute as she is.
Rating: ‘ ◕ w ◕ ‘
Marty
Ah, a Sanrio villager! ...Not one of the cuter ones, really. Looks sort of like a honey jar bear to me, which is, I suppose, something. His eyebrows have an unassuming quality, like he’s just a normal guy.
Rating: Normal Guy / Guys
Murphy
Remember everything I said about Kody? Yeah, still true about Murphy. His coloring is just sort of spotted bear,” now in green. But! He does have big square eyebrows and big square eyes, which give him a bit of extra character, reliably and kinda sleepy. A good face.
Rating = w = (A good thing, I promise.)
Olive
Olive is a villager I’ve heard compared to Maple a lot -- it’s the shirt, I suppose, but really, more than that. Her color scheme is also pretty naturalistic and grounded, she has a cute bang outline. She doesn’t push the cute as hard, but that might make her more comfortable, less out-and-out cutesy to folks. That said, her eyes just have that quality I found with the birds, where something about them, paired with the surprised eyebrows, that feels kinda blank, like they reveal nothing. Staring. These eyes have seen too much. But she’s still pretty cute, won’t lie.
Rating: O-O
Pekoe
Aww, isn’t she cute? This screenshot makes her look more cream-colored than I’m used to thinking of her as, a dramatic bonus to her over-all level of adorable. Pekoe’s use of ears to suggest little covered hair-buns is pretty flavorful; it makes me wonder if they almost wanted to make a cute, very on-theme panda, and then decided “No, let’s just make her a white bear, good enough.” Still, her face is cute, too, with a distinct set of eyes carrying through the same sort of design sensibilities as her hair and ears/buns, intensely stylized. It’s a nice look.
Rating: :)
Poko
What is with the shape of his head? You all see that, right, where his head is a totally different, longer, shape? Why? What does it mean? Is it meant to be like a mask? If it were meant to be a long mask, that’d be cool. I don’t think it is? It’s a mystery that he would need another appearance to solve, and that’s not happening.
Rating: ? :/
Poncho
Poncho’s cute. He’s basically just blue Olive, though the bangs are less fwooshy. Still, I find him a bit cuter than Olive, because the oval eyes sort of soften the effect of round on round on round that looks strange and staring; this is a bit more cartoony and cute. That’s about it from me. Pretty cute.
Rating: 0 ˅ 0
Pudge
Oh, Pudge looks so sad and alone! I want to hug and protect him! I’ve checked other screenshots, that’s just how Pudge’s face is, and it’s so precious! I do not get the freen on the ears and tip of tail, though. I do not understand why this is a thing, and I cannot say I approve of it. It’s kind of a distracting negative among this otherwise adorable design of a baby I just want to protect!
Rating: (> ‘ . ’)> Come here and let me hug you!
Stitches
OK, so, maybe if it’s not June or Maple, maybe Stitches is best cub. Certainly, he’s the most thematically strong, with this adorable patchwork teddybear design! His eyes evoke a really cute version of his name, little stitches. Just adorable and aesthetically on-point and I’m really happy to see him. I could see him with a place on my island, if I only didn’t have too many villagers I could see with a place.
Rating :D or, alternatively, XwX just for him.
Tammy
Oh, it’s almost all the things I dislike in a villager design. Random colors without real cohesion or purpose, just “well, this is a colorful animal” that clash with other randomly-selected colors (orange blush, deep rose eyeshadow, pale pink inner ears, white muzzle/paws, brown bangs) with eyeshadowed eyes to say “Hey this is a snooty” without going all-in for glamor-comedy? I think we’ve hit bingo. Funnily enough, I think this might be my least-favorite cub.
Rating: :(
Vladimir
Vladimir is ugly with dedication. Vladimir is ugly with a passion. Vladimir is ugly with soul and purpose. Buck teeth and that flatly furrowed, thin, no-brow-unibrow! Those awful bangs! Truly, Vladimir is an artist’s study in ugly-cute. I can’t say that it works to vaunt him into a villager I’d really love to have around, but I can profoundly respect him.
Rating: ಠ ῳ ಠ
The cubs are good, in conclusion. A good mix of aesthetics, and at least 3 I rather like, which is a good number. Also, I got to whip out some Japanese emoticons, and isn’t that important?

Must Have Video Games Tag Meme
Alright, so, I don’t post a lot of personal stuff on here, but I guess I can’t fight being tagged by the great @pi3pr0xy. ;p
So, I got into videogames when I was really young because I had a hip disease, the name is lost on me, but it was something that caused my hip bone cartilage to deteriorate and my bones would start rubbing against each other. I was basically out of commission for playing outside for a few months and my mom had just bought my older brother (who is a big ‘ol redneck) a SNES, which ended up being mine, and the rest is history.
Megaman X - SNES
This was the first game I can remember playing as a kid. This game was the absolute bomb. It had amazing controls, beautiful jraphics, and a compelling story line that pulled me in immediately. This is also the only game I remember playing with my dad who passed away when I was still young. I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves old school platformers.
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past - SNES
I can already sense people who are fans of Game Grumps that there’s a pattern of me picking some of Arin’s all time favorite games as my favorites, but long before I had the internet, I had a 12″ CRT TV at my grandma’s house. A TV on which I would first discover Link, a small boy tasked with saving all of Hyrule. This game was what jumped me into the LOZ series and I’ve fallen in love ever since. The feeling of adventure I felt in this game was immense. I spent hours finding new things, discovering secrets, and just enjoying being in the world.
Final Fantasy VII - Playstation
Call me a fanboy all you want, but this game revolutionized what I thought games could do. with very limited 3D graphics and pre-rendered backgrounds, this game might not look like much, but it’s storyline was amazing. I was engrossed the moment I turned on the game. The Chocobo, the size of Cloud’s sword, the Highwind, and for the love of God; Materia. The Materia mechanic is what really drove this game home for me. I would grind for hours to get the right Materia for the right fight and I loved it even nowadays when people hate the notion of grinding. I had the dopest selection of Materia for all situations and I couldn’t have been prouder.
Conker’s Bad Fur Day - N64
This is the game that gave me a potty mouth. This fucking squirrel was nuts. From helping a bee fuck a flower with boobs, to fighting a opera singing pile of shit, a creepy zombie level, and even a D-Day re-enactment between squirrels and Nazi teddy bears, Conker’s was Bonkers. Through all the horrible language and imagery, this game was an excellent platformer, and really got me into the N64. I guess the normal game to say you have to play on the N64 is Super Mario 64, but nope, this game all the way.
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 - Xbox 360
This series was the absolute best at getting you to invite 1-3 friends over and just having a blast slashing and shooting your way through zombies. Seriously, this is the zombie equivalent of Mario Party. I honestly sunk hours and even days into this game trying to get all the achievements. The characters are lovable, the areas are interesting, and the Finales are kickass!
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Xbox 360
Here she is. Big Momma Fantasy. The game that made me feel like a God killing demon. Skyrim, for anyone who doesn’t know, is the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series, and holy shit, I jumped into this series too late, but this is the one I started with. I’ve never spent so much hours in one day on a game then Skyrim. Playing it on a CRT TV with my iHome blasting Scary Monsters and nice sprites will stick with me until I die.
Borderlands 2 - Xbox 360
Handsome Fucking Jack is the best fucking villain of any game ever.
Nier:Automata - PC
Nier:Automata is a game about anime tiddies, androids, and huge swords, so it hits all my weak points. This game started out super intense and I wasn’t sure how I would enjoy it, but then the world opened up to me and suddenly I felt amazing being in control of 2B, the main character. Her fluid attacking animations and spacious areas to traverse and learn are intoxicating. I got lost in this game so fast. Everything in this game is polished (Besides the optimization issues) and being an android fighting machines controlled by robots is just sick as fuck. I liked the game so much I played it 3 times to get the final ending (Plus the 26 other endings. Yeah, 26 fucking endings), which holy shit, I didn't think there was a game I would enjoy playing 3 times in a row. Oh, but wait-
Bloodborne - PS4
You like Victorian architecture? You like horrible, malformed beasts? You like games that are HARD AS FUCK!? I introduce Bloodborne! I love everything about this game. From the art style to the combat, it's all golden. If you think you have what it takes, and it'll probably take a couple of times, you're gonna absolutely love this game. Oh, did I mention that you can just keep playing it into infinity or you can try your hand at PVP, or not. I sincerely hope you don't. I'm already on New Game +10
Stardew Valley - PC
So. You all know Harvest Moon, right? One of the pioneers of farming games. Want to know something cool? Stardew Valley takes everything that made Harvest Moon great and amplifies it by ten. With beautifully detailed 2D graphics, a lovable town filled with unique friends and potential partners, I played this game far more than any of the others. I've gotten quite bored of it after many, many hours now that I have oodles of money to buy anything, but just when I was about to hang up this game as done but fuck-
They introduced a multiplayer function which you can edit how much money you make from selling things, so you know I played that boy with one other person and made everything 1/4 the price so I can feel like a real farmer, struggling to make ends meet. Honestly though, if you love having a good time, this is the game to play.
Honorable Mentions:
Any Pokemon game, including Pokemon GO.
Fire Emblem: Birthright/Conquest/Revelations - In that order.
God Eater Ressurection - Giant beasts, and giant swords, truck yeah!
Overwatch - Please stop nerfing Mercy, Papa Kaplan.
No Man’s Sky - Everyone hated it, but I loved and still love it. SPACE SHOULD FEEL EMPTY
I guess I got to tag some people too... Hmm...
@point-and-click-adventure @sharkmittens @lilfoxcat Your turn!

Dungeons & Dragons
Remember playing board games? With friends? And not via Zoom, but in real life? We neither. So we decided to do the next best thing: talk about a board game, or, technically, about a tabletop RPG.
There were some obvious choices we skipped, like the Community episodes, or Stranger Things. But this obvious title we just couldn’t ignore: the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon.
Emilio loved it, Thijs... didn’t hate it. But we both agreed about one thing: the Dungeon Master is a total creep. Always popping up and disappearing again. Never helping those poor kids.
A title we both weren’t a big fan of was the D&D themed Futurama movie Bender’s Game.
We usually can’t get enough of Lord of the Rings parodies, but this one was one too many.
We enjoyed the comic DIE somewhat more, but we might be the only Kieron Gillen fans on the planet who are not that crazy about DIE.
The art in the comic, although beautifully crafted, left us both cold.
And then the board game of this episode, it’s... Warhammer Quest? Thijs’ childhood favorite, it’s D&D for kids, or - because Thijs still likes to play it sometimes - for geeks who just wanna roll some dice and kill some monsters.
And here are, as promised, some of Thijs’ miniatures that he painted all by himself!
Closing off with our ranking:

Module - Showreel and Engagement
Industry Scoping Document
Over the course of this project, I have been looking at different animation studios and trying to decide which ones I would be interested in working for once I graduate, with studios that interest me leading to greater research. I viewed a lot of showreels from different companies to sample their work, such as Factory Create, Fuzzy Duck studio, Flipbook Studio, Studio Liddell, Studio AKA, and others. These are the studios that caught my interest the most. The companies I looked at largely fit with my specialism, 2-D animation/storyboarding, with some opportunities for mixed media that would utilise my 3-D animation skills too. Other aspects of a studio’s output was taken into consideration, such as how my video editing skills could apply to studios that also function as editing agencies. But my primary goal with my choices here was to pick companies that would enable me to create storyboards and/or 2-D animation.
Bearded Fellows
Bearded Fellows Creative Agency is an animation production and video editing studio based in Bridgeworks, Manchester city centre. Watching showreels of their work, I have found that their work mostly consists of one half 2-D and 3-D animation, other half live action video editing. Many of their pieces of work are commissioned by companies as advertisements, explainer videos, educational videos, etc. Although they do produce a number of different types of stories too. The audience for their work varies from project to project, however given that they often work on advertisements, they tend to stick for general audiences, or at least the broadest audience possible. One potentially contact I found via LinkedIn was Mathew Stanners, who is a co-founder of the company and who has sat in on lectures at our university before, which I attended. When producing portfolio work to show to this company, I would have to demonstrate via my work the ability to create a forward-facing piece of work that can appeal to its intended audience. Based upon the showreels I have seen, I think the skills that would be most desired by this studio is 2-D animation, such as Toon Boom Harmony, and After Effects, given that most of their animated works are either traditional 2-D or composite shots using 2-D images. Video editing skills, such as Premiere Prom would also likely be highly desirable.
Kilogramme Animation
Kilogramme Animation Studio is a production studio based in Tib St, Manchester city centre. From watching one of their showreels, as well as watching a number of their animations on their website, I have gathered that they mostly produce 2-D animation, although they have also produced a lot of 3-D animation. They produce a range of different animation work, a number of examples from their website include: technical works they’ve produced for companies, informative works produced for local and national organisations (Transport for Greater Manchester, London Fire Brigade, etc.), commercials they’ve produced for companies (Ben and Jerry’s, BBC1, etc.), and children’s shows and shorts they’ve worked on (CITV, BBC Bitesize, etc.). A unique aspect of their company is how their employees are able to produce personal work, which get uploaded and spread via the company website. The audience for their content varies depending on the project, although they have categorised much of their work for the sake of organising it on their website, and from these I can draw some conclusions about their audience. Many of their works have to target general audiences, such as informative pieces and adverts, although they mostly seem to produce these with adults in mind. As mentioned earlier, many of their works are produced for children. I’ve been able to connect with Jon Turner, the creative director at Kilogramme, over LinkedIn. The skills I would most likely need when hoping to work for this company include being able to use 2-D and 3-D animation programs, such as Toon Boom and Maya. However, examining they broad range of their work, I’ve noticed that a lot of their work involves either motion graphics-style animation or animation that appears as if it were made using Adobe After Effects, so I thinking that learning the basics of this program will be helpful to me as well. Given the volume of work on their website that consists of short, animated loops, I thinking creating a portfolio filled with short looping animations can help bolster said portfolio immensely.
Seed Animation
Moving beyond local studios, I have also looked into studios outside of Manchester but still within the U.K. for potential. Seed Animation Studio is a London-based studio located on Brewer St, Soho. Watching their showreels, as well as an assortment of other works, I’ve found that they’ve worked on a number of different projects, from adverts to studio films and online campaigns, using an array of techniques such as: 2-D, 3-D, Mixed media involving mixing live action with animation, as well as 2-D/3-D hybrid works. One aspect of their work I think is unique is their chain animations, when the staff each creates a few second looped animation, which can then be stitched together into a larger animation conveying a particular theme or message. They’ve produced work for companies and organisations such as Gas Networks Ireland, NHS, Island Records, etc. While their audience varies depending on their projects a lot of their work, particularly their chain animations and in-house briefs, tackle subject matter that would generally draw young adult and teenage audiences, although much of their work for companies plays to more general audiences. I’ve found one potential contact over LinkedIn, Morgan Powle, a co-founder and creative director at Seed Animation. I could also contact staff members who I spoke with in the past, when I participated in the studio’s Tales from Lockdown brief. I think the skills I would need to work for this company comprise of 2-D and 3-D animation skills, with Toon Boom, Maya, Adobe Illustrator and After Effects being of particular interest. I think that given the amount of chain animations their company produces, I think creating a collection of short, looping animations will help me immensely if I were to include them in my portfolio.
Aardman Animations
Aardman Animations is an animation studio based in Bristol, which is renowned for creating well-known works such as the Wallace and Gromit franchise, Morph, Creature Comforts, as well as movies such as Chicken Run (2000), The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! (2012), Early Man (2018), etc. Their works are well known for being stop-motion animations that have a particular style to them, with the clay figures having a common style to them, particularly the eyes and mouths. In recent years, they have also gained recognition for producing a greater variety of animated works, working with other studios, teams outside of the company, and other people to create a variety of works, such as 2-D animations. Their audiences vary depending on the project, but they often aim for general audiences, making content appropriate for younger audiences while having clever and inventive writing that can hold the attention of older audiences. One potential connection I found on LinkedIn is Gavin Strange, a director and designer at Aardman. Given their greater use of 2-D and 3-D animation, I feel a good way to boost my portfolio for Aardman would be to focus on developing those skills, as well as possibly improving my stop-motion skills too. Animation tests utilising these skillsets would likely be best for my portfolio.
Rareware
Looking beyond the animation industry, there are many different corners of the entertainment industry as a whole that incorporate animation into their output, with animation playing a particularly large role in the video game industry. One such company of particular note is Rare. Rare Limited, also known as Rareware, is a video game company based in Twycross, Leicestershire. They are famous for having created beloved games such as the Donkey Kong Country series, Conker’s Bad Fur Day (2001), the Banjo-Kazooie series, the Perfect Dark series, and others. In recent times, Rare has produced Sea of Thieves (2018) as well as Battletoads (2020). Ever since they began using 2-D renders of 3-D models for the character/environment sprites in Donkey Kong Country (1994) they have focused on implementing 3-D into their games, before it became standard practice to create fully 3-D games, although they have continued to produce 2-D design work for their games, with their recent Battletoads remake being full 2-D animation. The games produced by Rareware have often targeted younger audiences, including their Donkey Kong and Banjo-Kazooie games, while some of their games, such as Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Perfect Dark, Sea of Thieves etc., have appealed more to teenage and adult audiences. When it comes to finding contacts, I managed to find one on LinkedIn, Louise O’Connor, an executive producer at Rare who’s open to talking over e-mail about hiring people to work on Everwild, a game currently in development at Rare, as well as discussing the environment and culture of the studio. Their hiring page mentions many of the positions currently open at the studio, and the skills expected from someone applying to these jobs. This involves learning how to work with animation and code, which is a skill I would need to develop if I wanted to fulfil certain jobs within their animation department. They’re also calling for art designers, which encompasses 2-D design too. I think that if I wanted to focus on applying for a job here, I would be best focusing my portfolio work on character animation and art design work.

Rules: answer 10, ask 10
1. What is a tv show/movie that you re-watch every chance you get?
I rewatch The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds like all the time.
2. Is there any animals that weird you out/scare you that are not usually seen as weird/scary?
Lizards/Geckos. Idk why they just weird me out so fucking much dude.
3. What was the first video game you ever played and what was your favorite and least favorite thing about it?
I don’t know what the first game i ever played was, but I used to play Conker’s Bad Fur Day all the time when my brother’s were at school. My favorite thing was the multiplayer, my least favorite thing was that i never got that far in the main story bc i sucked at video games when i was like 4 or 5.
4. Which of your oc’s do you relate to the most and why?
Probably this one character I haven’t decided on a name for because he’s an anti-hero. Will do anything for his family. Sarcastic, Total slob. Loves animals.
I’m still developing him, so i don’t have much more than that atm.
5. What holiday is your favorite and why?
I don’t really care much for the holidays anymore tbh, but I like all the food I get to eat at thanksgiving
6. Do you have any accessories you wear a lot/ never leave home without?
My twenty one pilots necklace and my crown ring that I always wear on my right thumb.
7. Is there any tattoos you want to get and if so why?
There’s nothing in particular, but I have thought about getting matching tattoos with my best friend. the only reason I haven’t gone through with it is because I can’t even commit to where to put a sticker, let alone something more permanent on my skin.
8. Was there any fictional characters you really looked up to as a kid?
Scooby Doo? I dressed up as him for Halloween several times growing up.
9. If you’ve ever had pets which was/is your favorite and if not is there any you want to have in the future?
My cat Smokey is my favorite cat, I’ve had her like four years and I love her and her daughter so much.
10. What tv trope is your favorite and why?
Villain to Sort of Ally? Villain to Weird Uncle? I don’t know what to call it, but I love when Villains arent like a threat anymore, but they’re still just kind of around and sometimes useful. Like they’re an asshole, but the antagonists have no more reason to kill them so they’re just there when needed.
My Questions
1. Who is your favorite villain of all time? ( from anything)
2. If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be?
3. What mythical creature do you wish actually existed?
4. What’s your least favorite movie genre?
5. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
6. What TV show character would it be the most fun to change places with for a week?
7. If you had to disappear and start a whole new life, what would you want your new life to look like?
8. What’s the worst movie trope?
9. What’s your most embarrassing childhood story?
10. Who or what, do you typically watch on YouTube and why?
