What I love too is that He Tian is playing it cool (or trying??); this has been an on-going ordeal, resolved at the highest most confrontational climax as far as the She Li thing goes…and we saw some of the boys greatest fears play out during it all.

And there’s a whole spiel I added summing up this arc but I’ll post it on my own lol…but yeah the soup thing might seem like ??? Eh? Food to kissing what??? But this absolutely felt like He Tian again trying to keep things comfortable and light after all…this. The exhaustion and fear and fury. I think, for once, He Tian had no appetite for food; who can blame him? So he tries to ease it with some reassuring praise.

And that sparks this moment for Mo because he’s already said he thinks (knows) that he can do better, and he’s not going to hide out of fear anymore…not when it comes to He Tian —

and especially not after that moment of locking eyes when He Tian just…lets LOOSE on She Li. Let loose on that darkness Mo and He Tian himself have acknowledged is there and that Tian fully leaned into because while I don’t think He Tian has ever willingly chosen violence per say (it’s what’s been bred into him, it’s what he knows, but I don’t think he enjoys it), he absolutely gave in to everything to protect Mo Guanshan, even if it meant losing to that darkness, that fear he’s had, that he’d be exactly what he accused his family of. Not a protector, but a perpetrator. A fake. A monster.

It certainly calls for a precious moment just for THEM, they’ve been out and about with little time to celebrate just being close and the little wins they’ve managed to squeeze out; of course they go to his room, of course it can’t wait anymore!! (poor Mama Mo is going to be doing her own processing already!!)

Yeah it was absolutely overwhelming, with He Tian this whole time taking it upon himself to send Mo home and out of dodge - to confront She Li alone and settle things. But Mo was with him every turn; Mo refused to abandon He Tian. He went in knowing how She Li operates, what he would do to him - and they fought together and suddenly they’re HOME, they’re facing his mom, they have to focus on the AFTER, because it’s finally *after*. No wonder that baby was shaking!! But he’s never been more sure in his life, I’ll bet. Mo isn’t afraid, he’s not ashamed!

He just wants to be by He Tian’s side…not feeling like a failure, or a dog, or lesser than…but as someone treasured by their important person. This part, right here —

— is just for them, for now. Finally.

What a whammy of a chapter.

it’s not just that guan shan kissed him, it’s the fact that he was so overwhelmed by he tian in general that he felt he had no choice but to grab him and drag him to his bedroom so he could have him to himself for just a moment, just a precious second, and yes his mother saw them leaving the kitchen together but that doesn’t matter because guan shan gets to have he tian for just a precious second after the shitstorm that has been the last couple of days — and he tian lets him because, well, of course he does and because he’d risk it all before he wouldn’t let guan shan have him in all the ways he so desperately wants him even if it’s new to them and doesn’t come easily or naturally. and that’s. that’s love folks. that’s a wrap. that’s a goddamn fucking wrap.

All of the fairies in Cot’s village have told him that he’s a workaholic with no understanding of his own limits. He usually waves them off, too focused on his potion crafting to really care about what they’re saying.

But when he falls inside your basket, he’s vividly aware of how stupid he is for ignoring his own limitations. He had flown too far to find some herbs and now he’s stuck in a human’s basket. He really doesn’t want to know what you’ll do to him, but he’s too tired to fly away.

Maybe you’ll put him in a jar. Or rip off his wings. Or feed him to your dog. Or something. Thousands and thousands of negative thoughts flood his head as he looks up at you, a mixture of wariness and exhaustion present on his face.

The last thing he expects is for you to push a few berries his way. The sweet, tantalizing scent of the berries makes Cot’s mouth water. His hunger wins over caution as he chows down on your gift. He doesn’t think he’s ever tasted anything so delicious. 

Once he’s done eating, Cot decides that you’re actually really, really nice. The smile on your face as you watch him eat makes his heart feel all fuzzy and warm. Your voice when you talk to him is really pretty, too.

After that, Cot begins to linger around you. At first, it’s purely to repay you! You were so nice to him, so of course he wants to pay that forward. He helps you take care of your garden and helps you clean your house, eager to please you. 

As he continues to assist you in any way he can, Cot can’t help but love spending time with you. It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s just… nice to be with you. In fact, he spends most of his time with you, making himself comfy in the dollhouse you got for him. And when he has to go back to the Fae Realm, all he can think about is you as he goes about his tasks.

He doesn’t really mind it, though. He likes thinking about you.

But then he has a thought. Maybe it’ll be better if you’re with him, always. When he sees you hanging out with your friends on his visit to the human realm, this thought spirals out of control until it becomes something dark and possessive and all-consuming.

Yeah, it really will be better if you're always with him.

He begins to gift you enchanted tea leaves from the Fae Realm, determined to slowly transform you into someone who’s more fae than human. Then, he gifts you a lovely necklace, enchanted with a piece of his magic – a piece of him. 

You gratefully accept the necklace, unaware of the enchantment on it – an enchantment to ensure that all your friends are too sick to ever spend time with you because he’s the only one you’ll ever need.

And as Cot sets his plan, you’ll be none the wiser. After all, why would you ever suspect your cute, tiny fairy friend? He’s just so adorable and harmless, you know?
