fall anime watch list
a new thing on this blog! for the next foreseeable future, I will be posting my seasonal watch list as well as thoughts (through the season) and scores (at the end). this certainly isn’t going to turn into a ‘review blog’ or anything of the sort and will still primarily be bnha, bleach, and other finished-anime focused. i just watch a lot of seasonal series and not all of them generate the content that your typical WSJ series does lol.
i’ve included a read more link to minimize clogging dashes, but if you don’t want to see these posts, you can blacklist the tag ‘#rotator seasonal thoughts’. you can also blacklist ‘#rotator thoughts’ which includes all of my text posts.
since we have another few days/weeks until most start to air, for now here is my watch list in no particular order and some brief first impressions based on trailers/synopses under the cut:
Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (aka That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime)
mostly watching for the hype, don’t have high expectations as i’m not a huge isekai light novel fan bc they’re just so generic and boring. the gimmick is weird enough that if the comedy works, i’m in.
Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yome wo Minai
another ‘could be good, could be very very bad’ pick. seems like a set up for an ecchi but the genre is comedy/school/romance? whatever ‘puberty syndrome’ is seems pretty horny to me idk
Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara
I’M SO HYPED FOR THIS. PA Works is one of my favorite studios and this is an original! the art looks gorgeous and i am a huge sucker for coming of age stories. sign. me. up.
Golden Kamuy 2nd season
tbh i still haven’t finished the first season but i’m planning to this week. very interesting and dynamic characters with a serious dedication to it’s history. also don’t let the memes of the bad CG bear scare you off bc the rest of the animation is fine.
Yagate Kimi ni Naru (aka Bloom Into You)
pure high school shoujo ai. girl wants to fall in love, but isn’t attracted to boys and thinks something is wrong with her until a girl confesses. mmmmm gimme that relatable content
Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san (aka Ms. Vampire Who Lives In My Neighborhood)
some part of me never grew out of my twilight phase so i automatically have to check out any vampire series. BUT this actually seems pretty cute and silly. it’s based on a 4-koma manga so think of saiki k, lucky star, pop team epic, etc.
RErideD: Tokigoe no Derrida (aka RERideD: Derrida Who Lept Through Time)
apparently the first four episodes already aired on Crunchyroll but i haven’t seen them yet. seems like an interesting sci-fi and there’s a lot of hype around it despite mixed reviews based on the first few eps
Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu
KyoAni’s back at it again with more high school bishi sports drama! Free kind of lost me in the second season and i never picked it back up but i did learn a lot about swimming lol. idk anything about archery other than from playing wii sports resort (ya i know) so if anything it could be...educational?
Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (aka Run with the Wind)
another one of my most anticipated series. Production IG is well known for doing some renowned sports anime so i’m eager to see their more action-oriented sports drama translate into a sport based on individual competition. the characters seem interesting and i’m always interested in stories about rag-tag groups forming a strong team.
Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu
ooof. have to check it out just to rule it out, but this is probably just going to be straight boys love fetishization.
Jingai-san no Yome
another cute and silly 4-koma short-form show. i’ve been meaning to read the manga for some time now, so this will do.
Sono Toki, Kanojo wa
the synopsis and trailer tells us almost nothing, other than it’s a drama/romance that centers on 4 women of various ages. the mystery of what this encompasses (it’s an original), as well as the beautiful, however nontraditional, art style solidifies this as a must-watch for me.
Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san
skeletons, manga, comedy. what else is there to say?
Wei, Kanjian Erduo La! (aka Hora, Mimi ga Mieteru yo!)
short-form boys love based on a Chinese web manga about a guy and his cat-boy roommate. could be weird, could be cute, could be silly, could be dropped. there’s only one way of finding out! this actually started airing back in august but is technically a fall series and i havent started watching it anyways.
Banana Fish (continuing from summer)
if you haven’t been watching Banana Fish, start now
the fall season is strangely PACKED, especially since i only finished like four series from this summer, but let’s face it fall is always hype. there’s also a lot of short-form! I usually drop up to half of my watch list by ep 4, so i’m interested to see (as always) which fail my expectations or completely surprise me.
