ok ok ok so we just go nu!who ages, NOT counting audios just straight TV canon and not touching Dobby: 10 aged in real time from 9, so 903/904 by Journey's End. Call it 904 'cos at End of Time he gives his age as 906 just before regenerating. Impossible Astronaut 11 gives his Young age as 908, Older age as 1103. Town called Mercy: 1200 Day of the Doctor he says he's lost track and 1200-odd, so we're gonna get a bit nelous because we dont' know how long he was mourning amy and rory. Call it a margin of error of about 10 years give ortake. We'll assume he's aged in real time like 10 did, and split the difference so call it 5 years mourning and 2 for the latter half of S33/S34/specials. 1208. By the end of 11's reign, he'd been on Trenzalore for 900 years. 2108. We know we're ballparked 'cos 12 says in deep breath he's over 2k years old. Skipping the time in stasis in before the flood, because time didn't pass for him, so call it 2110 by Heaven Sent. Now. This is where it gets messy. Because arguably he didn't age in the confession dial, BUT that time did pass for him in a very real sense mentally. But it also reset. But he also recalls all of it. But he's also still very clearly still experiencing Clara's death as a fresh event. So you can call his age 4,500,002,110 or 2110. After that you have Husbands of River Song, 24 years on Darillium. 4,500,002,134 / 2134 At some point 12 takes on the obligation of guarding Missy, and he's been at the uni for 50 years (some say 70, let's stick with the confirmed number) by Smile. 4,500,002,184/ 2184. Presumably Nardole's rebuilding occurred during Darillium as River sicced him on the Doctor, and he most likely went from there straight to Missy so we don't necessarily have to add any intervening years here.

Ageing in real time again: 1 for s10. 4,500,002,185/ 2185 Thirteen has completely lost count, so we go in real time and add a couple for S38/39, In Revolution she's spent " a rough few decades" so call it 30 to ballpark. 4,500,002,217/ 2217. Call it another couple of years for before / covering Flux and we get 4,500,002,219/ 2219. so 1315 years have passed for the Doctor over Donna's 15 (or 4,500,001,315 if you count Heaven Sent.)

My 2020 Writing Year in Review

Looking back on 2020, I felt like I didn’t actually write that much. The whole summer, for example, when I was neck-deep in my museum reopening and dealing with the stress of teaching summer camps, I wrote *nothing*. Or practically nothing, anyway.

But according to my writing tracking spreadsheet (and yes, I do have a spreadsheet, though I credit author Jennifer Armintrout with the template), I have written 134,975 words! Not all published, of course, since I’ve still got several WIPs that I’m working on (of course).

But here’s a summary of what I’ve written and published this year.

Dear Mia (3396 words): This is a short Cullistair fic that is set in the same universe as my longfic, in my series Love By Any Other Name, which details Cullen and Alistair’s relationship prior to the longfic and the fic that it’s based on. I love the bit in DAI where Mia pries into Cullen’s romantic life, and I wanted to show that with his relationship with Alistair. Cullen ends up being pretty sappy, and it totally worked for me.

Happily Ever After (1365 words): Based on a prompt about Alistair wanting to wake up his love with a kiss like in the fairy tales, this Cullistair fic turned into the absolute fluffiest thing I have ever written in my entire writing life. I still kind of tear up at the sweet, loving, understanding relationship between these two, who have been my OTP for two years now (and counting)!

Guarding Alistair (12,357 words): The idea for this one came from a Cullebastian bodyguard!AU fic written by cullenlovesmen. I thought that canonically nontraditional King Alistair + canonically hyperprotective Commander Cullen = an excellent use of the bodyguard trope, with a dose of my favorite near-death-experience-love-realization/confession trope. One of my few modern AU fics, I am particularly proud of this one.

The Agony of Love (10,272 words): After Guarding Alistair, I wanted to see the opposite situation, where Alistair nearly died and Cullen was left to worry. This one quickly took their relationship in a different direction; more friends-with-benefits than OTP/true love at first. But with my fave trope near-death-experience-love-realization/confession, Cullen realizes just how much he’s come to care about Alistair. This one’s intense, but with a happy ending!

Spoilers (2609 words): This one is actually two versions of the same prompt about how the DAI crew learns about Cullen and Alistair’s relationship. In both versions, I used the ol’ accidentally-reveal-our-secret-relationship trope, both via Cullen, but in two vastly different ways. I couldn’t help it; I wrote out one, and then had a different idea that I had to write out, too, so I posed both. Sort of a choose your own adventure fic. I liked them both, but I think I liked the second one more :)

Rivalry (2184 words): Another prompt fic, this time from a list I posted here on Tumblr: “I’m only here to establish an alibi.” A prank gets Alistair on Morrigan’s bad side, and in an attempt to establish his innocence, he begs Cullen for an alibi. Cullen obliges, but in a way neither of them expect. Cute, silly, and tbh based on my least favorite interpretation of Alistair and Morrigan’s relationship, but if the threat of Morrigan’s wrath can’t get those two oblivious men together, what can? (Lots, as evidenced by this post, but the cliche phrase, so let me have this.)

Between Love and Hate (2841 words): I chose my own prompt (“Shut up, you’re sick. Just let me take care of you already”) to write for Ellinor and Cullen in @bitchesofostwick​ and @veridium​‘s college AU. I love the college AU and Isabella and Kayley all so much, and I needed to write some sweet, gooey fluff for Cullinor. They liked it, and I had a blast, so it served it’s purpose 🥰

Rescue (2723 words): At the risk of sounding like a bit of a weirdo, the idea for this fic came to me in, not quite a dream but that fuzzy time between sleep and waking. King Alistair is kidnapped and held for ransom; after almost a month, he starts to believe his captors that a rescue isn’t coming. Angsty, but with a happy ending (of course)!

Puppy Love (34,085 words): The fic that got me through quarantine. Based on a mutual’s post about a modern!AU veterinarian!Cullen, this intended one-shot that started as a sort of love letter to my former vet morphed into a rather beautiful story about grief, trauma, recovery, a second chance at love, and of course, puppies. Alistair’s mabari needs has an unexplained infection and Alistair gets a bit of a crush on their new vet. I’m so pleased with how this one turned out, even if I cannot write a simple fluffy one-shot about mabari without it turning into a fic about grief and loss and (hu)man’s best friend. Angsty as hell, but with a super sweet, fluffy ending!

Roses and Arrows (9665 words): My first Zevistair fic, written for the Black Emporium rare pair exchange. I had almost too much leeway with this fic and had a really difficult time getting a handle on it. I don’t know if that was because it was a brand-new pairing for me as a writer (though one I devour as a reader bc they’re just. So. Good! Together) or the pandemic (likely) or just a form of writer’s block/lack of ideas, but I had to finish this one at the last minute (even with an extension) and so there are bits that I still wish weren’t so rushed. But for a first shot at Zevistair, I’m proud of it. And my recipient liked it, which is most important.

Alone in the After (3262 words): My first truly sad fic. Major character death: Alistair dies. He escapes the Fade, but not without suffering a fatal injury, and Cullen has to figure out how to go on without him. Sad, tragic, but I was in a weird mood (pandemic?) and needed to read/write a beautiful death scene. I think I did all right with this one.

I also worked quite a bit on several WIPs. Not all of them are worth mentioning, but I am excited to publish several of them, and hope to get there in 2021.

Of Love and Duty (5529 words in 2020, WIP): My first DA and Cullistair fic. It’s actually a fic of a fic, where Alistair and Cullen adopted an orphaned baby girl who Alistair saved from darkspawn, only now she’s a tantruming toddler and the Inquisition is at the Exalted Council. It’s been a year and a half now since I’ve published a chapter (😭), but I made a lot of progress during and after NaNo, and I will (I will!) publish the WIP chapter soon! And then onward and upward! I shall not surrender! It will be finished!

And Baby Makes ... (7665 words in 2020, WIP): The first ever couple (aside from my own Warden and Alistair) that intrigued me enough to think about writing fic was Morrigan/Alistair. There’s something about their bickering that makes me shout, “Just fuck already!” at certain banters in DAO. This will be a rather epic fic, with one chapter each in Alistair’s, Morrigan’s, and (ideally) Kieran’s POV. Warden Alistair arrives at Skyhold and finds Morrigan and their son. Ten years earlier, they were ... well, they were intimate, and he chose to do the ritual with her. He loved her, and told her so that night, but she disappeared after the fall of the archdemon. He went after her and just missed her at the eluvian (in Witch Hunt). Now they have a son, and his feelings for them both are complicated. Morrigan chooses to complicate things further after almost losing him at Adamant, and Kieran just wants them all to be a family. I really love this one, but I won’t work on it more until I at least publish the next chapter of Of Love and Duty.

Out of Time (working title; 7000 words in 2020, WIP): The complement to Alone in the After, since I’ve been craving still more tragedy. In the battle in the Arbor Wilds, Cullen is poisoned by red lyrium. He and Alistair have little time left, and once again Alistair is left behind to try to go on after the loss of someone he cares for. Deeply tragic, angsty af, without a happy ending. This one is close to done, and I want to publish it! Soon.

Untitled Cullen/Josie prompt fic (785 words in 2020, WIP): My first irl DA friend, who noticed my Alistair phone case and thus began our friendship, suggested a prompt from one of those prompt lists for Cullen/Josie: “Oh look! A shooting star! Quick, make a wish!” These two are my #2 OTP after Cullistair; I’ve only written two one-shots for them so far, but I adore digging into their relationship, which is full of oppositions and contradictions. They are both workaholics, fiercely loyal, and deeply romantic, and I love writing them. One day I will finish my sequel(s) to Strength and Stubbornness and fill out the rest of my slow burn series for them (War and Peace, lol)!

Overall, 2020 wasn’t bad as far as writing goes. Here’s hoping 2021 will lead to serious progress on my longfic and maybe some (all?) of these others, too!

Hey!Say!JUMP’s Yamada Ryosuke san and Nakajima Yuto san graced our magazine [on this issue]. It is the first time we had this pair on the cover of anan. As sweet as chocolate, we captured the moment when they melted together for the cover gravure. It will bring out your memories of chocolate.

When he heard that this issue’s theme is chocolate, “I love it” Yamada Ryosuke san replied immediately. “There’s one type I especially like. It is a penguin shaped milk chocolate that has a bitter caramel centre; it’s a luxury item that costs 300 yen each. Since the filming of “Moeyo Ken” was really tough, when I returned to the hotel after filming, I would treat myself to 1 piece to encourage myself. On the days where I had really difficult sword fighting scenes, I ate 2 (laughs). I like it that much. If I have to give a reverse Valentine gift to hardworking women? I will use good whiskey to make a highball and spend the time together with her. Since that is someone I like, I can send my thoughts straightly. I am not very good with the type that plays games. I don’t understand people who will not confess their love because they are afraid of being turned down, when they cannot suppress their feelings in the first place.

I played Yoshimori Ryoichi in “Kiokuya: Anata wo Wasurenai”. There were scenes where I cannot hold back my feelings. “The script for that scene said ‘1 tear roll down the face’, but I cried too much. Although it was NG at one point, in the end, that was the cut that was used. Ryoichi is a blend of Yuto and I. [Ryoich’s] ridiculously earnest part is Yuto’s and the taking action once he decided part is mine. His reaction to each thing that happened in front of him was interesting to play. I don’t need Kiokuya, who can erase people’s memories. There are no memories I want to erase; it’s just too painful if I lost [the memory] of the time I spent with the group. It spanned more than half of my life and there is nothing more fun than this.”

Nakajima Yuto

In the drama “Boku ha Doko Kara”, Takeuchi Kaoru, who has the ability to copy other people’s thoughts when he writes their texts, is played by Nakajima Yuto san. “Kaoru wanted to be a novelist, but thanks to his ability, he could not write his own work. ‘What am I’ was something that confused him. In order to show that side, I asked myself the same question; didn’t I become someone who wanted to find himself? I was grateful that I could make my own choices and enjoyed my own growth process. Although having the special power was troublesome to Kaoru, I would like to have a special power. Teleportation, shapeshifting, etc will be cool. I think I will transform into someone nobody knows and walk around the city a lot.

I often received Valentine’s chocolates from the staff on the film set. “They could be expensive and the person might have lined up at the shop for a long time to get them. When I think about that, I am really thankful for [the gift]. If I were to give someone [chocolates], I will give them classy and delicate chocolates. The type where there are many flavours and are lined up one-by-one [in the box]. That way, you can eat without getting bored, and that’s how I like it too. You can hold that and take a plunge to confess in a place where there are lots of people. Since you can use the power from the people around you who would say, “do your best!” (laughs) Right now, is there someone who would buy nice chocolates for me? I think it is important to set rewards. Especially when I am so busy with work and I start to lose track of myself, spoiling me a little will bring a lot of help to me. I think giving chocolates to someone who worked really hard as a reward is great.”

Much like he didn’t plan to fall from Heaven, Crowley certainly did not plan to fall for Aziraphale. It was the same thing at its core, really. In Heaven, he hung around with the wrong crowd. On Earth, he hung around with a certain angel way too often. The only difference, to be completely frank, was that he actively chose to do the latter, whilst he had only sort of went along with the former.

Well, that, and the fact that he thoroughly enjoyed time spent with the angel.
