like. that symbol there on the sign line, which is used in our cult. is it actually a SIGNATURE? a name?? of narinder? the lamb? of death itself? rotating this one

#emma posts #I used to get the holiday Barbie ornament every year as a kid for Christmas #I can’t remember what my brothers got but my dad got trains #I think my mom just got whatever because pretty #now she decorates the living room tree all aesthetic #the basement tree gets the sentimental ones we chose to put up that year #that sounds worse than it is when I say it like that #it’s a nice basement! my parents decked out the main part over my childhood #it started out as brick and concrete but the main area looks way better now!#the laundry room and furnace and stuff are still bare bones but whatever. no one else sees those #not that the basement is as aesthetic as upstairs #the basement living room looks great though #there’s just a lot of storage shelves around it #why am I talking about the basement? I meant to talk about Christmas Barbie #I didn’t get the actual dolls though. just the ornaments. which is fair. I had other Barbies #only had two Kens though so it was like the bachelor #would have been way easier if I knew what lesbians were. one beach Barbie was totally a lesbian though. booted up the ten year old ipod that my dad let us play with in middle school & that when i was eleven i was obsessed with bc my parents were SUPER stringent re: screen time but they let me go nuts with this bc it was just full of my dad’s favorite music (and also some games that i suspect they didn’t know about + that i would play in bed as my Secret Silly Tweenage Rebellion), and immediately it hit me with this

Milestone Monday

Today, December 11th, we celebrate the birthday of acclaimed poet Keith Waldrop (1932-2023). Waldrop was a prominent voice in American poetry and renowned translator of French literature. He was known for writing poetry that expressed a fascination with the world and philosophical perspectives. Waldrop met his wife Rosmarie (b. 1935) while stationed in Germany during the 1950’s and the two established Burning Deck Press in 1961 after settling in Providence, RI. The press was committed to publishing experimental poetry and prose for fifty-six years and closed in 2017.

In honor of Waldrop’s birthday, we’re sharing Letters from Rosmarie & Keith Waldrop. Published in 1970 by Burning Deck in an edition of 500 copies, Letters from Rosmarie & Keith Waldrop is a collection of concrete poetry that plays with the visual elements of typography. The couple collaborated on the book, alternating the authorship of each page to create a delightful conversation and graphic menagerie. Special Collections holds several of Keith and Rosmarie’s collaborations and over 120 Burning imprints accessible here.

Girl help I've become a trekie a few decades late.

#in other news im still hysterical over yhe movies (which are the only ones ive seen i have not seen the og series yet lol)#but i cannot belive chekov gets brain damage in 2 of the 6 movies #thats ONE THIRD OF THE TIME GUYS #how is he still alive #and also whenever this happens he just.#goes to work the very same day as soon as he wakes up????#in the fourth one i get it #sure he just fell off a military ship onto straight concrete and burst blood vessels in his brain #and almost got a hole drilled into his skull #and only woke up after bones used his weird little machine to fix it #but he doesn't have time to worry about that #theyre outlaws at the moment with only them aboard yhe ship its all hanfs on deck of course he has to go back to work as soon as he gets up #BUT THE SECOND MOVIE???#not only should he take a break after getting mind controlled via deadly brain worms #THEY SHOULD NOT LET HIM HAVE ACCESS TO SHIP EQUIPMENT #the man could still be brainwashed!#or if not that fighting the headache of all time #do NOT let him shoot the missiles after that!!!!#anyways scotty getting a concussion after walking straight into a pole was the most disrespectful thing that happened in the 5th movie #at least chekov gets some dignity when he sustains massive brain trauma!#scotty just #walks into a pole #star trek #star trek: tos #the original series #pavel chekov #hikaru sulu #montgomery scott #art #fanart

Another document with almost no text in it (that whole list is either: thousands of words OR three paragraphs/a vague outline/incoherent notes, no inbetween) - BUT

As I told @emi--rose on a video call last night, for the moment I'm setting Izzy way over there, probably (my internal irritation about the fact that at some point I will end up writing S2 Izzy is immense btw) - and focusing on and intertwining two things:

Ed doing repair with the rest of the crew - both in the literal "fixing things on the boat" way and in the (re)building relationships way

Ed and Stede actually going slow (slow for them, we're talking days, not weeks) and what the hell does that look like, like yearning where they both know it's yearning

I'm at this stage where I have notes and ideas but not yet what I think of as an "entry point" - something I've learned about my writing process is that I can sort of noodle on an idea indefinitely and that I need a specific image or chunk of dialogue or narration before I can actually get going. I feel like I'm in a holding pattern with this idea until something clicks like that, but I feel weirdly confident that it will.
