Sophomore Spring Classes!

I realize that I already posted about what classes I was planning on taking this semester after course selection last semester, but as always, my schedule has shifted since then. So, I decided to give an updated overview of my classes and my impressions so far :)

KOR102: Introduction to Korean

Introduction to Korean is a year-long course and KOR102 is the second semester. I am really glad that I was able to take this class and it's incredible to see how we are building on knowledge from last semester. Also, Professor Massey is AMAZING.

FRN270: Language and Identity

In this class, we delve into the relationship between language and identity, exploring topics such as different accents, multilingualism, and francophone regions. This class is very grammar oriented and challenging, but I have enjoyed it thus far. As this is an upper 200 level class, it is quite small, only six people.

CSC220: Advanced Programming Techniques

This class, as the name implies, focuses on programming techniques. So far, we have focused on HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, but we will move more into Node.js and Mongo later on in the course. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to be creative with my programming and find solutions to coding problems.

CLT150: Art of Translation

This is the gateway course to the translation concentration, which I am interested in currently. Each week, a different lecturer, each of whom is active in the field, comes to present and we write a short 300-500 word response paper due at the end of the week. It's a pretty low stress 2 credit pass/fail class, though the downside of it is that it is 7-9 pm on Mondays.

CSC250: Theory of Computation 

This class is one of the core classes required for the computer science major and it is math-focused, more specifically Discrete Math (which is a prereq). It is definitely a challenging class, however, I've been able to get through it thus far through the help of office hours and my study buddy.
