this is so stupid but here’s a little comic i made for a little bingo au me and @twisted-tales-told came up with a few weeks ago. pretty much just the idea that jason needed a cover at some point and stumbled in on bingo night and was quickly adopted by the little old ladies there. now he plays every friday and has beef with dora and gets sent home with banana bread :) clara is trying to set him up with her grandson and all of her problems with her land lord have mysteriously been solved :))

being involved in his community is very important to jason and he loves seeing them host community events bc it feels like his home is healing

bonus: none of the bats have the faintest idea what Jason does in his spare time aside from babs and dick is so butthurt he wasn’t invited (not pictured: nightwing outside the bingo hall window looking in look a kicked puppy while jason flips him off)

The "you can crash on my couch anytime" to "can I live in your house and be your dog" pipeline is absolutely incredible. Remember when he got flustered at the idea of a sexy rat?

Watching like Ponyboy

Both of these did show with other movies Gidget goes to Rome and Muscle beach party, but I’m going to count the two on screen. Might watch the others for fun.

Honest review? Give them a watch! Hustler drags a bit in the middle, and Beach blanket you might want some caffeine (or some alcohol). They’re great for different reasons, ones a great study and the other is great fun!

The Hustler is about, well a hustler, a pool shark who plays for money and has far too big of an ego. He wants to make it big and win against the top player on principle but often gets in the way of himself. When he gets entangled with a woman from the bus station, they both re-evaluate their lives.

I can see Pony enjoying it, it’s about a Tuff guy like the Greasers, sure he Hustles and he’s rough but he’s got a good heart. He also longs for more; doesn’t see his entire life in small time games— that’s something pony would definitely latch himself onto. The want for something more.

I don’t think pony’s been established to be crazy for Paul Newman in the book besides seeing one of his movies— but I can see him liking a ton of his movies. Same for Marlon Brando and James Dean. (All of the gang really. All the tuff stuff.)

Beach Blanket Bingo is a hell of a movie. “I dunno John, one a them beach movies, they made a ton of em.” You can say that again…

This is just the beach party series not even the genre!

It’s a real cheese fest but it’s a great goofy 60s movie, very farcical. Pony was right it’s a bunch of good looking chicks and swingin’ songs and good laughs. Mainly… but there is so many subplots in this movie I would sound insane. There’s a mermaid. There’s a crazy agent. There’s skydiving. No surfing for a series about surfers and actually very little of uh…. That good ol’ beach blanket bingo going on

Interestingly by the time the guys slip in through the fence it’s actually about the last 16 minutes of the movie!! I don’t think they counted on people being absolutely crazy like me and watching through or someone who knows older movies- it’s just the background you’re supposed to focus on the scene anyway lol.

But it was also the nightly double so there was still Muscle beach party after.

I can only do one clip but I have the other great one of Buster Keaton and the bikini girl lol.

There is something to be said about how the sort of? I can’t even say rivals but the other group is a Biker gang called the Rats and they’re much more slapstick goofy and often treated horribly. Perhaps that could be some comentary Pony would stick onto, seeing guys who are similar to those he runs with the butt of the joke/facing ire just for being somewhere.

However maybe they did something in earlier movies to warrant it and it’s just not that deep in this case they’re goofy movies. But hey—

I think in this case they’re more watch them because it’s something to do movies for the gang, They’re popcorn flicks anyways but socs might enjoy them more/see themselves reflected more. However I think pony likes them a little more than the rest of the gang lol
