Hell and High Water: CHAND!! OH MY GOD. HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL!!
Song of the Crimson Nile: So, once upon a time there's this man named Livius, but then there are Ramesses and Set also
Chasing You 2: Still Alexander. I mean...his cgs are way too hot compared with the first book
Love, Sin & Evil: Tony is still the best I guess?
W Time Catcher: THERE'S LUCIEN...BUT WAIT, THERE ARE RENATO AND ONYX ALSO.
Kali: Flame of Samsara: No need to choose another LI, just RAM my baby
Garden of Eden: Seonghwa <33
Soulless: Walter is such a softie baby, my heart melts for his big puppy eyes. but then there's this bickering man named Vincent 🤭
Astrea's Broken Heart: Not sure which LI i'm going to end up with. I mean, they're all gorgeous!! the closest one may be Raphael??
Heaven's Secret: Requiem: GREG AND CAIN. I'M TORN BETWEEN THEM!
7 Brothers: still having my eyes on the sweet vanilla Grant
And the Haze Will Take Us: I laid my eyes on Ozar (of course) and Volot
The Thunderstorms Saga: I might pursue Tai in this book. TOO BAD, THEY DON'T MAKE LADY TENNERLY AS AN LI.

Interesting article, I wish me MOC were spotlighted lik a lot of these "white boys of the months"who can do 1 project and suddently are everywhere.
This was a VERY well-written article Anon! I enjoyed reading it! 😊 It really gave food for thought.
First off, I just wanna say that the Michael B. Jordan erasure is just.... 🥴 Seriously?? How are you all gonna act like this man doesn't exist??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway...
I really do think that there are a lot of factors that play into 1) why there are so few "movie stars" of the younger generation these days, and 2) why there's such a lack of diversity.
Chiiiiiile....You're gonna need to take a seat, cuz I's got THANGS to say on this one! It's gonna be a long one lol. 🤣
Tumblr media
RE: Movie Stars....
I think the reasons are:
We are living in a different age from the 90s. People need to keep in mind that "the 90s" was at least 30 years ago. Things have changed. People have changed.
The invention of social media, more online "presence" (something that wasn't around much in the 90s) has also played a role
Actors these days aren't living in the age of Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Denzel, or even Leo DiCaprio were when they were making it big. I don't think you can even really compare them.
I also feel like Hollywood is more so about IPs and less about nurturing movie stars. We're living in a post-Marvel world, and for a LONG time it's been the IP (not the ACTOR) that is selling these films. I blame Hollywood for placing emphasis on nostalgic films, "reboots", and IP-heavy films in order to guarantee a sure success at the box office, as opposed to nurturing actors to become movie stars. Tom Cruise didn't become an A-List movie star overnight. None of those A-list actors did. I think people tend to forget that! You have to give many of these younger actors some TIME.
Did I mention social media?? To me, social media has sort of taken away the aspect of "mystery" and "unattainability" that a lot of movie stars and A-List actors had back in the day. Now days, fans have their favorite actors at their fingertips, and they can even comment and interact w/them on social media. That was NOT a thing 30 years ago.
Being more "relatable" to fans is more of a thing than it was 30 years ago. If you're so "relatable" to fans now days, fans start to see you on THEIR level, and it might be hard to view you as a "movie star" when you're so down to earth and "relatable" Lol. 😅 Idk...just saying. You almost need an air of snobbery lol. 😅
RE: Lack of Diversity....
First of all, let's be honest, Hollywood has ALWAYS struggled in this department. 😒🙄 The article is right though, for a while there, it seemed like HW was making a turn for the better.... With films coming out staring actors like Mahershala Ali, Daniel Kaluuya, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, etc.
What happened?? Well, let's see shall we? Umm...First of all, Chadwick Boseman DIED. 😭 I actually saw him getting to the level of Will Smith if he had stayed alive, because he was just so darn likeable, and a VERY good actor.
Ummm....Jonathan Majors had assault charges... 😭 Yet ANOTHER talented Black male actor who was starting to get a lot of hype and attention, and was even starting to gain the label from women as "hot", even though he has a Butter Face lol. 😅🤣 But charges of assaulting your gf don't seem to go over too well when you're trying to make it "big" in Hollywood. 🥴
Rege Jean Page was another one who was labeled HOT (and he IS!) after Bridgerton aired. I was excited for him too, but then, his career seemed to take a turn for the worst after he no longer was on "Bridgerton". He still has a chance though to turn this around lol... But yea....
Kelvin Harrison Jr. is super talented imo, but I feel like he needs some more bigger films (he wasn't really the main focus in "Elvis" ) under his belt in order to get more girls to notice him. I remember that he was supposed to be in Euphoria (which could have gotten him more exposure) but then he dropped out all of a sudden (maybe due to filming conflicts w/another project).
My pick to lead the way is still Michael B. Jordan. Women LOVE him! 🥰 He's hot as idk what, he's charming, and he's been in large films, and even made his directorial debut with "Creed 3"! 😁
Daniel Kaluuya is also a great pick as well... But do women really "sweat" him like that?? Idk lol... 👀 You kinda need someone who has some sex appeal. I'm sorry, but when I see Daniel, I see a good actor, but for some reason, he kinda lacks that "something" that makes me say: "Ooooo yeaaa.... I wanna get with him for one night" lol. 🤣 I'm sorry, but that is probably what is lacking lol....for ME anyway. He's a good actor though!
Another thing...Do young black women go ga-ga over actors like that? Serious question. 🤔 I always feel like as a community, we as black women tend to go HAM for the musical artists. I remember growing up I always felt like I was kind of like an anomaly cuz I always loved and crushed on the ACTORS way more than I crushed on male music artists lol. 😅 I feel like it's kinda rare in the black community for us as women (or young girls) to be crushing on male actors like that. I always felt kind of alone in that regard. Thank goodness I had a small group of other black friends around my age who felt the same way I did and shared my love of film. 🥰 (I might make a poll out of this to see what others think)
I kind of feel like SOME sectors of the population (i.e. white girls) tend to be more of the obsessive types when it comes to "internet boyfriends" lol. There are some who just fangirl over guys more than others it seems. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Some segments of the population tend to be way more obsessive with the fangirling and the fanfic writing, the going-to-see-a-movie-10x-because-so-and-so-is-in-it.
I also feel like Hollywood tends to push certain actors with a certain look, and that look very rarely includes black (or moc) men.
I think Dev Patel is promising.... So are Henry Golding, Charles Melton, and Anthony Ramos. I also think that what makes a "movie star" isn't always just the movie, but also what you push them into doing. Tom Holland didn't become a movie star JUST because he played Spiderman. I mean, that certainly HELPED (don't get me wrong lol), but he also became a movie star because he was pushed into various different avenues of promotion for the film when it came out. Lip Sync Battle, radio interviews, TONS Of ComicCon appearances and Meet and Greets. I feel like Hollywood doesn't really NURTURE black male actors like this in order to become movie stars. You kind of have to be EVERYWHERE for a little while so that people will come to know you. THAT is how you become a movie star. It's not just the movie, it's all of the other little things that go along with it. And I don't see Hollywood doing that for black male actors. Some black films aren't even given HALF the amount of global press tour that white films are given. Just saying...
It's interesting that Pedro Pascal was mentioned, cuz a lot of women sweat him and he's well into his 40s. Very interesting (and good) point!
Sorry for this lengthy discourse (if you've even made it down this far ROTFL). 😅
TL;DR Version: I think there are a LOT of factors that play into why there has been a "movie star" drought in Hollywood lately, and why MOC aren't pushed as much to the forefront.

Heyy! I was catching up on your NCT rising sign posts and firstly it was sooo cool to see how in-depth u and other go that’s my fav like if u wanna guess risings u can’t just go off of looks! U gotta think any house and planet placements lol the whole thing. I wanted to come here to share my thoughts on Chenle and Heachan specifically bc I recently put a lot of thought into it for some reason lol
For Chenle I know he’s a sag/Scorpio cusp but I rlly think he’s a sag and I was running the numbers and for him to be a sag he would have had to been born after 3pm! I used to be rlly confident he was a cap rising bc he has intense bone structure and eyes but not in a Scorpio way, more in a strict saturn way. But to be a sag puts him past a lot of potential rising signs so the only ones left that have him at sag sun were Aries to Libra. I played around w some of them and I feel like he could be a Gemini rising! It makes sense cuz he’s known for being sooo friendly, bright, curious, and playfully witty and snarky. Here’s the selling point tho, depending on the time it could put his Gemini Saturn in first! Which explains why he looks like a cap rising to me lol
I’m bringing Haechan into this too bc I know a lot of ppl think he could be a Gemini rising and tbh I’d still buy it but I wanted to propose another idea. I think he could def be an Aries rising! And that would put all the sign in their natural house which I think makes sense w his Leo moon in 5th and the Gemini in 3rd etc. and when I try to compare him and Chenle in regards to whose more of a Gemini rising, it makes haechan seem less like one. He does act b Gemini cuz I mean he has 3 Gemini placements lmao..,, but Aries rising are loud, opinionated, independent, but also has that bored or distracted easy Aries thing. Quick temper, very like what I see is what I want. they’re not a curious as Gemini and they can be outgoing but their focus isn’t rlly on like inquiring about people like Gemini?
Anyways that’s my theory lol I just wanted to bounce ideas off someone who gets it! I love theorizing
Hello! Ohh, I love theorizing as well, so this is the place for you haha x
So,I hope it's okay but I think with the recent info that Haechan allegedly confirmed his birth time (which I personally take with a grain of salt because I've read that he apparently talked about his birth time before and said it was around 12 pm so....we gotta take his word here but I think we all generally know one has to be critical with all casual mentioned birth times from celebrities, but guessing peoples rising sign is for fun so in the end it's not that serious and let's have our fun disecting the chart with the info we have now!!) I want to talk about Haechan's rising sign first!
So one thing that always stood out for me when it came to Haechan was that he seemed very sensitive to me. It's almost like it's kinda written on his face when he speaks (or doesn't) and I think by the way he acts (very animated and reactive) it just underlines this sensitivity and just emotional receptivness. So I wasn't really suprised to see that he has a Cancer Mercury. Being a Gemini sun already places a huge empathize on his Mercury sign, and Gemini with the influence of water really makes for some pretty reactive people, because they can be highly sensitive to the words, moods and hidden intentions of others. Makes one really moody as well, especially if it's a Gemini with water influence but that's just a random fun fact I wanted to add on asdfghkl. If we take his alleged birth time into consideration, he'd have not only a Scorpio rising, but also a Pluto in the 1st. I think the look of his eyes can be pretty droopey at times and yet very focused/piercing at the same time, kind of like he challenges you in that sense, and this is certainly a theme I noticed in a lot of Scorpio risings, especially if they have Pluto in the 1st as well (which a lot of second/third decade Scorpio risings have). Also, having his Chart ruler in the 1st and in the opposite of his Sun and Venus would explain why he is kind of 'on and off' in that sense with his energy and moods (when you watch him in interviews with 127 especially, behind the scenes, at vlives, etc), especially him asserting his presence in the room with a Sun opposite Pluto would make a lot of sense (btw, this is all written in a neutral perspective and no critique, this is just me explaining his behaviour with astrology here). Haechan also is extremely 'scheming', even when he just sits and doesn't talk in an interview he seems to think ahead and I think this os something that comes really naturally to him, just connecting the dots and adding his own twists and turns to a conversation and story. Also, his Mercury in the 8th adds to the sensitivity I got from him, and that with his Scorpio rising and Pluto in the 1st really add to his driness at times, just really flat with his responses and reactions (which come pretty quick and surprising as well). And let's not forget his Uranus and Neptune in the 3rd: very distinguished and unique voice, as well as having Uranus in the 3rd would contribute to his 'on and off' switch but generally very high energy he has, especially when having a conversation. Despite that having Sun and Mercury in the 7th in a conjunction makes one really sociable in the sense you could feel the need to communicate and interact with others (especially when the Sun in 7th is involved, outs great empathise on being with others, lack of social connections can result in strong lonliness at worst). Oh and not to forget he'd have a Virgo MC with a Scorpio Ascendant. For me at least, it only adds to the fact that Haechan is really a jack of all traits, Virgo MC people usually come across as pretty capable and are pretty self composed (also can come across as quiet judgy and they don't even notice it).
OKAY I WILL STOP NOW ITH HAECHAN WOWIE LET'S MOVE ON TO CHENLE okay so I think I've mentioned before that I think Chenle's face has strong Cancerian/Jupiterian vibes for me - his bone structure is phenomenal ofc, but I think his face seems kind of 'stretched' (same with Taeil) which is btw not (!) meant in any negative way because that doesn't exclude being pretty ofc. I know an anon before mentioned that they believe he is a Sagittarius rising but with him being a possible Sagittarius Sun that would explain the effect of his Cancer Jupiter! I think I once talked about him reminding me of young Leonardo DiCaprio so much that I just wished for him to be a Libra rising, but to be fair I think an Air Ascendant would make sense for his nature in general. Ex: to have a Libra rising he'd have to be born around 2am, which ofc would make him still a Scorpio but would put his Cancer Jupiter in the 10th house, also in a possible exact conjunction to his MC (and even if not it's still the closest planet to his MC). He'd have his Moon, Mars and Uranus both in the 5th house which would generally explain his extremely friendly nature (if we can believe Johnny's rising and I sadly kinda doubt it tbh because I can see him just trolling us with his birthtime I'm seeing the parallels here) and why it's so easy and probabl also important to him to conenct with others and be on good terms. Generally speaking I find him pretty jolly in nature and I think if he'd have his Jupiter in the 10th, possibly conjunct his MC and an Aqurius stellium in the 5th (+ possible Libra rising) that could be it. He'd have a Scorpio stellium in the 2nd house with his Sun in the 29th degree, and even if this is said to make people closed off, part of Scorpio in the 2nd house is a) maintaing close and intimate relationships is key for them, they really need that and b) they trive on being liked and admired. Not to say that he is fake in that sense (all people are to an extent but that's beside the point) but this can definitely add to a general charisma! But idk if Chenle is actually 'edgy' enough for this potential birth chart, probably not I believe
Another possible rising sign I thought for him was actually Taurus rising, putting his Sun, Mercury and Venus (exactly on the Descendant here if it would be in the 2nd decan) in the 7th house and his Aqaurius stellium in the 10th, Jupiter in the 3rd. With his Sun being already in Sagittarius I think it would add to a natural 'want to feel good' attitude and searching for pleasure and good times in every situation and Aquarius in the 10th can make for very sociable people, even if they feel more introverted in that sense they have an easier time making connections with others, or others feel drawn to their friendly and understanding nature. Also, his Jupiter in the 3rd would be in a trine woth his Venus in 7th (especially if it's on the Descnedant) which can grand him an easy hand with social groups and settings to begin with!
And I really like your idea behind the Gemini rising, depending on the decan, his MC could still be in Aquarius with his Aquarius Mars in the 9th conjunct his MC and his Uranus in the 10th conjunct his MC as well, and again, putting his Moon in the 10th. Idk but his Aquarius stellium being possibly in the 10th just really seems to resonate for me 🤠🤠 Also, having a Sagittarius Sun in the 6th would make him most likely someone who's easier to work with, because these people value having a good and rather lighthearded atmosphere around them. Very enjoyable and loyal as friends and extremely passionate in their work place/when they pursue something their heart is in.

Its funny that anon mentioned daniel day lewis b/c this man barely promoted his projects, didnt really do the hollywood thing and he really let his work/acting do all the talking and arguably considered one of greatest actors of all time and was on top of hollywood with directors desperate to work with him, the same could be said of denzel washington not really into the hollywood thing obviously he was invited to parties but his talent did almost all the talking or jaoquin phoenix or emma stone or angela bassett etc the list goes on.. Being aggressive is one thing for some actors and may be the best route for them. but also like sometimes just working and you'll get them opportunities. Like going to events and whatnot is not the only way to thrive. Austin literally his route to fame was working with other actors and networking through them to get elvis and then through tom hanks got masters of the air just working alone is gpod enough. Again yoi dont need to got timmy or JE etc nothing wrong with that but you got acknowledge there are other ways of succeeding than just chasing every role.
Also why does anyone want one person to dominate the industry thats boring, I rather see multiple people succeeding at the same time and allowing newcomers to come and allowing them a platform to succeed. Stop obsessing over comparing tom to other actors everyones path is different. If he wants to place emphasis on breaks so be itz if hes in only for big paydays so be it, if he chooses to leave acting so be it, if he wants do theatre so be it, its his career the only perosn you need impress is yourself.

YESSSS!!!!

Exactly! Your WORK will eventually speak for itself. You don't need to be at every Hollywood party, or function in order to get recognized or get film roles.
I will say this though, a lot of the actors you mentioned (i.e. Denzel, Daniel Day, etc) WERE at Hollywood functions earlier in their careers. Just look online and do some Google search and photos. They attended the Oscars, the Golden Globes, etc.... Like, many of them (especially Denzel) were pretty regular at these functions, especially when they were in their prime.
They're older now, and they can AFFORD to not have to go to every single function or awards show. Some of these men are in their 60s and beyond. Of course they're not gonna be doing what some of the younger folks are doing lol. Some just wanna be in their bed ROTFL. 😅🤣
Either way, IF you are a GOOD actor, your WORK WILL speak for itself, and you WILL be getting people wanting to work with you. PERIOD. End of story. Now, whether you choose to accept these roles that come your way are another story. Not every actor wants to do everything. Not every actor wants to be another Leo DiCaprio or Daniel Day Lewis.
To me, Tom seems like he just wants to LIVE a normal life first and foremost, and then act on the side lol. 😅 And yes, maybe his whole focus and purpose changed when he met and fell in love w/the love of his life... 🥰 He's not a single man. He's found the LOVE of his life....so he might want to slow down some and focus on other things.
Also why does anyone want one person to dominate the industry thats boring, I rather see multiple people succeeding at the same time and allowing newcomers to come and allowing them a platform to succeed. YES Anon! All of this! I wish I could laminate and frame this whole entire last paragraph of yours lol. 😅

This reddit comment (a link under the article you posted that goes to a conversation if Timmy is a movie star).
He is right not just about him but the industry nowadays.
ControlPrinciple•hace 4 m
The next Leo? Where’s the trajectory alignment that is parallel to Leo? I don’t see it. You can say he’s a movie star without being hyperbolic. There will never be a movie star in the caliber of the ones that rose to prominence in the 80s, 90s and early 00s because IPs/franchises are the draw and the actor that gets the job can be the “star” to move it along. DiCaprio could’ve made “Beautiful Boy” a box office hit at Timothee’s age. There’s a reason his face and star power doesn’t drive people to theaters when he’s just in a regular movie. And that’s okay, because it’s a new business model today. But these comparisons are ludicrous.
That’s great, but how does that disprove my point? I never said he wasn’t a movie star, but context is important. He is still heavily IP dependent. While not movie stars, Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell just took a romcom to $200 million WW. Why can’t Timothee do that in a non-franchise or non-existing IP film, if he’s on the kind of movie star people are setting him up to be? It takes more than just leading movies that were going to make money anyway. He remains untested. You can call certain films “indie” and “small” as if they weren’t supposed to make money, but when you look up the facts, they were still disappointments and financially crippling to studios, regardless of how good they are. Movie stars make marquee hits. That means your name and face can make a movie a hit. Is Zoe Saldana a movie star because of all her Marvel and Avatar success? Outside of those IPs, can she open an original film to profit? You’re confusing talent with the ability to put buts in seats because you’re the main attraction. Dune also has, you know, Emmy and Oscar winning actors attached to it. Are we going to pretend that without Timothee Chalamet, Dune was doomed? Don’t Look Up needed Timothee more than anyone else? I just… don’t think we’re on the same page here. I’m talking about the bankability of a movie star (which has become a very short list), you’re talking about him being a movie star in general, which I agree with. It’s not hard to be a movie star, it’s hard to be a box office movie star and stand on your own two feet.
Tumblr media
This guy (or gal) makes some very good points Anon! I do agree... The Hollywood model has certainly changed somewhat. I don't think we can keep on comparing rising actors of today to the model of Hollywood from 30 years ago. Those days are kind of GONE imo lol. Not only that, but society and technology has changed drastically.
I do think there's a difference btwn a "movie star" and a "box office king movie star". Timmy is a movie star in the aspect that he's led some pretty big films, he's pretty well-known, and has a huge fanbase. But would I call him a "box office king" on the same level as Cruise?? More than likely NOT. But why on earth are people expecting Timmy to be on the same level as someone who is in his 60s and has far more films under his belt anyway? 🤔
Anyway, I also think it's the TYPE of film an actor does that makes them a "box office king". Timmy has pretty much done a lot more "smaller" indie films in his career. He's just now breaking into more IP-led films that have more of a box office effect.
I don't know if it's really fair to compare Timmy to Glen Powell. For example, I HIGHLY doubt that Bones and All would have done huge numbers at the box office even if they had cast Glen in the role lol. It's not really one that would appeal to the masses.
But if you had put Timmy in the lead role of a film like "Anyone But You", I kind of think that the film would have still made a lot of money just simply because people LOVE rom-coms just in general. Timmy might have a young face, so his "appeal" might not cross over to some older women (except for CC maybe lol.. 🤭), but even Leo with his "Baby Face" had grown women swooning over him in "Titanic" at age 23 lol, sooooo....it could have happened for Timmy as well! 😅
I think people need to look at the genre of film as well tbh. Jmho 🤷🏾‍♀️
My only question is...If "Twisters" does well at the box office, are people going to accredit that to Glen Powell's "movie star" status? Or just the fact that it's from a very popular IP and reboot of a film franchise? 🤔

Oh okay I see what you’re saying now, I was talking about the men from his generation and industry not in general. For example comparing him to the other “IT boys” right now (Timothee C, Paul mescal, Austin Butler…etc)
Oh don't worry Anon, once Paul Mescal gets on the same level as Timothee Chalamet or Tom Holland (popularity-wise), he will start getting massive haters too! LOL 😅🤣
Timothee gets some hate as well too though Anon. Maybe not as much as some others out here, but he still gets some hate. There are some who feel he's overrated, over-hyped, not that great of an actor, "not that cute", too boney/skinny, etc. I've seen it all.
And are you kidding me?? Austin gets snatched by his edges all the time online for simply existing lol 😅🤣 Some think his voice still "sounds like Elvis" (to the point where even reporters are bringing it up to him in interviews), some hate on him cuz he's EVERYWHERE now (esp during award campaign season), the majority didn't even want him cast as Elvis, etc. The list goes on.
Look, every actor goes through this. I'm sure Leo DiCaprio went through this as well when he was younger. Miles Teller gets hate. Ansel Elgort gets hate. James Franco gets hate lol. Robert Pattinson got hate after being in the wildly popular "Twilight" series. Some people hated Hayden Christensen and the actor who played Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best) in the Star Wars franchise, so much so, to the point where he wanted to kill himself! 🥴 Some of this hate is understandable, esp if the individual has done some very wrong things in their life, but other times it's just plain jealousy, unhinged people in the public that just love to hate on everybody and everything "popular" 🙄, or rabid fandoms hating on other fandoms for no good reason. 🥴
Anne Hathaway used to get a lot of hate because people found her "cringe", but maybe she was just a theater kid? Now look, she has the respect of most people now. Some people HATE Tom Cruise with a passion, especially due to his Scientology schtick lol and his two more recent failed marriages.
As actors they just have to keep proving themselves and the silly haters will mostly fall by the wayside eventually. It won't go completely away (I'm sure even Leo probably still gets a lot of hate lol), but there will be more of those who RESPECT you in the industry and in the general public over time. Just give Tom some time Anon. Tons of other actors get hated on too. Tom is actually very well beloved in the industry and in the majority of the gp imo. But again, I'm not going to try to convince you lol. I'm done with this topic lol. We seem to be going around in circles. 😂
