people often rip into Rachel and Kim from WAC for thinking they could make do with a single high school degree between the two of them or expecting them to share one persona through college and I used to do the same…
but I think it’s important to understand that college was not their end goal. getting a high school diploma was not even their end goal. not being put in a foster home was their main goal. having someplace to live and food to eat until they were 18 was their main goal. their situation was so bad that they could not afford to care about a long term plan. they went to Waverly to get food and shelter, not necessarily a diploma. the twins are not dumb for this plan. they avoided poverty and the foster system by testing into a good school and keeping themselves afloat there. they just happened to be so good that they were put in the running for valedictorian which put college on the table.
if they’d become the valedictorian and gotten the scholarship, that would have been another deal altogether (and I assume they’d have had to figure out whether they wanted to just go for continued survival or if they wanted to pursue prestigious careers and how that would work), but their plan to go to Waverly was actually brilliant and successful given the small scope of their goal, full stop

Hey Clue Crew!
I totally forgot to tell you all!
So last October, I went on my honeymoon to Mexico City (wonderful and beautiful city full of history–highly recommend if you get the chance). The first day, we went to the museum of anthropology. A huge place!! You could seriously spend the entire day there!! And being the Ancient Mexican Culture nerd that I was (all thanks to SSH), I was in love. ♡♡
There was a room dedicated to Mayan culture, which was amazing and full of all Mayan antiquities!
Making SSH jokes the whole time.. you know, Normal Things people do.
"The Mayans loved Jade!"
But as we toured the whole area, I casually mentioned to the husband unit, "you know, the Nancy Drew Game puts a LOT of emphasis on King Pakal...but I don't see any mention of him anywhere??"
My complaint had impeccable timing! There was a staircase leading to a downstairs area? This was the only place that had a downstairs portion.
It started leading to a crypt looking area...
And then!
The cinnabar! The jade mask!! The tomb!!
King Pakal!!
I had a great time.

ICE Senior Detective Glitch Solved!!!
omg I feel so sleuthy right now! There's a glitch in ICE where Elsa never picks up the phone on Senior Detective mode no matter how much you try, which has infuriated me for ages because I'm a 'leave no stone unturned' kind of player. Today I tried to do something about it, and it worked!!
I noticed that regardless of how many times I read her resignation note, her phone number never appeared in Nancy's notebook. It turns out that the Senior Detective glitch is that it never registers that you've read the note, which then never activates her phone number.
So the solution is to go into the developers menu and manually check off the event that you've seen her number! Solution: Press ctrl+shift+tab+C at the same time to bring up the developer's menu. Go to the 'Events' tab and search for 'elsa'. Check off the event "Saw_Elsa_Number". Hit Enter.
Note 1: The resolution of my screen makes the menu dialog stretched and cut off. If this happens to you, you can still do the above! The parts that you need will be on the screen (using search makes it so you don't need to scroll through the events), and hitting Enter will work instead of clicking the OK button that is cut off.
Note 2: Elsa doesn't always answer the phone even when you've seen the number. If you do this and she doesn't immediately answer, try calling again at another time (I'm not sure what her available hours are, but this is what worked for me!)
Sorry for such a long-winded post, but I am so excited to have figured out a solution!!

obviously the convoluted, meticulously planned scavenger hunts nancy drew finds in almost every game are unrealistic, but what IS very realistic is that the people they were made for never get close to figuring them out or even realizing there WAS a scavenger hunt they were meant to go on in the first place
