Como Historic House and Garden

The Armytage family owned Como House in South Yarra for nearly 95 years. The property was managed by the women of the family for more than seventy years from 1876 to 1959. The history of the Armytage family, and the families who worked for them, provides an insight into almost a century of life on a large estate.

Como was purchased in 1864 by Charles Henry Armytage and it became the home of Charles, his wife Caroline, and their ten children. Charles died in 1876 and Caroline in 1909. Their daughters Leila, Constance, and Laura lived on at Como and left an indelible impression there.

The last surviving children of Charles and Caroline - Constance and Leila - sold Como to The National Trust of (Vic) in 1959. Como was the first house acquired by the Trust. One of the most significant aspects of this purchase was the acquisition of the complete contents of the house. The Armytage sisters realized that if Como was to survive as an expression of their family and its lifestyle, it must remain intact as a home. They also left an extensive archive of diaries, letters, journals and photographs.

Boasting one of Melbourne’s finest gardens, an inspiring historic mansion, and an impressive collection of antique furniture, the property provides a glimpse into the privileged lifestyle of its former owners; one of Australia’s wealthiest pioneer families.

Life can be seen to contain two major elements: the animate and the inanimate. While the inanimate bricks and mortar, objects and pathways, help in our understanding of this family, it is the animate, the social history, which makes Como come alive.

I'm so so sorry for being late, my december was a lot busier than i thought it would be and only had time to finish this now😅 But I hope you like it! They're having a sleepover, i imagine since neither of them had a lot of friends in childhood, they'd enjoy doing these things now as a fun bonding moment, and as a way, for hunter specially, to just be kids again

en un hospital para la salud mental, Voluntariamente, pidió estar allí. terapiaaaa. uh. el vestuario q les puse se supone que es representivo deee su más vurnurable. El de Freddy fue, luego de perder Fred, tener que admitir a si mismo que lo afecta. El conflicto internal d pensar que era su hermano, y tmb un parasito que no existia al mismo tiempo. tmb el querer ser mirado suavemente, pero sin el añadido: hay algo malo en ti que necesita ser arreglado. la cosa de los cordonessss los hospitales te quitan ciertas cosas si creen q eres un peligro para los demás o para ti mismooo uhhh tiene una pulsera hecha de papel y cereal omg loops cereal reference, lol no. eeera una tarea del hospital, que no se atrevía a completar. no pudo hacerloooo bbbb luego aca mi niño fred, creo que su mas vunerable seria dejarse sentir y ser visto como solo un niño. no un parasito, no una cosa fantastica paranormal, no una llave para aprender sobre los secretos del mundo, no una molestia, ni algo para temer, ni algo que se debe deshacer de. Un niño. Esta en pijama, digo ampos lo estan, pero yk tiene un sentido como simple? pero eso es el punto. Okey revisando mi ibispaint para borrar proyectos inconclusos encontre este dibujo de Star!! no estaba así terminado, de hecho estaba a medias y ya lo termine

(si se preguntan quien es, antes de que solo reblogueara y subiera cosas de Welcome Home, hacia lo mismo pero con The owl house y este ente maligno era como seria uno de los archivistas en este caso el de la estrellita pero ahorita que lo veo nada que ver 😭 pero fue divertido haber hecho el diseño jajajaja)

Okay, checking my ibispaint to delete unfinished projects, I found this drawing of Star!! It wasn't finished like that, in fact it was halfway done and I finished it.

(If you're wondering who she is, before only reblogged and uploaded things from Welcome Home, did the same thing but with The owl house and this evil entity was what one of the archivists would be like, in this case the one with the little star, but now that I see it, it has nothing to do with it 😭 but it was fun to have made the design hahahaha)
