Another Wood-Engraved Feathursday
This two-color wood engraving of a Common Loon (Gavia immer) and a soaring Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is from an engraved bookplate for school librarian Thomas Anderson by Western Massachusetts wood engraver and letterpress printer Abigail Rorer (b. 1949). The engraving, signed by Rorer, was printed at her Lone Oak Press in Petersham, Massachusetts for the print portfolio of number 25 of the deluxe edition of Parenthesis: Journal of the Fine Press Book Association, a donation from the estate of our dear friend Dennis Bayuzick.

Some fantasy traveler inventory details (like what they would carry in their bags), based on two of the recent costumes I did.. love finding random little scraps and items and putting them together lol
#it's obvious who's is who's since they match their outfits HOWEVER.. consider if they were switched lol#evil villain looking man carrying around pressed flowers in a cutesy lacy pouch#fantasy costume#what's in my bag#actualyl that would have been funny to make a video. I should make a video#I'm sure someone else has already done this#but like.. lifestyle vlogger type content however I'm dressed in fully costume as some weird elf or something#pulling things out of my bag and showing them to the camera and talking about how they're useful for whatever#but it's all fantasy scenarios and talking like it's very common#'and of course. i know it's a bit cliche#EVERY traveler has one of these. but you know. theyre just useful! thats why everyone has one!' *pulls out a completely unrecognizable item#thats like some weird fantasy world prop and doesn't even explain it because In-world it's normal and wouldnt need to be talked about*#'room tour' video and it's just like 'yeah I sleep on this mat under a bunch of trees uh.. over here by these rocks. at least right now. I#kind of wander around a bit. so'#Like a clothing haul but it's a potions shop haul or something and they ramble about some obscure drama in the potions community and how the#y hard to barter and steal and entire flock of sheep or something just to get one of them. etc. etc.#I could do ones for different characters too like. multiple people from different walks of life showing what they carry around with them.#just like this but more interview sort of vlog format instead of photos#This is where not having much money and not having my own house with land becomes an issue though#I think it would take you out of the illusion if the background was always the same. I can make small sets because there's one blank wall in#a room that it's easy to move all the stuff away from in front of and clear a spot and like hang up fabrics or whatever but still.. hmms#So one of those 'fun idea but dubious about handling the execution' things. also One Of Those Things where without looking it up you're 100%#sure it's already been done and you don't want to look weird since it's vaguely niche. Like if 100 people have done something it's fine but#if only like 3 other people have then you look weird maybe ghhjbj.. or only one other person gods forbid. looks even weirder potentially#Or do people not care about ''copying'' anymore?? idk. I'm not updated with the internet's changing culture. I just have a fear of accidenta#lly doing something like that and then people getting mad even though it's really just that I competely had no idea it had been done because#again.. I live under a rock and am unaware of everything lol. ANYWAY. also would require my face being on video which I don't like. Though I#would be in costume so that helps. I think to be fully comfortable I'd need light modifications to make my face look different. which isn't#hard but is more effort when it has to be translatable in multiple angles. ANYWAY. ghjbhj... Now I think it would be funny actually. maybe#one day. I haven't made any videos (aside from on the gameplay/sims channel) in a long long time actually. hmm'st

Some of you have just gotten wayyyy too comfortable with bullying other people in fandoms.
For a start: having to drag people's oc or fic if you personally don't like how it goes or who they're paired with. Back in the day we had this thing called "don't like, don't read" and I don't know if you kids still do that but it's basically this thing of knowing we don't like a certain character or pairing and as such, choosing not to read it. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. Shutting the fuck up is free.
Another is this constant obsession with claiming people are "plagiarising". Plagiarism is obviously real and does exist, but I'm talking about when there are common concepts in fics and you're claiming they were "stolen" from you. Like idk I was one of the first people to write and popularise the "Baratheon daughter" concept, but that doesn't mean I own it, it doesn't give me the right to tell others what they should and shouldn't write to do with that. In fact, it gives me no right at all. The other time I cared was when people literally plagiarised my story, or else copied exactly edits that I'd made. Writing fanfic is realising that people sometimes have similar ideas to you. It doesn't mean they copied you, get over yourself. If you can't differentiate between common concepts and plagiarism, I don't know what to tell you.
I don't know. It just sucks where we are in this place where others are deliberately making fandoms shitty for other people. People used to do "twin" edits if they shared a faceclaim, they used to be interested in seeing how others would play off a similar concept. But these days you kids are so fucking hostile and just want to attack everything you come across that you, personally, do not like.

Max is clearly not a fan of PR and they got him to do this tik tok, which I'm sure he happily obliged to looking how happy and silly he seems while doing it.
Man they're really obsessed with Charles at the Red Bull garage. All of a sudden they're posting too much lestappen on the main.

also holding a very sharp image in my head of john, probably drunk, cornering dean against a wall and roughly shoving his shirt up and grinding against his ass and shoving his nose in dean's neck and gripping his hips and dean gasping and sighing and john just releasing immediately and stumbling away and dean's brain is like wow this is what it's like to be in love.

and also, the fact that “women shouldn’t be sharing opinions about men” is a common sentiment is so fucking hilarious to me because that’s not how anything works. under patriarchy, what men do, how they speak, the beliefs they hold, their interior and exterior lives all concern women. we can literally see firsthand the ways in which men circling the wagons to defend their right to feel seen and heard by a tv representation of white men results in misogyny trickling down to real women. what men do (including queer men) will ALWAYS be our fucking issue, doubly so when you’re talking about queer/lesbian women. because that’s how oppression works. because men oppress women. you actually don’t get to tell the people you oppress to stay in their lane. sorry!

Hey y'all, I might be taking out my ass here, but the timing of this new data-selling AI business is either an extremely unfortunate coincidence or a calculated attempt to draw attention away from Tumblr's transphobia problem.
Like, if they were hoping to use bad press to distract from The Thing They Have Lawsuits Over, a pretty safe move would be to shift focus onto something that by Tumblr's own admission has very few existing laws. Just a thought.

Bridgerton really is the only fandom where you could create a random ship for pure enjoyment, that was about the two characters in said ship finding one another and the life they could have together, and yet somehow certain people in this said fandom would go "Okay but what about this person outside this ship (who wasn't even mentioned)? Obviously, if this ship exists they can't be happy, so just stop talking about it in general. Besides, it's not canon so just accept reality. "

A Falco Feathursday
This Feathursday we showcase three of the smallest falcons in Europe and America: the Eurasian Hobby (Falco subbuteo), Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), and American Kestrel (Falco sparverius). All are in the genus Falco, and all occupy a similar niche within the falcon genus, although the Hobby is more falconesque in its hunting behavior. The American Kestrel, however, may not be a true kestrel, but seems more closely related to other North American falcons.
These paintings are by the British bird artist Terance James Bond and are reproduced in our folio volume Birds, The Paintings of Terance James Bond, published in Cambridge, England, by the Lutterworth Press in 1988. Of his painting of the American Kestrel, Bond writes:
The species . . . can be found in parkland, farmland, and the margins of towns and villages [and cities!]. To hint at this association with modern man I have chosen to illustrate my male bird against a setting of sawn logs. This I feel works very well, the firewood is a perfectly natural element but the presence of civilised man is suggested through the obviously unnatural arrangement of the timber. The bird could be sunning itself in somebody's farmyard or rural garden and has taken advantage of the perching point whilst it sits and waits for the arrival of a potential snack.
