WHAT is going on with Agatha All Along??? With most shows you post about I can sort of guess what's going on but for AAA I only get more and more confused with each post.

okay Wanda and Vision's gay ass little toaster oven son lost his body at the end of 'wandavision' and then possessed the corpse of a dead 13 year old on the day of his bar mitzvah (the 13 year old was being played by a 21 year old. not relevant but guys. we could have tried slightly harder). he wants to find a way to get his straight ass little toaster oven brother into a new body. so he jail broke the witch his mother Specifically Jailed and they found some ragtag lesbian witches to make a coven so they can 'walk the witches road' which will grant them like, a wish or whatever at the end of it. evan peters character from wandavision came back and No One will convince me he's not his x-men character in witness protection program mode. side note I'm Pretty Sure the set for the road is literally just the set of the into the woods movie repurposed and I have no way of confirming that. everyone in the cast is unbelievably hot and so so mean to each other. there's a stevie nicks inspired power ballad. they keep being magically put in minxy little costumes. kathryn hahn has shown both tits AND ass. patti lupone is there.

I must admit that despite my typical hesitation to make direct comparisons from fantasy d&d worlds to modern politics the best analogy I can find for the people joining the Ruby Vanguard is the modern (20th century to present) support of right-wing populism. I think many of the people who follow those leaders do have legitimate concerns and needs that aren't being met; I think the frustration and disillusionment is very real; but also they are latching onto an extremely powerful guy who is using them, isn't actually helping them, and to follow him requires a willingness, bordering on eagerness, to fuck over your neighbors. And in the end he's not here to help you, he's just bringing in a force of psionics who will mind-control anyone who dissents. The only rather cold comfort is that they'll probably kill him first.

Finished The Masquerades of Spring.

This was very much the 'Ben Aaronovitch wants to try his hand at Jeeves and Wooster' story, but pitching it for the jazz scene in 1920s New York. It was very very in conversation with topics that Aaronovitch is clearly already interested in throughout the series.

I enjoyed it! The character voice was very heavy in his Bertie analogue, but also Aaronovitch had fun with it in terms of leaning into all of the long term associated queerness to the narrative set up by...making it explicitly queer.

He's very aware of exactly how his fandom slashes characters, let us say.

Delighted we finally got a canonical read on Nightingale's particular brand of queerness. David Mellenby appears in references multiple times in terms of reinforcing exactly how important he is to Thomas.

In terms of storylines, this definitely picked up on Aaronovitch's longrunning intersections with the 'treatment of race', 'jazz music' and 'Fae and specifically how Molly is treated' angles.

oh my god I just remembered that Lucien playfully asked Frumpkin what his dreams for the future are. He’s so cute, I love those little moments when he indulges in that same love of ridiculous whimsy as Mollymauk—

Also I was going to say it makes me feel some kinda way that Lucien gives Caleb a little nickname too, how something as small and teasing as, “Broody one,” betrays just how much of Caleb Lucien can truly see, how the depths of this wizard’s heartache and pain isn’t lost on him.

But, even more heartbreaking… “Perhaps we’re more alike than you think.” Lucien saying that, even though he can’t possibly know how terribly true it is. Lucien who doesn’t know that Caleb is the only person who would understand how he woke screaming and crying as a child from nightmares of setting his childhood home on fire. Lucien who watched his parents burn, lost his whole family—and spent years blaming himself for it, desperately trying to bend reality to his will just to bring them back.

Never mind that he did it to save himself and his little sister, that he did it to stop them from using his brother’s corpse as an undead puppet—saved countless others from being sacrificed to the same fate. He still hated himself for it, still let the gutting guilt and grief eat him alive. Lucien who is a victim of the Cerberus Assembly and several other very powerful, manipulative mages—just as much as Caleb is.

We’re more alike than you think. Lucien who resents his blood hunter scars and all the Eyes and his own infernal blood—every time he tried to close off his own heart to keep from losing anyone else. It could have saved him, I think. If he knew just how much Caleb would understand. And I think, for his Magician, that shared connection would be a comfort too—

Nephrite / Naru Art I made, set in the 30th century in Crystal Tokyo after Nephrite has reincarnated (they are both in their 20s). I'm undecisive whether this is part of the same continuity as 512TR(ans) and most of my other NephNaru works, so you can interpret it how you wish (whether this Naru is cisgender or a transwoman, etc).
