We are still going through The Horrors. We're now on month three of my husband being unemployed. He is doing everything in his power to find a job, but...no luck thus far. I'm disabled and can't work. My beloved cat SpyBoy has been very ill. He has diabetes that we are still trying to get under control. We finally have all of the vet bills up to date, but Spy Guy is going to have to have another overnight visit next month for monitoring, to see if his insulin needs to be adjusted. The mortgage is due on the first, along with some other bills. I have no idea how to pay for any of this. I have started listing my collection of signed books, rare editions, and other treasures on ebay. My husband lost his job, and then my beloved cat SpyBoy became very ill. Seven vet visits, one hospital stay, and $8000 of vet bills later, we found out he had pancreatitis and diabetes. He's doing much better, but we are in dire financial circumstances, and in danger of having our electricity turned off. But! My horrors can become your fabulous book collection! This is my beloved SpyBoy. He is a very sick little dude. He was diagnosed with diabetes recently, which has resulted in half a dozen vet visits, an extended stay at the cat hospital, and seriously devastating vet bills.

My husband was recently laid off, and I'm disabled, so we currently have zero income and zero savings.

The vet has let us make partial payments, but the balance is coming due on the first.

Our gofundme is stalled out at $2700, and we need $5200 by January first, just to catch up with what we currently owe.

SpyBoy spent the day at the vet yesterday being monitored. His glucose levels were awful, so he's now getting two units of insulin twice a day, instead of one. He was very happy to come home. I was so lonely all day without my dude. Here he is sporting a fancy orange bandage and explaining to the cow ottoman that this is not his first rodeo. We are still in dire straits financially. Spy Boy is on his way to the vet for his 24 hour glucose monitoring. Thanks to your help, we had a little over half of what it's going to cost, but the vet is letting us pay the rest in a couple of weeks, so we have a tiny bit of breathing room.

We got some very bad news today. We have been going through the process of applying for a home equity loan for months now. Today, they informed us that the appraisal of our house came in too low, so we have been denied the loan.

The hard inquiry they made on our credit report as well as us maxing out our credit cards to make it through the past couple of months means that our credit score is now too low to apply for any type of loan. We won't qualify for personal loans, and the lowered value of our house means we can't refinance or get a home equity loan.

We are absolutely at the end of our options.

We have food stamps now, which is a huge relief, but they don't cover cat food and litter, etc.

There are more vet visits on the horizon for our little guy, and no way to pay for them.

We have zero money coming in.

My husband is still applying for jobs and trying everything to get assistance. I am disabled and can't work. I'm trying to get more assistance from various agencies, but that's a very long process.

I still have books for sale, I'm scouring the house for anything else we can sell, but we don't have much.

We are about a week away from having our electricity shut off. We are about two months away from losing our house.

Please, if there's any way you can help us, we will be forever grateful.

SpyBoy wants to wish you all a Happy New Year! May this one be orders of magnitude better than the shitshow we all just endured! SpyGuy is back to his old self, being frisky and feisty and incredibly loving. He and his sister Scout never got along well, but since he got sick, Scout has warmed up to him considerably. We think that since he smells different now, she thinks he's a different cat. In two weeks, the little dude has to go back for another 24 hours at the vet for a full glucose panel and other tests. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we were able to pay the past due vet bills, but we have many more vet visits looming. The holidays put a huge crimp in the husband's ability to find a new job, since no one was giving interviews, but he has a couple of interviews lined up for later this week. Mr. Boy is doing pretty well. He's mostly back to his old self, but he has periods of being pretty listless and depressed. He's going back to the vet next week for another 24 hour stay to find out what's going on, and to see if the insulin needs to be increased again. We've paid all the past due vet bills, thanks to your overwhelming kindness and generosity, but I have no idea how we're going to pay for this next vet visit. There's promising news on the job front, as the husband has a second interview scheduled for Monday. In the meantime, the bills are piling up and I'm worried about my little guy. Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give you a brief update, and a basic accounting of where all the money has gone.

SpyBoy is at the vet for his 24 hour monitoring. Hopefully this will be the last one, since it's $634 each time.

Jonathan is still waiting to hear from the recruiter about the job. It's not a great job...it's $20,000 per year less than he was making. But if it's offered, he'll take it while looking for something better. He has another interview tomorrow, for a different job.

We're on month four of no income, and we're hurting. All of you wonderful people have helped us get this far, and we would be lost without you.

We have currently received $9945. $6400 of that has gone to vet bills, plus the $634 we'll have to pay tomorrow for this monitoring session. $3000 has gone to mortgage payments...these have been partial payments, since the mortgage company is working with us through all of this. The other $500 has gone to making partial payments on bills, to keep the lights on and the internet going.

We're behind on everything. Our credit cards are maxed out, and we have those payments looming.

I am going to be listing another 40 or so books on my ebay over the next couple of days.
