Just with this professional technique, interiors gain depth, sophistication and a sense of warmth of which cannot be achieved with a single-texture approach. Am sure you now get a glimpse of what elevates luxury in Dubai interiors! DesignMaster has done and still leveraging interior texture layering in many modern minimalist residential fit out, cozy rustic villa designs and even in luxurious hotel lobbies. lighter's 6-step guide to ruining your kitchen (and winning your heart)
lighter lorenz x reader
summary: what starts as lighter trying to fix your broken coffee maker turns into an explosion of chaos, tools, and laughter. he's confidentâ too confidentâ but even as things spiral out of control, you can't help but enjoy the mess. (he's trying his best)

you eyed the old coffee maker like it had personally wronged you. in fairness, it kind of hadâ months of leaking water, leaking coffee, sputtering, and smelling vaguely like burnt plastic had left you at your wit's end. when lighter showed up for a visit and saw you glaring at it, he made the offer:
"i can fix that for you."
you raised a skeptical eyebrow. "can you?"
"please," he said, rolling up his sleeves with the bravado of someone who definitely had no idea what they were doing. "i've tackled bigger challenges."
step one: the toolbox gauntlet
it started innocently enough. you dug out the dusty old toolbox you hadnât touched in years while lighter sets the coffee maker on your kitchen counter like it was a patient awaiting surgery.
"this is a mess," he said, holding up a screwdriver and spinning it in his fingers like he was auditioning for a hardware commercial.
"i know," you replied. "that's why i was going to buy a new one."
"where's the fun in that?" lighter grinned at you. "trust me, i've got this."
famous last words.
step two: controlled chaos (emphasis on chaos)
lighter pops open the back panel with alarming confidence, revealing a tangled mess of wires. "here's your problem," he said, pointing at the horrifying jumble like it was obvious.
"oh really?" you deadpanned. "i thought it was working perfectly."
he ignored your sarcasm and started tinkering, tools clinking against the counter as he muttered things like "that's weird" and "pretty sure this goes here". you leaned against the counter, arms crossed, watching the spectacle unfold. at one point, a small spark shot out of the machine, and both of you jumped back.
"totally normal," lighter said, though his wide eyes behind his tinted glasses betrayed him.
"normal for what? a sci-fi action movie?"
"relax", he said waving you off. "i've got it under control."
you weren't sure what definition of "control" he was using, but it definitely wasn't yours.
step three: the great coffee maker escape
things escalated when lighter attempted to plug the machine back in for a test run. it hummed ominously, sputtered, and then released a small puff of smoke. you grabbed a kitchen towel, ready to smother it in case of fire.
"uh, that's... progress?" lighter offers weakly.
"progress toward a lawsuit," you muttered, fanning the smoke away.
he finally threw in the towel, setting the screwdriver down with an exaggerated sigh. "okay, maybe it's more stubborn that i thought."
"lighter, it's dead." you laughed, shaking your head. "you didn't fix itâ you put it out of misery."
step four: damage control
despite the chaos, lighter didn't look defeated. in fact, he looked entirely too pleased with himself as he leaned against the counter, arms crossed, and smirked at you. "hey at least we tried," he said. "and by we, i mean me, because i did all the work."
âoh, yes, all your hard work ruining my kitchen,â you teased, gesturing to the tools and coffee maker debris scattered everywhere.
âruined is a strong word,â he countered, nudging you with his elbow. âi prefer âtemporarily restructured.ââ
you rolled your eyes but couldnât stop smiling. âwell, thank you for temporarily restructuring my coffee maker into a pile of junk.â
âanytime,â he said, his grin widening. âseriously, though, iâll help you pick out a new one. one with fewer... deathtrap vibes.â
âappreciated,â you said, grabbing a damp cloth to start cleaning up.
step five: the clean-up crew
cleaning was just as chaotic as the diy attempt. lighter insisted on washing his hands in the tiniest sink possible, accidentally knocking over a glass in the process. you spent more time dodging his elbows than actually organising the tools.
âmaybe stick to your day job,â you joked, shoving a wrench back into the toolbox.
âfunny,â he replied, leaning over the counter to grab a towel. âi think i make an excellent handyman.â
âsure,â you said, smirking. âif the goal is to create more problems than you started with.â
he shot you a mock-offended look, but the glimmer in his eye gave him away. âyou wound me.â
step six: the aftermath
by the time the kitchen was semi-clean and the coffee maker officially declared beyond repair, you were both leaning against the counter, exhausted but grinning.
âyou know,â you said, nudging him with your shoulder, âyouâre banned from fixing anything in my apartment ever again.â
âfair enough,â he replied, straightening up. âbut admit itâyou had fun.â
âfun?â You gave him a look. âthatâs what weâre calling this disaster?â
âa masterpiece of domestic chaos,â he corrected, his grin teasing.
you laughed, shaking your head. âalright, fine. it was... entertaining.â
âentertaining?â he leaned closer, raising an eyebrow. âtry âthe best time youâve had all week.ââ
âdonât push it,â you said, but the smile on your face betrayed you.

Your travel destinations, where should you travel to?
This topic was suggested by someone, I think it's really an interesting idea but hard to do a reading on. This will be a reading about what kind of places you should go for each purpose (to relax, to connect, to find inspiration, to find opportunity)
This is a general reading meant for multiple people. Take only what resonates and leave out the rest.
Your feedback is much appreciated. If you find the reading resonated with you, leave a comment, Iâd love to know đ
About me | Masterpost Book a reading with me - KO-FI (â personal reading)
URANUS
The energy is quite active or, in some cases, defensive. Wherever you go, there's an element of protection, you have to protect something of yours, your stance, your opinions, your achievements, your possessions, you might need to be cautious when travelling.
To relax: somewhere remote and private, where you don't have to meet many people and worry about prying eyes. Could be some lesser known beaches or resorts. You should feel familiar with these places, they shouldn't be somewhere new, maybe these place were where you went when you were a kid and had a lot of fond memories about them. Even if they have been renovated, they still contain some nostalgic elements. I see fields, twilight time, birds, lots of water, maybe some place where it rains a lot.
To connect: lively places with lots of banters. This kind place should be suitable for talking openly so it won't be those dimly lit restaurants where soothing music is playing and everyone talks in low voice. This place is kind of rowdy, an element of competition, there is little space between people, strangers can easily talk to each other without much awkwardness. I see a pub where people are watching some show and talking about it, a debate club, a workshop, a sports centre, an arcade, contests.
To find inspiration: contrary to the places for connection, the places where you can find inspiration will be quiet, professional, everyone is keeping to themselves. If there's talk at all, it will be an introduction, a lecture, one person is talking while the others listen. A class, a museum, an exhibition, a presentation. If it's somewhere in nature then it will be a high place, mountains, hills, where you can see the scenery below and where you can see the stars clearly.
To find opportunities: lots of people around, older people, teachers, foreigners. Somewhere you have an emotional connection with or somewhere with lots of acquaintances. The setting is comfy, warm but formal. Could be school, overseas business trips, a forum. There are lots of talking, exchange ideas, commercial places, a bakery, a bookshop. Somewhere sunny and dry, should be near where you are living, not too far, like the kind that is continents away. This might be where you can settle down and stay long-term.
MERCURY
All the places you go to will have a great impact on your life, it doesn't matter if they are small or grand, secluded or public. They all have a certain foreign element to them.
To relax: this place has to look nice and beautiful to you. You can't relax in shabby, aesthetically ugly places. I see lots of sleeping, this is where you go to get some shut eyes. Maybe somewhere you go to periodically, somewhere familiar with lots of memories. This place will have lots of natural lights, you can catch the sunlight and the moonlight easily. Sleeping under the moonlight to recharge (but be mindful of moonburn though, it's real, if you have sensitive skin, the moon is strong in your chart or you were born on new moon, moonlight can mildly burn your skin if exposed for too long)
To connect: you won't be able to expect these kinds of places. Maybe you have some negative impressions about them or they seem out of your comfort zone. This will likely be when you are taken by somebody else to this place, not on your own. It can be an emergency or maybe something happens at the current place so you have to move to another. You will be reluctant to go there. If not, then you will only go to this kind of place on a whim, something has changed drastically for you, or you consciously want to be more daring and brave. In short, any places that you immediately feel the urge to resist going there, but, also have a certain fascination with them, will be the places where you can connect with people the most.
To find inspiration: somewhere you have to travel by air to get there. Likely foreign countries. You will hear lots of talks about these places, they could be some famous destinations or have a certain charm to a specific group of people. The sky is clear and bright, lots of vehicles, lush scenery, different from your own culture.
To find opportunities: this will be a busy place, people running around, a lot of things can be accomplished there. You will have to be fast and direct there, a very dynamic environment, likely your workplace or a job fair. This place seems serious, not much fun is allowed there.
PLUTO
This group might actually just fit for only a few people.
To relax: This is probably a bit unconventional, but the place where you can find relaxation is actually your workplace, or somewhere you can carry out your duty, do your job. The reputation of the tasks, the busy atmosphere, the sense of responsibility and helpfulness, and knowing that you're contributing to something might ground your mind. Another place is somewhere lively with lots of people, this kind of place can make you feel more alive, especially if you're someone who usually feels lonely or feels some voids inside when you're alone. The physical energy of people around you, the concentration you put into your work might be your anchor.
To connect: somewhere that lets you immerse in all the five senses, nature scenery, during the period of autumn, when fruits are ripe, the scents of everything grow stronger. This will be the place where you've been to in the past but now it has changed, it's about the things or the people you know are changing, maybe a wedding, the change of marital status. There's a feeling of spirituality and religion, could be temples, churches, places to retreat, the wood. Another one is the bank or somewhere you can exchange money.
To find inspiration: there are two types of places. One is a show, a concert, an exhibition of some artists, there will be performances. The other one is more like a situation, where you have to be at some places for some duties but you will have a chance to sneak out, to go anywhere spontaneously, probably with another person, this will feel like an adventure for you. This kind of situation will give you a sense of being free, being spontaneous.
To find opportunities: the place where you can find lots of opportunities for growth will be the place for meeting friend groups. You will meet lots of friends there. I see schools, the plaza, city squares, the internet, groups of shared interests. Streams, where water flows, places where you can hear birds singing clearly, water park, cinemas. This might be just for a few, but the cemetery or somewhere related to the departed, ghosts, hospital, somewhere you can connect with the ancestors.
MARS
This is not about the places but about the time, summer might not be auspicious for travelling, but the rest of the seasons, spring, autumn, winter will be. You might also take note of the moon phase, when the moon is half full, when the moon appears reddish, avoid going out, home will be the best place for you to be.
To relax: you might want to go to these places after you've done some major works and achieved something significant. It doesn't mean that you can't go before that, but going after the work is done will bring peace to your mind and rejuvenate your body. These places have good foods and animals, fruit trees, the energy feels old and bountiful. Could be camping, going to nice local restaurants, hot springs, farms, sheeps and horses come to mind. And good ol' home will also an excellent choice.
To connect: the places where you go to relax might actually be the places for you to meet and connect with more people. Some acquaintances will introduce you to someone, or you will meet them by chance, completely unexpected. Other places will be the bank, large stores, well established buildings, jewellery shops, somewhere with rich history. I also hear driveway at night, you might travel to those places at night, at the start of winter. I got a pretty weird feeling, a little scared, new connections might form when you're in some kinds of troubles, they might be the one helping you.
To find inspiration: you might want to go to see some contests, matches, especially sporty kinds, races, where people can compete, fast actions, and exciting energy. You might be in a long period of boredom or tense situations, so you will want to get out and get some fresh air, to shake your spirit up a little.
To find opportunities: you might go to someone else's homes to learn some skills or to show your expertise, or a place where you can practice those skills. There will be examinations, evaluations, discussions of the skills and the related products. I see wine and food, handmade crafts, things that take a long time to make.

A/N: oops, this is insanely late. but it's done and it helped me through day three of organizing my personal life from my bed, where i'm kind of stuck right now. love y'all!
ao3 link || series masterlist || navigation || ko-fi

Most holidays are made up, or at least so far removed from their historical roots in order to commercialize them for the masses- the jaded thought crossed your mind as you hit submit on a massive order from your main vendor. The espresso sours in your mug, the milk separated from sitting for too long pulls your face into a disgusted frown as you look down into it. It was hours ago now that you made it, your stomach and head telling you it needs caffeine and sustenance; and quick if your headache was any indication.
Holidays were fun and kitschy, brought in a lot of money for the bakery, for your bank account and bills but it was so damn taxing. Three weeks out from the giant pink fluff ball that is Valentineâs Day and the crushing weight of the day sits heavy on your shoulders. But you smile despite it as you shut down the computer set up in the small office, grab your cardigan from
Joel did his best to change your mind on that front with his proposal to find more time for each other in your hectic lives. And itâs been working out pretty well so far. The last two months has been a blur of frantic kisses and coffee runs for the crew here at the shop, of last-minute dates spent eating take out in his truck after his shift ends and before your early bed time.
Another date is tonight, but this time you both share a meal sitting at an actual table and wine poured into large, stemmed glasses. It helps to keep you upbeat for another two weeks, the prep for the holiday pulling you in one direction and a contracted job on the outskirts of the city pulling Joel in another. The memory of the night flits through your mind, your body feeling light and a little warm as you recall the way he hadnât been able to wait until you up the stairs that leads to further into your apartmentâŚ
What you wouldnât give to see that side of him a little more, the desperate, needy man that is hidden beneath the hardworking, loving, devoted one he is all of the timeâŚ
But this week, thereâs absolutely no time for anything other than frosting, sprinkles, and batter. Because on Friday, itâs Valentineâs Day. Youâve got a stack of cake orders that equal to one hundred, cupcakes, chocolate strawberries, cookies, fruit tarts, and everything in between. Thankfully you live in the space above the shop, otherwise there would be no way for you and Callie to get it all done. The air in your lungs was more powdered sugar and flour at this point than plain old oxygen, but itâs a small price to pay for the record sales you make every year.
This year, you have a goal in mind for the extra income. The hourly you would normally earn from the week of prep and the day itself- itâs going to go toward helping Joel get Sarah into the summer soccer camp she has her eye on. Itâs upstate, the first time she will be away from her father for so long. But the way she went on and on about it at a family dinner with just the three of you, one shared look with the man across the table and you knew you had to help anyway you could to make it happen.
The phone rings just as you place a piping bag down, metal tip on a strategically placed parchment paper to avoid making an even bigger mess atop the cluttered counter. Wiping your hands on the damp towel hanging from the tie of your apron, you reach for it.
âSugar ân Spice, how may I help you?â
âWell, hey there, sweetheart. Been tryinâ to reach you.â The familiar, deep voice of one Joel Miller filters over the line.
âJoel! Oh no, my phone probably died, itâs in the office somewhere underneath the order printouts. Iâm so sorry.â Blowing out a wobbly sigh, you realize you canât see it from where youâre at the counter and lean over to glimpse inside the door.
âNo need to apologize, I understand how hectic it is over there. Sarah said it was a lot going on.â You can sense his mood over the phone, tired and a little stressed. You can picture him clenching and unclenching the hand not holding the phone, or rubbing at the back of his neck and digging his fingers into the hair thatâs beginning to curl there.
âYeah, itâs been pretty crazy. Just trying to build the cakes I can and get them in the freezer with a crumb coat. Gonna decorate once theyâre all sorted out.â You ramble to try and counteract it, but you know that youâre more than likely just coming off as manic as your voice fills the space of the bakery kitchen over the music you play at a low volume. Callie is out handling the front counter, training the morning person on the specials and how to answer flavor profile questions for everything.
âListen, sweetheart, I hate to do this to youâŚâ Your heart sinks, voice trailing off as your chest coils tight- Joelâs energy transferring to you over the line.
âSarah came down with somethinâ, had to leave the job site to get her from school. Sheâs holed up in her room and wonât be able to make it in for her shift later. Iâm so sorry, baby.â
âI hope sheâs okay, does she need anything? I can make soup or bring over some stuff from here to help cheer her up?â Youâre spiraling, you know you are. And Joelâs next words feel like a stab to the gut.
âNo, no, thatâs okay, sweetheart. Iâve got it all covered over here, weâll get this to break. You donât need to worry about us,â Your hearing tunnels out, his deep gravely voice distant as you respond to him with deflated words you would not be able to repeat since they donât really even register past the line clicking off and the dial tone that mimics a flatline on a heart monitor.
It might as well be, because youâre sure your heart just broke at the implication that you didnât need to worry about the two most important people in your life. Titles and circumstances donât change that Joel is a single parent, that he takes his responsibility so seriously because Sarah is his lifeline and always will be. Your own father barely acknowledged you growing up, and now that youâre in the food industry he continues in his steadfast ignorance of your existence. Your brother taking the spotlight, the favorite alongside your younger sister who they dote on endlessly. In that moment, you feel like an outsider and an overlooked daughter all in one. And you donât like it, so you bury your hurt feelings in the frosting bag you refill and continue piping the countless cakes on the speed racks surrounding you well into the night.
A week goes by with no Joel. Sarah out for her three shifts she works after school on the days she doesnât have soccer practice. Youâre trying to unload the pallet that the driver was insistent on leaving in the dining room of the bakery, a new person who youâve never seen before. Normally, Rick is the one who has the route with your shop on it and he always stays for a cup of coffee and a sweet roll after unloading the delivery directly into the walk in and kitchen for you. You miss him, feeling the weird energy wafting off the new guy and the loss of your almost friend as you want for personal interaction after being alone and holing up in the kitchen- you havenât been sleeping, and you feel more than a little pathetic. Still.
The phone turned to silent as you throw yourself into the holiday prep, pink and white and red swirling even behind closed eyelids. Just as your cheeks puff with a deep breath and the thud of the last bag of flour onto the stack you keep organized by date, moving the ones just delivered to the bottom, the bell chimes in front of the bakery.
The pressure of the holiday is firmly on your shoulders, people picking up their orders begins in an hour, leaving you very little time to be frustrated with the actions of the new delivery guy. Frosting needs to be made for the last rack of cakes, royal icing for the cookies that people can come in and request names on, chocolate drizzle for the strawberries that are already coated in their shells, but all of it will fly off the shelves, off the racks and through the city until the very second you lock the door promptly at six pm, maybe even a little bit later if people are queued up or last minute pop ins.
Joel hovers in the doorway to the kitchen space, his form filling the empty frame well. Heâs got an almost shy expression about him and an armful of flowers while a small bag hangs from around two thick fingers.
âI locked the door, I know you ainât really open yet.â Is how he announces himself after a moment of watching you move the wooden pallet to lean against an empty wall by the door that leads up to your personal space. You jump and spin around with a hand to your heart, the footsteps thought to be of the man heâs berates with his next words. âDelivery guy left it wide open, didnât recognize him but he was pretty rude when I said I knew you.â
âJoel!â You place your other hand to the counter in front of you and lean over to gather your breath back, aware of him placing the items in his hands down atop it before they settle on your back in a comforting, familiar gesture.
âDidnât mean to startle you, Iâm so sorry, sweetheart.â His voice rumbles over you, so close. Closer than heâs been in the past week, just missed calls and texts checking in with you- knowing you were beyond busy with the shop. âWe got your delivery, Sarah is feeling a bit better and scarfed it down quick.â
âOh, um, good.â You shrug off his hands and stand to your full height, eyes bouncing around- never landing on him.
âDidâŚdid I do somethinâ?â Heâs straight to the point, knowing that thereâs no need to mince words, not when it was you- not when it was him and you together. Clear communication, clear intentions. Or so he thought.
âNo, I just- you know what, yeah, you did something,â The bite in your words is sharp, digging into a confused and exhausted Joel. âYou cut me out! âIâve got it all coveredâ. Well, newsflash, Joel, I got it all covered myself. Iâve got an insane day ahead of me, so please, just-just go.â
He says your name, tone pleading as he reaches out for you, but you take a step back, eyes finally landing on him.
âI get it, itâs just you two against the world. I really do, youâre a great father, a good man- of course you are. But you need to please, justâŚâ You trail off as you see the emotions swirl in his amber eyes- the dark brown catching the fluorescents of the kitchen since the sun is still dipped below the horizon.
Joelâs mouth opens, but the store phone rings once and then the answering machine clicks. Your fatherâs voice fills the tense air, adding another layer of anxiety and weight on top of your already aching shoulders.
Your mother and brother will be by in an hour to pick up some stuff, make sure to set aside some of the better lookinâ things, yeah? Donât put anythinâ too absurd in the box, you know I donât like that type of shit. Just plain and simple. You always do too much, stress yourself out for no goddamn reason.
Thatâs it, thatâs the entire message. No greeting, no sign off, no mention of the holiday or your name or that heâs grateful for the free products. Just a command and a chastisement. Because charging your family once, that was enough of a humiliation to experience. The laugher and scoffing, the words âoutrageousâ and ânot worth that muchâ echo in your head each and every time you input a new price into the computer system or handwrite a card for the display case.
âGo, please.â Your voice is small, but strong. The comparison of the man whose voice just spoke and Joel standing in your kitchen too much to handle right now.
âOkay, sweetheart, Iâll go,â He motions to the bouquet of flowers and the bag still on the counter closest to him. âThose- those are for you, for Valentineâs Day, cause I thoughtâŚcause youâre my girl.â
He doesnât sound so sure, his words rising at the end of his sentence as if questioning it in that very moment, despite the time he put forth in choosing the items. His eyes are questioning too, as he connects them with yours. But all you can offer him is a trembling bottom lip and a tight nod of your head.
He doesnât ask you to call him and you donât say that you will.
Youâre surrounded by pink even as your heart darkens purple, as if bruised by every strained interaction with your family, aching and lighting up in the way of thisâŚrut with the man that turns around and disappears through the space youâve created for yourself.
The door is opening before you even raise your hand to knock.
Joel stands there with a kitchen towel slung over his shoulder, the smell of cooking food wafting through the open door. He looks so goddamn hopeful as his eyes rove over your form, straight from the bakery where you had finally locked the door behind the last patrons. Frosting and sprinkles splotch your apron, oil darkening spots on your jeans and shines on your hands as you hold the necklace unearthed from pretty tissue paper and a simple jewelry box.
Itâs gold. With the imprint of a tent right in the middle of the flat pendant.
âJoelâŚâ
Heâs ushering you inside just as the tears begin to trail down your cheeks, warmth moving up your neck from your chest to burn hot behind blurry eyes.
âIt wasnât supposed to make you cry, it was- it was supposed to make you smile.â He whispers as if berating himself for messing up the one day he promised himself he would make a good one.
âTheir hap-happy tears,â Your voice warbles out, hands reaching for him as he turns around from closing the door, wrapping around his neck. You burrow your head into his chest and breathe him, his own coming around you to hug you tight to him. The gold of the necklace is cold where it swings across his neck and dips below the back collar of his shirt.
âSarahâs mom left the day before the holiday, years ago,â The confession, the reason- itâs muffled where he buries his own face in your hair, smelling the sweetness of powdered sugar and vanilla. A perfume that lingers on your skin from the shop, even on your days off, a part of what makes him so enamored by you. The undertones of amaretto, of cherry- itâs his favorite scent in the world ever since your encounter months ago- a tent and a night of passioned shared between you two. The beginning of the connection you two share, despite everything.
âShe always gets a littleâŚmelancholic I guess is the right word, this time of year. And with her gettingâ her, uh, monthly right before we met- itâs been a tough couple of months for her to see all âo her friends turn to their moms for help with stuff sheâs goinâ through.â
âI-I didnât know,â You feel selfish, for feeling the way you do. None of it comparing to the way a child feels the loss of such an important figure in their life, a literal parent- you know all to well how much it can affect someone. Your own mother staying in the car this morning while your brother rolled into the shop like he was the reason it was standing, demanding the things he âhad to make an insane drive for at the ass crack of dawnâ without so much as a smile or a thank you. Gone in the blink of an eye, your mother not even bothering to look into the bay windows from where she primly looked over whatever was in her lap.
âNot your responsibility to know, itâsâŚunless...unless you want it to be?â Joel sounds nervous, unsure of himself- such a stark contrast to how he normally speaks. Heâs leaning back, large hands moving to your neck as you look up at him, his fingers gently prodding at the sensitive underside of your chin. His eyes are so deep as they scan over your face. A smudge of frosting dried high on your cheek as you feeling a little more than self-conscious.
âWh-what do you mean?â The words are a whisper. Mind working overtime as you strip his own down to figure out what exactly it is heâs saying.
âIf you wereâŚmy girl, my girlfriendâŚwe could- we could manage it together. She adores you, asks after you when you ainât been around for a few days or sheâs not workinâ alongside you. SheâŚshe wants you in her life morân Iâve seen with anyone. But Iâm terrified of makinâ more mistakes. Especially with her.â
Your brow furrows, lips thinning into a straight line.
âMistake?â
âIâm not callinâ this-â He dips down to kiss you chastely, to calm himself as much as you. âYou ainât a mistake, youâreâŚyouâre everythinâ Iâve never let myself want, sheâs been the priority. But I want to be selfish, want you in my life, sweetheart. Permanently.â
âIâve never had a boyfriend,â You confess, memories of half formed relationships bubble up, feelings of being the one that people turn to or ask after when others say no. Of situations that fizzle out in the blink of an eye and never on your account. âNo oneâs ever asked that of me before.â
âIâm not asking it of you, Iâm offerinâ it to you. Lemme be your first, please. I-Iâll do right by you, better than this past week has been, I promise.â
Your heart soars, the weight you carry in it lightening at the earnest way he speaks. And then youâre closing the gap to press your lips firmly to his.
More happy tears warming your cheeks- youâre kissing your first ever boyfriend.
His lips are velvet soft against you, tongue hot where it slips between your own to ignite sparks all over your skin. You moan into his mouth, swallowing the heady sound he makes in response. Youâre about to pull him closer when a timer dings and you nearly jump out of your skin.
He parts with a chuckle, hands trailing slowly as he distances himself from you and moves toward the oven. The towel still over one broad shoulder acts as a barrier for his hands as he folds it just so to take a deep pan out of the oven once the timer is silenced. The smell of garlic and herbs fills the space with a fuller sense, and you realize that heâs made lasagna. An offhand comment made a few weeks ago lamenting the lack of a truly good finding in the city.
âSarah and I put it together, we were kinda hoping youâd be by tonight after the shop closes. But sheâs off at a sleepover now, guess she sensed things were a littleâŚstrained.â
He doesnât let you help, instead youâre gently ushered into a chair at the dining table with a glass of wine while he carefully plates up two portions alongside some roasted brussel sprouts and garlic bread. When he finally sits down beside you, he takes one of your hands in his and kisses the top of it, a bashful smile playing at the corner of his lips. His eyes flash to the pendant hanging around your neck, carefully clasped by his own hands before he set to bustling around the kitchen.
âI donât cook much, so it might be shit honestly, but Sarah got the recipe from one of her friendâs moms. Sayâs she was born in Italy and itâs the real deal. Family recipe and all that.â
Itâs amazing, but even if it was merely an okay rendition, the fact that he put so much effort into it wouldâve made it so. You tell him just as much as you stand from your spot after the last bite and settle over his lap with a confidence that buzzes underneath your skin. Steadying hands grip your hips as you press into him and make out like a couple of teenagers right there in the kitchen, but when you rock once, twice, three times against the hardness you feel beneath the denim of his jeans the world suddenly shifts as he picks you up like you weigh nothing.
His drawling voice dips dirty promises are peppered into your skin with sucking kisses, your excited giggles and whining moans echo through the house as he carries you up the stairs and into his room.
He makes good on every single promise pressed into your skin, until youâre both gasping and panting, bodies spent and limbs exhausted.
Wrapped up in his arms, legs tangled beneath the sheets- warm, safe, and loved for exactly who you are and nothing more or nothing less. You smile as you hear the soft snores as Joel drifts off and shift just a little more securely into the plush bed, because you feel like you could float away. Happiness warms you just as his body does around you and you bite into your bottom lip to keep a giddy giggle contained.
Joel Miller is your boyfriend.
Words that slipped past a gasping breath while he was deep inside you moments before flare brightly, as if branded into the skin of your chest, curved around your heart.
Youâre mine, you hear me? Mine.

Sigal Samuel at Vox:
Thereâs a dominant narrative in the media about why tech billionaires are sucking up to Donald Trump: Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos, all of whom have descended on the nationâs capital for the presidential inauguration, either happily support or have largely acquiesced to Trump because they think heâll offer lower taxes and friendlier regulations. In other words, itâs just about protecting their own selfish business interests. That narrative is not exactly wrong â Trump has in fact promised massive tax cuts for billionaires â but it leaves out the deeper, darker forces at work here. For the tech bros â or as some say, the broligarchs â this is about much more than just maintaining and growing their riches. Itâs about ideology. An ideology inspired by science fiction and fantasy. An ideology that says they are supermen, and supermen should not be subject to rules, because theyâre doing something incredibly important: remaking the world in their image. Itâs this ideology that makes MAGA a godsend for the broligarchs, who include Musk, Zuck, and Bezos as well as the venture capitalists Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen. Thatâs because MAGA is all about granting unchecked power to the powerful. âItâs a sense of complete impunity â including impunity to the laws of nature,â Brooke Harrington, a professor of economic sociology at Dartmouth College who studies the behavior of the ultra-rich, told me. âThey reject constraint in all of its forms.â As Harrington has noted, Trump is the perfect avatar for that worldview. Heâs a man who incited an attempted coup, who got convicted on 34 felony counts and still won reelection, who notoriously said in reference to sexual assault, âWhen youâre a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.â So, what is the âanythingâ that the broligarchs want to do? To understand their vision, we need to realize that their philosophy goes well beyond simple libertarianism. Itâs not just that they want a government that wonât tread on them. They want absolutely zero limits on their power. Not those dictated by democratic governments, by financial systems, or by facts. Not even those dictated by death.
The broligarchsâ vision: Science fiction, transhumanism, and immortality
The broligarchs are not a monolith â their politics differ somewhat, and theyâve sometimes been at odds with each other. Remember when Zuck and Musk said they were going to fight each other in a cage match? But hereâs something the broligarchs have in common: a passionate love for science fiction and fantasy that has shaped their vision for the future of humanity â and their own roles as its would-be saviors. Zuckerbergâs quest to build the Metaverse, a virtual reality so immersive and compelling that people would want to strap on bulky goggles to interact with each other, is seemingly inspired by the sci-fi author Neal Stephenson. It was actually Stephenson who coined the term âmetaverseâ in his novel Snow Crash, where characters spend a lot of time interacting in a virtual world of that name. Zuckerberg seems not to have noticed that the book is depicting a dystopia; instead of viewing it as a warning, heâs viewing it as an instruction manual.
Jeff Bezos is inspired by Star Trek, which led him to found a commercial spaceflight venture called Blue Origin, and The High Frontier by physics professor Gerard K. OâNeill, which informs his plan for space colonization (it involves millions of people living in cylindrical tubes). Bezos attended OâNeillâs seminars as an undergraduate at Princeton. Musk, who wants to colonize Mars to âsaveâ humanity from a dying planet, is inspired by one of the masters of American sci-fi, Isaac Asimov. In his Foundation series, Asimov wrote about a hero who must prevent humanity from being thrown into a long dark age after a massive galactic empire collapses. âThe lesson I drew from that is you should try to take the set of actions that are likely to prolong civilization, minimize the probability of a dark age and reduce the length of a dark age if there is one,â Musk said. And Andreessen, an early web browser developer who now pushes for aggressive progress in AI with very little regulation, is inspired by superhero stories, writing in his 2023 âTechno-Optimist Manifestoâ that we should become âtechnological supermenâ whose âHeroâs Journeyâ involves âconquering dragons, and bringing home the spoils for our community.â All of these men see themselves as the heroes or protagonists in their own sci-fi saga. And a key part of being a âtechnological supermanâ â or ßbermensch, as the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche would say â is that youâre above the law. Common-sense morality doesnât apply to you because youâre a superior being on a superior mission. Thiel, it should be noted, is a big Nietzsche fan, though his is an extremely selective reading of the philosopherâs work.
[...]
The broligarchs â because they are in 21st-century Silicon Valley and not 19th-century Germany â have updated and melded this idea with transhumanism, the idea that we can and should use technology to alter human biology and proactively evolve our species.
Transhumanism spread in the mid-1900s thanks to its main popularizer, Julian Huxley, an evolutionary biologist and president of the British Eugenics Society. Huxley influenced the contemporary futurist Ray Kurzweil, who predicted that weâre approaching a time when human intelligence can merge with machine intelligence, becoming unbelievably powerful. âThe human species, along with the computational technology it created, will be able to solve age-old problems ⌠and will be in a position to change the nature of mortality in a postbiological future,â Kurzweil wrote in 1999. Kurzweil, in turn, has influenced Silicon Valley heavyweights like Musk, whose company Neuralink explicitly aims at merging human and machine intelligence. For many transhumanists, part of what it means to transcend our human condition is transcending death. And so you find that the broligarchs are very interested in longevity research. Zuckerberg, Bezos, and Thiel have all reportedly invested in startups that are trying to make it possible to live forever. That makes perfect sense when you consider that death currently imposes a limit on us all, and the goal of the broligarchs is to have zero limits.
Vox has an insightful article on the disastrous vision that broligarchs like Elon Musk, Marc Andreessen, Peter Thiel, and Mark Zuckerberg subscribe to.

Home Sweet Burrow

Pairing âź Joe Burrow x Reader
Summary âź Joe and you are on a mission to furnish your brand-new house, but what starts as a casual shopping trip turns into a full-blown adventure. Between Joeâs quirky opinions on throw pillows and your obsession with picking out the perfect coffee table, you both learn a lot about each otherâand yourselves. The house may be new, but it's starting to feel like home.
Word Count âź 485
Warnings âź Just Fluff
A/N âź Hey guys this is my first post/one shot if you want to call it but I'm new and just getting started if you have any tips or suggestions please feel free to share. I also take requests.
The sun was setting over Cincinnati, casting a golden glow over the city as you and Joe strolled into the sleek, modern furniture store. Your new houseâa beautiful, airy place with high ceilings and expansive windowsâwas nearly finished, but there was one problem: it was still completely empty. Except for a couch. Joe insisted on getting a big sectional sofa first, because, as he put it, âItâs gotta be comfortable for game days, right?â
âAlright,â You said, glancing at him as we walked through the sliding doors. âWeâre on a mission. We need to make this place feel like a home, not a hotel lobby.â
Joe flashed a grin. âA hotel lobby would have a good minibar, though.â
âFocus, Joe,â you say laughing. âThis is a house, not a suite.â
âI know, I know,â he teased, rubbing his chin. âBut we should get a minibar. Just sayinâ.â
Joe and you moved through the store, you found myself getting distracted by all the little detailsâvases, lamps, wall art. Meanwhile, Joe was making very serious decisions about the most random things. âWhat about this lamp?â he asked, holding up a funky, geometric piece that looked more like modern art than an actual light source.
You raised an eyebrow. âReally? That looks like something youâd find in a sci-fi movie.â
He chuckled. âExactly. Itâs perfect.â
After much back-and-forth on the lamp situation (which ultimately ended in you picking something a little more traditional), then you and Joe ventured to the kitchen section. Joeâs face lit up as you looked at the wine glasses.
âWe need a good set of these,â he said. âFor...you know...celebrating stuff.â
âYou mean, for after you win the next Super Bowl?â you teased.
âExactly,â Joe grinned, pulling out a set of crystal glasses. âWeâll toast to that moment when it happens.â
Joe paused for a second, imagining it: Joe hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy above his head, Cincinnati going wild. It was a beautiful thought.
The shopping trip was a mix of seriousness and sillinessâJoe testing out every recliner in the store, making you laugh by acting like he was auditioning for a role in a commercial. And you obsessing over the smallest things, like picking out the perfect throw pillows for the couch. It wasnât just about the house; it was about making memories, finding y'alls rhythm in this new chapter.
By the time you were ready to check out, the cart was filled with everything you both neededâand some things you probably didnât. You give Joe a pointed look as he placed a neon green throw blanket on top of the pile.
âAre you sure about that?â you asked skeptically.
Joe shrugged, that confident, carefree smile of his lighting up his face. âLook, every home needs a little bit of chaos.â
You have to admit, he was right. A little chaos made everything feel real, and thatâs exactly what you both were building together. A real home.

You donât have to pay for that fancy worldbuilding program
As mentioned in this post about writing with executive dysfunction, if one of your reasons to keep procrastinating on starting your book is not being able to afford something like World Anvil or Campfire, Iâm here to tell you those programs are a luxury, not a necessity: Enter Google Suite (not sponsored but gosh I wish).
MS Office offers more processing power and more fine-tuning, but Office is expensive and only autosaves to OneDrive, and I have a perfectly healthy grudge against OneDrive for failing to sync and losing 19k words of a WIP that I never got back.
Googleâs sync has never failed me, and the Google apps (at least for iPhone) arenât nearly as buggy and clunky as Microsoftâs. So today Iâm outlining the system I used for my upcoming fantasy novel with all the helpful pictures and diagrams. Maybe this wonât work for you, maybe you have something else, and thatâs okay! I refuse to pay for what I can get legally for free and sometimes Googleâs simplicity is to its benefit.
The biggest downside is that you have to manually input and update your data, but as someone who loves organizing and made all these willingly and for fun, I donât mind.
So. Letâs start with Google Sheets.
The Character Cheat Sheet:
I organized it this way for several reasons:
I can easily see which characters belong to which factions and how many I have named and have to keep up with for each faction
All names are in alphabetical order so when I have to come up with a new name, I can look at my list and pick a letter or a string of sounds I havenât used as often (and then ignore it and start 8 names with A).
The strikethrough feature lets me keep track of which characters I kill off (yes, I changed it, so this remains spoiler-free)
Itâs an easy place to go instead of scrolling up and down an entire manuscript for names Iâve forgotten, with every named character, however minor their role, all in one spot
Also on this page are spare names Iâll see randomly in other media (commercials, movie end credits, etc) and can add easily from my phone before I forget
Also on this page are my summary, my elevator pitch, and important character beats I could otherwise easily mess up, it helps stay consistent
*I also have on here not pictured an age timeline for all my vampires so I keep track of whoâs older than who and how well Iâve staggered their ages relative to important events, but itâs made in Photoshop and too much of a pain to censor and add here
On other tabs, I keep track of location names, deities, made-up vocabulary and definitions, and my chapter word count.
The Word Count Guide:
*3/30 Edit to update this chart to its full glory. Column 3 is a cumulative count. Most of what I write breaks 100k and it's fun watching the word count rise until it boils over.
This is the most frustrating to update manually, especially if you donât have separate docs for each chapter, but it really helps me stay consistent with chapter lengths and the formula for calculating the average and rising totals is super basic.
Not that all your chapters have to be uniform, but if you care about that, this little chart is a fantastic visualizer.
If you have multiple narrators, and this book does, you can also keep track of how many POVs each narrator has, and how spread out they are. I didnât do that for this book since itâs not an ensemble team and matters less, but I did for my sci-fi WIP, pictured below.
As I was writing that one, I had âscriptedâ the chapters before going back and writing out all the glorious narrative, and updated the symbols from âscriptedâ to âfinishedâ accordingly.
I also have a pie chart that I had to make manually on a convoluted iPhone app to color coordinate specifically the way I wanted to easily tell who narrates the most out of the cast, and who needs more representation.
â
Google Docs
Canât show you much here unfortunately but Iâd like to take an aside to talk about my âscene bitsâ docs.
Itâs what it says on the tin, an entire doc all labeled with different heading styles with blurbs for each scene I want to include at some point in the book so I can hop around easily. Whether they make it into the manuscript or not, all practice is good practice and I like to keep old ideas because they might be useful in unsuspecting ways later.
Separate from that, I keep most of my deleted scenes and scene chunks for, again, possible use later in a âdeleted scenesâ doc, all labeled accordingly.
When I designed my alien language for the sci-fi series, I created a Word doc dictionary and my own "translation" matrix, for easy look-up or word generation whenever I needed it (do y'all want a breakdown for creating foreign languages? It's so fun).
Normally, as with my sci-fi series, I have an entire doc filled with character sheets and important details, I just⌠didnât do that for this book. But the point isâyou can still make those for free on any word processing software, you donât need fancy gadgets.
â
I hope this helps anyone struggling! It doesnât have to be fancy. It doesnât have to be expensive. Everything I made here, minus the aforementioned timeline and pie chart, was done with basic excel skills and the paint bucket tool. I imagine this can be applicable to games, comics, what have you, it knows no bounds!
Now you have one less excuse to sit down and start writing.

Batfam on Valentine's Day
Bruce Wayne
Tries to act like Valentine's Day isnât a big deal but always pulls off something extravagant last minute.
Prefers quiet, intimate moments over flashy eventsâlike a candlelit dinner at home or a rooftop date overlooking Gotham.
Writes heartfelt letters that he struggles to deliver, so Alfred sneaks them into his partnerâs things.
If his partner teases him about being romantic, heâll just smirk and say, âI donât need one day to show you how I feel.â
Dick Grayson
Goes all outâflowers, chocolates, dinner, and probably a choreographed dance if his partner asks for it.
Loves playful, flirty dates, like roller skating, amusement parks, or even dancing in the Batcave.
Sends a bunch of ridiculous text messages leading up to the date, full of heart emojis and bad puns.
If his partner doesnât like big celebrations, heâs totally happy just cuddling and watching rom-coms.
Jason Todd
Acts like he doesnât care but actually puts a lot of thought into his giftâprobably something personal, like a book he annotated or a rare vinyl record.
Not big on public displays of affection but will hold his partnerâs hand under the table or wrap an arm around them absentmindedly.
If his partner likes action, heâll take them on a date that includes shooting practice, a motorcycle ride, or some rooftop parkour.
Ends the night by cooking a homemade meal (better than expected) and reading with his partner in comfortable silence.
Tim Drake
Completely forgets it's Valentine's Day until the last second. Scrambles to put something together but somehow pulls it off.
Workaholic tendencies mean his partner might have to drag him away from a case to celebrate.
Prefers thoughtful gifts over grand gesturesâlike a playlist of songs that remind him of them or a handwritten note tucked into their stuff.
His idea of a perfect Valentineâs date? Staying up late with takeout, gaming, or watching sci-fi movies with his partner curled up next to him.
Damian Wayne
Initially dismisses Valentineâs Day as âcommercialized nonsenseâ but secretly gets his partner a handmade gift.
If his partner is artistic, heâll paint or sketch something for them (and act like itâs no big deal).
Gets flustered if they try to be affectionate in public but secretly loves it in private.
His idea of a date is something activeâsparring together, horseback riding, or visiting an art exhibit he thinks theyâll appreciate.
Barbara Gordon
Likes a balance between romance and practicalityâmaybe dinner at a cozy spot, followed by a late-night city patrol.
Probably hacks her partnerâs devices to send them cute (and slightly embarrassing) Valentineâs messages.
If her partner is into books, sheâll gift them a first edition of something they love.
Makes sure every Batcomputer screen in the cave displays a heart-filled message just to mess with the others.
Cassandra Cain
Not big on words, but shows love through small, meaningful actionsâlike fixing her partnerâs favorite snack or holding their hand.
Loves quiet, peaceful datesâmaybe a rooftop picnic where they just enjoy each otherâs presence.
Might write something sweet but struggle to say it, so she just hands her partner a note and looks away.
If her partner gets cold, sheâll silently wrap them in her own jacket and pretend itâs no big deal.
Stephanie Brown
Goes all-in on cheesy, fun Valentineâs traditionsâheart-shaped pancakes, silly gifts, and matching sweaters.
Leaves random love notes and doodles in her partnerâs stuff leading up to the day.
Loves spontaneous adventures, so expect a road trip or a scavenger hunt through Gotham.
Would 100% try to sneak into a fancy restaurant without a reservation, just for the thrill.

Character study: Usagiâs (dream) House
A (mostly) rustic kitchen that despite his sci-fi look, dreams of living a life of anything but that. But as someone whoâs never actually been to a house like that his perception is never perfect. There are always things like commercial exit signs, minimalist chairs that never reach optimal counter height and irregular island benches that tarnish the perfect image.
Ghost!Usagi doesnât eat. His digestive system was ripped out of him and heâs missing 40% of his body parts. But he loves to cook so thereâs always food on the table.

So, given everything that's happened in recent hours, I thought I might give people who don't know about Gundam some stuff to learn about. Hopefully I can give a balanced and not-racist take like some people.

What is Gundam?
Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino with help by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and animated by the studio Sunrise (currently Bandai Namco Animation, though I refuse to call them that), the original Mobile Suit Gundam released in 1979 to initially-limited success, though would gain popularity through a combination of fujoshis shipping the characters, the sale of plastic model kits referred to as "Gunpla" and a recut of the series into three compilation movies throughout the early 80's. And as of 2024 is the 66th highest-grossing media franchise of all time, beating out Scooby Doo, Minecraft and the Simpsons.
Also, I'm pretty sure it's what sparked Japanese sci-fi's obsession with O'Neill Cylinders.
The original anime takes place in the year 0079 of the Universal Century, where the Principality of Zeon: a nation composed of orbital space colonies declares a war of independence against the Earth Federation. This "One Year War" has already claimed half the human population by series start and is waged through the use of "Mobile Suits": bipedal mecha powered by a fusion reactor capable of effectively fighting out in the reaches of space.
Main character Amuro Ray is the son of a Federation engineer who lives in an out-of-the-way space colony, though soon finds his home under attack by a Zeon infiltration. After finding the secret Mobile Suit project his father was working on: the RX-78-2 Gundam, he fights off the Zeon invaders, though finds himself and a bunch of other kids conscripted by the Federation to fight the forces of Zeon aboard the ship the White Base. Throughout his journey, Amuro and the Gundam fight many battles against Zeon, including against their mysterious masked ace pilot Char Aznable.
The series was responsible for the codification (but not creation, people get this wrong all the time) of the "Real Robot" subgenre of mecha, where the robots were relatively more realistic and used as weapons of war as opposed to the more fantastical "Super Robot" subgenre pioneered by Mazinger Z and Getter Robo.
A major theme of the show, and the franchise as a whole is "War is bad", as demonstrated through this meme:

Yes, this is the original version of this meme format.
Anyway, Tomino, a renowned pacifist who grew up in the shadow of Japan's involvement in WW2 tried to use his platform as an anime director to try and tell a story that would get people to realise war's futility and brutality.
So I hear you asking, "That's nice and all, but what about the space lesbians who beat Destiel on their home turf?" Well, let's get into that.

What is the Witch From Mercury?
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, or "G-Witch" for short is one of the more recent entries in the Gundam Franchise and a (very) loose adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Tempest. Set in the year 122 Ad Stella, the solar system is under the de facto control of the Benerit Group: a megacorporation with borderline-medieval internal politics that maintains a system of capitalism that benefits Spacians at the expense of those who live on Earth.
Main heroine Suletta Mercury enrolls at Asticassia School of Technology owned by the Benrit Group at the behest of her mother: CEO Prospera Mercury of the Mercury-based Shin Sei Development Corporation, and wins a Mobile Suit duel against a bully in her own MS: the Gundam Aerial. This however means she has now won the hand in marriage of daughter of the Benerit Group CEO: Miorine Rembran, beginning a series of consequences that shape the very political landscape of the solar system.
G-Witch was a massive hit, both critically and commercially. The first episode: the Witch and the Bride attracting record numbers for the studio and the Gunpla kit for the Aerial is currently the best-selling Gunpla kit ever.
Contrary to popular belief, G-Witch is not the first piece of Gundam media to feature a female protagonist. That honour would go to the 2002 Japan-only manga Ăcole du Ciel, nor would it have the first queer main character, which goes to 1999's Turn-A Gundam (and if you were to ask any fan of the series, they'd so it goes back to the very beginning). But it became notable for its lesbian representation in anime (in spite of Sunrise's attempts to downplay it, to the anger of the director, writer, producer, artists, animators, cast, fans and even their own parent company Bandai Namco who forced them to back off).
One thing I need to clarify: You don't need to have watched the original series to enjoy G-Witch. They're not even in the same continuity.
So if you're interested in the series and you've only watched G-Witch, I'll give out three recommendations for you all to enjoy:

Mobile Suit Gundam 00
Gundam 00 takes place in the year 2307 (the only series to use our own calendar), where the world is divided between three global superpowers: The Union of Free & Solar Nations (The Americas, Australia, New Zealand and Japan), the Human Reform League (China, South, East, Southeast and Central Asia) and the Advanced European Union (all of Europe, including all of Russia west of the Urals) who each control a space elevator near the equator and wage proxy-wars in Africa and the Middle-East over Earth's dwindling resources. This eventually culminates in the emergence of Celestial Being: a terrorist group consisting of Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tierria Erde, all of whom use powerful "Gundam" Mobile Suits and try to forcefully impose global peace on the Earth.
00 is pretty slow-paced and is more about the world than the individual characters, but said characters are really well-written, especially the characters from the three power blocs who are the de facto protagonists as they try to stop what are in their eyes a bunch of crazed terrorists preaching a hypocritical and incoherent ideology of "peace through force".
And to address the elephant in the room, this series is VERY post-9/11. Constant talks about terrorism, proxy-conflicts in the global south (especially the Middle-East), religious extremism, dwindling resources and the wars fought over them. While the franchise has always been political and of-its-time, you can just tell 00 was made in the mid-2000's. Again, it's good. But just something to keep in mind.

Turn-A Gundam
Turn-A Gundam is one of the weirder elements of the franchise for a myriad of reasons. Not the least of which being its unique setting taking inspiration from the famous sci-fi novel War of the Worlds.
In the Year 2345 of the Correct Century, human civilisation is at a level of technology reminiscent of the late-19th/early 20th centuries, save for the Moonrace on... well, the moon. As part of their queen Diana Soreil's plan to reintegrate both Lunar and Terran societies, several scouts are sent to the planet to set up their return to the planet. One such scout: Loran Cehack integrates into Terran society as a driver for the wealthy Heim family, though at a coming of age ceremony for the family's second daughter, a member of the Moonrace attacks the technologically-inferior Terrans. However, a mysterious mustached statue breaks apart to reveal a "White Doll": the Turn-A Gundam, allowing Loran to fend off the invaders. rest of the series becomes more of a mystery to how the supposedly-peace loving Moonrace could allow of such brutality.
The setting of the Correct Century timeline alone is one of the draws of Turn-A, though its excellent characters and compelling mystery also help a lot.
I do however have two warnings for people interested in watching it. The first is that this series was never dubbed. While it did receive an official sub in 2015, there still isn't a dub for the series. So if that bothers you, there's your warning.
The other is that there's a pretty big twist in the latter part of the series that while I will not spoil it here, it's such a big deal that I can't not mention it. It doesn't make any sense, and it actively detracts from not just the series, but the whole franchise. You'll know it when you see it. It doesn't ruin my enjoyment, but a lot of people don't like Turn-A for that alone.

Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Favourite entry. Don't care. It's peak.
In the Year 60 of the Future Century, war has been abandoned by the nations of humanity in favour of the Gundam fight: a quad-annual fighting tournament between Gundams representative of the countries of the world where the winner rules space until the next Gundam fight, all while leaving the Earth ecologically devastated in the fighting. Neo-Japan's Gundam Fighter: Domon Kasshu arrives on Earth seeking information on his older brother Kyoji, who killed their mother and led to their father's arrest before stealing the experimental Devil Gundam to Earth, beating up every Gundam Fighter in his way. However, he eventually learns of far more dangerous revelations about the incident.
G Gundam is to put it bluntly: bat-shit insane. And I love it. It basically took a look at the then-stagnating franchise in the wake of the wet fart that was Victory Gundam and said "I know what can save this franchise, Bruce Lee movies!" And it somehow worked.
Word of advice: watch it dubbed. Mark Gatha absolutely kills it as Domon every time, and puts just the right amount of ham into every line.
So yeah, that's some stuff on Gundam. This was a long post to write out. I'm gonna take a break now.
