How To Clean Hard Water Buildup from Your Coffee Maker
Hard water buildup in your coffee maker will reduce the machine's efficiency, increase your wait time, and affect the taste and quality of your cup of coffee. Here, we've shared the 6 best methods to remove calcium deposits and hard water buildup from a coffee maker. 📌 Key Takeaways: - You can clean hard water buildup from a coffee maker with white vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice, and commercial cleaners. - Keeping your coffee maker mineral-free will prevent reduced efficiency and burnout as a result of calcium buildup. - If you want to eliminate the need to remove mineral deposits from your coffee maker, consider installing a POE water softener. 🧽 6 Best Methods To Remove Mineral Deposits From A Coffee Maker Here are the methods we recommend to clean your coffee maker and remove stubborn mineral stains. You don't need to try all these methods - just pick one or two that are the most convenient for you based on the items you already have at home. Method 1: White Vinegar Brew The coffee maker cleaning method that takes the least effort is the white vinegar brew. You just need distilled white vinegar and water - and around 10 minutes of free time. Here's what to do: - Remove the pot, coffee filter basket, and carafe, and thoroughly wash the items in a bowl of warm water and soap. Dry the parts and return them to the coffee maker. - Mix equal parts white vinegar and water, then replace the coffee filter and fill the pot with this solution. Program the machine to perform a brewing cycle. - Turn the coffee machine off when the cycle is halfway through, then leave it to sit for 30 minutes. This will give the warm vinegar time to grab onto the calcium deposits inside the machine and pull them away from surfaces. - Switch the coffee machine back on and allow it to complete its cycle. - Repeat the process twice over with a batch of fresh water, except this time, wait just 10 minutes after stopping the cycle mid-way through. This will get rid of any lingering vinegar tastes. - Rinse your coffee pot several times, then wipe it clean to get rid of any water spots. It should now be ready for use once more. Vinegar not done the trick? Try adjusting the vinegar and water solution so the ratio of vinegar to water is greater. The more vinegar you use, the more cleaning strength the solution will have. Don't use too much vinegar, though - undiluted vinegar may damage the internal parts of the machine. Method 2: Baking Soda And Water A similar scale-removal coffee machine cleaning solution is baking soda and water. This is a convenient method if you're a baking fan and already have baking soda in your kitchen cupboards, so you won't have to make a dedicated shopping trip for cleaning supplies. Here's what to do: - Start by thoroughly washing and drying the coffee pot, filter basket, and carafe. - Measure a quarter cup of baking soda, then add it to the reservoir. - Fill the reservoir with hot water. - Run the machine for two complete cycles. - Empty out the pot and rinse it thoroughly with warm water. Your coffee pot should now be clean and scale-free. If you can still see calcium buildup, repeat the process or follow up with another method listed here. Method 3: Lemon Juice Soak If you don't have any distilled white vinegar at home but you do have lemon juice, we recommend the lemon juice soak* method. Lemon juice is similar to white vinegar in that both solutions are acidic, so they're capable of eating away at calcium deposits in a way that most cleaners with a neutral pH can't. For this method, you just need lemon juice (either fresh juice from a lemon or store-bought bottled juice) and some warm water. Here's what to do: - Measure half a cup of lemon juice and add it to your coffee pot. - Fill the rest of the pot with warm water. - Run a brewing cycle and wait for it to finish. - Pour the lemon juice and water mix back into the coffee pot and leave it to soak for 15-20 minutes. - Using the same lemon solution in the coffee pot, run a second brewing cycle. - Thoroughly rinse the coffee pot in warm water, using dish soap to remove any lingering residue. - Finish by running three cycles with water, dumping the pot every time. Lemon juice isn't as unappealing as white distilled vinegar, but that still doesn't mean you'll want it affecting your coffee taste. Make sure to rinse your coffee maker thoroughly after deep cleaning it with lemon juice to eliminate any remaining flavors or odors after cleaning. *Don't have any lemon juice? You can achieve the same results using a mixture of citric acid and water. Method 4: Hydrogen Peroxide Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic liquid that's used to prevent infection of cuts, scrapes, and minor burns. It has a whole host of uses around the home, including as an effective scale remover. To use hydrogen peroxide to remove mineral deposits from a coffee maker, you just need one cup of hydrogen peroxide and some hot water. Follow these steps: - Measure one cup of hydrogen peroxide and add it to your coffee pot. - Fill the remainder of the pot with hot water. - Run a full cycle, then rinse the coffee pot and check it for mineral buildup. - If the coffee pot isn't completely clean, repeat the process with the brewed hydrogen peroxide liquid. - Once the calcium deposits are completely dissolved, empty out the solution. - Rinse the coffee pot in warm water and dish soap. - Fill the pot with clean water and run two or three cycles, dumping and refilling the water after every cycle. - Once the machine is clean, rinse the coffee pot once more and leave it to dry. Method 5: Vinegar And Water Soak Don't have access to power, or just looking for an overnight solution that doesn't require waiting for your coffee maker to run several brew cycles? You can also clean your coffee maker with a vinegar and water soak. For this method, you'll just need some distilled white vinegar and some fresh water from your tap. Follow these steps: - Combine equal parts vinegar and hot water in a tub or large bucket. - Remove the pot, filter basket, and carafe, and submerge them in the vinegar water solution. - Leave the components to sit in the solution for a few hours. If the calcification is particularly tough, leave the components to soak overnight. - Remove the components from the solution and rinse them thoroughly in hot water, using a soft-bristled toothbrush or a rag to scrub away any lingering deposits. Method 6: Coffee Maker Descaler If you've tried using white vinegar or baking soda and it didn't provide the results you were hoping for, your last resort is to use a commercial coffee maker descaling solution. You can buy coffee machine descalers from some coffee brands and most of the big marketplaces online. Some brands sell tablets that you need to dissolve in water, while others sell liquid formulas that you can measure out and add to the water reservoir as you would with white vinegar or another natural cleaner. Different coffee maker descalers have different uses, so make sure to follow the instructions closely, and measure carefully - you don't want to damage your machine or put your health at risk. 🤔 Why Remove Mineral Deposits From A Coffee Maker? There are a few reasons why you should remove mineral deposits from your coffee maker. First, calcium buildup is unattractive. If you pride yourself on having a sparkling-clean kitchen, you probably don't want to spoil appearances with a stained, white-crusted coffee pot. Looks aside, mineral deposits in a coffee maker can damage the machine and shorten its lifespan. Coffee makers and espresso machines aren't designed to perform efficiently when they're coated with set-in calcium deposits. Calcium acts as a layer of insulation, meaning your coffee maker has to work harder to heat water to the desired temperature, and excess mineral buildup may clog various pipes and components, preventing the machine from working as it should. These factors put your coffee maker at a greater risk of burnout, so coffee machines used with hard water typically have shorter lifespans. Plus, using hard water in the coffee brewing process will give your coffee an unpleasant bitter taste, so your regular brew might be hindered by a buildup of mineral deposits in your coffee pot. ✅ How To Prevent Mineral Formation In A Coffee Maker It's all very well knowing how to clean out a coffee maker to remove calcium buildup, but what if you don't want the hassle of regular cleaning? 👨🔧 To prevent mineral deposits from forming in the first place, you have one solution: install a water softener. A water softener is a unit that's installed on your main water line. It softens water by exchanging the hardness minerals with small amounts of sodium, so water is no longer able to form scale. After you install a water softener, all the water that comes out of your faucets will be soft, so you don't have to take any extra effort to make the water suitable for use in your coffee maker. Of course, you'll still have to clean your machine for hygiene and sanitation purposes, but you'll no longer have the arduous task of removing stubborn hard water stains. Continue Reading: Unveiling the secrets to soft water: Best water softeners reviewed More Content: - Hard Water Stain Removal Hacks: 6 Easy and Affordable Techniques - Can a Whole House Water Filter Provide Softened Water? 📑 Final Word Mineral deposits are common features of coffee makers, but thankfully, there are a few easy ways to remove them at home. Clean your coffee maker regularly to prevent excess mineral deposits. You just need one of several cupboard essentials, like vinegar, baking soda, or lemon juice. Or, if you want a cleaner that's specially designed for coffee makers, consider commercial cleaners. You might have thought it was impossible to get your coffee maker looking like new after months of years of calcium buildup, but with some thorough cleaning and the right cleaners, you can get your coffee maker clean and sparkling once more. ❔ FAQs Why is there white stuff in my coffee maker? White stuff in coffee makers or coffee pots is usually caused by calcium buildup. Mineral deposits are whiteish-gray and have a rough, crusty texture to touch. They're caused by hard water - so if you use tap water with a high mineral concentration in your coffee pot regularly, you're likely dealing with the effects of this water in your machine. How do you clean a calcified coffee maker? The best way to clean a calcified coffee maker is by running a vinegar solution through the machine two or three times. The vinegar will lift the mineral deposits from the entire machine, clearing the calcium and bringing it back to like-new condition. Can you use Borax to clean a coffee maker? No, you shouldn't use Borax to clean a coffee maker. Borax isn't food-safe, and has several concerning side effects if ingested by humans. If you plan to use a commercial cleaner that can remove mineral deposits from coffee makers, check that it doesn't contain Borax before you spend your money. Is it safe to use CLR to clean coffee maker? It's safe to use CLR (calcium, lime, rust remover) for removing calcium buildup in some coffee makers, but not others. It's generally recommended that you don't use CLR in espresso machines, or in coffee makers sold by Cuisinart, Gevalia, or Keurig. Contact the manufacturer or check the product manual for more information. How often should I clean my coffee maker? You should clean your coffee maker every three-to-six months, depending on your water quality and how often you use the machine. If you use the machine twice a day or more and you have hard water, clean the machine at least once every three months to prevent long-lasting mineral damage. Read the full article

Love Teams (Finn x Filipinx!Reader Kilig One-Shot)
GIF credit: I don’t know, but it’s not mine.
Pairing: AU Finn x Filipinx!Reader, Poe Dameron x Filipinx!Reader (Platonic)
Warnings: Cringe. Cursing. Drinking to get over secondhand embarrassment.
Word count: 1,148 words
A/N: Kinda ironic how I can write and read kilig, but I can’t watch it. Anyway, this was based off when my friends and I decided to watch “She’s Dating the Gangster.” Here is the link to the specific scene they talk about.
Requested by: @princeabomination
Kilig is a Tagalog word to describe the feeling of excitement and exhilaration and possibly embarrassment from anything remotely romantic.

“Whose stupid idea was this?” you asked, placing a second bottle of wine on the coffee table before snuggling in between Finn and Poe.
“Oh come on! We had to watch it after you showed us the trailer!” Finn exclaimed. He was currently snacking on the grapes and cheese you had set out. Poe, the eternal third wheel of your relationship with Finn, grabbed one of the wine bottles and got to work on popping the cork.
“I told you guys, I can’t watch this stuff. The secondhand embarrassment is too much. We’re going to have to pause the movie every ten minutes, so I can get up,” you huffed, crossing your arms. It was your brilliant idea to hang out and watch a movie. In your defense, you were joking when you showed them the trailer to a Filipino rom-com called “She’s Dating the Gangster.” Finn and Poe, however, insisted on watching the cheesy movie, partly because of genuine interest, but mostly to watch you cringe for two hours.
“However long it takes, we are going to watch this movie!” Poe finally popped the cork on the wine, pouring all three of you equal amounts. He then swirled the glass and sipped it, making a show of smacking his mouth to really get the taste.“Ahh…that’s..disappointing.”
“You chose that wine,” Finn remarked.
“This movie is in Tagalog!” you interrupted. You were ready to pull out all the stops to not watch this movie.
“We know how to read, Y/N” Poe replied. “Ok so can you explain everything again from the top?”
You groaned. “Ok so in Philippines, they have love teams. Think Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato. Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez. Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus…you get it. Anyway, these love teams make a whole bunch of movies and commercials together because their chemistry sells. Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo have been a love team for years now, and they’re actually dating in real life. Filipinos looooove a good rom-com. The more kilig, the better.”
“Do they always have to be dating to be a love team?” Finn asked.
“I don’t think so, but the most successful ones are dating,” you answered. “In the movie, there’s two couples played by the same actors, but in different times. Modern-day couple is the one going on a crazy adventure. 90’s couple is the one who pretends to be in a relationship but then the girl falls in love for real. Oh noooooo.” You took a significant swig of your wine in preparation for the cringe you were about to feel.
“Damn, babe. We could have been a great love team.” Finn remarked. He put his arm around you, and you snuggled into his side, reveling in the warmth he provided. He tilted your chin and placed a sweet kiss on your lips. “Do you think they’d make a love team name for us?”
“Oh god and have to do these movies?!” You grabbed the blanket and curled it around your hands, ready to act as a shield when the movie gets too kilig. You felt something heavy settle across your lap. You looked down and saw Poe had made himself comfortable by sitting sideways, resting his legs and feet across your lap and Finn’s, respectively. “You’re way too comfortable sometimes, Dameron.”
“That’s because you guys are my number one love team,” Poe toasted his cup to us. Finn burst out laughing at his best friend’s remarks while you rolled your eyes and started the movie.
Approximately an hour into the movie, 7 pauses, and a bottle of wine later, it was safe to say Finn and you were tipsy while Poe was wine-drunk. If it wasn’t apparent from your wine-stained lips, it became really obvious through Poe’s and your live commentary. On the screen, the modern-day couple were dancing in the bed of a moving truck, sharing headphones, having a cute moment, while a romantic song that completely mismatched the tempo of their dance played overhead. The modern-day couple’s truck dancing scene would switch with the 90’s couple’s club dancing scene. The truck from modern day stopped in the middle of the road. The couple was oblivious to the halt in movement, caught up in each other’s eyes. The truck’s driver exits with a shit-eating grin on his face, looking at the couple who were holding each other in the bed of his truck, lost to the world around them. The driver asked, “Ano nangyayari diyan? Okay lang kayo?!” (What’s happening there? Are y’all ok?).
You paused the movie once again. Grabbing the second bottle, you poured more wine into your cup, yelling, “This ninong-looking-ass motherfucker! Agh I can’t take this! It’s cute but so cringe.” You drank a huge gulp, begging your body to let go of the embarrassment that you were feeling.
“They really love each other, don’t they? Their love even inspired a young couple years down the line.” Finn muttered, invested in the movie while you could only scrunch your face in return. Poe remained quiet, still sitting sideways. He was scanning your cups of wine together with the intense concentration that only a wine-drunk man could possess. You were about to play the movie when Poe suddenly got up, moving his legs off your lap and his feet off Finn’s lap, nearly knocking Finn’s drink in the process. Poe got on his knees in front of the coffee table and pushed both your cup and his side-to-side, sloshing the dark burgundy liquid around. He brought his face level to the cups, studying the meniscus, which were at the same level. Meanwhile, Finn and you remained snuggled on the couch, watching Poe as he took your cup and poured more wine into his cup then downed it.
“Poe! Babe did you see that?” You looked up at Finn, who couldn’t hold in his laughter and was clutching his stomach from having previously laughed so hard from Poe’s and your live commentary throughout the movie. “Babe! He took my wine!”
Poe rolled his eyes. He settled sideways against the couch again, placing his legs into your laps and his feet into Finn’s. “Yeah she deserved it,” Poe slurred.
“Finn!” You whined. “He took my wine!”
“Babe, it’s ok! Look.” Finn comforted. He leaned forward and grabbed the bottle of wine, refilling yours generously. You grinned, sipping from your cup. You lifted Finn’s arm, placed it around your shoulder, and burrowed yourself into his side. Finn happily obliged, kissing the temple of your forehead. You grabbed his jaw in return, giving him proper kisses that tasted of wine and cheese.
“You.” Kiss. “Are.” Kiss. “The.” Kiss. “Cutest.” Kiss.
“Awwww you guys!” Poe cooed then gagged. “I think I’m gonna go throw up.”

i hated the plot twist of star wars the force awakens. like you use a black character, Finn, to hold the blue lightsaber in every merchandise to show that the real new jedi is Rey, a white woman. Then Finn end the movie in a coma, it's not good. Also the entire thing of "poor Rey doesn't know who are her parents, she deserve to know" but then Finn was kidnapped and also doesn't know about his family but fandom/media doesn't care about his parents etc.
Oh, SW. As a person who grew up waaaaay out of the influence of the franchise aside from fanboys screaming about Darth Vader in daycare, I feel like I might’ve liked it better if I watched it at a young age. I liked TFA. R1 and the OT were fine, I want to scourge the prequels and Solo from my memory (except for Enfys Nest), and TLJ just felt weird as a continuation of TFA. I wouldn’t call what you describe–commercial bait and switch of Finn as a Jedi–a plot twist, but more purposely false marketing. If I were to name a plot twist in TFA, it would be what happened to Han. The way the ST has treated its marginalized characters has been kind of bizarre. Like, what even was the characterization of Poe in TLJ? How did he go from being a sweet pilot rebel boy to an angry pushy douche? Why antagonistically position Holdo and Poe against each other and then show her admiring him with Leia at the end? Why write Holdo making annoying and inconvenient leadership decisions for plot convenience? Why market Holdo as a wlw and then not make it evident in any way throughout the movie? Why have both the lead MOC be slapped by white people? Why make a mystery around Rey’s parentage in XII just to have it fall flat in XIII? Why hype up the ST/Disney SW as feminist while only casting brunette white women as leads? Why shove Finn and Rose into a weird war profiteering side plot with CGI horses and the most forced romance next to An/idala? Why make Rey’s storyline all about Luke and Kyle Ron? Why have the trio separate from each other most of the movie? WHY?! And also, to your point, the way that Finn was awoken from the coma was really bad. I read this meta awhile ago comparing the way he was introduced in TFA vs in TLJ, and it was eye-opening. In the first one, he’s emotive and the lighting is flattering and intense. In TLJ, his first sequence is meant to be funny, specifically using physical comedy rather than letting Boyega do his thing with his face or dialogue. Meanwhile Kyle’s injury is healing while he’s staring pensively into the distance. What the hell? Luckily, JJ is returning for TROS and it looks like he’s gonna try to put the ST back on track by giving the main trio more play in IX. Finn’s hair looks amazing and so does Rey doing the backflip into the ship thingy and Poe shooting something on that vehicle. So I’m excited for the three of them at least

4 Best IP Cameras for Live Streaming
IP Camera or Internet Protocol Camera is a category of digital devices designed for flawless live video streaming. It either uses Ethernet cables or a Wi-Fi connection to connect to your local network. From there, the signal can be consumed by a software switcher or sent directly to a media server or social media network. Both options (Ethernet vs. Wi-Fi) have their merits and demerits.
Ethernet vs. Wi-Fi
Ethernet cables can manage larger amounts of data than Wi-Fi. It also allows a higher quality image and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), so cameras only require one cable for all. The shortcoming of utilizing Ethernet cables is that IP cameras can only be positioned as far away as the cable permits. If you can’t get an Ethernet cable to a place, then this connection is not an alternative.
IP cameras utilizing Wi-Fi provide more mobility. They can be positioned anywhere they can receive power — so long as the Wi-Fi signal is also accessible. This makes them easier to drop around the house near an electrical vent. On the downside, signals over Wi-Fi need much more compression since the bandwidth is limited. This can lead to a lower quality image resolution. For the original intended use of IP cameras, which was in CCTV (closed-circuit television) surveillance applications, this worked just fine. But in several modern applications, low-quality video is not an alternative.
Streaming Protocols
Usually, the IP camera signal uses the RTSP (Real-time Streaming Protocol). It was designed for IP Cameras used for CCTV, particularly for security systems using a local area network. It is also great for live events because it allows you to use a switcher software to consume multiple RTSP signals and switch between video feeds during a presentation. It is simple to assign a specific IP address to a camera and reference several cameras. However, it creates problems for those who need to send one signal remotely over the internet to a media server, as they would need a public static IP address.
To resolve this problem, several manufacturers have integrated the RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol) into their IP Cameras. There is a major difference between RTMP and RTSP. RTSP is pulled by the media and that’s why it needs a public IP address to locate it, whereas RTMP is pushed to its single destination, and therefore needs an open connection to the internet.
4 Best IP Cameras for Live Streaming
PTZOptics 12X-SDI camera
It is an excellent studio camera. It provides a sharp image in low light and has a 3.5mm audio plug that allows you to pull audio in from the camera itself. As a production camera, it has pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) controls that can be accomplished via an infrared (IR) remote that comes with the camera, through IP with a joystick accessible as a separate purchase, as well as with software available as an app for your phone and switcher software. The PTZOptics uses RTSP signals, but this can be switched to use RTMP.
These types of IP cameras need an Ethernet connection and also allow for Power over Ethernet (PoE). If you are working in a larger space like a church or football field, 20x and 30x alternatives are available. Versions are also accessible that utilize the NDI protocol.
Axis Communications
It is popular in the surveillance industry. It is reasonable and comes with a 720p dope camera. You can also choose a pricey one with a 4K camera that allows remote PTZ Control. As commercial-grade streaming equipment, it is intended to stream via RTSP, but PTZ controls can be done directly through Muvi’s Live Streaming Engine.
Reolink E1 Zoom
