there's a lot to be said about the political atmosphere of the late 2000s/entirety of the 2010s being infested with alt right gateways like pewdiepie, filthy frank, idubbbz, leafyishere, "sjw gets owned compilation" videos and all that, and there absolutely were adult nazis and other white supremacists grooming children and teens in vulnerable mindsets into thinking they had a community in the right wing, but to say or act like anyone who fell down the alt right pipeline at any point in life are the main victims in this situation is absolving them of any accountability and responsibility for traumatizing minorities

Clark grows up on Amity

So! When Clark's shup landed on the Kent Farm, it unfortunately started a bit of a Fire. It was pretty bad, and by the time it was put out most of their Crops had been burned up.

Using their Savings, the money from the remaining Crops, and some goodwill from their neighbors, the Kent's managed to get enough money together to move to a new Town to start over. It also helped that in a new town nobody would question them suddenly having a Baby despite Martha not being Pregnant.

They Move to a small farm on the Edge of Amity Park.

Clark Kent grows up in Amity Park, goes to Casper High, and befriends Danny, Sam, and Tucker as his childhood friends.

When his powers come in, they are the first ones to know. When Danny has his Accident, Clark is there to help him control his new abilities. When Clark has to move away for his new Job in Metropolis, they are all there to wish him good luck and throw him a Going Away Party.

As Superman, Clark is more open to joining a Team since he used to be on Team Phantom.

When Justice League Dark is formed, Superman is a Suprise Member, since he actually had a lot of experience with the Supernatural.

When Kon is born, he turns to his best friends for help and advice on his to deal with the situation. Danny had Ellie in very similar circumstances, so he is more open to the idea of adopting Kon since he has personal experience with Clones made by Madmen.

writing is so silly because you have to maintain the understanding that you're not more specialer than anyone else and your work needs improvement and you have more to learn. but also you have to fully believe that your stuff is amazing. mindblowing. masterpiece the likes of which no one has ever seen before. you really have to hold these contradictory beliefs next to each other and force them to play nice. it's like shoving your shoulder angel and devil into a "get-along shirt." It doesn't make any sense. But if you don't, you're not going to get anywhere

You have to pursue what your writing Could Be with dogged determination while unflinchingly perceiving what it Actually Is. You have to accept that you're not more deserving or likely to succeed than any other writer, but you also have to love and honor and cling to your own specific mad genius because no one else is going to do it for you. Writing is really hard and it's also really worth it.

I don’t like minimizing the importance and gravity of Laios and Toshiro’s fight into just being a childish squabble, even if to a degree it is framed that way, because to both of them it has a lot of personal significance and emotional weight and runs very deep to their characters… The fight isn’t nothing it’s a LOT, they made up but it’s not something easy to express and to get over for either of them which makes it all the more meaningful! I’m on both sides but there very much are sides, there’s no "they’re both having a ball, Toshiro and Laios hand in hand yay" side to the fight, that comes after

The fight with Toshiro WAS very scary to Laios, almost existentially so, but it’s moreso the "I thought I’d made a friend!!" bit and my god. My god actually

Like it’s not "just" about oh his friend liking him less than he thought, THAT IS SO MUCH. It’s a bond he thought he had being a lie it’s all the time and moments spent together either being a lie from his perspective or marred now looking back. It’s not only being upset at Toshiro for lying but upset at himself that he’s so easy to fool, it’s being upset that there’s something so wrong with you that you can’t even tell if your "close buddy" even actually likes you or not, it’s like. Holding my head. He can’t trust his own vision of events that happened do you see. There’s always this film of distrust that it could be a lie that should be there when he interacts with people there’s always this sense of cloak and dagger to expect backstabs out of nowhere because you CAN’T see it coming you CAN’T you CAN’T there’s something about you which makes it impossible so you CAN’T-

He’s so scared of not being able to read people. He knows it’s a weak spot he has, he’s always known. All of these bits are centered around social expectations and betrayals, the assumption that he doesn’t belong either in society or with other humans.

And Laios’ level of awareness is actually sort of complex to analyze, but it’s there, there’s how out of him and Falin he was the one sensitive to the ~aura of hatred~ he felt from the townspeople, there’s of course his nightmares whispering to him about the mocking looks, and how yeah actually he realizes that his gold stripper coworker was taking advantage of him. There’s of course the Winged Lion speech about his trauma and how he fundamentally mistrusts/dislikes humans to some deep seated degree, this distrust that he still keeps under control always. There’s how pre-canon he often wanted to suggest eating monsters but never worked up the courage to bring it up with the others. There’s how he gets across as stoic when he isn’t being enthusiastic…… We don’t know how aware and wary he is exactly in the moment but we do know he has some anxiety around social stuff, and looking back he does notice and aughh augh, the sense you have to hide yourself to not get hurt and be on your guard and shit and.

When you don’t know what to look out for and when to look out for it, the general ‘common sense’ of not always trusting people or noticing when someone’s messing with you becomes hypervigilance in social settings

It’s so quick that it’s almost hard to digest how literal and blatant Laios summoning his monster to crush all the people who’ve hurt him is. The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.

I was in a road trip in Arizona, it was nighttime and I was looking out the window. I tried to think about just random stuff to let the time pass, but then I started to dream of a scenario where Vasco went over to Machete's grave, he was grieving and pretty much just talking to the grave about how there could've been some way to save him, or that he will never see him again, and stuff like he lost a piece of himself and how he would honor him. It was very emotional but that was the only thing I thought about for like 20 minutes until he ended his conversation and left

I've been thinking about this a little bit, and I'm not quite sure how easy it would be for Vasco to visit Machete's grave, to be honest. As a high ranking member of the clergy he'd most likely be entombed in a crypt underneath one of Rome's hundreds of churches, maybe one that held some kind of significance for him. As a secular citizen with no family relations to him, I'd imagine it could be challenging for Vasco to gain access to such a private and sacred space, at least unless he managed to pull some strings. But then again, I'm just theoretizing. He could and would still visit the church that stands above it.

Steve, the absolute madman, doesn't even look up at Eddie when he replies. "I don't think everclear is vodka," he says, turning the bottle in his hand. He squints at the label. "...Yeah, definitely doesn't say the word vodka anywhere on here. So probably fine, right?"

"I need you to understand that that's worse," Eddie hisses. This week is going to be the death of him—he's never been so stressed out in his life. "You're going to burn your skin off."

Finally, Steve looks up at him. "Everclear burns skin off?" he asks, incredulous, like Eddie's being serious. "Why do people drink it then?"

Steve Harrington is determined to be Eddie's last straw.

"Probably to forget the monster portals that apparently keep popping up around town, now give me that, you psycho," Eddie says, snatching the alcohol from him. "And it's cheap. But, you're gonna do more damage than good with that crap, and it'll hurt worse than rubbing alcohol."

But Steve puffs up, shoulder's back. "I can handle pain, it's fine!" he insists. "I need to be in top shape for this!"

Eddie blows out a frustrated breath. Damn this guy. Eddie had just had a heartfelt moment with Dustin and he was feeling pretty gooey about there little group afterwards, and then Robin Buckley, looking a little green, had asked Eddie to help Steve with his rabies. If Eddie had known it's be like herding cats, he might have refused.

"Just trust me, man," Eddie says, tossing the bottle out the door. Someone squawks in surprise, but Eddie doesn't spare them a thought. "Now let's go find you some niiice peroxide or literally anything NOT specifically made to destroy your liver and flesh."

"Fine," Steve grumbles. And then has the audacity to pout, which has the added consequence of being cute and Eddie's going to have an aneurysm before it's all over. "They do it in the movies all the time."

"Yeah," Eddie sighs. He grabs Steve's arm and drags him towards the little bathroom. "Unfortunately, this isn't a movie, big guy."

Steve huffs again, but he doesn't shake off Eddie's hold. His skin is warm under Eddie's hand, his pulse jumping against his cold fingers. Eddie squeezes a little, just to feel the thump, thump, thump of Steve being alive—pretends Steve's heartbeat is an unspoken promise, that all of this is going to be okay.
