Comic Sonic Super Study 11
Previously, on the Comic Sonic Super Study:
And now:
Yeah, so it turns out that, according to the wiki, I read these books in the wrong order. I was supposed to read this one, and then the 48 page special. Whoops. Can't unread it, now. Believe me, I would if I could.
Regardless, it'll be interesting, since this and the special both feature tie-ins. The Sonic and Knuckles Special was a tie-in to Sonic Frontiers, and this one is a Sonic CD tie-in, so I do wanna see the difference between one handled by Penders and Kanterovich, and one handled by Mike Gallagher.
BUT YOOOO, GALLAGHER AND SPAZ -- I'M GONNA HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH THIS ISSUE!
I forgot about how much Gallagher likes to lean into the fact that these comics are a video game adaptation. Even if the way he did it was actually kinda strange. Good on you, Mike.
Goodness, this hands-down the biggest fourth-wall-breaks Gallagher's done to date, and that's a feat. Amy herself wrote a Sonic-Gram letter. The implications of this are off the scale.
Don't you know trouble keeps him running faster, Sally?
Shoutout to Antoine, trying to keep things in order, and Sally, being confronted with reality that when Sonic really has his mind set on something, it's gonna happen, and then Rotor. Mans didn't say not one thing during this meeting. King. I like to believe it's because he knew there was no point trying to stop him.
Also, I can't remember. Is this comic the first time Mike Gallagher has written Snively?
Crazy how this comic features the first interaction between Amy and Tails in the history of the franchise.
Spaz really just went all in on this. Also, Japanese Eggman design over there in the back, and a Virtua Fighter ad, along with a Sega Saturn ad.
We almost got out of this without a Sonic and Sally ship tease, but I see that my karma isn't quite that good.
But my boy Spaz makes up for it with the next panel -- excellent framing, with every relevant party depicted in completely non-intrusive fashion. Main event up front, Rotor driving off to do his part in the back, and Sally parachuting down on the other side, and a dynamic angle. If nobody got me, I know Patrick Spaziante got me, but let's not forget Barry Grossman's impeccable coloring, and the sweet strong black inks that make Metal Sonic's metal exterior really come together, so thanks to Harvey Mercadoocasio for that as well.
Speaking of the art team going all in, check that super peel-out! It's always been my favorite way to depict Sonic running, and man does this deliver.
Man, I'd kill for a textless poster of this page.
He's not.
Anyway, this post wasn't supposed to go so long (I mean, it was one issue) but I guess I had a lot to say. Catch y'all later.

Oooh, I have a college class today and studying to do for next week, but I just HAVE to get this thought off my chest!
Mimic cannot mimic abilities such as Sonic's super speed, Silver/Blaze's abilities or even Tangle's stretchy tail as confirmed in the Tangle and Whisper series.
This idea that was tossing around in my head was Mimic pretending to be Silver but he can't use psychokinesis at all, so someone like Blaze susses him out because Silver ALWAYS uses his abilities even for simple things like floating around.
So Blaze doesn't immediately attack Mimic but tells him, "Hey, Silver, earlier you said you wanted to spar, well, I have some free time now!" Fire ignites in her hand.
Mimic is nervous because he thinks she'll figure him out but doesn't realize that she already has, so he says "oh—oh no, actually I'm not feeling well."
Blaze leans in close, "that's such a shame. You've always been one of the few who aren't afraid of fire enough to challenge me and I've never had to worry about accidentally hurting you since you can protect yourself so well." Her word punctuated by the fire in her hand closer and hotter to not-Silver's face.
Ooh, I would write a one shot on this if I had time. Blaze being badass and intimidating—I absolutely love it. I don't think this will happen in the IDW because I feel like Mimic would have to be a moron to mimic someone like Silver, but he did mimic Sonic and just walked everywhere—so I guess there is a chance.
I am SUPER excited to see Silver and Blaze on the covers of this issue because I was worried that Silver wouldn't get involved with the Mimic situation after the issue where he and Whisper tried to expose Duo as Mimic. I really loved that Mimic found Silver intimidating and didn't want to be around him so he tried to literally end his life to no avail, ha! Also I can't wait to see Lanolin finally realize that she was wrong about Duo whom she sees like herself as someone who isn't special or powerful like Sonic or Silver etc. Her world is going to absolutely shatter, I think—which is great because she's building up to some big character arc and I want to see what she's like on the other side (probably a nicer, humble character, but maybe they have the guts to make her into a villain because she becomes even more controlling? I don't think that would happen, but I would find it really interesting).
I would love to see my favourite characters (Silver and Blaze) be badass powerhouses, so I hope they get good action in the upcoming comics!
(Trying to ignore my pessimistic side over seeing Blaze on the cover but remembering that she was on the cover of Spring Broken but wasn't in the story...no, no, she is front and centre—she HAS to be in the story or I RIOT)

BONUS! MOD'S CHOICE POLL!
Mod's Propaganda Under the Cut:
Judai:
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a Yu-Gi-Oh fan. For whatever reason, this series imprinted on me when I was a child and I just never let it go. I've watched the original series, season 0, GX, 5Ds, and Arc V, as well as read the original manga, the GX manga, and the Arc V manga, as well as watched all the movies. The point is: I like Yu-Gi-Oh. There are people who like it more than me, that have watched all the series and what not, but I think I still like it an absurd amount. And out of all the protagonists I know, Judai is my favorite. He's just so lovable, you can't help but like him! He's goofy, he's reliable, he's fun, he has a descent into madness, he's gay, what more could you want in a shounen protagonist? Though being sleepy isn't a major part of him, it's more of a gag of him slacking in class and always going to sleep, it's still super funny and I'm a little sad that he lost in Round 1, though I do like Sonic as well (who he lost to). Give the Slifer Slacker a chance!
Linhardt:
Considering Linhardt is my profile picture at the moment, I don't think I need to justify this too much. But I will anyway. Linhardt is the sleepy crest scholar. Although I will be the first to admit that I am not actually a Fire Emblem fan (and tbh I find the writing in Three Houses kind of bad) (sorry to those who enjoy it) I love Linhardt so much anyway. He's probably my favorite in that very large cost. I love that he's so unapologetically sleepy, like he doesn't care if you scold him to do work, he will do work on his own time. Not only that, but he's actually really smart and dedicated when he wants to be. Linny's friendship with Caspar is really nice, especially since I think someone needs to save Caspar from his awful dad & self-destructive tendencies. Plus, I really like his supports. Especially with Marianne, Hubert, and Edelgard. His supports with Dorothea in Three Hopes is also really nice.
Garfield:
It's Garfield. He's a classic comic. He's a classic meme. Little orange kitty. What more could you possibly want? I love Snoopy, but to be perfectly honest I think Garfield should have gotten as far as Snoopy.
Sleepytime Tea Bear:
Again. He's just a classic. What more would you want but a sleepy bear in pajamas on a chair?
Olruggio:
I'm a big Witch Hat Atelier fan and I love Olruggio. Like yes, I like Orufrey like everyone else, but I also just like Olruggio on his own. I like his scruffy little look and I love the fact that at first he is so intimating but almost immediately he's revealed to be a big softie. I love his light magic motif and I really think it's sweet that he made the thing to keep you warm when you sleep and gave it to the kids-- he's a FATHER. This man needs a nap fr though. Man I need to catch up with this manga.
Osaka:
IT'S OSAKA. Like!!! I don't even know how many clips and comics from Azumanga Daioh make the rounds around Tumblr, but specifically the ones about Osaka are amazing!!! She has the most autistic anime girl swag I love her so much. She's so sweet and earnest and silly... I always lose my mind at "OH MAH GOD!" and she has so many other classics. Like when she makes the Osaka stamp with her eraser or when she struggles to cross the street because she keeps zoning out when the light gets green or when she's distressed about Americans wearing shoes inside... I love her. And to her sleepyheadness, she's always falling asleep in class and whenever she's studying she just starts falling asleep. She's just like me fr...
Takane:
Back in the day I really liked Kagerou Project and so as tribute to my old obsession from middle/high school I have to give a spot to Takane. My favorite part of the series was when we saw flashbacks to the Yuukei quartet and Headphone Actor is still a bop.
Tanaka:
THE REASON WHY I STARTED THIS TOURNAMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE??? Last December during finals I decided to read something light and fun while working and I chose Tanaka-kun is Always Listless because I remember the title from a few years ago when the anime came out and like I loved it SOOOOOO much. He's the ultimate sleepyboy and he's just so funny and relatable. He needs to be carried around by his best friend Ohta and his ultimate goal in life is to minimize as much effort as possible and he's always nodding off and he dislikes being a main character, instead wishing he was a background character... my favorite guy for real.

Hii! Just wanted to ask I love your comics! Sonic boom was what got me into the franchise so it's great seeing a fancomic based on it, I do have a few questions
As someone who's trying to learn how to write as a beginner? What would you say is the most important advice you can give? Were there any original ideas that you guys had but ended up scrapping and would you like to revisit those ideas?
If it was possible, which idw characters would you like to see in boom? And If robot sonic(pre upgrade?) Got touched with the metal virus, Would it infect him or not? Since he is half organic/robot?
Love the art and writing and hope both of you are doing well :] <3
MULTI:
Hi, Anon! Super glad you're enjoying the comic! I am doing well!
The best advice I can give for writers just starting out is to study what other people are doing. Watch films, read books, comics, etc. Study the structure of stories you like and see what ideas they inspire in you. If you train your mind to recognize story patterns they become easier to create!
We've only just begun on SBR so there really isn't anything scrapped in issue 1. There is, however, plenty of stuff down the road that's been rearranged or altered slightly from the initial concept to support the overall story better. I can't really say anything to that, right no without spoiling stuff!
From the IDW cast. I'd love to see Rough and Tumble in Boom. I feel like their wackiness would fit right in with the rest of the cast. Sonic and co. wouldn't take them very seriously, but they would be heavier hitters then say, the Lightning Bolt society!
Robo-Sonic 1.0 and the Metal Virus. That's a tricky one. I would think, because the Metal Virus is essentially a more organic-based form of roboticization, it would complete the organic-to-mechanical transformation just with a Zombot finish (he'd look like 1.0, still, but shiny). It would be worse for everyone, though, if Robo-Sonic became a Zombot because A) There's no Chaos Emeralds to help stop the virus, B) Robo-Sonic's finer motor control, abilities, and allegiance to Eggman would be null and C)... No, that's pretty much it unless Qwerty has anything to add!
QWERTY:
Multi gave a lot of good advice for writing. Read, pay attention, find what you like and try to emulate it. (NOT copy. Let it inspire you.)
Basically, my advice is just to write! Just start throwing words on the page. You'll never improve if you don't start. You won't know what needs worked on if you don't have anything written.
You don't need a long, drawn out plot with lots of twists and turns. Just think of a scene and write it. It might be bad. Don't let that get you down. Most writers start BAD and eventually get NOT BAD. It takes practice to get better. Lots and lots of practice.
Good luck!

First of all I LOVE THIS, AAAAHHHHH THIS IS SO GOOD!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Second of all I've been seeing people saying "oh god sonic had to watch people die but it actuality it was acting" but I see no one asking "how the fuck did he go super?" And "what about being a werehog?" And all the other form transformation that he has done over the years and also " HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN HIS FUCKING OWN DEATH TO HIM"
Like with the death one, did they put him I a forced coma? Did they tranquilise him? So many thoughts are going on it my head
On a other thought, what is he going to do now he knows that everything is 'fake'? Like he was no clue if sonic's world was real or not cause even tho we know there is no interdimensional interference going on we can't rule out that what happen to sonic was real, whether as an act or it actually happen, cause we know that in the games sonic fort a god(s) and won, and if those god(s) where real what is going on? Are all the actors playing roles that have no clue they are playing? Is sonic the only one who is in the right to believe everything is fake? Is chaos energy real or was it special effects? Is sonic like PROJECT SHADOW? Is sonic a GOD????????? (I'm twicking, or am I 🤔)
We have no clue what is real or not cause we are only the spectators. We are like sonic, we are seeing the things sonic is seeing and making theorys that sonic himself might have not even be thinking about cause our main man is going through like 30 intenal mental breakdowns in like 30 minutes, having an existential crisis and all that.
What is really going on cause it seems like 'shadow' also did not know that sonic had no idea about how they were actors in the beginning of the comic and now he is coming to terms that maybe everything he knew was a lie as well, cause we see reaction to sonic doing a spindash at the wall is when he really started to think the sonic is more then the main character of the story but an actual person who is in the dark and when 'shadow' was bring up all these things from the past we start seeing him get nervous cause he probably is thinking "oh fuck what is happening? I thought he was a actor like I am" and in reality is not
I have rambled a lot cause I love this and with The Truman Show being something I am actively studying for school my mind is going haywire
"Thank you for listening to my Ted talk"/ref
Okay, first of all, massive pretense - there are so many questions in this ask that I cannot (and will not) answer all of them.
HOWEVER.
A lot of these questions are very important, very well thought-out and certainly should not be forgotten - and rest assured, several things you ask about do indeed have answers to them (I'd go so far as to say that about 95% have answers to them, actually). I had a hell of a time reading through this with SB on a discord call and it was SUCH a doozy /pos
The problem with asks like this is that I literally can't say anything without accidentally spoiling the whole comic BUT! I will endeavor to say as much as I can!
Chaos Energy is very much a real force, but it's not universal. In fact, it's pretty much localized. Very localized.
Shamdow may have been acting with Sonic for a long time, but when you're running a long-standing show, you have sets, budgets and effects that reach well into the millions. He had no real reason to question Sonic because surely, it was all just effects. (It was not, in fact, all effects)
Sonic shares some similarities with the concept of Project Shadow, but not all - most notably, he's not an alien or a robot or whatever else Shadow has gone through when trying to figure out what he is in the games. He's not the product of science, he's very much natural.

Page 4 of 6, the rest can be seen here.
Honestly this is the part where I just get to have fun with the training montage and the reason of why I love Smash Bros like I do.
The gameplay IS fun even if I don't actually play online matches all that much (I'm not all that competitive, I play mostly solo or with friends exclusively), but to me Smash Bros is a toy box.
I love these universes and Smash Bros has introduced me to many more over the years, to me its an introduction to various things I could learn and play with, and even more fun to me its concocting how these series gel together and how you could use their elements as playthings to craft a story or a cohesive universe.
I explored this before with another massive comic I made, honestly kind of one this is a sequel to. Its "The Strongest Fighter".
To me, I am not interested at all in "who would beat who", I prefer to think of "Okay, if these two were to meet, how WOULD it go down?" or "If so was in this situation, what would they do?", the joke of the Strongest Fighter comic is not to actually decide who is the strongest in terms of made-up power levels, but rather an exploration of how these characters view and talk about one of their own in a context disguised as a poorly thought-out question.
A lot of people tend to miss this, sadly, even if Shulk points out "Anyone can beat up Kirby" rather blatantly at the end.
So, going back to Page 4, its also similarly an exploration of the question "how do you go on about getting strong in this context?".
With splatoon, there's not much other than "pick up the weapon and sink or swim, we ain't an helicopter parent, you figure it out". But when you introduce the idea of a MENTOR (specially one out of universe like Peach is) how would you go on about teaching something so abstract as getting good aim?
Its not so much that Orange needs training in weaponry at all, I did make it a point to show that she was Super Fresh with everything BUT the Chargers back on Page 1, but that her aiming skills with the Charger are so off that:
Speedy targets won't stay still (Joker just dodging out of the way)
Her shots are blantantly obvious (Samus just leaning her head to the side)
She's not using shooting at a range, so her aim is so off that she misses even in Super Flat World.
So the training montage is tackling these issues.
Study up and learn how the weapon actually works, as I said her first mistake was skipping up Sheldon's explanation, so the first thing Peach does is explain the basics of the weapon to Orange (if you notice, the billboard does show things like leading the shot as exemplified with the Rabbid, using bombs to flush out your enemies and the importance of things like Ink Saver). Basic stuff, but you do hit the books to learn your tool.
Learn in a safe envoirement that is somewhat predictable, and it is slow going (notice the timer of the Break the Targets), get used to shooting long-distance first and foremost, no matter how long it takes.
Then you introduce the erraticness (AKA: the ducks) and practice off that, Orange hit exactly half and Peach mentions as much. The dog may laugh, but its a start.
And finally, put it to the test. I specifically chose Sonic to be the target to be hit because he'd be the most erratic, fastest and would NOT allow himself to be hit that easily. Landing a headshot on Sonic has to be the hardest thing you could do.
I did mostly pick scenarios that would be funny, but I did want it to be a ramping up in getting good. Not just jumping from point A to point B and just skipping to "welp, you're a god at sniping now".
Anyway, the hidden jokes and references of this page:
I used to be a teacher (programming, if you're curious), so the panel of Inkling Girl going to school is reminiscent of my experiences as a teacher and a student. hence why Inkling Girl's set-up on the school resambles what I know rather than the desks you find on Garreg Mach. Such as taking special attention to draw the ever present ruler, using a square notebook for math, the pencil sharpener and erasers being the ones we use down here on México and the bag being a knock-off rather than an official product. Its just sort of the norm you see around here.
You may notice the random calendar on the Garreg Mach page on the top left. On the coloring process I decided to add to the joke of Inkling Girl going to school by imitating a Persona UI.
Originally the joke was to have it be styled after P5's, but the UI used wound up being Persona 3's instead. Not only is it topical thanks to Reload, but the reason I did it is that curiously -just as I was working on this panel- I hit this date on reload ( 8/10 ) and it just so happened that THIS is when you downright lose an entire week worth of days because Mitsuru decided to sign you up for summer classes without consulting you. Fitting for Inkling Girl sacrificing her own free time to learn and study.
Small thing, but if you actually read Orange's notebooks you may notice she's dividing by zero.
Just to show how much Inkling girl sucks at aiming, the break the targets timer is there to show how badly she's doing. Normally during Break the Targets you either get timed to your best time counting UP if you're doing it on the dedicated mode or counting DOWN from 2 minutes if you do it from Classic Mode. The timer instead reads 28:05.15, meaning that Peach had her do it at her own pace and its been nearly half an hour of just missing shots (since she's only been able to hit 1 target so far).
Also, the timer number may be random, but its actually Splatoon 1's release date. I love to hide significant numbers like that on my works. I forgot to mention it but Peach's player ID back on page 3 was also a release date.
And to add on to the cute factor, the platform they're standing on in Break the Targets is actually taken directly from Peach's stage. So she's lending her own target test for the practice.
Fun fact: on the Duck Hunt panel you can see the UI discussing how many ducks have been hit by Inkling Girl. Not easily apparent though is the blue bar below the ducks.
THAT is the minimum requirement. In the original Duck Hunt the UI for the duck tally would shift over to the left and be compared to that blue bar, if you didn't shoot enough ducks to go beyond where the bar was pointing at the game would end.
Essentially, Peach is asking for a bare minimum of 4 ducks to be hit, which Inkling Girl technically did as she managed 5, but she's still frustrated due to the dog's mockery.
Irregardless of how the montage was gonna go on the planning phase, I always wanted to have Sonic be the last test for Inkling's improvement because -once more- I like to think more in-character when writting down these scenarios.
Sonic is the fastest thing alive, he's capable of dodging whatever bullet or explosive eggman tends to throw at him (capable, not reliable, it depends on player input if he does so or not). So he'd be perfect for target practice, specially for something like Sniping.
Sonic's pride would NOT agree with being shot in the face, admittedly, but he could be talked into it if asked as both a challenge and a request. Peach wouldn't put anyone in danger and it is really just ink, so if its for the sake of helping others, Peach could reliably ask Sonic to do it and he'd at least take solace in helping someone else. Though he'd likely taunt and make it as hard as possible due to his ego.
To show that it was amicable and that Sonic agreed to it I had the two bits of Peach handling a tower and Sonic giving a thumbs up, to show that he was in on the plan.
I could have drawn Green Hill Zone again (in fact, the planning phase did had it AS Green Hill), but I instead opted to go with Seaside Hill as the background (kind of a mistake on my part since Ocean Palace is OBTUSE on its architecture), mostly because I wanted some scenery variety with Sonic, its not always gonna be on Green Hill Zone, you know.
The Loading screen that Inkling is having on her head while she realizes she passed the final test is from Sonic 06, which I shouldn't have to tell you that its infamous for its loading.
I originally wanted it to be Splatoon's loading icons, but those would have required animation since they're not visually understandable otherwise. So I just went with the Sonic theme and made it match.
The UI used for the last two panels are the stage clear screens for Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 1 respectively. Also, I didn't just copy-paste the assets from Splatoon 3 into the comic, every time you see the weapon icons like that its one of my recreation of those assets.

hey, you know how you did a review (basically) of colin’s character and kinda outlined or corrected any misinformation ppl make ab him (like that he’s Jon kent 2.0?) (idk how to explain- character study??? u just explained him rly well with good textual evidence)
anyways~
do you think u could do something like that for Maya Ducard? like, clear up any misconceptions ppl have ab her character and such? i want to write her but i don’t have the ability to read the comics/don’t rlly want to anyways.
Alright! Before going into a character analysis, let's talk about Maya's story. Who is Maya Ducard?
Maya Ducard is a vigilante/hero called Nobody. She is the second person to take up that mantle. The first Nobody aka Morgan Ducard aka Maya's father, was killed by Damian Wayne in Batman and Robin.
Maya finds the remains of her father's corpse beneath the sea and watches the clip of Damian killing her father. So to take revenge, she goes after Damian to kill him.
But during that time, Damian goes into a redemption trip where he tries to undo the damage he did when he was an assassin.
During on of those missions, Maya and Damian cross paths and she tries to kill him. But when she finds out that he was on a redemption trip, she decides to go with him and ensure that he is doing what he's supposed to. And she tells him that in the end she'd kill him.
Damian let's her tag along and they go on adventures together, growing closer and closer. And in the end, Maya forgives Damian.
Now, going back to the topic. Coming across Maya fics are harder because there are too few. So I don't really know how the fanon portrayes her.
I do know that most of the time she is portrayed as a supportive big sister, which is true but she is also so much more. So in this post I'll give out some facts about her and explain her character using canon panels.
****
1. Maya does not like the idea of innocents dying:
Even when she was trying to kill Damian, she interrups her plans to save the innocent people. This tells us that she indeed has a pure heart. Along with her potential to be a hero.
2. She knows how to get inside someone's skin:
During the times where they have a temporary ceasefire, Maya does not hold back from hurting Damian with her words and trying to get under his skin. This tells us that whoever her target is, she will do proper research on them and make sure to know them on a personal level. Which makes her dangerous.
She has a sharp tongue, so don't forget to apply this trait of hers on your fics!
3. Abilities?
Maya does not have any super powers. But she does have a super suit with numerous abilities. The most prominent ones being: Invisibility, sonic boom devices that are built into her hands, a device that distorts people's eyesight. She is also a very skilled fighter.
Another very important thing to note is that, her father wasn't the one who taught her how to fight:
She learned how to fight by herself, watching her dad from the shadows. Which indicates amazing strategic and martial ability. Not to mention how she tracked down Damian and manage to hold her own against him.
4. At first these two did not get along:
And by that I mean, they did not get along.
They did not fight due to the ceasefire. But the things they said to each other? Ouch.
5. Maya loves Goliath:
Before and after trying to kill Damian, Maya always loved Goliath. She even tried to take him away from Damian at one point.
Goliath also loves Maya very much, risking his life for her countless times.
6. Along with her hate for Damian, she was also jelaous of him:
One, he had a family that gave everything to him. Two; while her father never taught her anything, he took in Damian and taught him special moves and trained him. And due to this she naturally had a bit of envy of him.
7. Maya was still adament to kill Damian when they started to get along:
This didn't last that much, but in her mind it was some kind of divine justice.
8. Damian saved Maya from Deathstroke:
After Maya quit trying to become an assassin and killing Damian, Deathstroke came after her. But Damian basically pays her off and gives Slade 5 million dolars to stop trying to kill her. Surprisingly it works.
But Maya doesn't understand why he did this. She calls herself worthless and with this, we can get that she has very low self esteem and self-deprecating thoughts.
9. She is more laxed, compared to Damian:
As you can see, she does not shy away from resting unlike other assassins who do not stop until they complete their plans.
10. She has never killed anyone:
Even before or after Damian, she has 0 body count. She never killed or kills anyone in the future. This fact is the reason why Damian let Maya come with him after she tried to take him on. He knew that she wouldn't be able to do it.
11. Damian has a habit of calling her 'chica':
It's obvious that he does this to annoy her. But we can use this in the fanon as Damian annoying Maya by calling her chica
12. Damian gives Goliath to Maya:
After the redemption trip and Maya forgiving Damian, he tells her to take Golaith with him. Maya refuses and tells him that Goliath belongs to him. But Damian answers with:
Goliath ends up staying with her.
13. Damian shies away from asking Maya for help:
After the redemption arc, Maya settles in and is actually happy. Damian sees this and hesitates to ask for her help.
As you can see, this happens multiple times. Which is cute, to see Damian being shy. Maya could be the only person who makes Damian feel like that.
14. Maya gains a brother:
After forgiving Damian for killing her father, she tells him that he has gained a new sister. Which means a lot because this shows that blood isn't what matters, but love. Seeing Damian accept and love her, destroyes the 'blood son' argument.
15. Maya hates the al Ghul's:
She tells Talia that she hates all the al Ghuls, besides Damian. She also goes on to tell her that she is a horrible mother. And by that, she really goes all out.
16. She kidnaps Jon Kent:
We all know that Damian met Jon by kidnapping him. But the thing is, he wasn't alone! Maya also helped him to kidnap Jon.
****
Anyways, these were my intrepretation of Maya Ducard's character from her canon interactions. If anyone wants to add onto these, please feel free and thank you for the ask!

Hey! I just wanted to say I absolutely adore your Sonic art and how you make it, you have been such an inspiration to me! I’m currently in school right now and have to do artist research on an artist of my choice. Do you mind if I use you? Also do you have any advice for young artists who want to get to a skill level like yours and make art like yours? Thank you so much for your time! have a good day/night :)))
That's so sweet, thank you!
If you're still looking for an artist, absolutely feel free to use me, that would be so cool 😎🤙
As far as advice goes:
There's tons and tons of resources out there to advance your skills. Obviously, practicing is the main thing, but moreso than just drawing a lot, you need to focus on your goals. What are you trying to achieve? What do you like about other people's art? What do you enjoy making and what do you WANT to make? I feel like knowing those answers is half the battle, because it directs your attention towards specific topic and isn't super broad like "just keep drawing". Learn your strengths and weaknesses.
For example: if your goal is to make comic; in comics, you have to learn layouts, page flow, know how to draw buildings, background, and vehicles, etc, etc. If you can't do that stuff, start there! If that makes sense haha
Obviously, it's different for everyone. Personally, I've always found the most growth after I've tried something new or done a bunch of studies of artwork that I enjoyed. Looking at existing art and breaking it down to figure out how it was made and putting that towards your own work helps you see things differently.
Gesture drawing and observational drawing is also my personal recommendation for everyone! 😊
#thats a lot and super vague but i hope it helps haha#reach out to me if you have any other questions!

Comic Sonic Study 2
A few things of interest to note -
When I look at older comics, one thing I'm always astounded by is how efficient they can be. Bunnie got introduced and roboticized in the space of two pages, and you just don't find stuff like that these days.
I was very interested to find out when they started calling Boomer Rotor, and how that was handled. Turns out they just started calling him Rotor one day, in issue 6. Somehow, the underwhelming nature is actually kinda funny.
Issue 7 is the second time that an association has been drawn between Sally and doing magic, since she dressed up as a sorceress, and was mistaken for having actual magic power. With that in mind, I think we should go further with this:
Mahou Shoujo Sally Acorn is our new series where Sally is a magical girl fighting for the environment against evil warlock Ixis Naugus. It works, because one of the earliest Magical Girls (perhaps the first one) was Sally the Witch. I don't really know what to do with that, but there's gotta be something. We can include Merlina from Sonic and the Black Knight in there, somehow.
I was rather taken aback that Pseudo-Sonic was immediately recognized as a Sonic decoy robot, as soon as he entered Knothole. Usually these plots go on for a while, but nope. They just spotted him right away. This, however, leads to the best moment Tails has had in this book, where he dispatches Pseudo-Sonic in one panel.
Good goin', little buddy.

Dragon Ball Super Manga ch.51-54
Dragon Ball fans will read a comic like this and be like “It’s about time they let the supporting characters do something for a change!” even when “something” is getting clobbered by henchmen.”
So last time, Moro defeated everyone on New Namek and consumed the planet’s life force. Goku, Meerus, and Majin Buu narrowly escaped via Instant Transmission, while Vegeta hitched a ride on Merus’ GP ship, then hijacked it and made the pilot take him to Planet Yardrat.
Moro doesn’t particularly care what the good guys do from here, since he no longer sees them as a threat. He’s content to let them run loose in the universe until he’s ready to consume their power. In the meantime, he’s got his army of escaped space crooks, and he sends them to find worlds with plenty of ki energy for him to eat. Their first target is Zoon, the homeworld of Pui Pui and a bunch of crewmen from Babidi’s spaceship. The criminals loot the planet of its treasures, then Moro shows up to devour its energy. Then they move on to the next world.
However, this particular group of crooks is only feigning loyalty to Moro, so when they scout a planet, they just loot it and tell the others that it was a dry well. Then they get the bright idea to loot Earth, since they heard that it has a supply of “blue aurum” or “sky gold”, a precious metal used for spaceship propulsion.
Meanwhile, Goku spars with Merus because he’s curious about Merus’ powers. There’s a special training room in GP headquarters, but it’s not reinforced to handle Goku beyond Super Saiyan 3. Nonetheless, Goku is satisfied that Merus has powers and abilities that he doesn’t understand, which means Merus might be able to train him, which could help him refine his control over Ultra Instinct. Goku thinks UI could turn the tide against Moro, except he doesn’t know how to activate Ultra Instinct at will. Merus agrees, and takes Goku to a Hyperbolic Time Chamber where three days pass on the inside for every one day on the outside. The time dilation isn’t as great as the Chamber on Earth, but Merus is only interested in using it because he can cut loose in there without anyone knowing about it.
Meanwhile, Vegeta meets the Yardratti master who taught Goku Instant Transmission, a guy named Pybara. The Yardratti look different in this comic because I guess Toyotaro wasn’t sold on how they looked in the anime, but he still included the anime design, and wrote a throwaway line about how there’s multiple types of Yardratti.
Anyway, in DBZ, Goku said that they knew lots of neat techniques, but Pybara explains here that they really only deal in a single study-- Ki Control-- which can be applied in a multitude of ways: Teleportation, duplication, size changing, etc.
While Goku and Vegeta train, the Galactic Patrol struggles to deal with the unfolding crisis. They send Jaco to Earth to deputize more fighters into the Patrol. What he doesn’t know is that Piccolo has already caught the bunch who came to loot the Earth of its sky gold, and he failed to stop them from sending out a distress signal to Moro.
I think I’m up to Volume 11 of the manga. It ends with a bonus comic where Goku and Vegeta explain the plot of the Broly movie to Meerus.
Jaco briefs Dragon Team on the group of criminals Moro sent to investigate the first group’s disappearance. Moro doesn’t particularly care about the first group, but he figures if they got captured on Earth then, there must be some decent power there worth absorbing. Jaco knows the next group, but in particular, he’s concerned about an android called Seven Three. He has a copy ability that he activates by grabbing a victim by the neck. Once he does that, he can imitate the victims entire moveset for thirty minutes. They’re supposed to be ten days away by spaceship, but Seven Three last used his copy power on a planet of Sonic the Hedgehog guys, and it turns out they can make warp portals, so he arrives early.
So Seven Three manages to copy Piccolo’s powers, which forces Piccolo into a veritable stalemate. Then Gohan shows up and turns the tide, because he’s more powerful than Piccolo and he knows Piccolo’s moves so well. Seven Three tries a Hellzone Grenade on Gohan and he just slips out of is and catches Seven Three unaware.
Gohan manages to get the upper hand, but before he can finish Seven Three off, he switches powers. Turns out he can save power-sets that he copied earlier, and one of them was Moro’s. So now Gohan has to fight a guy with all of Moro’s abilities, and Moro made short work of Goku and Vegeta.
But the real Moro learns that Earth is where Goku and Vegeta came from, and that they’ll return eventually, and Moro decides he’d rather postpone the attack on Earth until then. So he orders his goons with withdraw and plans to return two months later. This is relayed to Merus, and then to Goku.
Meanwhile, Whis visits his father, the Grand Minister, and asks about Merus. Apparently he’s not what he seems, or something. I... sort of don’t care, to be honest.
This arc is really all over the place. The basic conflict is overly simplistic: Moro wants to eat all life energy in the universe and no one is powerful enough to stop him. And yet we have all these subplots going on, most of which don’t really matter in the long run. The fight on Earth was pointless, since Moro has nothing to win or lose, and then he just calls off the battle so he can do it again later. The whole thing with Majin Buu apparently went nowhere. I liked the idea of calling back to the Grand Supreme Kai, but none of it actually mattered. Now we’ve got this whole mystery surrounding Merus, but what difference does it make? He can’t beat Moro, and if he’s a double-agent, it doesn’t matter, because Moro has no need for such things.

Hi....If you don't mind, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
Oh, boy. Okay, this will take a hot minute, but thank you, I appreciate the question. None of these are in order, they're just my favourites.
1. Bungou Stray Dogs- Confession: I grew up hating manga and anime because in high school, I had friends obsessed with them, and they tried forcing me to watch them and read them, then they got angry when I had no interest. But with BSD, my younger cousin just needed someone to talk to about it, and I wasn't about to be rude, especially when he made it sound so interesting! I got Covid and had to take some time off work, so I gave it a shot- the characters were interesting, the dialogue was hilarious and the story kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I caught up with the manga, and thankfully got into the franchise in time to watch seasons 4 and 5. I'm also working on a couple BSD fanfics with my cousin, they're just taking a while lol
2. Hollow Knight- I don't take recommendations for anything, like if someone tells me "You should watch ****", or "I recommend ****", my mind goes "Well, I know what I'm avoiding for the next several years!" Hollow Knight was a little different because my best friend spoke highly of it, and said that it would definitely be my kinda game. He was absolutely right, I have well over 550 hours on it, and I'm really good at the game. Still haven't beaten the Pantheon of Hallownest, though. The art is beautiful, the music is phenomenal, and I love the challenging Boss fights.
3. Sonic the Hedgehog- while I'm absolutely aware that a lot of the games are trash, the comics can be a bit of a mess, and the shows are... actually no, the shows are pretty good and I LOVED the movies, really looking forward to the third one. I binge watched Sonic Prime yesterday and loved it. But Sonic is what got me through high school, I love the fast paced gameplay, the stories were always interesting to me, and the characters were always able to make me smile, even on the worst days. Admittedly, though, I tend to like the games that people hated most: Sonic Unleashed would be my favourite Sonic game, because I loved the fast day stages, and I loved beating the everloving life out of enemies at nighttime. I enjoyed all the stupid glitches in 06, and I actually really liked playing as Silver because I had a better grip on his controls. Because I grew up playing on my DS the most, Rush, Rush Adventure, Colours DS and Chronicles were the Sonic games I played most, and Chronicles was easily my favourite, I liked the RPG style and the larger cast of characters to use.
4. Mario and Luigi/Paper Mario- since both of these are in the same franchise, I'll stick these two together, especially since I like them for near enough the same reasons. Each new villain that the games brought out always made me grin, I have a soft spot for both Fawful and Dimentio, though I love Antasma as well. The stories were really good, like Super Paper Mario made me cry quite a bit. I loved the RPG gameplay that most of these games had, I've always been great with my timing unless it's a Boss, in which case I always screw up somehow. The music is amazing, the stories are incredible and I love the humour. For both, my favourites would be Bowser's Inside Story and Super Paper Mario.
5. The Case Study of Vanitas- okay, so while BSD is absolutely my favourite anime, it wasn't the first one my cousin got me invested in, that would go to this one. The story was fascinating to me, I loved all the characters (except Moreau, he can die painfully, please), and it inspired another fic that my cousin and I wrote together. I enjoyed the character interactions and how much each of them grew in their own ways, as well as just how they all know how to do things while trusting each other. Does that make sense? Probably not, I'm ill and I'm rambling lol
6. The Nightmare Before Christmas- I never watched this movie until I was in college, and I only knew the basic premise because of Kingdom Hearts, but when an ex-friend of mine lent me her DVD of the movie, I was in love. The story was simple, but interesting. If I'd watched it as a child, Oogie Boogie would have absolutely scared the living daylights out of me, I still have a bit of a phobia of bugs and I can't understand why when they're relatively harmless where I live. This was the only Disney movie where I had actively learned to sing ALL of the songs. I haven't watched the movie in a while, so I should get back on that. Oh, and if anyone asks "Do you watch it on Halloween or Christmas?" The answer is both: it is both a Halloween and Christmas movie, though you could also watch it on Easter if you wanted to, just use the excuse that the Easter Bunny makes a brief cameo, making it an Easter movie for a few moments.
7. Five Nights at Freddy's- this was something a lot of my high school "friends" tried forcing me to like by making me play it without giving me any context, but I ended up liking on my own by watching YouTube videos in my own time away from them. I understand that the timeline is so convoluted that even MatPat seems to be struggling to make it all fit, but I've always found the overall mystery fascinating and the character designs are really cool. Springtrap used to make me more nervous than any of the Nightmare Animatronics, although that could just be the knowledge that the Nightmares are an illusion while Springtrap had a rotten corpse inside it. Obviously I know that the newer games are a bit more broken, but I still love them. After all, without Security Breach, we wouldn't have Sunny and Moon, and I'd argue that a few people on Tumblr's lives have gotten better from their existence alone.
8. Bendy and the Ink Machine/Bendy and the Dark Revival- this is the only series of horror games I can play without having a full on panic attack, so that gives it a few points. I'll ignore whatever nonsense is going on with the books and a will remain unnamed co-creator, because I am the sort of person who will separate a creation from creator. I won't let someone ruin something I love for any reason. Anyway, I always found that the premise was interesting, I liked the artstyle and loved the characters. The voice acting, character models and the little combat we had were all excellent. I do like how Dark Revival took the story, but I admit that I haven't played that yet, because I'm hoping it'll come out on the Switch eventually, since that's what I played Ink Machine on. Oh, and I'll be honest when I say that when the pandemic first started, I read a lot of the fanfics people created on this franchise, and it was because of them that I got this Tumblr account in the first place.
9. Kingdom Hearts- this was actually the first game I ever played on a console that wasn't handheld; my older half-brother came to stay with us when I was really young and he wanted to bond with me, so we played Kingdom Hearts together. I sorta remembered the game in college and watched all the games on YouTube before buying a PS4 with my first work paycheck and then buying the Final Mix games. Again, convoluted story, but I don't care. I love the characters, all the different worlds you can explore, how different the battle system is. I never played or watched any of the Final Fantasy games, so I don't know much about their characters, but Cloud has always interested me for some reason? Anyway, I loved the bond that Sora, Donald and Goofy (in that order), have together, and being able to watch them grow as friends and as a team, saving all the Disney worlds makes me feel like a child again.
10. Spy X Family- this anime, I actually did watch on my own, purely because I saw an ad for it and thought "This looks cute, let's see if it actually is!" And yes, it was. My cousin was so happy that I watched it because he wasn't sure if I'd like something relatively soft, compared to BSD, and I unintentionally got my best friend to watch it, when I talked to him about it. Now we're all looking forward to the new movie and new season! The characters are all quirky in their own ways, the story doesn't take itself too seriously while also fitting in dramatic moments and even some emotional ones. Anya is a precious cinnamon roll and literally everyone should protect her.
TL;DR, if I had to pick a top 10 things I like, in no particular order, it's Bungou Stray Dogs, Hollow Knight, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario and Luigi/Paper Mario, The Case Study of Vanitas, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Five Nights at Freddy's, Bendy and the Ink Machine/Bendy and the Dark Revival, Kingdom Hearts, and Spy X Family.
Okay, thank you for that question and I'm so sorry if you regret asking because I have no idea how to shut up when I start lol

golden demise ⭐️💛!!!
Oof, this one is an old wip. I read all of the Sonic The Comic issues back in 2021?? And had the thought "What if Super Sonic succeeded in destroying everything??"
Golden Demise is more or less a character study on Super Sonic (Fleetway, as majority of the fandom calls him). Fleetway now inhabits a dead universe, having been successful in destroying everything. He floats in space for decades, bored, and eventually descends to madness. He used to keep a broken head of one of the Metallix to converse with but it eroded over the years, and now he's truly and utterly alone.
Apparently I had plans for Fleetway to leave his universe and enter the game universe?? Where he doesn't really have the need to destroy everything because he already did it once and doing it again means floating in space again and be bored out of his mind. Fleetway even points at Metal Sonic and says "My friend!!" asdfghjkl
#mint.txt#i really liked the idea of Fleetway and wanted to take a peak into his mind in this wip#i will likely never write it though#thanks for the ask!!!#ask game#questions.txt

What If? Vol. 2 #4
This is probably the iconic What If? cover because I’ve seen this specific picture all over the place
What If… the Alien Costume had Possessed Spider-Man?
As opposed to? Because I thought it had?
The chosen title doesn’t quite convey the idea of the issue.
In the original events, Spider-Man feels rundown because the costume has been taking him on late night excursions. He has Reed check out the costume, who realizes it’s a living alien being. The costume is separated from Spider-Man for study but escapes and rebonds with him until he uses a big church bell to force it away. Spider-Man passes out and almost gets belled to death but the symbiote saves him at the cost of its own life.
Until it was retconned to have survived and bonded with Eddie Brock to become Venom.
Comics, amirite?
In this What If? Spider-Man gets the notion to have the costume checked out sooner but Reed isn’t available. He takes it to Curt Conners who doesn’t find anything unusual about it because he’s not a good scientist.
Peter eventually does take the costume to Reed but several days later than he would have. And it’s become so bonded to Peter in those additional days (compared to the much longer time he’s been wearing it since Secret Wars) that Reed can’t sonic it off Peter.
So the What If? is What If uh all that?
I see why the issue has the title it does. It’s hard to convey in a short way.
What If… Spider-Man Wore the Alien Costume Longer?
Yeah, let’s go with that.
Reed puts Spider-Man in a giant terrarium and brings in Dr Strange but neither science or magic can pry the ooze off of him.
Then he busts out and escapes and eludes any attempt at finding him.
Black Cat (who was dating Spider-Man at this time) gets pissed at Reed for not finding him fast enough and spite robs from the rich to give to the poor.
Pretty cool of her but the comic paints it as a shameful act that foreshadows other bad decisions she’ll make.
Not cool, the narration.
Other events that would have happened originally happen so because of Nightmare, Hulk is rampaging around mindlessly and Dr Strange is going to banish him to the crossroad of dimensions.
But Symbiote-Man jumps in, ditches Peter, and possesses the mindless Hulk.
Peter is left artificially aged, drained of all vitality by the symbiote and then abandoned for a new partner.
Hm. This What If? changes the symbiote from a clingy ex to the creep who keeps getting new trophy wives as soon as one ages.
Peter manages to put together some scientific research on the symbiote before he dies of being super old now. Reed uses those notes and his own research to create a symbiote tracker and a super science gun that can kill even a Venomed Hulk.
Not that we’re calling it Venom officially but it’s easier to type.
Out of concern for Banner and the thought that the symbiote may not be actively malicious, Reed decides to use the science gun only as a last resort.
But Venom tricks and takes Thor to replace a wrung out Banner.
Venom Thor flipped a coin between looking cool and dumb and it landed on its side. My brain is baffled. I can’t decide whether I like or hate it.
He definitely shouldn’t be able to wield Mjolnir though.
Venom retreats into the tunnels underneath Mount Rushmore to finish possessing Thor.
Reed still refuses to use the super science gun since it may kill Thor and calls in the biggest sonic attack in the setting.
He gets the job done but geez. You couldn’t have lured Venom someplace else so you didn’t blow up a sacred mountain?
With the symbiote stunned and helpless, Dr Strange prepares to banish it to the crossroads dimension where it won’t be able to hurt anyone.
Which is when Black Cat swoops in to say nuh uh.
She had her own subplot where she became increasingly frustrated with the heroes and filled with vengeance-y thoughts when Peter died.
To get revenge, she vowed to serve Kingpin for the rest of her life. In exchange, Kingpin provided her with a bootleg super science gun so she could kill the ooze that killed her Spider.
Revenge is bad or whatever.
This is definitely one of those What Ifs that jams hard on the “everything is worse forever” buttons.
And it changes a lot of how Venom operates and behaves to do it, which is frustrating to me.
The symbiote bonding so securely to Peter that a sonic gun won’t peel him off isn’t reflected in most of how it’s portrayed with Eddie.
And that’s a fair comparison since Venom Hulk takes on the familiar early Venom look.
The symbiote doesn’t typically drain hosts so quickly and throw them away. It’s whole thing is wanting a long-term host.
And despite an ambiguous moment where Venom claims possessing Hulk made it aware that what it’s doing was wrong and that it just wants to live in peace, it was just an attempt to trick Thor.
It’s just evil ooze in this story. Trading up to stronger and stronger hosts and slurping out their vitality.
When it usually is portrayed as having complex, if not always healthy, emotions about various things.
And it all builds to a bitter ending where Black Cat sells her soul to the Kingpin to kill Venom when the thing was already defeated.
If this was a story ABOUT her, that’d be one thing. But while she had a couple of scenes throughout, this was somehow more of a Reed Richards story. Butting his head against a difficult problem, trying not to resort to killing, finally coming up with a solution. And then Black Cat shows up and kills the thing anyway.
I don’t much care for this one.
The point of divergence isn’t obvious and it takes too many liberties in pursuit of a forced Bad End.
