I've been trying to figure out the aesthetic of Breaker's game.

Absolutely enamored by @beebfreeb's Combo Breaker, so I immediately had to draw my fursona interacting with him (platonically ofc).

Anyway, this little kitty is Shiloh (any pronouns). Though not necessarily a Wreck-It Ralph OC, they have a pretty similar concept. They're the protagonist of an RPG that was never really finished or released, so ever since they discovered they were a character in an unfinished product, this has given them the freedom to traverse through other games!

How did they get here? I guess someone left their PocketStation at Litwak's...

combo breaker was the exact break i needed from so much stress over zine deadlines and commissions. thank you guys so much for making my first combo breaker AMAZING. getting to meet so much of the fgc and meeting my mutuals has been sooo much fun. i hope to swing by next year too!! i love you all so much!!

I've been in Chicago for the Monster Rancher 2 tournament at Combo-Breaker (I won 2nd place!) and also to visit and catch up with my sibling, @ThornHawthorne , and their cattos.

I cannot overstate how amazing the MonRan community is, it was so cool finally meeting some of them in person after years of online friendly competition. I wish we could hang out and play pvp more. The whole tourney was a blast, everyone was genuinely having such a great time!!!

I was physically struggling during top 4 bc the venue did not allow outside food or drink, so my body and especially my hands were very shaky and I was very dizzy (my sibling took me out to eat after we collected awards and gave the vendors/artists alley a brief look) and let me tell you these folks were so kind and brought me a water and gave me a little bag of Senzu Beans and even helped me get down from the stage (thank goodness bc I definitely would have beefed it off those stairs).

If you guys wanna watch top 4 finals it's on YT here! Something that makes MR so exciting to watch is the RNG element. It's a very unique experience and definitely stands out from the standard fighting games that CB usually hosts, and it's incredibly fun. I think we raised some eyebrows and turned some heads bc the audience was going nuts the whole time.

I don't think I'll be able to make it to another CB, it's just not something I can afford more than once, but I'll cherish the experience forever.

So at Combo Breaker, I had done a little bit of pre-scouting, and one of the people in the pool who I was likely to fight was a streamer, so I had watched some of his gameplay.

And I was saying to this other guy, "hey $PLAYER looks pretty strong and we're likely to fight him. He hit Tekken God recently, looks like he's real good..."

Other Guy says "oh yeah I hit Tekken God too, last week".

... flash forward to ten minutes later, I'm fighting Other Guy, and I'm wary of the potential that I'm fighting somebody who was capable of getting to a pretty high rank. My caution turns to laughter over the next minute or two, as I realize that this guy was absolutely bluffing and there's no way he's anywhere near Tekken God. His offense is super sloppy and he's completely not ready to face somebody who understands the matchup.

He tries this four-hit string where the last hit is high so I've got like plural seconds of telegraphing to slip the last hit and kill him for it and I say, pretty loud, "ABSOLUTELY NOT." He had his headphones on so I don't know if he heard me, but I meant it.

KO. ggs, accept this fist bump. I don't shake people's hands at tournaments, that is kind of gross.

... if he hadn't bluffed like that, I don't think I would remember that match from last month so vividly.

I went to Combo Breaker yesterday and today and had a blast! The FGC is so chill and welcoming. I had a great time scoping out the artist alleys and vendors, watching friendlies and getting to see the two Skullgirls events, the Combo Breaker tournament and the Skullgirls championship series finals! Sonicfox won both - no surprise, they're the GOAT of fighting games - but the audience cheered really hard for Mix Masters creator dekillsage, whose videos got me into SG in the first place. I also got to talk to Triv, my favorite SG player, and show him some of my art! That was so cool 🤩

I'm definitely in the recording of the SCSF, but as I'm wearing a black hat, a black mask and a black shirt, and I'm sitting diagonally behind Munoz, I'm a little hard to see XD

Overall it was super fun. I'd definitely go again!

PS - Orcane is definitely coming back for Rivals 2, and Brain Drain is coming to SG Mobile, which might mean he'll make it over to the main game!
