as a dude who listened and loved techno and psychadelic trance way before i even heard of columbine, i have this undeniable feeling of getting pissed because eric and dylan used to listen to that and that became a staple for ppl to hop on to it. i'm not one to gatekeep but man gtfo. these bands are awesome until it gets ruined and reduced to "music school shooters lisetened to". pay some damn respect for these bands that actually make good music and appreciate them for what they are.

Why is there no "kill all rapists" community online? If I try to find people idolizing people who killed their rapists (Cyntoia brown is my favorite person ever please look her up) I can't but you can find hours of content of people idolizing the columbine shooters and Ted bundy. Why? One killed a rapist *all of them deserve to die and if you don't agree gtfo* and the others killed because they hated minorities. Why are the "I hate women so I'm gonna kill 12 people" ones more idolized than the self defense ones? Shut up!

...TL;DR - 18-year-old obsessed with the Columbine shootings is making credible threats against schools and attempting to buy firearms, somewhere in my son’s school district.  The weeklong sleepaway camp has been cancelled, 6th graders are going home. (Lynn was already home, he’d left sick last night.)

Anyway. I AM FUCKING FURIOUS.

I don’t have eloquent words right now. I just have rage. KILLING KIDS IS NOT AWESOME. Four days from now will be the 20th anniversary of the Columbine shootings and we STILL have school shootings? We have copycat crimes? Fuck that shit.

A not insignificant part of me wants to throw a toddler-style tantrum and wail about how “I hate mass shootings!!” but that wouldn’t accomplish anything.

Time to regroup and start Lynn’s evening routine, complete with extra hugs and reassurance.

I associate the first Mumford & Sons album and Alice Cooper with him solely because that's the most fitting to him stuff on my old playlist for him.

That said, I think likely rock, acid rock, and folk stuff. Janis Joplin, Alice Cooper, Donovan. ...OK so basically get in a car, find the Classic Rock station on the radio, there. He's a basic bitch.

Probably high up there is the first night he lived on his own, away from Anne (now deceased), and realized he didn't have to be a bundle of nerves, waiting for something to go to shit.

What was school like for Tiefer and Anne?

Anne dropped out (for obvious reasons.) She honestly was probably rather good at it -- or would have been if she wasn't constantly bored by it and skipping class.

Tiefer was not great at school, though ironically he winds up in school the longest with a master's. He picked fights. He didn't care -- didn't see a lot of a reason to care when young. Started straightening out a bit, but still hard to care much. Serving in church helped straighten him out more by giving him something to a) occupy his time and hands and mind that b) he was good at (and genuinely praised for) and c) put him on a potential career track that wasn't like 'fisherman' or 'shitty job in a shitty town' or 'hooker' or 'you need to be super smart to GTFO from here'.

Anyway for both probably very a 1 or 2 room schoolhouse type situation.

Did Agnes want more children? Did Nathan?

Yes and ehhhhh, open to it. Getting two was like pulling teeth so even if Nathan was around they wouldn't have tried for a third,

Oh yeah.

He definitely felt it when he first returned and was the priest with an aging Fr. Michaud -- the unspoken part of his job being 'help care for him'. For Tiefer that was definitely a chance to repay a debt of sorts -- Michaud helped him GTFO and get into seminary. And it did good. And it felt good to be able to more or less pay back something that changed his life.

I'd say also the hard moments nobody likes -- the sicknesses, the deaths -- it's thankless and he's often the convenient intermediary between family and the death industry, if even used at all (else it's OK here's a wake, here's a box, let's dig a grave on the church grounds and well who do you think has a hand in that?) -- that makes him feel he's helping because people don't like those moments, can barely stomach them, but it comes fairly easy to him.

Instead of, "Do you know what a VHS is?" we should be asking, "Do you know what an insane jump it's been from VHS to digital media in 4k, and how that reflects our rapidly changing lifestyles and differing experiences?" I mean, we went from VHS to DVD in 20 yrs and DVD to Blu Ray in 4 yrs. I'm older than mp3s and midis. SO is older than CDs. My mom is older than 8-tracks. My dad is older than cassettes. That's a lot of progress in a short period of time. I'm not so much older than "kids these days," but the world I grew up in was different. Technology is an obvious barometer for that.

But if I say I'm from the land of VHS tapes, what I mean is that the world I lived in, and therefore my experiences and viewpoints, are different. SEJ says 1/3 of Tumblr users are young enough that you haven't lived in a world without DVDs. That means you also weren't around when rape kits were new, the first antiretroviral came on the market, the USSR fell apart, the internet came online or Hubble was launched. You were very young when Columbine happened and not much older on 9-11. We're not going to see things the same way.

Some ppl are just being patronizing dicks. And those ppl can gtfo. But there is a difference between reading about DADT and watching the world change when it was signed. That's not good or bad, but it's not insignificant. And if you can't accept that, then you kids can just get off my lawn.

Dude why the fuck everybody so but hurt about the national walk out?? I have seen so many people post about how stupid these “kids” are for performing a useless and poorly thought out protest. Man who the fuck are you to judge? Those people are standing up for the horrific violence they have seen first hand and/or preventing more horrific violence. I understand that there is a bullying trend underlying part of this issue, but it doesn’t excuse the fact having an accessible market for assault rifles should not be real. Why does anybody NEED an assault rifle? Why? What are you planning on using that for? GTFO of here you shitty fucking people. Also the people who advocate for the “don’t bully other children” idea are missing the fact that Newtown, Las Vegas, Orlando, Aurora, etc. were not student on student bullying, it was a case of unstable people who had too much free access to devastatingly gruesome weapons. It makes me angry to think that another Sandy Hook or Parkland or Columbine could happen because some booty hurt ADULTS don’t want to give up, much less advocate for, control for assault weapons. 

NOW ANOTHER POINT ABOUT IDAHO BEING SHITTY

This comes from Preston Junior High School down in southern Idaho where a licensed teacher had been performing acts of animal cruelty IN FRONT OF STUDENTS for fucking years. He was offering extra credit for the students that showed up after school hours to watch him feed his exotic animals USING puppies, kittens, bunnies, etc. HE ACTUALLY ENCOURAGED THE STUDENT TO BRING IN THESE ANIMALS. HE, ENCOURAGED. ENCOURAGED. One of the sickest things about this is that the school and community was firstly supporting him and saying he was a “cool” teacher. This disgusts me so much that people can be so heartless to another creature. (That is probably hypocritical coming from a non-vegan). Those animals were babies, defenseless creatures that relied on human companionship for survival. It is stated that the puppy was dying but it begs the question on why he wouldn’t just bring it the humane society to be HUMANELY put down instead of having it suffer even more. Fuck man I hope he fucking gets what he deserves.
