Good news, I don’t think I’m sick! Bad news, I have a colposcopy tomorrow morning RIP my 🐱 if you’ve never had one they are very unpleasant, far worse than a normal Pap smear. Do I get anything for it though? Of course not! This is America where women’s reproductive health is a fucking joke! I get told to take some ibuprofen which I can’t take because of my kidneys and to just suck it up. Booo it’s also first thing in the morning so double boo! Triple boo I have to get blood work too! Send me good juju or thirsty Bi-Han/Syzoth/Bireena asks or self ship asks are always a great distraction! Basically keep me occupied please 🥺

Understanding Colposcopy After an Abnormal Pap Smear
If you get an abnormal Pap smear result, you’re likely wondering what’s next. Colposcopy is a simple, quick procedure that allows us to investigate the health of your cervix. In the colposcopy, Dr. Hayes will rub three different solutions onto the cervix and then will use a special microscope to view it closely. If any abnormal areas are seen, a small 'brief pinch' sample may be taken. The whole thing usually takes 2-3 minutes. After doing the procedure you may see a tiny bit of medicine in the morning that looks like coffee grounds, but don’t worry – this is normal. If treatment is necessary, you will get your results in a week so you can monitor or treat accordingly. Keep in mind that colposcopy not only checks for irregular cells but helps to screen out cervical cancer as well. If you have an concern consult with your healthcare provider.

Both my parents have Covid which means I was probably exposed to it too, great. *sigh* Just what I needed after a disastrous morning at the hospital. I got a newbie for my blood draw and my arm is a black and blue pincushion, thankfully his supervisor only let him try twice but he still went in the back of my hand which is by far the most painful spot there is for shitty lab work. I almost blacked out twice from him digging around for the vein. After that I had my colposcopy which is basically a biopsy of the cervix, plus side my abnormal Pap smear doesn’t look cancerous at all, down side it hurt and I’m very crampy. I was supposed to go out tonight but after finding out I was potentially exposed to Covid I canceled, so far I’m feeling ok but my partner isn’t so we’re probably fucked. At least I got a good nap in after my appointments, so there’s that?

It’s over.
It’s finally over.
I’m free.
Had my final appointment at the cancer clinic today. It was a pelvic exam and colposcopy to make sure that I was all healed up inside after the hysterectomy and that there were no traces of any abnormalities. I’d been anxious about the appointment for WEEKS.
It wasn’t my surgeon who saw me, it was one of her associates, but she was so kind and understanding and empathetic that I felt good about it going into the procedure. The procedure itself was super un-fun given how one of the symptoms of menopause is vaginal dryness/atrophy. All the lube in the world didn’t make that speculum go in any easier and it hurt like hell, but once it was in place it was fine.
After a thorough look and feel and a LOT of anxiety on my part, the doctor pronounced me fully healed and fit to return to all activities. She said that there is no need for them to see me again, that this is it, but that if I have any concerns come up or any questions in the future or issues related to any pelvic health, to give them a call back and they’d take me back on without question.
That said, though, I never need another pelvic exam. I never need another pap test. I never need to deal with all of the menstrual bullshit again. I can bid cancer goodbye and good riddance.
It’s actually, finally over.

thank you so much to everyone who has donated and shared so far!
i’ve unfortunately missed some work recently due to ongoing health issues (we don’t yet know the cause) and i do not receive sick pay, so money is even more tight than usual, which means that i’ve been unable to put money aside these last few paychecks to save for these upcoming expenses.
i would be so grateful if you’re able to donate to my gfm or reblog my post to help me reach my goal. asking for this help is not easy and i do not at all take it lightly the amount of help and support i have already received. again, thank you so much. i love y’all ♥️
howdy, y’all
i am scheduled for top surgery in just a few short months! i’ve wanted this surgery since i was 14, and i’m beyond stoked that it’s really truly finally happening
although i have a little in savings, i live paycheck to paycheck, and i need your help to keep the lights on while i’m recovering
click here to view my gofundme campaign! even a $5 or $10 gift goes a long way towards offsetting the costs of surgery not covered by my insurance provider and carrying me through recovery while i am unable to work
if you’re unable to donate right now, please share this post to your dashboard, with your personal trainer, on your nearest bathroom stall wall, or with that one 3 person group chat with the really specific name. you know the one i’m talking about
sincerely, thank you so much for taking the time to read and share and donate. this online space has been beyond important to me through transition, and i wouldn’t be the person i am today without you and your shitposts and meta and edits and fanart and fic and friendship
i love u guys :o)
#didn’t want to put this in the body of the post but#i’ve been dealing with increasingly debilitating pelvic pain#so i got a referral to a gyn#i’ve dealt with on again off again pelvic pain over the years that was attributed to large and rupturing chronic ovarian cysts#ibuprofen and rest yknow#but i’ve been out of commission so much lately and it’s been getting bad#my ultrasound came back normal so no cysts#but my pap smear came back abnormal and indicative of HSIL#which is precancerous cellular changes in the cervix#it could totally be a false positive and this pain might be something else entirely#and i will know more after a colonoscopy and biopsy in a few days#but this is pretty stressful to be happening while i am trying to prepare for top surgery#instead of busting my ass picking up shifts and finding creative ways to make money#i am laid up in bed in pain trying not to freak out too much about wtf is going on with my internal organs#wish they’d just do a hysto when they do my top surgery lol. get this damn thing out of me#[pointing and yelling at my uterus and cervix and ovaries] nothing but problems from the lot of you!!!#colposcopy btw not a colonoscopy. i don’t need that rn i hope lol
