I am having such bad cramps and I wouldn't mind as much except that this is my 5th period in 2 months. last time this happened the doctor put it down to hormone disruption caused by the implant but I thought that had cleared up cause I got like 8 months of normal periods. but now we are back. to biweekly periods.
and this is annoying bc I SUSPECT that means I really should actually go see a doctor again. and tbh probably actually either go on the pill or give up on the implant and have it removed. it does also worry me bc I should have booked a smear in the last 8 months and off-schedule bleeding CAN be a symptom of cervical and uterine cancers BUT I had a colposcopy last year that was clear AND this isn't the first time this has happened BUT if I do die before the age of 85 it will absolutely be because I kept putting off seeing a doctor.

Most common surgeries done by gynecologist surgeon
Gynecology surgery comprises any surgical procedure that involves the organs and structure of the female pelvic region: the ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix, vulva, and vagina. There are several reasons why a woman might need to go through gynecology surgery. She might need treatment for a condition such as fibroids (benign tumors), endometriosis, cancer, ovarian cysts, pelvic inflammatory disease, chronic pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding or uterine prolapse. Gynecology surgery can also be used as permanent birth control.
The most common surgeries done by gynecologist surgeon are as follows:
Cervical Cryosurgery
Abnormal cervical cells are at times discovered during a routine Pap smear. Abnormal cells do not always indicate cancer, but your healthcare provider will likely want to do some follow-up tests or procedures. One procedure they might recommend is cervical cryosurgery. This procedure is a highly effective gynecological treatment that freezes a section of the cervix. Cryosurgery destroys these cells to stop them from developing into cancer.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a process that your healthcare provider may use to diagnose or treat uterine issues. This procedure might be used to:
Locate an intrauterine device
Remove adhesions (scar tissue)
Determine the cause of repeated miscarriage
During this procedure, a healthcare professional inserts a hysteroscope, a lighted, thin, telescope-like instrument, into your uterus through the vagina. Then, it sends pictures of your uterus to a screen for further test.
Pelvic Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure usually performed under general anesthesia. But it can be performed with other types of anesthesia while you are awake. It is used for:
Gallbladder removal
Tubal ligation (tying the fallopian tubes for permanent birth control)
Treating endometriosis and uterine fibroids
Hernia repair
The typical pelvic laparoscopy involves a small incision in the belly button or lower abdomen. A surgeon then pumps carbon dioxide into your abdomen to help them see your organs easily.
Dilation and Curettage
It is one of the most common gynecological procedures. During this process, a healthcare provider removes a portion of your uterine lining with a suction device or a sharp curette. The procedure can diagnose uterine conditions, including:
Uterine cancer
Endometrial hyperplasia (an abnormally thick uterine lining)
Uterine polyps (overgrowth of tissue in the uterine lining)
In addition, D&Cs are commonly used for miscarriage, abortion procedures, molar pregnancy, and retained placenta.
Common gynecological procedures by gynecologist surgeon include colposcopy, cervical cryosurgery, D&C, LEEP, hysteroscopy, and pelvic laparoscopy. Most of these procedures can help healthcare providers get a better look at the cervix, uterus, and vagina and take samples for a biopsy. Some of them can also treat specific conditions.
Understandably, you might have concerns about any process your healthcare provider or gynecologist recommends. Learning as much as you can is a good idea. In addition, it is essential to ask your doctor any questions you might have. Finally, do not forget to tell them if you may be pregnant, even though they usually do a test to check first.

1. Pelvic Examination: Pelvic examination is the process performed to collect information about the pelvic area, which includes vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes; it is done to look for signs of diseases or infections. Gynaecologists commonly perform this test to detect sexually transmitted infections (STI’s), yeast infections, and bacterial vaginosis. It includes visual external examination, manual examination, speculum exam, pap test and rectal exam.
2. Blood Tests: Women can undergo various blood tests that provide valuable insights into their health. These tests measure specific hormones in a woman's body associated with pregnancy, such as human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG).  Blood tests can identify the pregnancy and measure hormone levels (FSH, LH, oestrogen, progesterone, TSH, prolactin), providing valuable information about a woman's overall reproductive health and well-being. These tests can also diagnose specific types of sexually transmitted diseases (chlamydia, HIV, herpes, gonorrhoea, syphilis), often combined with urine tests to confirm, which can be critical in identifying and treating these infections.
3. Urine Examinations: A urinalysis is the most common diagnostic test conducted to examine the urine to detect and measure various compounds through physical, chemical, and microscopic tests and to assess many different aspects of health with a urine sample. It is performed to check protein and sugars.it is performed to confirm kidney problems, diabetes and preeclampsia, urinary tract infections and liver problems.
4. Pelvic Laparoscopy: Pelvic laparoscopy a minor invasive procedure is performed to examine and treat the abnormalities of the uterus, ovaries, cervix, and fallopian tubes in the pelvic area. Conditions treated include endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, pelvic inflammatory disease and cancers. It includes inserting the instrument into the abdomen by making small incisions. That instrument is called a laparoscope, which contains a thin device with an attached camera and light to visualize the organs.
5. Pelvic Ultrasound: A pelvic ultrasound is a diagnostic test that utilizes sound waves to make images of the organs inside the pelvis that are used to examine the organs and structures within the pelvis, such as the uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, vagina and ovaries of the female. It allows the visuals of the pelvic organs. Ultrasound uses a transducer which places on the pelvic skin using the conductive gel.
6. Transvaginal Ultrasound: An ultrasound test identifies abnormalities using high-frequency sound waves to create (provide) pictures of internal organs. A transvaginal ultrasound, or endovaginal ultrasound, is used to examine the pelvis organs such as the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix and vagina.
It differs from a regular pelvic ultrasound where it involves the insertion of an ultrasound probe that measures approximately 2–3 inches into the vaginal canal. With this probe, the internal organs can be examined in detail, allowing healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
7. Pap Test: It is also called a pap smear test, a screening procedure to assess cervical cancer. It identifies the presence of precancerous or cancerous cells. It can determine the changes in the cells on the opening of the uterus, called the cervix. This test is usually performed by inserting a metal or plastic tool named a speculum into the vagina to open and widen the vagina walls. Gynaecologist uses a swab to take cell samples from the cervix and send it for laboratory evaluation.
8. Human papillomavirus (HPV) Test: The procedures involved in HPV and PAP tests share some similarities. HPV, capable of causing alterations in cervical cells, can be detected through an HPV test. This test can be conducted solely or in combination with a pap test in an approach known as co-testing.
10. Hysteroscopy: Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to inspect the inside of the uterus (womb). This procedure involves using a hysteroscope, a thin instrument with a camera and light located at the end. It can be passed into the patient's uterus through the vagina and cervix. The camera can send images (inside the uterus) to the monitor, which is observed by the gynaecologist.

Minimally Invasive Gynecological Procedures: Advancements in Women's Health
Tumblr media
Women’s health has come a long way in recent years, and minimally invasive gynecological procedures are at the forefront of this progress. These treatments offer women greater comfort and convenience with fewer risks than ever before. From hysterectomies to endometrial ablation, here is an overview of how minimally invasive gynecology is revolutionizing women’s healthcare today.
Also Read: Laparoscopic Surgery in Indore
Hysterectomy used to be one of the most common forms of surgery for treating various gynecologic conditions such as fibroids or cancerous tumors in the uterus or ovaries; however, it was often accompanied by lengthy recovery times and considerable pain afterward due to its invasiveness. Nowadays, laparoscopic hysterectomy offers a much less painful alternative that requires only small incisions instead of large ones for traditional open surgeries. This procedure can also be done robotically using robotic-assisted technology which further reduces risk while providing more precise results than manual laparoscopy alone could achieve - making it an ideal choice for many patients who need treatment quickly but don't want major complications afterward!
Endometrial ablation is another example where modern techniques have made big strides forward compared with older methods: once requiring extensive tissue removal from inside the uterus during open surgery (which could cause significant bleeding), nowadays this procedure can usually be performed through tiny incisions using either laser energy or radio frequency waves - both resulting in far less trauma overall! In addition, these newer technologies allow doctors like any Gynecologist In Indore to target specific areas without damaging surrounding tissues as well as giving better control over outcomes since they're so precise when directed at particular spots within uterine walls themselves – all leading up towards faster healing times too!
Finally, there's colposcopy – yet another form where advances have been made thanks largely due to improved imaging capabilities now available via digital cameras/scopes inserted into vaginal cavities (instead of just relying on a doctor's eyesight). This allows specialists like any Gynecologist In Indore not only to see what's going on deep down but also to take biopsies if necessary while avoiding unnecessary discomfort caused by traditional instruments used in earlier days; plus because images are captured electronically there'll always remain records should follow-ups become needed later down the line after initial diagnosis/treatment plan has taken place already. All great benefits indeed when dealing with potentially serious medical issues affecting female reproductive systems everywhere around the world today!

Do gynecologists perform surgeries related to women's health?
Yes, gynecologists do perform surgeries related to women's health. Gynecological surgeries are a significant aspect of the specialty and are conducted to address a variety of reproductive and pelvic health issues. Some common types of gynecological surgeries include:
Tumblr media
1. Hysterectomy: This surgery involves the removal of the uterus and sometimes the cervix. It can be performed for various reasons, such as fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, and certain gynecological cancers.
2. Myomectomy: Myomectomy is a surgical procedure to remove uterine fibroids while preserving the uterus. It is often performed for women who wish to retain their fertility.
3. Oophorectomy:This surgery involves the removal of one or both ovaries. It may be done to treat ovarian cysts, endometriosis, or certain ovarian cancers.
4. Salpingectomy: Salpingectomy is the removal of one or both fallopian tubes. It can be done for various reasons, including ectopic pregnancies, prevention of ovarian cancer, and sterilization.
5. Ovarian Cyst Removal: Surgical removal of ovarian cysts may be necessary if they are large, causing pain, or suspected to be cancerous.
6. Endometrial Ablation:This procedure involves the removal or destruction of the uterine lining and is used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding.
7. Laparoscopic Surgery:Minimally invasive procedures, such as laparoscopy, are used to diagnose and treat conditions like endometriosis, pelvic pain, and infertility. Small incisions are made, and a camera-guided instrument is used for visualization and surgery.
8. Colposcopy: While not a major surgery, colposcopy involves examining the cervix, vagina, and vulva for abnormal cells. If necessary, a biopsy can be taken during this procedure.
9. Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery:This type of surgery addresses prolapse of pelvic organs, such as the bladder, uterus, or rectum, which can occur due to weakened pelvic floor muscles.
10. Cervical Cone Biopsy: A cone-shaped piece of tissue is removed from the cervix for diagnosis or treatment of cervical dysplasia or cancer.
11. Laparotomy: This is a larger incisional surgery used for more complex cases, such as large fibroids, advanced endometriosis, or ovarian tumors.
12. Robotic-Assisted Surgery: Some gynecological surgeries are performed using robotic-assisted technology, allowing for enhanced precision and control during the procedure.
These are just a few examples of gynecological surgeries. The specific surgery recommended will depend on the patient's condition, medical history, and treatment goals. It's important to discuss all available options and their potential benefits and risks with a qualified gynecologist before making any decisions about surgery.
