The Encamped Ones and the Elect Ones 101
In organic cotton of white and also colorgrown green and red
The encamped are donned.
Both separated and brought together they are.
Black aprons top off their outfits and they
Live out the rest of their lives
in beauty, productivity and peace.
With good behavior and showmanship of wellness,
the reward to consummate with a love
from the opposite gender quarters to make and grow a child
in this dystopian paradise.

Have you seen colorgrown cotton?! It's NOT DYED! The certified organic cotton plants are intentionally grown (right here in NC) in such a way that they produce different colored cotton fibers! This is a knit-thermal-color grown organic cotton fabric contour diaper. Shown with pins on one photo and add-on ties in the other. 😍 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQpCGfoH6ZB/?utm_medium=tumblr

This is a close-up of the twill, but the actual twill pattern is created on the underside of the fabric.  The organic cotton (blue) yarn and colorgrown cottons (natural and brown) are incredibly soft.  What often happens with the colorgrown cottons is that as the fabric is washed and worn over the years, the color deepens and gets more vibrant, creating a reverse wabi sabi effect.  As the blue yarn, which is dyed, will fade over time, the brown and natural yarns, which are undyed, will be brighter and stronger, creating a gradual change in the appearance of the fabric.  Dynamic morphing textiles can be achieved with minimal technology and a lot of farming knowhow.

Though the new Etherial Scarves that I posted have found a new home, I’m looking forward to making more as this ridiculous year comes to an end. This luxurious scarf was loosely woven with a warp of organic cotton-linen and a weft of naturally dyed raw silk and hand-spun colorgrown cotton . The natural dyes used for this piece were black walnuts, madder, cochineal, marigolds, sandalwood and blanket flower.

I’m so excited to finally share these shots taken earlier in the summer of me wielding this gorgeous hand forged sword by #forgedinfire champ @ashe.and.hammer 🌲 Being in the forest with beautifully creative friends is the best! 🌲 My top was handwoven with organic cotton-linen, hand-spun colorgrown cotton and Italian linen blend. It is available or sale and will be on display @desertarchaic gallery. Please PM if you are interested.

Looking for a project to knit in our Willet colorgrown cotton heathers? We love the Southern Riviera tank from the latest Amirisu, issue 13. Designed by Josée Paquin and shown here in Squall, we think it would be equally lovely in any of our four colorgrown shades -- those leaf lace details would look especially beautiful in new color Lentil. Head straight to Willet through our profile link, and while you're there, grab a copy of Amirisu issue 13 for the pattern - also in stock at Quince! Grown in USA #madeinusa #plasticfree #zerowaste 100% #organic cotton #blanket by Rawganique since 1997 - super soft and cozy chenille weave in an unbleached and undyed colorgrown brown. Did you know that cotton was originally green or brown? Years of selective breeding resulted in the natural color we associate with cotton today. 🤓😌#Rawganique #organiccotton #madeinamerica #madeinusa🇺🇸 #americanmade #blankets #organicblanket #organicbedding #cozy #pure #ecofriendly #sustainable #earthfriendly #vegan #woolfree #animalfriendly #crueltyfree #sweatshopfree (at Point Roberts, Washington)

The grey and brown weft yarn that you see is hand-spun and hand-dyed here in the U.S. by a small business owner. Pieces of jasper stone are attached to the yarn, creating a whole new form of luxury.  The brown and cream warp (straight of grain) fibers are colorgrown cottons also sourced from the U.S.; there is no dye used to create the brown shade, that's actually the color of the cotton fiber itself.  Like many people within the sustainable design community, I would like to push for positive changes in the way we source and produce the goods we use, participating in ways to make fashion more environmentally-conscious and socially responsible in its practices.
