underrated marauders era characters hcs <3
Emmeline Vance
ravenclaw
has long black hair and dark brown eyes
would do anything for her friends. literally anything.
half-blood
knew everything about everyone. if she wanted to know she did. no one knew how she did it
her best friends were pandora and marlene
blames herself for surviving the first war when marlene didn’t
^ the guilt only increased when pandora died
visits their graves on the 16th of every month and their birthdays and just talks
took divination (with pandora) and care of magical creatures as her electives
was a bridesmaid for both of their weddings (they were each other’s maid of honors)
loved apple pie and strawberries
she loved the color yellow
Edgar Bones
gryffindor
had red hair and gray eyes
his middle name was antonio after his late grandfather
half-blood
his wife tried hard to convince him not to join the Order but he was very persistent
same year as emmeline (1969 - 1976)
was almost put into hufflepuff
very stubborn
had a younger brother (two years younger) and an older sister (Amelia) who was one year older
almost joined the Quidditch team but decided against it at the last second
wears a lot of crimson
his wedding band is gold and he still grins at it every time he sees it on his finger
james thought him and frank were so cool when he was in first year and marlene found it hysterical (because they’re both complete idiots but so is james soooo)
his patronus is a lion
grinned like an idiot when he found out helen (his wife’s) patronus was a lioness
Helen Bones (née Burton)
hufflepuff
curly dirty blonde hair and green-light gray eyes
muggleborn
friends with basically everyone. loved by essentially the entire school
best friends with hestia jones
prefect
really good at playing the piano
fluent in german (her mum’s german) and understands french but can’t speak it fluently
she knows so much shit from all of the Black brother arguments that were in public spoken in french. emmeline tried to get her to say what they were arguing over but she wouldn’t budge.
sirius first went to her when he started having feelings for remus because she knew she wouldn’t judge him even if she was muggle born (i hc that the wizarding world is a lot more inclusive than the muggle world is but still doesn’t fully accept queer people. the pure bloods are the least acceptive)
good at transfiguration
knows a lot about everyone (similar to emmeline) but she refuses to gossip over it or tell anyone.
started dating edgar in her fourth year.
they were THE couple of their year. like there was dorlene and fralice but they were it. all of the younger students wanted to be one of them
mum friend of the hufflepuffs
Florence Wotton (girlfriend of the boy who hexed Bertha Jorkins after seeing them kissing behind the greenhouses)
hufflepuff
brunette that wears her hair in a ponytail and dark blue eyes
half-blood
she broke up with Stanley (the boy she was caught kissing) in the end of sixth year on good terms
they were friends up until stanley’s death during the second wizarding war
never married or had children
her middle name was augustine
she was best friends with jude williams, a muggle born slytherin, while at hogwarts
florence had to learn multiple defensive spells due to how many times jude was attacked by her own housemates
got the nickname flo by her friends when she made a joke about “going with the flow”
her best subject was potions
Ted Tonks
hufflepuff
had blonde hair and bright green eyes
the younger years loved him
prefect
had so many friendship bracelets, like they literally lined his arm. he refused to ever not wear one of them because “what if the person who gave it to me gets sad”
met andromeda in first year and fell for her hard in third. they started dating in fifth
his hogwarts years were from 1964 - 1971
he had two younger sisters, named ellen and isobel (yes this is based off a fanfic, go read Flights of Fancy)
many jumpers and sweaters. he has a vast collection of ugly christmas sweaters
quidditch commentator
liked by everyone except the pure bloods (what else is new)
andromeda slept in the hufflepuff common room for a lot of her later years at hogwarts. a lot of hufflepuffs grew to like her a lot and she started sleeping in the dormitory with the girls in her year occasionally
the hufflepuffs that knew about her and ted had this whole big oath thing where they swore they would keep their relationship secret
a lot of people actually knew about their relationship. it wasn’t really secret at all, the people that knew just weren’t anyone a pure blood would ever hang out with
good at herbology and transfiguration

Lyrics of “La Guerra di Piero”, the Italian “Blowin’ in the Wind” ( + Translation )
If you watch Italian TV, in these days you might have heard “La Guerra di Piero” (literally “Piero’s war”) by Fabrizio De Andrè, a song which is considered some sort of Italian “Blowin’ in the wind” for its pacifist themes.
The song was published in 1964 and became successful only 5 years later, in conjunction with the 1968 Protest Movement. It was inspired by the story of Francesco (Fabrizio De Andrè’s uncle), who was a concentration camp’s survivor.
The song is about Piero, a soldier at the front that, when finding himself facing the enemy, hesitates to shoot because he sees himself in the other soldier. The song underlines the fact that, most of the times, soldiers don’t kill each other due to hate or cruelty, but only in order to survive. They don’t want the war, they are sent to war.
Lyrics
Ninetta mia crepare di maggio ci vuole tanto troppo coraggio, Ninetta bella dritto all’inferno, avrei preferito andarci in inverno
E mentre il grano ti stava a sentire dentro alle mani stringevi un fucile, dentro alla bocca stringevi parole, troppo gelate per sciogliersi al sole.
Translation
Sleep, buried in a wheat field, it’s not the rose, nor the tulip, that keeps watching you from the ditches, but it’s a thousand red poppies
“along the riverbanks I want to see the silver pikes, not the soldier’s s corpses carried by the current”
You used to say so, and it was winter and, as the others, sad you go toward the hell like someone who must. The wind spits the snow in your face.
Stop Piero, stop now, allow the wind to sweep you off, let it carry the voice of those who died in the battle. Those who gave life, had a cross in return.
But you didn’t hear it and time went on with the seasons at a Java’s beat and you crossed the border in a beautiful spring day
While you’re marching with a heavy heart you saw a man at the valley’s end, who had your same mood, but the uniform of another colour.
Shoot him Piero, shoot him now and after a gunshot, shoot him again until you can see him falling down to cover his own blood
And if I shoot him in the forehead or in the heart, he’ll only have time to die, but I will have time to see, to see the eyes of a dying man
And while you do him this favour, he turns, he sees you, he’s scared, he takes the gun and he doen’t return the courtesy
You fell down without a complain and you suddenly realized you didn’t have enough time to ask forgiveness for all of your sins
You fell down without a complain and you suddenly realized that your life was about to end that day and there was no coming back
Little Nina, it takes so much courage to die in May, little Nina, I’m heading to hell, I would have preferred to go there in winter.
And while the wheat was listening to you, you held a rifle in your hands. In your mouth you held words, too icy to melt in the sun.

I collect National Geographics and one of my oldest ones -- from April 1964 -- has a delightful article on cats: “The Cats in Our Lives” by Adolph Suehsdorf, photographs by Walter Chandoha
the entire article is a gem, but I thought the section on breeds would be especially interesting to @pangur-and-grim or really anyone that wants to see how cat breeds have changed over the past 57 years.
below are the photos of the breeds and their variants, and the accompanying descriptions. this is very long but I’m not putting it under a cut because I am malicious lol
------------------------
Domestic Shorthair
interestingly, the author says that nearly all cats are this specific breed.
A free roamer and free breeder, it developed coats of many colors and patterns, such as the calico... Show standards of the Cat Fanciers’ Association recognize 20.
here are a couple examples of those variants, although they don’t appear to meet the standards listed with them:
Odd-eyed White must have one blue eye and one copper or deep orange eye. Her coat should be short, thick, even in texture, and pure white.
Tortoiseshell standard calls for a coat of black, orange, and cream. Nose should be half black, half orange; the eyes, copper. Males are extremely rare and usually sterile.
maine coons are included in this section -- despite the acknowledgement that they don’t have short hair.
Maine coon cat -- a variant Domestic and not a recognized breed -- exhibits long hair and long neck. Early (colonialist) Americans erroneously considered her a cross between cat and raccoon; experts now believe that she descended from wild tabbies with long-hair genes.
Persian
Pedigreed, pure-blooded, exotic breeds are catdom’s elite. Valued by exhibitors, or “the fancy,” no cat looks fancier than the Persian. Long glossy hair in 20 recognized colors, each color with a specific eye hue, gives the Persian a look of haughty languor. The standard for Persians calls for a chunky build, low on legs, deep in chest, massive across shoulders and rump.
unfortunately, between the crease and the glare, it was really hard to get a good photo of this striking image:
Here Voo Doo, the Black Persian grand champion owned by cat judge Richard Gebhardt exhibits the qualities demanded for the head... Voo Doo’s expression here belies his gentle disposition. Unlike most males, the seven-year-old cat is devoted to his kittens and takes an active hand in helping their mothers raise them.
Chinchilla Persians achieve an aristocratic look with pure-white coats so subtly tipped in black as to seem silver. Black rims accent blue-green eyes, lips, and nose, whose center is brick red. Tail should be “carried without a curve,” says the standard. “But,” counters the author, “the man doesn’t live who can tell a cat how her tail should behave.”
Blue Cream Persian and her Cream kit arrive for a show in a carrying case.
Siamese
Lithe and sinuous body in two-tone color, wedge-shaped head, and bright blue eyes distinguish the Siamese. The C.F.A. standard recognizes four colors -- Seal (black-brown), Blue, Chocolate, and Lilac -- for the points... Red points are also recognized by other associations.
These Seal Points, exhibiting the most popular color, show eyes conforming to the standard: “Almond shaped and slanting... in true Oriental fashion.”
Blue Point Siamese, grand champion Jezebelle, wears a coat of bluish white with points of the same shade of “definite blue, giving strong contrast of divided color.”
Lilac Point Siamese, champion Tai Shan, requires, for perfection, a body color of “glacial white.” Points, says the standard, should be “frosty gray with pinkish tone. Foot pads... mauve.”
Himalayan
Champion Goforth Tiara (right) and Blue Point Siamese differ in length of hair and color of masks. Seal Point Himalayan, a cross between Persian and Siamese, must show “conformation the same as for Longhairs,” says the standard. But it must also reveal “color and points the same as for Siamese, with the same color classes.”
Burmese
Mother and kittens reveal the Burmese to be compact and muscular... Their eyes glow a deep gold. Green eyes are a fault and blue eyes “outrageous enough to disqualify the cat”... The unique and wonderful color of the Burmese is a “rich, warm sable brown.” Coat is short, lies close, has a glossy sheen and satiny texture, Fastest growing in popularity among the Shorthairs, the Burm commands a handsome price.
Russian Blue
“Texture and appearance of the coat are the truest criteria of the Russian Blue,” says the standard in consideration of the fact that this cat’s fur is unlike that of any other breed and, in fact, closely resemble sealskin. Like seal, the Blue’s coat is short, thick, and very fine. It feels silky and has a distinct sheen.
Here Grigio, a Blue once owned by the photographer, exhibits the required broad face with nose longer than the Persian but shorter than the Siamese. Vivid green eyes are set wide apart and appear round, rather than almond shaped. Young cats have yellow eyes, which change with time... A highly intelligent cat, Grigio enjoyed jumping from one high stool to another in a graceful, arcing leap. Sometimes Mr. Chandoha held a hoop between the two stools, and the cat sailed through it. The performance made it appear that the owner had trained his Blue. “But that wasn’t true,” says Mr. Chandoha. “I just added the props for Grigio’s own act.” One day Grigio walked off the farm and disappeared from Chandoha’s life.
Abyssinian
A breed fast growing in popularity, the Abyssinian has been known for less than a century; England saw its first pair following a British campaign in Ethiopia in 1868.
These kitten exhibit coats that resemble those of wild rabbits. From a distance, the fur looks brown but actually is ticked... Kittens’ small neat feet make them appear to be standing on tiptoe, as the standard demands. Both wear a necklace of color high on the chest, a marking that is now being bred out of the blood line. If a necklace exists, it must show a break at the throat. Some ambitious exhibitors... “have been known to pluck hairs, to powder, dye, stain, or bleach out a necklace to meet standard.” Bars on the legs of these cats would also be considered a fault.
Manx
Lack of tail distinguishes the Manx. As the standard makes clear, “Tail-lessness must be absolute... There should be a decided hollow at the end of the backbone where, in the ordinary cat, a tail would begin.” The rump should be as round as a ball and supported by hind legs that are longer than the front one.
Grand champion Pola was the first White Manx to win that title. All colors are recognized for the breed, but they must be worn in a double coat.
Rex
Marcel waves rippling across the body and tail give this cat its unusual appearance. Although the Cat Fanciers’ Association has yet to recognize Rex, other groups have proclaimed it a breed and set up standards. The wavy coat should be the “texture of velvet pile,” and the head should exhibit a “Roman profile.” Ears should be “large and naked, set high on the head.”
A spontaneous mutation, the Rex is a one-in-a-million oddity found among Domestic Shorthair kittens. One was discovered in England, another in East Berlin. Both strains now are being bred in the United States. There are very few of them so far, however, and experts feel it will be years before they are well established.
------------------------
those are the breeds! there’s a ton more info in the article, including more details of each breed but those are the basics.
and now, because this post is already long enough, I will add a little more including,
a meme cat:
and a cat that reminds me of the infamous Pangur:
#long post#this is so heavily edited down there really is a ton of great info in the article#it even included outdoor cat discourse!!!! in the 60s!!!!!#cats#cat breeds#siamese cat#persian cat

Year Of Fanfic 2020
684,938 words
WHAT A YEAR. Wow. 684,938 words published on AO3!!! (I’d say about 50k of that wasn’t actually written this year and is instead from WIP’s that started from previous years, but that still leaves me with a solid 600k words. which. geez.)

Coquette in Autumn
Hello everyone! I know that Summer has ended, and that means many people who enjoy the coquette aesthetic are sad because the season of crop tops and shorts, boardwalks, ice cream, swimming, and much much more is gone. Most of the fashion requires warm weather. Fear not, if you’re like me and live in a place where fall exists I have made a list of helping keep up the asethetic and lifestyle.
Clothing:
Sweaters
Sweater dresses
Thigh high socks
Thigh high knee boots
Gloves. Especially ones with skeleton hands or little bows on them.
Hoodies. Especially ones with animal ears/bat wings.
Tights and pantyhose.
Capes
Light jackets
Beret hat
Fuzzy socks
Plaid skirts
Mary Jane shoes
Ankle socks (especially with lace)
Mini backpacks

All kinds of chokers

Activities:
Put together some cute back to school outfits. If you wear uniforms, but can have SOME level of individuality (such as makeup of accessories) find those.
Jump into fall leaves
Go trick or treating! If you feel you’re too old to do it for yourself do it for charity! There are plenty of kids who can’t get candy themselves, or who need money!
Go to a haunted house. Volunteer for a haunted house if you feel it suits you. Being petite can actually be an advantage. Creepy dolls, creepy children, being able to hide in small spaces can all be freaky!
Watch scary movies while sitting on the couch/bed while eating autumn food and wearing fuzzy socks and under a blanket. If you’re too scared by scary movies, watch Halloween specials.
Make/buy a cute/scary Halloween costume! Just make sure not to appropriate any cultures! There’s nothing cute about dressing up like someone else’s race.
Find things to be thankful for.
Volunteer at a local animal shelter. Nothing says Halloween like cats.
Go shopping at Halloween stores.
Decorate your house/apartment/room for Halloween.
Educate yourself on witchcraft and pay respects to those who made Halloween possible.
Pass out candy to trick or treaters (and if you want to, the single cuties chaperoning them).
Cover yourself in fake blood and take photos for Instagram. Just be careful! It stains clothing VERY easily.
Go on a walk through the walls.
Apple picking.
Pumpkin picking.
Carving a jack o lantern.
Reading. Especially with a cup of tea.
Try your hand at archery
Other Objects:
Candles
Mugs

Like every Nightclaw he, too, is very loyal and Fearless and has inhuman strength. Xavier is a honest man, who takes responsibility for his actions and decisions. But he is unable to empathize with others beside his family, which could make him come over as rude and callous.
Xavier is someone, who takes traditions and rules seriously. He is proud about their history of knighthood. He was the one, who gave Uriel dragon blood to save her from a serious illness, when she was an infant. But in the process he turned her into the next dragon warrior, without knowing it. He only found it out when her hair turned white the moment she took the blood.
He taught Uriel how to wield a sword and is always the one who believes in Uriel and supports her in everything she does. Because he knows that his daughter would do the right thing.
As a wizard, he is considered as extremely strong and powerful. Xavier has a keen eye and has great analytical skills. In term of intelligence he isn't lacking either. But his look makes him appear to others as scary and constantly angry, which isn't the case.

Wand wood: Acacia
Wand Core: Thunderbird tail Feather
Briar Nightclaw (née Moonfall)
She is the wife of Xavier and mother of Max, Jacob and Uriel. In terms of personality she is the complete opposite of Xavier. Briar is more outgoing and sociable than her husband. She is an understanding person and doesn't shy away in showing her love to her family. This trait is seen by outsiders sometimes as intrusive but Xavier and Uriel are thankful for her bubbly personality because they both aren't very expressive. Her body is fragile and weak, but she has great magical power, so as a witch she is considered strong. The Moonfall family is known for their eternal beauty (Briar is nearly 50 but looks like she is in her late 20s) and their ability to cast non verbal spells without effort. That's why this particular family only use Alder wood for their wands. Briar is always overprotective of Uriel, eventhough she knows that her daughter is extremely strong. She puts family over everything else and she will protect them with her live.
Side fact: She is a fan of Gilderoy Lockhart and friends with Newt Scammender's son. She's also a fencing master.

Age: 49 (born 1939)
Height: 5'7"
Gender: Female

("Thought to have been rarer than a unicorn when first discovered, black swans represent loyalty, monogamous love, and caring for loved ones. They may have a wild youth but remain monogamous later in life. Black swans represent the healing power of love and romance. Have you ever been on the receiving end of a protective mother swan? Dementors will be chased away by a whirling dervish!")
Wand wood: Alder
Wand Core: White river monster spine
Max Nightclaw
He is the oldest son and the brother of Jacob and Uriel. Max attended Hogwarts at the same time with James Potter and his best friend Severus Snape. Like every Nightclaw, he has the ability to cast powerful spells without effort and has inhuman strength. He also inherited his mother's ability to cast non verbal spells without practicing. He is the only one of the three siblings, that inherited the chartreuse green eyes of their father and the bubbly personality of their mother. That makes him the most expressive one out of the trio. Like it's common for fist borns he is good at leading others and takes responsibility, especially for his siblings. Like his mother he's very emotional and wants to help everyone. He cries easily and eventhough he looks like he knows everything about love, max never had a relationship before, because he always put his whole attention towards his family. Especially after Uriel became an obscurial and Jacob vanished. Even now he travels a lot in hope of finding some information about Jacob and to find a cure for Uriel. As cool headed as Max can be in a difficult situation, if someone insults his siblings or his friend, he will see red in front of his eyes and go ravage without blinking twice. No matter how good of a person he is, Max can't deny that he's also manipulative and has a slight inferior complex, always trying becoming first at everything.
Side fact: He was the chaser of the slytherin team and led a strong rivalry with the fellow chaser of the opposite team, James Potter. Like his mother his wearing his claw like an earring. Max is bisexual.

The dolphin does not enjoy dull, routine activities, so keeping busy with interesting tasks is a must!")
Wand wood: Rowan
Wand Core: Thunderbird tail Feather
(For @persephone-chen 🌼
What he smells like to others:
-Sea breeze, Lemon, Pepper mint)
Jacob Nightclaw
He's the 2nd child of the family and the one that disappeared at the end of his last year at Hogwarts. He's your typical tsundere boy. Cold to everyone at first, but as soon as he warms up to you he'll become all lovely and affectionate. When someone compliments him, he starts to blush and his confidence would shoot up. Jacob has a huge interest in fashion and flowers. He would always style up his clothes and add something self made. Compared to his siblings he didn't inherit the strength of a Nightclaw but instead he got his mother's great magical power. He's also a legilimens like his father. Out of the three he's the most intelligent one and the smallest. Well, with his 5'11" he isn't exactly small but if you look at Max, who is 6'4" tall and Uriel, who is 6'1" and is still growing, Jacob would be considered as small. He is kind and caring to animals and plants. Jacob was one of professors flitwick's most gifted students, which shows how clever and talented he is. Jacob was a quiet person, who would hide in the library to read the whole day. But he was considered as a troublemaker because he was researching the cursed vaults.
He's very caring towards Uriel. Jacob is always dotting on her because she is his only sister. In comparison to their relationship, he would always bicker with Max. But it's not like he hates him. Actually he looks up to him like a little brother would do. But with Jacob's personality he would rather die than admit it. In general Jacob has a good relationship with his whole family but he hates the relatives who wants to use Uriel to gain power and those who are out to kill her because they see her as a future danger.
Like his whole family he is also a strong wizard with massive amounts of magical power.
Side fact: He has a tendency to click his tongue when he's irritated. Jacob is gay and he's favourite book is 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them'.
Job: Florist (after Uriel has found him)
Age: 24 (born 1964)
Height: 5'11"
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: British
Nationality: British
Bloodstatus: Pureblood
House: Hogwarts / Ravenclaw
Patronus: Thestral
("Thestrals get a bad reputation as unlucky omens, probably due to their spooky appearance and association with death. The reality is that these intriguing creatures, which are only visible to people who have witnessed death and accepted its significance, are gentle and kind. Thestrals can fly at incredibly fast speeds and have a keen sense of direction. If the herd that lives in the Forbidden Forest is any indication, Thestrals can be extremely loyal to their human friends and will fiercely attack their enemies. This makes the Thestral an intimidating and powerful Patronus.")
Wand wood: Chestnut
Wand core: Phoenix Feather
-Nightclaw Family History :
The Nightclaw family, formerly Whiteclaw, is a prestigious and powerful family with an outstanding history record, which dates back to the 9th century. They are a noble family and one of the largest, oldest and wealthiest pure blooded wizarding families in Britain. Every Nightclaw served the wizardry world as knights and later as Aurors. Many wizarding families in Britain are distantly related to the Nightclaw family.
They are best known for their inhuman strength and their powerful spells. The Nightclaws were commonly described as having "the look of a warrior and the fierce eyes of an animal" and a strong, fearful presence that made everyone tremble in fear.
The traditional look for the majority of the Nightclaw family is dark hair and brightly colored eyes, though there were some exceptions: Taranis Nightclaw and his two sons, Gareth and Cáel, had blond hair. Also Ulric Xalvador Whiteclaw had white hair, because of the dragon blood he took. Which is also the reason why Uriel Nightclaw has white hair. Despite these differences, each and every member of the Nightclaw family were still noted to be a beauty in their own right, being of tall and muscular stature, with attractive features. It's common for a Nightclaw to be taller than 6'0" and have one or more piercings. Every member wears a claw on their body, be it as an earring or a necklace, to show their affiliation towards the family. The Nightclaw family, as with many other pure blood wizarding families like the Malfoys, the Blacks and the Potter family, is considered to be very wealthy. Despite this, they never acted highly or arrogant. They were and are still very modest about their status and don't like to brag or show off. Such behavior was considered to be impolite and indecent.
The Nightclaws were a rather open minded family, who valued equality and fought against discrimination. One of the reasons why they never forcefully employ house elves. They let them decide if they want to stay with them or not and that as a free house elf. This is why many creatures and servants are really devoted and loyal towards this family, because they repay them with kindness and respect.
(Of course there were some exceptions *cough* Uriel's grandparents *cough*)
There were times when they went against the king's order because of their good natured beliefs, but they were strong allies of the land so they were forgiven. One of the most known facts about the Nightclaw family is that they only mate once. The reason is unknown but every Nightclaw, be it male or female, only falls in love once. If they found a partner they will stay with them until death part them away, but even after their partner died they won't search for another lover. This also applies to the spouse of every Nightclaw. They say that there's no better lover than a Nightclaw and therefore they don't want to marry again. Thus they stay with the family. Nightclaws are known for their loyalty towards people, who earned their trust but also about their nonchalant killing of enemies. They're respected by many people but also feared and are called something like 'those born to kill' or 'the death reapers '. There was a time, when some Nightclaw members turned over to the dark side and followed Grindelwald. Eventhough it was only a small amount of people, their reputation nevertheless fell.
Some tried afterwards to restore their reputation by using Uriel Nightclaw, who is the descendant of Sir Ulric Xalvador Whiteclaw and the next Dragon warrior. Like Ulric she can control and understand the dragons and she can emit fire from her body. Because of this she was chosen as the next heiress, eventhough her brother Max should have become the next heir, if it went according birth order.
The female line had become extinct compared to the male line. For unknown reasons, it happens really rarely that a girl is born in this family. Even Uriel is the first born female member after 10 decades.

With the ability to breathe fire, they quickly assert themselves, garnering both fear and respect from those around them. They are unafraid to take risks and prefer to live by their own set of rules. They are quick to lead and do not back down from a challenge. Dragons are strong in their convictions and will stand for what they believe is right. Those with a dragon for a Patronus are sure to be fierce fighters, and the Dementors better be ready for a challenge!")
What do they see in the mirror of Erised?:

When she looked at the mirror of erised for a last time before leaving Hogwarts, she saw Ulric standing in front of her and she understood that she longs to see him. Which isn't possible anymore.

Trivia (random facts about them, future job, face claim, theme song, etc.):
Uriel
Uriel is the first recorded heiress and female knight in the whole history of Nightclaws
Due to her vast amount of magical power she can cast spells without her wand, which is said to be quite difficult
Uriel can also cast non verbal spells, like her mother and Max
She is a legilimens like her father but she is not so good like Jacob
Uriel was weak and sickly as an infant. Her father gave her the dragon blood to save her otherwise she would have died
Her natural hair color is red but due to the dragon's blood it turned white. The same thing happened to Ulric. His hair is actually black. This explains why Dwyn has black hair and not white.
Uriel was abused by her grandparents, when she refused to use her magic and listen to them
She turned into an Obscurial when she was 7. Thanks to Ulric, who suppressed the obscurus in her, she didn't die at the age of 12. Uriel was officially healed, when she turned 18 years old.
Uriel is Demisexual
She has skillful hands
She's seen by others as a monster and is called like that
"The inhuman strength of the Nightclaws and the sheer magical power of the Moonfalls. It's like they created a monster in form of a girl." - Patricia Rakepick to Dumbledore
She's a fighting prodigy
Uriel once participated in a fencing lesson and won against everyone there. Even the teachers, who earned many gold medals, lost to her. Her mother was told that she learned all forms and moves just from watching her peers once.
Something similar happened when Xavier taught Uriel how to handle a sword and some family movements passed down from each generation. During a sword fight Uriel used some moves, that Xavier had still not taught her. It was like she had already fought before. Which wasn't the case. For some reasons, her body remembered these movements and her body naturally followed them.
" It's as if the skills of all her predecessors and their knowledge are flowing through her veins and integrated into her body. " - Xavier Nightclaw
There were many foiled assassination attempts on Uriel
As of 1991 Uriel is officially the Dragon warrior and heiress of the Nightclaw family. She's also declared as one of the strongest beings alive
It is only half true that Uriel is human. After taking the dragon's blood, she got some dragon traits that appeared over time, such as her slitted pupils, fang teeth or her highly resistant skin.
Uriel has PTSD
She has Hypersomnia
Uriel had Hallucinations of her grandparents until the end of year 4
Uriel can see Thestrals. She saw how an old man, she was friends with, got killed by death eaters
Uriel made a blood pact with Chen Jing
Her dragon is the same as Ulric's, Dragoon
Nightclaw family
The wand of every Nightclaw is so altered that it can transform into their swords, to make battles easier for them
The Nightclaw family was founded by putting the surnames of Ulric and Eleanor together.
There's a high possibility that the Moonfall family is related to the Nightmoon family
Every dead Nightclaw either died of a natural death, a curse or while they protected their family
915: Arciel Xavier Whiteclaw was beheaded by the enemy because he refused to reveal to them the whereabouts of his brother Ulric
930: Ulric Xalvador Whiteclaw died of a curse he got instead of his son
946: there was an assassination attempt on the 2 year old Emrys Nightclaw, which was foiled by Esmé Nightclaw, who protected his nephew with his body
1819: Bellona Nightclaw (one badass queen) chose death over betrayal and died by the hand of the White Order. She also refused to reveal to them where the family tower lies, that holds secrets and treasures
She was also the last born female Nightclaw before Uriel
Jacob is the smallest male Nightclaw with his 5'11"
Every Nightclaw mansion have some kind of creatures or animals. Uriel's family has two gigantic lions, that can speak
The house elves of the Nightclaws serve the family out of their free will
The official flower of the Nightclaw family is a blue Rose (It was the favorite flower of Arciel)
And their official color is dark blue. This could be due to their excessive use of this color in their clothes.
Dragoon should have died when Ulric was dead but because his soul was bound to this world due to the curse, Dragoon stayed alive. He fell into a deep slumber until Uriel was born.
He is more than 1000 years old
Finally done🌼 there are actually more facts but this is enough for now
I will tag @kas-voton @zuulosdovah @jadeowl19 and everyone who wants to do it 💁🏼♀️

Prayer | Umbrella Academy
Several years in the past, Klaus and his company arrive in a bustling Vietnamese city after a long journey. Klaus has his first semi-religious experience.
You can also read it on my Archive down below.
—
'Bạn đã mất một ai đó?
You lost someone?
Băn khoăn hay lạc lối?
Disturbed or astray?
Kitô hữu vào bên trong.
Christians come in.'
Well, it was better than nothing.
Klaus approached the dilapidated church on the corner, less than excited to enter this "holy" building. Whether it was something to behold before or just as mediocre, the Ho Minha congregational church had seen better days. There was no bell hung in the bell tower; The roof had a few cracked or wholly absent shingles; the stained glass windows were dirty, dusty, turning Jesus' family portrait into a caricature of life in the Dust Bowl. Door hinges squealed age-old protests as he stepped through the door.
The inside was a little neater: pews in careful arrays and a podium up front, with risers just behind that might have been for the choir. Reginald was a stickler about church for a while, forced the siblings to go, so the whole thing wasn't entirely foreign. The familiarity was just too distant to touch. Bad memories had pushed it from Klaus's mind, like a kite with it's string spooled all the way out.
Klaus felt the briefest chill skitter along his spine.
He felt a little uncomfortable just standing. His sleeveless jacket showed his many tattoos to, for all he knew, some Buddhist God or Monk that curated the church. He was doing a shit job if there was, and the scruffy little man got the feeling it still wasn't the case.
Klaus ran a callused finger along the back of a pew. His pad came back dusty. Was it a Vietnamese rule to not clean anything more than twice a year? Klaus rubbed his finger and thumb to dispell the muck and walked on to the very first pew. Somewhere in the surrounding halls, music echoed, muted, like the sound of solemn chimes playing in tandem.
"Ya'aseh shalom...ya'aseh shalom..."
Gee.
What had Klaus come here for? He almost forgot. With the whole lack of sanctity and the almost complete lack of people (excluding the Vietnamese woman who very clearly avoided being in the same room with him).
"Oseh shalom bim' romav....aleinu, v'al kol yisrael..."
It sounded something like Hindu or Hebrew, whatever that language was called. Jewish folk occupied one-half of the Christian Church, apparently. Fuck it. It was Vietnam. The fact that this temple had been converted to a Christian hideaway meant it was an act found by coercion. Any and all churches they found along the war path would probably have the same origins. Klaus might've questioned the morality of the whole thing, but he only recognized that prayer because he had spent more than a few nights in the shelter of church arches and stoops, listening to the sermons or prayers or hymns while trying to sleep. They typically went in one ear, out the other, disappearing in the air like curls of smoke from his nose.
Klaus found it soothing despite himself. He took a seat in one dusty pew, hunched over. A sigh rattled around the confines of his ribcage. Why had he even come here? What was this supposed to achieve?
Need something?
Probably, Klaus thought. Mentally, he replaced the wall between him and the ghosts hovering in the back of his mind. Then a shadow fell over his shoulders, his legs, and the dark man twitched his head up to see what had caused it.
"Need something?" A short woman with fire red hair repeated in a gentle tone, reaching tentatively for Klaus's shoulder. Concern lit up the brown of her eyes into something like brushed gold.
"No, no, just uh...thiiiinking." Klaus let the last syllable drawl out as his train of thought briefly derailed. The nurse just smiled, placating, smoothing her scrub skirt with dried stains on it; she sat a foot away from the stranger on the pew. Klaus never flinched at blood, but something about the skirt made his throat close up. The gore she must've just saw to end up with such marks. There were splatters, and splotches like someone with bloodied hands had grabbed her, or--
"I'm a nurse."
Klaus jumped. "Pa-pardon?"
"The blood. I'm a nurse. MASH unit one-oh-nine." Her smile fell. Klaus waited for further explanation. She didn't give it.
"I'm just a soldier," Klaus hummed. "I think..33rd. Y'know, the whole war would be a lot more tolerable without all the 5-mile marches."
The nurse giggled at that, giving Klaus room to relax as much as he physically could. She had no reason to believe he didn't belong here. Or that a briefcase mistakenly brought him from New York, 2017 to Saigon, 1964. "I'm Klaus."
"Bonnie."
The silence went on for a while after that. The Jewish hymns petered out, started up again; the praying Buddhists spoke in hushed whispers with their foreheads pressed to points at the foot of a bronze statue. Bonnie fidgeted, sniffled, then suddenly plucked a hymn book from the back of the pew. She moved closer. "Sing with me, Klaus?"
Klaus hissed through clenched teeth. Should've known. God damned southern Jesus freaks.
"I don't, um, remember many hymns." Seeing her face fall, he rushed to finish with, "But it would help me if you sang it. Y'know, so I can, um, pray."
Bonnie nodded, and Klaus didn't miss the change in demeanor. Suddenly a determined, motherly woman replaced the trembling girl who just didn't want to be here, trying to save lives that were already gone. Gone before they hit the operating table.
"You go 'head and think about someone--someone you want to keep safe. Could be here or back stateside."
Dave.
Klaus mumbled assent and ducked his head. Bonnie quirked a brow, noting the fleeting look of love in his eye, but said nothing. She eased into a gentle song as Klaus studied his feet, feeling rather useless, dumb, childish, all the colors of the rainbow of shame.
"Make me a channel of your peace...When there's despair in life let me bring hope..."
Very steadily, Klaus could feel the presence of the intangible, forming ranks around the two of them. Furtively, he glanced through his lashes at the air. Blue smoke, the shapes of bodies slowly shaping themselves. Klaus swallowed back a lump, quiet horror filling his chest like tar.
A Vietnamese boy with his leg missing at the hip, nothing but a strange blue wisp where his stump was. A middle-aged soldier, forehead split, some exposed skull in fragments just beneath, with the hardest eyes he'd ever seen. An Asian woman in elegant wear stood right beside him, caked in dried red paste, gripping the dainty hand of a child in her own. All of them, he noticed, stared straight at Bonnie. Unwavering. Intense.
Some of their auras were bright, some fading, evidence they had been dead for some time. The "fresh" auras had similarly fresh wounds, some still dropping coagulated clumps of blood around them; Some of them had clothes a size too small, namely the little ones, all of whom were not fresh and bore little to no outward wounds on clear, wood brown skin, standing with mothers and fathers who most certainly died violently. The implications of that were almost too much for Klaus to handle.
"...Where there is darkness, holy light...and where there's sadness, ever joy..."
Bonnie ran through two more verses. The song faded, as did the echo, but the ghosts remained, though their light flickered perilously. Tears threatening to fall finally dried on his cheeks. Klaus hid a sniffle with the creaking of the seat when he sat up.
"Do you think we're doing okay?" Bonnie broke the painful silence with a whisper, a quaver in her voice. "Here, I mean. Are we doing good for the people here? Should we even be here?"
Standing right behind Bonnie, hands on her shoulders, a young man, smiling so softly Klaus thought it wasn't there at all. He couldn't have been more than 19 or 20. The beginnings of gory lacerations peeked from over the pew, disappeared beneath it, much to his relief. He was making noise, unintentionally, like water dropping on the ground below. Strangely, his blue aura was strong, not wavery or faint like the other's. Fresh. Recent?
Bonnie couldn't feel the touch, couldn't see the ring of people around them, but Klaus met the eyes of the apparition. It nodded. Slowly, sadly, he nodded back.
"Yes." Bonnie turned her head, taken aback, as though she hadn't expected him to answer.
"Yes," Klaus rasped, his breath taken from him because he honestly hadn't expected an answer himself. "Yes, I think we are doing good here. One of us is."

so uh i know literally no one except like two people care about this but i was thinking today about steve and tony as one does, and if you’re not aware i have a tag for them i call #red oni blue oni and in case you don’t know what that refers to here’s the explanation from tv tropes:
“This trope is about two individuals (or occasionally, factions or civilizations) that are significantly linked together somehow (such as through a rivalry, friendship, being siblings, co-workers, competitors, etc.) that have differing personalities and, with it, often different approaches to the world in general, especially whatever they might be competing in/for/over. This, of course, gives them something to butt heads about, since their manner of acting may rub each other the wrong way and each is sure that their way of doing things is right.”
which you know, OBVIOUSLY steve and tony fit that trope because if anything they’re the driving forces for every major event that’s happened with the avengers since they found cap in 1964. but ALSO there’s more
even though with the red and blue thing you associate Steve with the blue oni and Tony with the red oni, it appears as though they’re the exact reversed:
“The Red Oni is associated with passion, wildness, and defiance. A Red Oni character is often more brawny than brainy, extroverted, enthusiastic, determined, and filled with a zest for life. They are also much more likely to break conventions and rules than their counterpart. If a Red Oni is indeed noticeably intelligent, they will still be much more wild and impetuous than the Blue Oni and/or with less sophisticated thoughts, feelings, or goals. Generally speaking, they're more people-oriented than goal-oriented (although both Oni's can be either). They may or may not shrug off criticism about themselves or their aims and goals, but say or do something nasty to their closest friends and you've just guaranteed yourself a world of pain.” Now i’m not saying Steve is a Big Dumb Blond but the defiant, loud mouthed kid from brooklyn that never took no for an answer is really something that rings true with this description.
“The Blue Oni is associated with serenity, control and observing authority. A Blue Oni is more intellectual, proud, traditional, introverted, and cultured (sometimes more spiritual, although that's not guaranteed). Blue Oni personalities are often respected by others, but also likely to puzzle or confound their peers because they are difficult to read and have a mysterious quality to them. It's worth noting that while blue types appear tremendously calm and composed, sometimes, this is just the surface, and scratching that façade may show that they are, if anything, wound far too tight beneath their calm and unemotional appearance.” lmao okay so.... traditional? introverted? stoic? those are all descriptors you would NEVER apply to Tony Stark. but then again, if we separate Tony the outside image he’s so carefully crafted from the real Tony who almost no one gets to see, then perhaps it’s more accurate. we know Tony is an alcoholic with a depressive streak and it’s dangerously easy fro him to slip into self destructive habits precisely because he does NOT communicate. he’s great at deflecting - try talking to him about his feelings and he’ll get ragingly drunk and blow up his house only to avoid answering. so... blue?
i still have my hang ups with dividing them so neatly as Red and Blue when it’s more like a swirl of colors where it ends up a purple shade bc they both have things from each Oni. but here is where it gets more interesting and what makes me say OH MY GOD YES THEY’RE THE EMBODIMENT OF THIS TROPE:
“While many expressions of this trope play it straight, it is also not uncommon for the Blue Oni and Red Oni to mix traits. The Red Oni, while usually the more passionate and emotion-driven, may also be the more easy-going and flexible of the two. Their more simplistic world-view may make them at least partially immune to angst and Wangst. Conversely, the Blue Oni, while usually stoic and thoughtful, may hide a volatile, angsty nature that may erupt if pushed too far. In such instances the two may switch roles (...)
There are a lot of ways to play their interactions, so sometimes the two are both leads on an equal standing, sometimes the blue is more of The Smart Guy or The Lancer to the red's Hot Blooded The Leader or The Big Guy. The relationship can also vary wildly, as they are just as likely to be close friends as they are to be bitter rivals or enemies. One thing that is sure is that regardless of how big a cast is, when these two are in it, they will be magnetically drawn to each other.“
See?! the Red oni/Blue oni trope is not so much about them being complete opposites, night and day, black and white, it’s more about how their differences bring them together but their similarities is what keeps them that way. jfc Steve and tony are literally two sides of the same coin, where that coin is justice and heroism and Steve is a deontological representation of what a hero is, while Tony is more a pragmatic/utilitarian reflection of a hero. They are both philosophical movements that focus on Good and achieving what’s right but in far different ways.
Even further developing their portrayal, it’s obvious they borrow from both onis interchangeably:
“In a show where it's relevant, differences in fighting style may be something like Technician vs. Performer. For example, a red may rush headlong into combat without focus or a plan, relying on surprise or intimidation. It may be that their strategy is to close the fight quickly before their opponent can think or adapt. (”Stark, we need a plan of attack!” “I have a plan - ATTACK!”) The blue may use cunning traps, stealth and strategies, or tend to win in elegant Single-Stroke Battle fashion, or rely on hitting a target with magical powers or projectiles from a distance instead of running up to their opponent and punching them in the face. (Now, does this sound more like Steve or like Tony? because to me this is Tony’s battle strategy to a T. he never punches someone in the face, well besides a few exceptions. He literally has projectiles with body heat targeting. so is tony the blue one or the red one?) Force and Finesse is a variation where red tends to rely on raw power while blue uses precision strikes.“ (Steve rogers is a brilliant strategist, and reminds everyone all the time that he’s the Man with a Plan and everyone always defers to him on the battlefield. But then again, he’s also the kid who used to weigh 90 pounds soaking wet and still went round for round with bullies twice his size without thinking about it. “I can do this all day” says the punk as he throws punches blind. that’s a Red oni thing, but he’s strategy overall is more Blue oni.)
Even so, something else that’s been established time and time again is the difference in their fighting styles. Steve is a boxer, which ultimately means offensive fighting, while Tony practices kung fu and mixed martial arts, which translates into defensive fighting. BUT THEN WAIT, there’s also the fact that Steve has a goddamn shield, which is meant to defend against attacks, while Tony has a weaponized suit of armor that flies, which can be either of both things but is normally used more for offensive attacks, unless you just wanna fly away or bring up the nanotech shield you took from Steve’s book, Tony.
The trope says that Red does everything impulsively, without plan, relying on his instinct while Blue makes a plan and trains to do all perfectly. That’s Tony being the red oni and Steve being the Blue oni. But then, there’s also the brawn vs. brains dichotomy where “Red would focus on becoming physically superior often by putting his/her body through an insane amount of intense training which can be dangerous at times” which is Steve. And meanwhile “Blue would focus on getting smarter and gathering all possible knowledge, betting on their intelligence to win them the fight” which is definitely Tony. So then again, it’s all a mixture where they’re both Onis and yet they both complement the other one where they’re lacking.
In conclusion Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are kindred spirits and also Red and Blue Onis and I love them a lot but not as much as they love each other

Best Class(es):
Potions: Although Snape is super strict and is constantly putting Alexa down for her work, she is really good with potions due to her mother. She was always on top of her studies for potions came natural for her.

Least Favorite Teacher:
Rakepick: From the very beginning, Alexa refused to trust her. Alexa has always gotten an eerie vibe from her and refuses to get too close to her (both physically and mentally).
Favorite Teacher:
Professor McGonagall: Alexa looks up to Professor McGonagall as a mentor. Even though they are from different houses, McGonagall is always there to steer Alexa in the right direction and Alexa appreciates all of the extra help she does to keep her in the right path in life.
Closest HPHM Friends:
Rowan Khanna:
From the moment they met each other, they both knew they would be friends for the rest of their life. Together they would study for upcoming tests and prepare for the Cursed Vaults. However, as time went on they began to drift apart. But once a month they both stay up all night and catch each other up on the drama in their lives as they share Chocolate Frogs and other sweets with each other.
Penny Haywood:
The two girls bond over their enjoyment of potion making together. They constantly gives each other tips about various things without no explanation or reasoning at all. Penny is the girl that Alexa can go to whenever she has a problem. Penny always knows what to say and always calms down Alexa's nerves.
Bill Weasley:
Bill is like the replacement brother for Alexa. Ever since Jacob ran away, she has been lost without any guidance or protection. But when she met Bill, she knew she had someone to call family if she ever needs it. Bill is always there for Alexa, adopting her as his own sister. They have a close sibling relationship that has bonded them forever.
Barnaby Lee:
Alexa and Barnaby was an instant pair as soon as they laid eyes on each other. Although they did not recognize their feelings right away, the two bonded immediately. It wasn't until the Celestial Ball their 4th year that Alexa had the guts to ask Barnaby out. Even then, they were not officially dating until a week before the end of the year when they went on their first official date. Alexa has always been patient with Barnaby's slowness but it was always worth it when he would surprise her with cute sketches of bowtrickles (Alexa's favorite creature) in her textbooks and notes.

Episkey- She is always injured or hurt
Accio- Lazy af
Alohomora- She is forgetful like her mother and always forgets to bring keys with her

She marries Barnaby Lee 2 years after graduating from Hogwarts. They have a small wedding with all of their friends from Hogwarts.
Her favorite ways to pastimes include: visiting the magical creatures she has adopted, playing Wizard Chess, and going to Three Broomsticks to have a butterbeer with her friends.
Barnaby and Alexa snuck out of their houses during the summer before their 5th year (during the week of Alexas birthday) and camped out in the woods, enjoying nature and the creatures they found (both magical and non magical)
