It is directly in colonizer interests for Indigenous people to stop having children because of how terribly they are bring oppressed, so its stupid to ask us why we're having children during a harsh oppression. There's a reason why colonizing settler states will target people to sterilize them either by force or secretly. I haven't been out in public much due to taking a year off from school and not being able to work. I've been watching the news around the i/p conflict from indoors and have admittedly been reluctant to look at my states numbers.

So, i finally decided to take a look at the ADL's H.E.A.T. Map and uh...

Florida's had a huge rise in white supremacist propaganda and antisemetic hate crimes since the start of 2023. I figured there would be, since the backlash against the global jewry has been particularly volatile both on and offline. But i hadn't checked the local numbers until now.

We are one of the few states into the 100+ range and that's particularly horrifying. If we look into the specific numbers, we have:

123 antisemitic incidents, with a majority being vandalism and harassment. A number of these incidents occurred with white supremacist movement (propaganda being spread as well as gatherings).

I know everyone's probably exhausted. But i just want to point out some of the hotspots: Orlando (17 incidents), West Palm Beach (10), Boca Raton (7), Fort Lauderdale (4), and Miami (6).

Thankfully, my city has not had any, and I hope that remains.

I don't know enough about the conflict to say anything more than this: I want jews and palestanians to be safe. I want them to have an ability to govern themselves and not be infringed upon or attacked. I don't want more people to die, on either side.

And, it is not "decolonization" to suggest that an entire civilian population be destroyed for the wrongdoings of their government.

We can call for the dismantling of Israel's government all we want, but THIS here only proves what others have said: the diaspora is too unsafe. This is what is used to reinforce the notion that Israel is necessary at all costs.

We cannot call for deconstruction without being willing to address the rampant white supremacy and antisemitism throughout the US and most of Europe. We can't keep kicking jews out of their homes.

You can't support a free Palestine then use antisemitism as a bludgeon, and expect that to somehow save them.

Focus more on combating antisemitism in your area and generating support for Palestinian relief.

As a Jewish historian, I fucking hate Israel in ways most probably will never be able to comprehend. I'm going to try and explain it anyways. The central creation myth of Israel is that it is Jewish, and then consequently, that Israel is a part of Jewishness. Its easy to simply state this is false, but fully comprehending this and putting it into practice in thought and deed seems rare to me.

The evil at the heart of this violence predates the recent acceleration of genocide. Israel is a colony, and more than that, an antisemitic fraud itself. After WW2, when Israel was being founded, the Jews of Europe generally did not wave goodbye to their neighbors and head to the promised land. Many were expelled from their homes. Zionism itself, as an action, was a false choice at the time. A mere excuse to place an ally in the middle east, and an excuse to complete the expulsion and destruction of the European Jew. The Zionist Jew is more than complicit in this, they actively seek the destruction and assimilation of all other Jews.

Many fail to realize, and largely because of Israel, that Jews are not inherently white, Ashkenazi, European-descended people. Our faith and culture has an immense variety that is spread all across the globe. Jewishness, in population and volume of culture, exists more so outside of Israel than within it. Israel is for a very specific kind of Jew. The kind that lets Yiddish die, that attaches themselves to European things, that makes themselves and their practices as white as possible.

And they have the nerve, the fucking belligerent GALL, to frame themselves as the necessary saviors of our people. To the Zionist, questioning Israel is to question Jewishness itself. They bake adoration for the colonial machine into their very prayers, and push them on us even as children. To *not* oppress, to *not* kill, to *not* genocide, is to invite death. This is the core of fascistic thought, of course. "Kill them before they kill us." And they KNOW this too, they really do. The truth of that irony does not matter, because as is true for all fascists, the truth itself does not matter to them. They wanted this, they wanted this even before the British saw it in their best interest to give them the land. Any excuse to RETVRN, as the neo-nazis say of Rome, or the German Empire, or whatever the fuck stupid country they want to poorly animate the corpse of. God I'm so glad to finally see some good fucking opinions on the current critical role story. I think people are relying way too hard on their assumptions about exandria lore from like 7 years ago (at the end of campaign 1). I may be wrong but it feels Matt wants to shift away from telling the really simplistic and chauvinist kind of story DnD typically facilitates (Objectively Good Guys vs Objectively Bad Guys) to something with more meat on it but alas it seems a lot of the audience are story-vegans 😔😔

thank you for the nice words bestie i am glad that i am not just yelling into the abyss! and also that i can provide the cool relief of a good take in a sea of insanity to someone else. you're so right though... like i think there's a whole clusterfuck of reasons ppl are losing their minds on this one, but I assumed the nostalgia and attachment to past campaigns was a big part of it. especially with all the ppl begging for a PC with an uncritically faithful relationship with a god. i have personally not gotten to the parts of either campaign 1 or 2 where they start talking to gods, though, so i can only assume the Dawnfather singlehandedly stopped exandrian climate change and was giving out free handsjobs and that's why people are riding so hard for him now.

the point about dnd and the kinds of stories it facilitates is also VERY GOOD and something i have been thinking about a lot in this debate!!! but like yeah, the fact that the Dawnfather is historically Good means something to a lot of people apparently. enough that they'll bend over backwards to defend the guy, and find reasons why his opposition must be the bad ones, because a piece of paper somewhere says he's Lawful Good and they haven't yet realized that that's an oxymoron in any society with unjust laws

on that note, i think you're absolutely right about Matt not just trying to tell a more complicated story, but also challenging and reckoning with some of the reductive fantasy tropes that found their way into early Exandria and the stories of previous campaigns. it's very cool to get to see a storyteller have this kind of growth and reexamine their own work in (kind of) real time. rip to some of you but as a Nuance Enjoyer i'm having a fucking blast
