Matt Murdock (Daredevil) - Chapter 2
It didnât take much skill sneaking him into your room.
You lived on the first floor, so thankful all he had to do was climb through your bedroom window the moment you were inside. You felt a bit guilty making him do all that work given his state. Once he was inside you guided him to the couch as you ran to get your first aid kit.Â
âJ-Just make yourself at home.âÂ
You werenât really sure how to act. When you came back, he was seated next to the window, head leaned against the wall. Not that you got a good look at him in the light, you could see some other bruises on parts of his face that were visible. His lip was busted, chin bruised and his nose also had a spec of dried blood.
Your hands lowered, saddened at his state. You couldnât imagine even doing what he did. Protecting people and stopping criminals without so much as a thank you. Suddenly your own secret felt insignificant. This guy didnât appear to have any special powers but he was risking his life. Placing the first aid kit down, you moved over to him. You could help him, really help.Â
âMr. Daredevil sir, I-Iâm gonna do something but you have to promise that you wonât freak out.âÂ
He shifted against the wall.Â
âIs there a reason I would freak out?âÂ
âProbably.âÂ
The gesture he made hinted that he was questioning you. You just sighed, walking over to him carefully. You werenât sure why you were acting like he was a wild animal. Surely if he wanted to attack he could have done it at any time. When you were finally within reach, you kneeled on the floor.
You took a few deep breaths, because you really needed to calm yourself before you did this. He didnât speak, just waited patiently for whatever youâd been working yourself up to. You reached out, and when he felt your palm pressed against his bloody bicep, he tensed. For a moment nothing happened, but the slight burn on the spot made him jolt and your grip tightened.Â
âP-Please just stay still.âÂ
You seemed hyper focused and he felt like he at least needed an explanation, but the pain in his hand started to feel numb, and he lifted his head when he could no longer feel anything. Not just in his arm, but his jaw felt great, so did his knuckles and his gut where he was sure heâd taken a few blows the night before.Â
You pulled back, and he just sat there, trying to make sense of it. He touched his jaw, searching for the injury, but there was none.Â
He was healed. He could still taste the blood in the air, but no wound. He couldnât believe it.Â
âDid you..heal my wounds?âÂ
You nodded aggressively.Â
âP-Please donât say anything! Y-You saved my life so I know youâre a good guy. Thatâs why I couldn't just let you go with all those injuries. T-Thank you so much for saving me!âÂ
He never got the chance to get a word in, because you leaned in wrapping your arms around his neck as you hugged him. He was somewhat pinned to the wall at the position, hands lifted in surprise. He wasnât sure what to say and you just kept your eyes clenched shut as you held onto him. He could hear the frantic beats of your heart. No doubt from the ordeal of the night. With a soft smile, his hands lowered and he returned the embrace, patting your back softly.Â
âYouâre welcome.âÂ
After that night, he left and youâd called and told the police about the attack. By the next day, just about everyone knew that Aaron was a predictor. The college expelled him and he was charged. You felt a lot better knowing that he was off the streets. Given how calculated the attack was, itâs clear that heâd probably done it before.Â
Foggy and Matt found you during the little lunch break you had. Foggy hugged you the second you were in sight and Matt was rubbing your arm.Â
âIâm so sorry! I should have been there to walk you home at night until exams were over.â You pulled back, shaking your head.Â
âItâs not your fault Foggy, no one knew about Aaron. Iâve also invested in some protective measures. â You held your keys that now had a can of pepper spray attached to it.Â
âI contemplated getting brass knuckles but I don't think the school would let me have that.âÂ
âDonât worry, if you need some just say the word, I know a guy.â You laughed at Foggyâs statement, shoving his arm.Â
âWeâre glad youâre okay.âÂ
You took a seat and they followed. Foggy raised a brow when you looked left and right before you leaned in closer.Â
âYou guys arenât going to believe this but I was saved last night.âÂ
âSaved? By who?â Foggy pressed.Â
âBy Daredevil. Heâs real. I saw him. He beat the shit out of Aaron like it was nothing.âÂ
âYouâre kidding! You actually saw him!!âÂ
You pressed your hands to Foggyâs mouth to quiet him.Â
âKeep your voice down!âÂ
He nodded and you moved your hands.
âYou canât tell anyone okay. Iâm not really sure what his story is, but I didnât say a word to the cops about him. Iâm a little scared they might try to find him. Heâs a good guy. If he wasnât there, who knows what would have happened.âÂ
More than anything, youâre grateful.
âI gotcha. Did you at least talk to him? What was he like?âÂ
You straighten a bit.Â
âI did talk to him for a little while. He was a bit..stoic I guess.âÂ
Foggy looked intrigued.Â
âThatâs awesome, right Matt?âÂ
Matt nods.Â
âI canât imagine what that must have been like.âÂ
You were still partially convinced that you imagined the whole thing.Â
âFrom now on no late night library trips you hear me!â Foggyâs lecturing tone had you smiling. Heâd immediately gone into older brother mode.Â
âI wonât, I promise Foggy.âÂ
Despite that promise, you still needed to study for your algebra exam tomorrow. The library has all the books you need with the practice exams, but you donât get out of your last class until about eight and youâre honestly terrified to be out after dark now.Â
âIf you want, I can help you with your algebra. You mentioned it before. If you need to go to the library I can walk you back to your apartment. I don't have a late class like Foggy today.âÂ
Your face lit up at the offer.Â
âAre you sure?âÂ
âIâm positive.â He smiled and you nodded.Â
âIâd love that, thank you Matt!âÂ
âNo problem.âÂ

Wrote this piece in a hurry for Vocal Mediaâs The Perfect Pair challenge. It got removed from the challenge a couple hours after being accepted as a story, but oh well. I wanted to write about one of my quirks that I picked up in college.Â

FĆiskolai Ă©vek / College years đ
1966 szeptemberĂ©ben Freddie beiratkozott az Ealing Technical Collage & School of Art divattervezĆ kĂ©pzĂ©sĂ©re. ZanzibĂĄrbĂłl hozott ruhatĂĄrĂĄt lecserĂ©lte, Ă©s Ć is elkezdte az 1960-as Ă©vek londoni, bohĂ©m stĂlusĂĄt követni.
Fokozta azt Ă©rzĂ©seit a BBC TV, 1966 decemberĂ©ben leadott Ready Steady Go! cĂmƱ mƱsorĂĄban fellĂ©pĆ amerikai gitĂĄros, Jimi Hendrix. BelĂ©pett, Ă©s azonnal felvillanyozta a helyisĂ©get. Ć testesĂtett meg mindent, amit el akartam Ă©rni.â â mesĂ©lte Freddie.
Freddie elhatĂĄrozta, hogy a zenĂ©ben fog sikereket elĂ©rni Ă©s sztĂĄrrĂĄ vĂĄlik. âMĂĄr kiskorĂĄtĂłl kezdve dalokat szerzett. Ăn minden mĂĄs anyĂĄhoz hasonlĂłan azt mondtam neki, hogy tanuljon, Ă©s rakjon rendet a szobĂĄjĂĄban. Egyszer bementem hozzĂĄ a szbĂĄjĂĄba Ă©s mondtan, hogy össze fogom szedni a szemetet, Ă©s kidobĂĄlom a pĂĄrnĂĄja alĂłl is a papĂrokat, mire Ć ezt felelte: âEszedbe ne jusson!â. Dalokat Ărt, dalszövegeket, aztĂĄn a pĂĄrnĂĄja alĂĄ tette Ćket, mielĆtt lefekĂŒdt.
**************************************************************************
In September 1966, Freddie enrolled at the Ealing Technical Collage & School of Art for Fashion Design. He changed his wardrobe from Zanzibar, and he began to follow the London Bohemian style of the 1960s. His appearance consisted of extremely tight velvet pants, leather and suede jackets, satin and silk flower shirts and ankle boots. Living in one of the most exciting corners of the world, Freddie was restless and rebellious. More than anything else, he wanted to move away from home. âHe went out a lot and was when he didnât come home all night. Freddie and my mom were constantly arguing about it.â - recalled Kashmira.
Freddie became very tired of college dyeing and design, as his musical tendencies grew. Enhanced feelings on BBC TV, released in December 1966 on Ready Steady Go!, American guitarist Jimi Hendrix. Everything fascinated Freddie, represented by Hendrix, in the music, the fashion, the hairstyle, but most of all, his dominance of the stage. âI would have traveled all over the country to see his concerts, because he really had everything a rock star needed, his style, his personality, was the best he could. He didn't have to force anything. He stepped in and immediately lit up the room. He embodied everything I wanted to achieve.â - Freddie said.
Freddie decided that he would succeed in music and become a star. âHe's been singing songs since he was a kid. Like any other mother, I told him to study and put his room in order. I went to his bed once and told that I was going to pick up the garbage and throw out the paper under his pillow, and he said, "Don't get it!". He wrote songs, lyrics, then put them under his pillow before he went to bed. He only thought about music, he wasn't interested in learning, and my husband didn't know what the kid was going to do later.â - Jer recalled.

Matt Murdock (Daredevil) - Chapter 1
â(Y/N)!âÂ
Foggy was yelling in the library and you tried to expertly walk away like you had no idea who he was.Â
â(Y/N)! I know you see me!âÂ
âGeez dude stop it weâre in the library!âÂ
The librarian gave you both a hard look before she kicked you out. You frowned and Foggy just laughed as he nudged your arm.Â
âSometimes I swear you were raised by wolves.âÂ
âVery handsome wolves.â He counters.
You rolled your eyes, looking over at Matt.Â
âHe dragged you into his schemes again?âÂ
Matt nods.Â
âAlways.âÂ
âHey man, not cool.âÂ
You and Matt laugh as you walk through the hallway.Â
College days are the best time. Youâd know Foggy for a little over five years and when you started your freshman year, he introduced you to his new bestie Matt Murdock. At first you were a little jealous at the idea of being replaced. But Matt was a pretty solid guy. Within the span of a semester you were all practically inseparable. They were dependable. Even though Foggy spent most of his time chasing girls, whenever you needed him, he was there. Matt was a nice guy to talk to. He seemed to be pretty wise compared to some of the idiots that youâd met. Yep, life was sweet.Â
Except your midterms were coming up, hence the reason Foggy saw it fit to drag you out of the library every other night.Â
âQuit being a nerd, thereâs a party tonight letâs go!âÂ
You roll your eyes.Â
âFoggy, if you want to graduate you should probably actually study. I thought you guys were trying to be lawyers.â
âWe are.âÂ
âHmm, doesnât look that way.âÂ
You grin when Foggy starts to complain. With a laugh, you hold out an elbow for Matt as you all continue to head back to your dorms. Foggy and Matt live together, but your apartment is a little way off campus.Â
âHave you been leaving the library this late every night?âÂ
You nod at Mattâs question.Â
âYeah, Algebra is kicking my butt. I got a tutor like you suggested but the guy tried to make a move on me so that ended really quickly. Iâve also got a few assignments to finish. When exams are over Iâll have time to relax.âÂ
Matt just tilts his head in that way he does when heâs thinking.Â
âIf youâd like I can-âÂ
â(Y/N) look at this!!âÂ
Foggyâs excited yell distracts you and you stare in awe at the art on the side of one of the buildings thatâs definitely against regulation. It's spray painted, pretty detailed of the vigilante thatâs been running around.Â
Daredevil.
âThatâs crazy right, I heard he runs around beating the shit out of criminals.âÂ
âSounds scary to me.â You add.Â
You couldnât imagine doing that. For a moment your eyes stray to your palms. You swallow. Matt isnât oblivious to the action.Â
âEverything okay?âÂ
Mattâs concern pulls you out of your straying thoughts. You nod, leaning closer into his arm.Â
âIâm great. Letâs hurry back before Daredevil thinks weâre troublemakers and comes after us.â You joke.Â
You hope that your voice is convincing enough. You have to assume that it is, because he doesnât question further.Â
The days seem to rush by, so does the pressure for you to complete your work. For the next couple days youâre completely focused on acing each exam. The all nighters have taken a bit of a toll. You didnât need to look in the mirror to know that. But you push through. One more day and you can get all the sleep that youâve missed in the last week. Foggy has been texting you frequently to take a break but you just send replies with goofy emojis with a promise that youâll be free by the time the weekend rolls around.Â
Matt has also been keeping tabs.Â
âBe careful walking home.âÂ
You smile at his concern, but you feel a bit guilty. Due to your exhaustion youâd fallen asleep in the library. Since itâs typically open all night, there was really no attendant to kick you out when the doors close. So now youâre leaving the building at two in the morning to get back to your apartment. Sliding your phone into your pocket, you try not to overthink it. Campus police frequents this area and youâre only maybe eight minutes away from your place. Regardless, you increase your pace, clutching your bag closer. The sound of a branch breaking makes you halt, you pause, turning around.Â
The street is empty.Â
âDamn it.âÂ
It seems youâve become paranoid. With a huff, you turn back around shaking your head. When you look up, the guy standing before you makes you jump. You almost scream, but you recognize his face, letting out a breath as you press your hand to your chest. Itâs just your former tutor.Â
âGeez, Aaron what the hell you scared me.âÂ
âYou shouldnât be walking home so late.âÂ
You laugh.Â
âI know, Matt said that too.âÂ
âMaybe I should walk with you.âÂ
âThatâs okay, Iâm almost there, thank you though.âÂ
You walk around him, but he grabs your hand.Â
âSo youâre too good to get help from me now?âÂ
Your brows knit as you try to pull your hand back.Â
âW-What are you doing, let me go!â
He slides out something from his pocket and you panic when you see the knife. You try to scream, but he grabs you by the mouth, dragging you off to the side of the building. You try to kick, thrash, anything, but heâs strong and you havenât realized how tired you are until you realize that youâre barely even putting up much of a fight. Youâre pushed to the ground and you try to call for help, but he presses the blade to your throat. The tears are prominent.Â
âMake a sound and youâll regret it.âÂ
You canât even get the words out. He has you pinned to the ground and you just sob when he starts unbuckling his belt. You just close your eyes, praying for it to be over quickly. All you hear is a grunt and his weight seems to disappear. You open your eyes just in time to see him swing at someone. The blade slices their arm and you just back into the wall as you continue to cry. Your legs are shaking, you know you should probably make a break for it, but you canât get your body to move. Theyâre fighting, you can see a fist connect. Then another, and another. When a body drops, you jolt and prepare for it.Â
The inevitable.Â
Someone walks into your view and you just start wailing.Â
âP-Please d-donât hurt me..âÂ
You canât get yourself to do anything but beg. They approach cautiously and it takes a moment for you to realize that whoever it is, theyâre holding your backpack.Â
âIâm not going to hurt you, I promise.âÂ
Heâs dressed in dark clothing, and you can see the bruise on his cheek as well as the blood running down from his upper arm. He holds out the bag for you, and you use the wall to shakily get to your feet. You donât immediately reach for it. Your eyes stray to Aaron whoâs unconscious on the floor. Swallowing, you hesitantly take the bag from his hand, pressing it to your chest protectively. He doesnât make a move to get any closer and youâre thankful. You finally seem to get a better look at him. Thereâs a piece of cloth tied over his eyes, right up to the curve of his nose. His hands are also wrapped with what looks like thicker pieces of white cloth, almost like a glove. Itâs strange, but you recognize him.Â
âDaredevil..âÂ
You sort of assumed it was just some rumor the college kids started up, but itâs real.Â
Heâs real.Â
âI have to go, you should too. When youâre home, lock the doors and call the police.âÂ
He turns before you can say anything and as he begins to walk away, you notice the limp in his step. Thereâs still blood dripping from his injury.Â
Heâs in pain.Â
He got hurt protecting you.Â
You have to help, you need to.
âW-Wait!!âÂ
He freezes, and you find yourself doing the same. Youâre still very much terrified, but you canât in good conscience let him hobble back to wherever he lives like that. Especially after he literally saved your life.Â
âI-I live nearby, p-please let me at least clean the wound. If you donât get treatment it could get infected.âÂ
He could probably walk into a hospital, but given his nightly escapades, you have an inkling feeling that the chances of him asking for help are slim since heâll have to explain his injuries.Â
âI can take care of myself.âÂ
He looks like heâs going to leave again, but you take a step.Â
âP-Please.âÂ
Youâre pleading now.Â
Maybe itâs not entirely about just helping him. Maybe thereâs a part of you thatâs terrified at the idea of walking home alone now. You just grip your bag, and he looks like heâs considering it.Â
âOkay.âÂ
Your face brightens and you take a few careful steps away from the back of that building. As you move closer to Aaronâs unconscious form, you frown, kicking him in the balls. He just jerks, but doesnât wake up.Â
âAsshole.âÂ
Daredevil smiles from his spot, and you canât help but crack one too.Â
âS-Sorry.âÂ
He shakes his head.Â
âI think itâs justified given the circumstances.âÂ
âIt is.â You agree.Â
Heaving your bag on your shoulder, you point down the street.Â
âI-Itâs just over there. We should probably hurry, campus security frequents this area.âÂ
You donât want to have to explain why youâre aiding and abetting a vigilante.Â
He nods, following behind at a reasonable distance.Â

âThe woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.â - Robert Frost ******************************************* This famous quote from the great American poet, Robert Frost, always reminds me of the time myself and a friend got lost in the woods of North Central Massachusetts. We missed a fork in the trail and kept walking and walking. If weâd have kept going weâd have ended up in New Hampshire. When we came to a pond that that was one of those ponds with fallen trees on the edge, cattails on one end and spookily reflected the đ moon, I knew we were lost. The woods around us were very dark and deep and we did have miles to go before we slept. It was the late seventies, long before everyone had cell phones. So we had to backtrack to the correct trail and walk and walk until we came to a store with a pay phone. Some friends came and picked us up. I was teased about this mercilessly for the remainder of my time in college. ******************************************* #Quote #RobertFrost #Memories #GettingLost #CollegeYears #Massachusetts #WoodsAtNight #SpookyPond #StoryFromMyPast #NewEnglandForest #AskingForHelp

FĆiskolai Ă©vek 2. / College years 2 đ
Az 1960-as Ă©vekben London az ifjĂșsĂĄgi kultĂșra MekkĂĄjĂĄnak szĂĄmĂtott. A Beatles szĂĄmĂtott a vilĂĄg legnĂ©pszerƱbb zenekarĂĄnak, de hatalmas sikernek örvendett a Rolling Stones, az Animals, Manfred Mann, Tom Jones, valamint Elvis Presley, a Byrds Ă©s Cher is. A televĂziĂłban nagyon nĂ©pszerƱ lett a kĂŒlönbözĆ popmƱsorok sugĂĄrzĂĄsa, Ă©pp akkoriban kezdĆdött a hĂres Top of the Pops cĂmƱ mƱsor is a BBC-n. Freddie mindent megfigyelt Ă©s magĂĄba szĂvott, minden olyan elemet âellopottâ a kĂŒlönbözĆ dalokbĂłl, filmekbĆl Ă©s divatbĂłl, amelyek akkoriban megfogtĂĄk Ćt.
Egy-kĂ©t Ă©vvel felettem jĂĄrt a fĆiskolĂĄn Ă©s a kollĂ©giumban a szomszĂ©d szobĂĄban lakott.
KonzervatĂvnak tƱnt, Ă©s akkoriban eszembe sem jutott a szexualitĂĄsĂĄt firtatni. EgyĂĄltalĂĄn nem volt felvĂĄgĂłs. HatĂĄrozottan megvolt benne a szerĂ©nysĂ©g. Nem igazĂĄn tƱnt ki. Ennek ellenĂ©re ösztönösen tehetsĂ©ges elĆadĂłmƱvĂ©sz volt Ă©s elkĂ©pesztĆ gyorsasĂĄggal fejlĆdött a szemĂ©lyisĂ©ge.â â mesĂ©lte Staffel.

In the 1960s, London was a Mecca for youth culture. The Beatles were considered the most popular band in the world, but the Rolling Stones, Animals, Manfred Mann, Tom Jones, and Elvis Presley, Byrds and Cher also enjoyed huge success. Broadcasting of various pop shows became very popular on television, and the famous Top of the Pops show on the BBC began at that time. Freddie watched and absorbed everything, "stealing" all the elements of the songs, movies and fashion that had captured his at the time.
While Freddie spent almost all his time gathering interest and inspiration for music, sometime between 1967 and 1968, college principal James Drew visited him. The director wanted to drop his from the fashion design department because of the many hours he missed, but Freddie convinced his to go over to the graphic design department. In his new faculty, he met associates who, like him, were also enthusiastic about music, including Chris Smith, who has been known for a long time, and Nigel Forest and Tim Staffel. A former schoolmate, Jerry Hibbert, recalls this period: âFreddie stood out from the rest of the students except he was very love of singing. A year or two above me, he was in college and lived in a dorm next door. He was a very good friend of Tim Staffel, with whom he sang a lot.".
âMy first impression of Freddie was that he was quite respectful of tradition. He seemed to be conservative, and at that time I didn't even think about asking about his sexuality. He had no cold cuts at all. There was definitely modesty in it. It didn't really stand out. Nevertheless, he was an instinctively talented performer, and his personality developed at an incredible speed.â - said Staffel. Tim Staffel was a very good musician who already had his own band at that time. Staffel founded the ensemble 1984 in 1964, and was later joined by a Feltham guitarist named Brian May.

One day
One day Iâll be able to read our texts and not cry.
One day Iâll be able to see an old photo of us and not remember.
One day Iâll forget what it was like to fall asleep in your arms, to hold your hand while you slept.
And one day Iâll come back to write this poem...
