Junior Year: Your Roadmap to College Preparation
Higher education is a pivotal stage in a student's life, and preparing early can set the foundation for success. While many students wait until senior year to focus on college admissions, starting in junior year provides more time to strengthen academic performance, build extracurricular profiles, and create an effective resume for college applications. This blog highlights actionable steps to maximize your junior year and ensure you’re well-prepared for college.
How to Use Your Junior Year for College Preparation
Are you a junior-year student thinking about college? Start your preparation now to stay ahead. Here are some effective strategies to make your junior year count:
Tumblr media
1. Focus on Academic Excellence
Colleges prioritize students with strong GPAs. Your junior year is critical for maintaining or improving your grades. A high GPA can also qualify you for merit-based scholarships, reducing your college expenses. Strong academics not only enhance your transcript but also play a key role in creating an effective resume for college applications.
2. Engage in Extracurricular Activities
Well-rounded students stand out in college applications. Use your junior year to participate in extracurriculars that align with your interests, such as sports, music, drama, or community service. These activities not only strengthen your application but also provide valuable experiences to showcase on an effective resume that highlights leadership and teamwork skills.
3. Research Colleges Early
Researching colleges is time-consuming, so begin early in your junior year. Identify institutions that match your academic and personal preferences, considering factors like tuition costs, programs offered, campus culture, and location. Use tools like Top5 Colleges to compare financial aid options and ensure your choices align with your budget. This proactive approach will help you craft a more targeted and effective resume tailored to the colleges you're interested in.
4. Prepare for Standardized Tests
Standardized test scores, such as the SAT or ACT, are often required for college applications. Start preparing in your junior year to identify your strengths and improve weak areas. Highlighting strong test scores on an effective resume can further demonstrate your academic abilities. If you’re unsure which test suits you best, explore our blog, "SAT vs. ACT: Tips for Choosing the Right Test."
5. Attend College Presentations and Campus Tours
Colleges frequently host presentations and campus tours to provide insights into their programs and student life. Attend these events to gain a deeper understanding of your options and connect with admissions representatives. For more details, read our blog, "5 Importance of Attending College Admissions Presentations." Including these experiences in your effective resume shows proactive college exploration.
6. Build Strong Relationships with Teachers
Letters of recommendation are key components of your application. Start building meaningful connections with teachers and mentors during your junior year. A thoughtful recommendation can significantly enhance your application, and a well-documented effective resume helps teachers craft a stronger letter highlighting your achievements.
7. Develop Time Management Skills
Balancing academics, extracurriculars, and personal commitments requires strong time management. Use your junior year to practice these skills by setting priorities, tracking deadlines, and avoiding procrastination. These skills will not only help you succeed but can also be a valuable addition to your effective resume under personal strengths.
8. Participate in Summer College Programs
Many colleges offer summer programs for high school students. These programs provide firsthand experience with college-level academics and campus life. Some even offer college credits, making them an excellent addition to your effective resume while helping you explore potential majors.
Conclusion
Junior year is the perfect time to start preparing for college. By focusing on academics, participating in extracurriculars, researching colleges, preparing for standardized tests, and building key relationships, you’ll reduce stress and set yourself up for success. Each step you take contributes to creating an effective resume that showcases your readiness for college.
Don’t wait until senior year—start now to make the most of this critical time. For more guidance, visit our blog library at Top5 Colleges to explore topics on financial aid, university selection, and more.

Preparing the Launchpad
Urban Ventures expands College & Career opportunities through new partnerships and programs for high school students
Tumblr media
A group of high school students spills out of an Urban Ventures van. “Welcome,” a friendly voice greets, “we’re glad you’re here.” The students, gathered from Washburn High School, are on a college visit at Augsburg University. “I’ll show you around,” the tour guide invites, “Hopefully, you can see yourself here.” Touring colleges is just one of the initiatives of the recently expanded College & Career Center at Urban Ventures. As UV continues strengthening cradle-to-career services for local students, the past year brought an enhanced focus on  teenagers  about to finish high school.
The work began by forming greater partnerships with nearby high schools. “The schools have a lot of people who say they want to partner,” says Jason Thompson, the College and Career Center director. “But usually that means they want the school to fit into what they’re already doing. Urban Ventures was able to come in and say, ‘We opened this center for you. What do you need? How can we support what you’re doing?”
The response confirmed the need in the under- resourced schools. Jason continues, “The guidance counselors in our nearby high schools are amazing, but I was surprised to learn there are only two or three counselors for 1,600 students. They’d say, ‘The main thing the kids need is more people caring about their future.’”
Tumblr media
All of the nearest high schools now have a “UV Club.” Each month, Jason and other Urban Ventures staff members come to teach a career-centered class. Students explore college and trade school options, take part in mock job interviews, get feedback on building and writing a good resume, and receive support in applying for financial aid.
The UV Club is also a great chance to network. Jason explains, “When a kid says they want to go into business, I tell them, ‘Urban Ventures is connected to many major corporations in town, I can get you a meeting to learn from one of their executives.’ Or if they are interested in Finance, we can connect them with our financial firm partners. They’re learning it’s not just what you know but who you know. Once that networking light bulb clicks on, the students start asking to set up meetings or come by our office to figure out the next steps.”
Students are also invited to learn about other Urban Ventures programs. Through the College and Career Center, students have begun participating in other programs like music and athletics. Jason recounts a recent tour of the Urban Ventures campus, “The teachers thought there would be maybe ten kids. Another forty signed up to come along. It went from a small group to needing a bus.”
Tumblr media
With partnerships in place at five nearby high schools, and an existing network of universities and businesses to work with, the Urban Ventures College and Career Center is creating a strong launchpad for students considering their future after high school.
“Our goal is for every high school student in Urban Ventures programs to have a post-secondary education plan and to support them in pursuing that plan. But not just UV kids, Our hope is that we can help hundreds of other students not just dream about college, but provide the plan and support they need to get there.”

Dual Credits for High Schoolers is a worthwhile investment
With student loan debt relief looking less likely to happen getting students dual credits while in high is a great way to lower college costs.
As the cost of higher education continues to rise, many students and families are left with the burden of high levels of student debt. In the United States, the average student loan debt for graduates in 2021 was $38,792, and this number is only increasing. However, one potential solution to this problem may lie in expanding Dual Credit Programs for High School Students. Dual Credit Programs are…

mdni cause this is wild it's 3am don't hold me to this
Tumblr media
College Ellie who is a hyper ass girl when it comes to sex!! Like obviously she’s going for rounds cause it’s with another girl but i think she would be so overstimulating in bed and almost in a goofy way. If she’s the bottom, she’ll be squealing and so close to tapping out forreal but just can't because it hurts so good. She is wayy too obsessed with how your tongue feels on her clit, circling around the bud and (not successfully) trying to keep up with the girl who is squeezing your face almost suffocatingly with her freckled thighs. She’s already overstimulated, why tf does she need more? You want to ask her, but it’s hard with her pussy all in your face. If you even try to talk, it’ll be muffled and she will get riled up all over again. Scissoring is dangerous territory too cause it can apply to either bottom or top Ellie, when she’s bottom she is just whining and somehow doing half the work just by bumping up into you after being the one who begged to get fucked. If she’s the one who is supposed to be in charge it’s even worse because then she’s whispering filthy shit in your ear that makes you want to cum. (but you should be holding out, cause she isn’t gonna stop if you do cum) “This pussy loves me so much, doesn’t it?” Yes, Ellie. It does, even though you’re fucking insane. “Wanna cum inside you so bad..want me to cum in you?” No, Ellie, you can’t do that. You’re grinding coochies. Maybe it’s cause she’s a rugby player that she has so much stamina to go the extra rounds. However, nothing compares to when she’s slinging strap, cause oh lord you’re so done for. She goes wild. She won’t stop if you cum once. In fact, she’ll just pull out soooo very slowly to tease you then ram back into your hole over and over and over again. If you cum a second time and aren’t too wrecked, she’ll just flip you onto your stomach and fuck you again. The cycle continues. If you need a break, sure. She can grant you one. But best believe you will be fucking all night with college Ellie.

hii could I request some rodger x reader..
QUITE THE CHARMER
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Rodger x reader
Relationship: romantic
Warning: none
Type: headcanons + drabble
Tumblr media
"Y/n?" Toodles stands behind you, a curious look on her face as you turn around to face her. It wasn't unusual for her to ask you questions out of the blue, especially when the team was able to relax for a bit after another run, considering she was always such a curious little thing. And, you never minded answering. "Why does Rodger call you his sweetheart?
To say you were shocked was an understatement
Sweetheart?
Sure, you've heard him throw the word around before
But, usually he kept that sort of nickname saved for when you two were alone
And, most of the time, you had always assumed it was just something having to do with his overall persona
Referring to you as sweetheart in front of others, though?
That was new
He was always the type to be gentle with you, and maybe even a little protective
He cared for the others, there was no doubt about that, but he seemed to be more cautious when you or toodles were teamed with him
An airhorn hidden in his pocket, purposely messing up during an extraction, keeping extra tapes in case dandy were to sale aid
All things he did in case you two were in trouble
In full honesty, he knew he wouldn't forgive himself if you were to get hurt during a run
Along with him putting himself at risk for your safety, he usually preferred you to hide during rounds
Even if you weren't always so fond of it
He knew you wanted to help at times, but he'd sleep better at night knowing that you were safe and sound
"Alright... you two stay here. I'd rather you hide them lose another one of those hearts." He whispered, his voice barely audible to anyone besides you and toodles as he gently takes her out of his arms and into yours. And, the second she's handed over, her arms quickly wrap around your neck, holding onto tighter then you've ever felt before.
You open your mouth to speak, attempting to protest against what felt like another one of his commands. But, you didn't get far before he had already begun shushing you. "Don't start with me now."
"Toodles?" He starts once more, turning his gaze from you and onto the little girl clinging to you. It almost amazes you. The way his tone went from something akin to disapproval and worry, to something much more softer. "I need you to be brave, alright? Be a big girl and keep them safe for me."
"Got it, rodger!" She says, a little two loudly then what you and rodger were comfortable with. Quickly, rodger turned around, using his one eye to scan around the area. And, once taking notice of the lack of footsteps coming their way, shifted his gaze back over to the both of you.
"Thank you, toodles. Remember, shh..." her head nods in reply to what rodger had said, holding up a finger to her mouth as she copies the same shushing sound he had made.
He wasn't made to distract, and the heavy breathing that seemed to attract every twisted in the area was proof of that, yet..
At the same time
He couldn't help but jump into action
He knew how risky it was, and at most times he'd prefer to think of it logically
He was the logical person of the group, he was a detective
But, he felt almost embarrassed at how many times situations he's out himself in just to insure your safety
Now, if you weren't in danger, and he was able to think straight before reacting, he usually went with the more refined ways to insure your safety
Most of the time
If a twisted was headed your way, and hadn't noticed you yet, then he'd prefer to throw something in the opposite direction and away from you
But on those special occasions where he felt there was little to no time, he wouldn't hesitate before throwing himself in front of you
If he was able to reach you, that is

Finally, after some missions through time, Dan has managed to be approved as "Officially Reformed", and only with some supervision from Clockwork and Danny, will he be free to return to live in the human world.
So with the help of Clockwor, Tecnus and Tuker, an identity was created for him as a Young Adult, who after a few years of traveling around the world, returns to the United States to begin his University studies.
Dante Jackson Nightingale is a Young Adult recently enrolled in Gotham University to study Business and Finance with some elective classes in Engineering, being the place chosen for the high educational level as well as the level of ecto of the city… but the Phantom of the future has other hidden intentions.
During his 10 years of rampant destruction, Dan had a period of "calm", the reason, the strange relationship he developed with Batman, a relationship that was about to bring the angry spirit back to sanity by focusing his obsession on something else…
But it all ended when a surviving and better-funded group of GIW caught Red Hood to experiment on him, so the Batfam immediately went looking for him, and at first the rescue everything went according to plan, but it was until the end where everything went off the rails with the appearance of the Joker… it was never known how it all ended with the explosion of the bat, but it ended up costing the lives of the Bat and the Clown, and some permanent damage to some of the Batkids.
The death of the Knight of Gotham City ended up reviving and fanning the flames of anger and destruction within Dan, which would cause a destruction greater than anything known before.
So, in this new reality, Dan plans to continue with his original intentions with the bat, this time proving that he was a worthy partner for the Dark Knight.
