“Ah...” The moment Theodore noticed that he wasn’t as alone as he’d thought, he was quick to snap his fingers to extinguish the little flame flickering before him. Fear and more than just a tinge of panic twisted in his gut. Had he been seen? Oh god, please tell him no. He didn’t want to move again. He’d just settled in here!

“Do...do you need to use my lighter too?”

A lighter? Why did he-- no one would believe that!

"Sou-chan!" Look who's immediately slung his arms around Sousuke. One punchy boyo that's finally allowed to go wherever he wants again. Though to be fair, coming home with a broken arm after a fight is enough reason to be grounded until it heals. "I missed ya..." And now there's Hinata-brand snuggles and clinginess. Enjoy, Sousuke.~

“Hinata…!” Arms wrap tight around the younger male, fingers curling into the back of Hinata’s clothes as Sousuke pulls him in even closer. There’s a wide smile on the blond’s face, bright with warmth and affection and relief to see Hinata again, to see that he’s all right.

“God– I missed you too,” Sousuke laughs softly, nuzzling into Hinata’s neck, lips pressing against his skin in a gentle little kiss. “I-I really, really missed you… Are you okay now? Does anything hurt?”

"Was that a fire spell?" Cue one dumbass walking up to a total stranger with a gleam in his eye. If Caelum had a tail, it'd definitely be wagging up a storm right now. "What technique do you use? Looks totally different from how I learned... Who even taught ya?" [I'm not sorry for this stupid child]

“Eh?” He was so caught off guard by the other man’s sudden approach that he had no time to panic from being seen like he otherwise would have, instead only able to blink in surprise and confusion. 

( Turned out there’s no real need to panic, either, so Theodore supposed it all worked out...somewhat well enough )

“I, uh...it’s a technique I taught myself?” The wizard wasn’t sure why, exactly, he phrased it as a question. Maybe he was still startled by the stranger-- and, really, what kind of person walked up to someone while they were doing fire magic? “I’ve never had a teacher, so-- all that I know are things I’ve read in books or experimented with on my own.” A pause. “You...you know magic?”

“It’s not that bad.” Hinata, plz stop fighting everyone...

“I don’t care what you think, just sit still and let me help.” He doesn’t mean to sound so sharp and tense, but he can’t help it. He’s worried. Worried and scared. What if his ( simple, stupid ) first aid-kit isn’t enough? What if Hinata needs to go to the hospital? …He should go to the hospital. Sousuke will take him there the moment he’s done cleaning and dressing his wounds, hands gently wrapping gauze around one of Hinata’s arms.

It��it doesn’t look so bad now, but Sousuke knows more than anyone that looks can be fatally deceiving ( and maybe he’s projecting, maybe he’s so traumatized by his own past experiences that he’s overreacting entirely, but–).

“I-I’m almost done, okay…?” His tone is gentler now, a soft and reassuring smile on his face that he hopes comes across in his voice as well, and he gently strokes Hinata’s cheek. “Just be patient with me?”

“Are you… trying to flirt with me?” [me throw an old meme at u so moana can play w/vasto again? neverrrr... -awkward chuckle-]

“I might be,” Vasto answered, lips quirking into a smirk. There was a beat of silence, before his expression turned just a tad hesitant and uncertain ( as well as mildly embarrassed ). “Was, uh...was that not...obvious?”

“That looks infected.” [-pushes ace @ you-]

“Infe…?” He trails off, blinking in momentary confusion, before his gaze slowly drifts down towards his arm and the– …oh. Oh. Oh no. It must’ve happened when he’d been experimenting with his fire magic. The spell had exploded without his control and with the resulting burns and scorches and trying to put out the fire on his clothes as well as the room, he must’ve missed it, too frazzled to check himself more carefully for injuries.

( It did explain the pain, though, and the chills rippling down his spine, but he’d been too pissed off with himself and his failure to give it any more than a passing thought )

“Ah…” It’s red, his skin swollen around the edges of the wound, and it feels strangely, uncomfortably, warm. Theodore swallows and looks away from it, suddenly nauseous. 

“…It’s fine. I’ll take care of it later.”

“Can’t sleep. Won’t sleep. Never sleep. Can’t make me sleep. ...She’ll get me.” Hinata's shaking like a leaf... poor kid.

It breaks Sousuke’s heart to see Hinata like this and he reaches out before he can stop himself, before he can consider whether it’s a good idea or not, whether Hinata wants to be touched or not. But he’s gentle, slow, doesn’t want to terrify the younger man any further, as he wraps his arms around Hinata and ( still oh so gently ) pulls him close.

“It’s okay,” the blond murmurs, trying to keep his voice soft and smooth and steady. One hand settles at the back of Hinata’s head, fingers slowly brushing through his hair in an attempt to soothe the younger man.

“It’s okay, Hinata. She won’t get you.” He doesn’t know who ‘she’ is, but considering the state Hinata’s in... Gods. Maybe in the morning, when he’s calmer, or maybe a few days from now, Sousuke will try to ask. But not now.

“She won’t. I won’t let her. Just...just breathe with me, okay? Slow, deep, breaths... That’s it, you got this. It’s okay, Hinata. It’s okay.”
