Beyond Exploitation: A Jamesonian Critique and the Path to Eco-Socialism
Fredric Jameson, a prominent Marxist theorist, offers a profound critique of contemporary society through his analyses of culture, politics, and economics. By drawing on his theories, we can explore the interconnectivity and unsustainability of colonialism, nationalism, imperialism, and capitalism, and then propose a sustainable alternative system. Interconnectivity and…

2015: The Puzzle of Rural Land Rights in PRC
Land and land rights in China have always been a mind-bending topic for me. I can’t claim to be Red or Expert (又红又专), but here below are some of my mind-droppings as I try to understand this a bit better. Chinese peasants got ownership of the land they worked after 1949 partly thanks to the Communist Party’s rural work teams that killed and encouraged peasants to participate in the killing of…

This is the sort of interaction the Open Art Guild is meant to empower. Collective ownership means everyone wins.
I'm finding legal and technical references to build a second draft, I'll have more news soon.
Apparently, my decision to be silly and make fanart of someone's writing (because I genuinely enjoy the story the person is writing and I was struck with inspiration upon reading a particular scene) has benevolent and wildly unforeseen consequences.
I apparently gained a bit of control of the canon because said writer really loved the art and decided what I drew/draw is canon.
2. Writer put said artwork into the document of his story right below the scene, so now it's IN the story where people who read the story will see it (with a link to me)
3. He sent the artwork to all his friends and people he knows because he was so excited
Wholesome interaction and I watched him do all that in real time, good stuff. However...there are two more consequences I was notified of today...nearly a full week after I gave the artwork.
Seeing the artwork caused his friends to become interested in reading and hearing about his story, which means more people are reading what he's writing and giving him critique on the story (which he actively asks for).
Apparently, upon seeing the art, his writer friends got a sudden second wind to pick back up writing they'd abandoned for a few months. Because, I quote, "seeing that someone enjoyed {his} writing enough to take the time to make art of it gave them the motivation that maybe THEY can write something that will inspire someone to also create something." I have accidentally caused a writing frenzy among his writer friends and my silly idea to make art for someone has had a butterfly effect for people who I don't even know.
Uhh...I'm pretty sure there's a moral here but I am tired and have a great deal of emotions about this.

Exploring the Concept of Digital Socialism: Advancements, Possibilities, and Intersection with AI, Cybersecurity and Data Protection
Digital socialism is a concept that has gained attention in recent years, as advancements in technology and the internet have opened up new possibilities for promoting greater economic equality, democratic participation, and collective ownership in society. Ya know, coming across posts like this is really an experience of "you're so close to the answer yet so far away."
Like, how detached from reality are you that you can actually wonder this? It's like the second someone who's in the working class actually breaks the mold and begins to earn probably still not even half of what their labor earns for their employer, all of sudden these sorts of bad unintentional-actors decide it's time for them to voted off the island.
It's even worse when they (appropriately) get dragged in the notes and this is their reply:
"Hmm actually I was just speculating this whole time haha devils advocate ecks dee 🤓"
These are the same people who will be like "the working class needs more affordable housing!" and think the solution is more rent-serfdom to landlords but they just aren't charging as much.
#Also I'm assuming op is a lib since they seem to balking at gun ownership#Like bro how do you think the working class ever got any sort of collective comeuppance?#They shot at the ruling and wealthy class#No member of the landed elite respects or fears an unarmed peasent

It arguably takes both, but a village is no subtitute for two loving parents. No one is going to be as personally invested in a child as the child's own parents. Communal management leads to communal NEGLECT; it's "somebody else's problem".
Communal responsibility is for stuff like "throw your trash away in the public cans, rather than tossing it on the ground". It's PERSONAL responsibility for how one behaves in communal spaces.
That's entirely different from communally managing communal spaces. You can't count on members of the public cleaning up a mess that someone else made.
So you shouldn't count on members of the public raising a child that someone else made.
I don't care what Hitlery Clinton says ...
... it doesn't take a village to raise a child ...
... just 2 loving parents ...

Apas-95 doing posts about how they are right about what it takes to train with firearms and getting workers military training while having never shot a gun in their life is really funny. What's kind of less funny is that they openly encourage people to commit felonies that would land any leftist training group in jail for 20+ years and bar them from ever handling firearms again. If they aren't an idiot they're a cop.
(tags are important I just wrote too much there and don't want to copy it here)
#Saying that your leftist training group should pool their money to buy arms and store them as a collective#is insanely illegal and the perfect way to speedrun going to jail#Also most states have really strong anti militia laws that criminalize training as a group#like theyre so strong milsim airsoft groups have gotten charged#Which is why all public facing leftist Gun Posting Does Not Involve That Because It Is Illegal#People aren't posting battle drills bc they love individual gun ownership and the idea of shooting someone trying to steal their TV#it's because it is incriminating and will get them watched by feds#Apas' whole post is just encouragement to get your crew killed by cops or arrested#My other favorite post by them is when they were Authoritatively talking about how easy guerilla warfare against drones is#And they said all you have to do to take military drones offline was to shoot their radio tower#And uh. Pretty much all mil drones are either autonomously controlled within units by radios carried individually or satellites#It is kind of concerning to see people just make shit up to sound smart about fairly serious topics like that just for clout#it's nothing if not an indication that someone will happily lie to make themselves seem more competent at the expense of their comrades

Some more Steward doodles
#keese draws#oc art#oc#ocs#she has hashtag issues#longgggg story short she and lace's parents died when they were kids and due to stuff and things the two had to basically raise themselves#they both have heaps of issues both related and unrelated to all of this but they're still very close#... well they used to be. lol. lmao.#oh also to be clear the circles on her eyes aren't like makeup or anything theyre actual metal attached to her eyes#thats not why shes emo abt them tho thats a very normal think for her family its in fact because it relates to family stuff#usually in her family on your 14th birthday you get a shape cut out on your eye disks by your parents#which she wasnt able to do because of the whole dead parent thing#and similat traditions are pretty common in families with similar traits so she does get questions abt it#so its hard for her not to think abt it a lot#lace doesn't have that specific issue due to being adopted but she does have her own collection of issues due to being adopted#she especially feels guilty for having inhereted a family heirloom and often feels like hadn't earned it or deserved it#they gave her it both as a way of letting her know that shes family and also because she was super interesting in learning magic as a kid#well to say they gave it to her is a bit of an overstatement since she was a child at the time but they let her have it most of the time#and fully planned on properly handing it down to her once she was older#but that never got to happen so lace got full time ownership of it prematurely#steward is about 3 years older than lace btw and steward was abt 12 and lace 9 when their parents died#and when I say their parents died I also mean that their whole home town was basically destroyed and a bunch of ppl died#so they didn't have anywhere to go after all of that and they just sorta wandered until reaching adulthood#anyways I am dead tired gn

i know tumblr has lots of very real issues with it but if it does actually die i will be so sad. no other website or social media app does the fandom experience quite like tumblr for me. i would rather have a flawed tumblr over no tumblr at all
#if staff was just honest and said that things were bad but heres what we can do to help id be like cool#but im so scared theyre just going to announce its closing down one day#i feel like they should go for some kind of collective ownership where users contribute financially in order to decide how the site is ran#but idk shit about business or social media so that probably wouldnt work#anyways

The Untapped Benefits of DVD and Blu-ray Media in the Streaming Era
Introduction: In an era where streaming dominates the way we consume media, it's easy to overlook the enduring benefits of physical media like DVDs and Blu-rays. While streaming services offer convenience and on-demand access to a vast library of content, there are several advantages to owning DVD and Blu-ray collections that are worth considering. In this article, we will explore the unique benefits that these fiscal media formats still offer in the age of streaming.
Seamless Access: One major advantage of owning DVDs and Blu-rays is that they provide seamless access to content without the need for a stable internet connection. While streaming platforms depend on a reliable internet connection, physical media ensures that you can watch movies and TV shows anytime, anywhere, even in remote or low-connectivity areas.
Superior Quality: Although streaming services have made significant strides in improving their video and audio quality, there is still a noticeable difference when compared to Blu-ray. Blu-ray discs offer uncompressed audio and pristine high-definition video quality, providing a true cinematic experience that streaming platforms struggle to replicate. For movie enthusiasts who appreciate superior visual and audio quality, physical media is the way to go.
Preservation and Collectability: DVDs and Blu-rays allow movie fans to build an impressive collection of their favorite films and TV shows. Physical media provides a sense of ownership and allows for displaying and showcasing one's collection. Furthermore, DVDs and Blu-rays often come with exclusive bonus content such as behind-the-scenes footage, director's commentaries, and deleted scenes, enhancing the overall viewer experience.
Reliability and Longevity: Streaming platforms occasionally remove titles from their catalogs due to licensing agreements, leaving viewers disappointed when their favorite shows or movies suddenly become inaccessible. With DVDs and Blu-rays, there are no concerns regarding titles disappearing suddenly. Owners can watch their favorite movies and TV shows at their leisure, without any interruptions, and can share them with friends and family without limitations.
Enhanced Extras and Special Editions: Physical media often brings with it a range of extra features and special editions that streaming platforms may not offer. Collectors and film enthusiasts appreciate the extra content, which can include documentaries, interviews, and visual enhancements. Special editions with limited-edition packaging or added memorabilia can also enhance the overall viewing experience and make physical media more appealing to fans.
Conclusion: While streaming services have revolutionized the way we consume media, the benefits of owning DVD and Blu-ray collections should not be overlooked. Seamless accessibility, superior quality, physical ownership, and enhanced extras are just a few of the advantages that physical media has to offer. For avid movie lovers, investing in DVDs and Blu-rays ensures that a rich and diverse collection is always at their fingertips, irrespective of streaming trends or licensing agreements. So, next time you consider binge-watching your favorite show or diving into a movie marathon, remember the enduring benefits that DVDs and Blu-rays can provide in the streaming era.

three stories that I was into a few years ago have gotten sequels lately and, though I only know their premises, I can tell it’s such a drop in quality + moving in the opposite direction of what I enjoyed about them in the first place. it’s an obviously biassed feeling but it’s disconcerting that so much of media released these days seems to be defanged, feel-good fluff. it’s all just characters arcing into ‘healthy’, well-adjusted people as if that is the only story worth telling/the ‘correct’ way to tell stories.
#where’s that post that’s a collection of screencaps#of people arguing that they have ownership over fictional characters bc they want what’s ‘best’ for them#it feels like stories these days are catered specifically to that crowd#log.

It's not corporate greed, it's capitalism. You could put the kindest most altruistic person in the position of CEO and their job and the shareholders would still necessitate that they continue doing capitalism.
The problem isn't individual emotional experiences or individual morality.
#capitalism#the only good move for a ceo is to hand collective ownership over to the workers#and thats a “bad” business decision based on the job description!
