Piercing
Just on sunset a female Australasian darter looks up from preening after her final successful fishing session for the day at Lake Macquarie in NSW. These birds are so angular it is difficult to get an interesting composition. This shot captures what these birds do under water. One can imagine this is the last thing a fish sees as the long neck launches that bill, piercing it as a spear fisher would

Yours Truly // Demo is in Development!!
Disclaimer: This is not a Yandere VN, just to be clear. One dare was all it took. A rumored haunted house which something is said to reside in. Stupid friends. It was fine, you weren’t going to get hurt. At least you hoped you wouldn’t.
First impressions.. Wait, it’s haunted right? This is a ghost right? Why are there candles by a warm bath and a meal on the table?
Yours Truly is a comedy-romance visual novel featuring a hopeless romantic ghost, Ansel. All he really wants is a chance at a happy ending.
Game Age Rating: 16+ for mild language, use of alcohol, and crude and suggestive humor, blood, light horror, and, some disturbing themes.
Hey there! 💜 We're two people who handle the studio. Kou(they/them) and Kame(she/her). I'm Kou, I handle the tumblr for the studio.

my favourite chunkloada dialogue is from in bruges. this is how i want to write dialogue, hell this is how i WISH i wrote dialogue. i like when it sounds natural and kind of awkward sometimes spoilers for in bruges but i dont think anyone gives a shit about this movie
It's like a fairytale, isn't it, that place?
Yeah.
With the churches and that. They're Gothic.
Yeah.
Is it Gothic? - Yeah. So he's having a really nice time?
Well, I'm having a really nice time. I'm not sure if it's really his cup of tea.
What?
You know, I'm not sure if it's really his thing.
What do you mean, 'It's not really his thing'? What's that supposed to mean, 'It's not really his thing'? What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
Nothing, Harry.
It's a fairytale fucking town, isn't it? How can a fairytale town not be somebody's fucking thing? How can all those canals and bridges and cobbled streets and those churches, all that beautiful fucking fairytale stuff, how can that not be somebody's fucking thing, eh?
What I think I meant to say was:
Is the swan still there? - Yeah, the swan's… How can fucking swans not fucking be somebody's fucking thing, eh? How can that be?
What I think I meant to say was, when he first arrived, he wasn't quite sure about it. You know, there's that big, dual carriageway when you get off the train? It mightn't have been here when you were here last, Harry. Well, as soon as he got into, like, the old town proper, and he saw the canals and the bridges and, you know, the swans and that, well, he just fucking loved it then. Couldn't get enough of it, the medieval part of town. It was just that initial, dual carriageway thing sort of put him off for a second.
Don't know if I remember a dual carriageway.
Must be recent.
Hasn't spoilt it, has it?
No, no, no, it's just that initial thing. And you know what? As we were walking through the streets, there was this sort of freezing fog hanging over everything, and it made it look almost like a fairytale or something. And he turned to me, do you know what he said?
What'd he say?
He said, 'Ken, I know I'm awake, but I feel like I'm in a dream.'
Yeah? He said that?
Yeah.
Meaning, like, in a good dream?
Yeah. Of course, like in a good dream.
Oh, good. I'm glad he likes it there. I'm glad we were able to give him something. Something good and happy. Because he wasn't a bad kid, was he?
Huh?
He wasn't a bad kid, was he? Listen, take down this address. Raamstraat 17. That's 'Raam,' like 'Ram,' but with an extra 'a:'
Raamstraat 17.
You got that?
Yes, Raamstraat 17.
Good. There'll be a man there tomorrow morning at 9::00, his name's Yuri.
Yuri. - He'll give you the gun. Ring me on the public phone at Jimmy Driscoll's about 3:00 or 4:00 tomorrow, after it's done.
After what's done?
Are you being thick?
No. - Listen, I like Ray. He was a good bloke, but when it all comes down to it, you know, he blew the head off a little fucking kid. And you brought him in, Ken. So if the buck don't stop with him, where does it stop? Ken? If the buck don't stop with him, where does it stop?
It stops with me, Harry. That's an easy one.
Look, don't get shirty, Ken. Listen, I'm just glad that I was able… to do something for the boy before he went.
Do what for the boy?
You know, have him get to see Bruges. I'd like to go to see Bruges again before I die. What was it he said again about: Yeah, 'It's like a dream:'
'I know I'm awake, but I feel like I'm in a dream.'
Yeah.
Give me a call when he's dead.
the scene where ken goes to shoot ray is also great, and the scene directly after on the playground. i love how the characters in this movie speak if you ignore the abhorrent terrible things ray says because unfortunately hes not a good person 👍 its another one of those movies that make u reconsider the concepts of good and evil, id rewatch it again if i didnt have to sit through half the horseshit that spills outta his mouth thank god i had a colin farrell phase or i never would have watched this movie... same with the lobster and the killing of a sacred deer, which ALSO led me to discovering yorgos lanthimos. but thats another thing to get into entirely

Things Colin “Trigger” Ball has canonically done:
- Carried Del up to the top deck of a moving bus to smoke, when he believed he was paralysed.  - Stayed with Del when the Driscoll Brothers came for him, and Mickey and Jevon ran, despite being scared himself. Even attempted to answer them back when they told him to leave, and only left when Del asked him to.  - Expressed sympathy for Marlene when she got her boob job, thinking they might be too heavy for her.  - Forgave Roy Slater immediately for having sent him to a young offenders home for eighteen months on false charges.  - Almost cried at Grandad Trotter’s funeral, though he was not his own family.  - Told Denzil that his dream girl was very plain, with a scar on her chin from where she had a wart removed.  - Talked to pigeons.  - Has almost never reacted to being insulted, himself, but gave Rodney the death stare to end all death stares when he insulted his aunt.  - Tried to invent a product worth millions, just so he could give all those millions to Del. The fact that none of his inventions would have made any money is besides the point, he was willing to INVENT SOMETHING AND GIVE ALL THE FRUITS OF HIS LABOURS TO DEL, JUST SO HE COULD BE A MILLIONAIRE AGAIN.

vance's family pls the people need to know
(This got way to long so putting the post under a cut.)
Alright! Brief introductory for the people on the boy himself - Vance was created partly because there’s this crossover problem @randomestfandoms-ocs had of escorts for the Gilmore Girls episode Presenting Lorelei Gilmore, especially when we threw in my oc Regina Gilmore. Leading into that, he’s Regina first (and only) boyfriend and they have a mutual break up at an undetermined point between season 2 & the start of the Yale years. He’s a chaotic disaster bisexual with a heart of gold underneath a bit of an asshole exterior. Colin ship post break up with Regina. FC is Ed Westwick.
Tumblr media
Rupert Hawthorn - Vance’s father, Graduated from Yale & works with Richard at Gehrman-Driscoll Insurance Corporation at the start of the series. FC Tom Cavanagh.
Tumblr media
Alice Hawthorn - Vance’s step-mother and Rupert’s Wife, moved to Hartford from London with her family as a teenager and never lost the accent. Met Rupert at a Harvard-Yale football game, but doesn’t marry him until Vance was five. FC Olivia Coleman.
Clemency Campbell - Vance’s biological mother. (Isn’t in the picture - long story.) (FC Helena Boham Carter)

Ink
Ink is a goddamn gut-wrenching play based on the true story of the British newspaper The Sun. It pulls no punches, dramatizes only as much as it has to, and while I’m no historian, and I can’t say it’s accurate to what happened in the years of 1969 and 1970, it certainly feels real. It feels like a true story, telling the audience the who, the what, the when, the where, and leaving behind the why for people to ponder and question. It is absolutely amazing. The fast pace of the narrative matches the fast pace of the story of a daily newspaper that changed the way news was told. The harsh lighting challenged the original, the British accents left behind the traditional, and the whole set piece of tables and typewriters brought it all together.
Behind the set is a semicircle of screens that project whatever it needs to. For a story about such a visual and literary medium, it works amazingly with what it is given. Printing the paper leads with streams of front pages from the press. Frontline news that is focused upon is portrayed in the background, looming over each of the characters as they overcome the barrier in their path. It is a constant reminder of the real life paper that exists in the world.
The acting is beautiful. Each line is perfectly on point and on time, utilizing verbal spars, quick back and forth that take time and effort to perfect. They allow the slow moments to sink in, to elongate the dreadful silences that pull the audience down into oblivion, and the actions of each main character take over, until you can tell just by their attitudes and their look exactly which one is the snotty Australian coming in and snapping up a British newspaper and which one is the disillusioned European editor. It’s amazing. And they couldn’t have done it without an amazing director that led them into the most wonderful scenes that speed up and slow in perfect arcs of the story.
The set is a bunch of stacked desks on top of one another, forming a pyramid in the middle of the stage. While there is a lot of symbolism from the piles desks, I’m not writing an essay about that. Instead, what I have to say is that it compliments the fast pace of the story very well. With such a busy background, the foreground characters look less harried and more practiced, more in tune with the world around them. In addition, there is an elevator in the middle of the floor that lifts things up onto the middle of the stage, so that it doesn’t have to be dragged in. This also creates the feeling of speed and intensity that had me leaning forward in my seat.
My only complaint with the show is that because it moves so fast, sometimes the slow bits don’t get to be slow enough. In addition, the accents sometimes were a little bit too much and I wouldn’t be able to catch what was being said. I caught enough, but hey, it’s still a point.
This is one show I think everyone has good reason to see. If you like British accents, or at least you can parse them out okay enough when you hear it, I’ll even say it’s a perfect play for you. I certainly enjoyed it well enough, and hope to possibly see it again.
