i am not a host, but to those outside our system i look a lot like a host and seem to do what a host does

is this term a role term? not really, it more describes how i would be seen by externals/outsiders in relation to others' roles. but it could be used as a role term i guess

more clearly written idea of how i would use the term;

A headmate who spends much time close to or in front (typically main front) and may act in place of a host or cohost when/where said host/cohost is not fit to act.

This may be to protect the host or cohost if a situation is unsafe for them to continue normally, it may be to protect outsiders, or it may be simply to help when a host cannot or will not do a certain task typically associated with the host's role.

A proxy host may have other roles, often being some kind of protector, overseer, or social alter as well.

in our case, i am a specific overseer/patron who cares for some littles who are hosts/cohosts, and i often help them perform their roles or take on the work for them altogether, but i myself am not a host
