A short piece inspired by a line from the Kimetsu no Yaiba fanbook where Giyuu brings Nezuko gifts with regular frequency to the point Zenitsu thought of Giyuu as a rival.
Warning: This contains giyutan and is unedited. Proceed with caution.
Giyuu arrives in front of an isolated cabin in the mountains. With the wrapped gift in his left hand he marches forward.
On the other side, from the corner of Nezuko's eyes, she sees her former benefactor. She drops the vegetables she was washing for tonight's dinner and runs towards him.
When Nezuko jump and hugs him, Giyuu briefly loses balance, but recovers just as fast. Nezuko squeezes him during the embrace, in response Giyuu tilts slightly and lets his head rest against the top of her head for a beat.
A moment later Nezuko lets go and they both take a step back. Familiar with this song and dance, Giyuu hands the wrapped gift in his hand, and Nezuko accepts. No words were exchanged.
One blink later, they curtly nod at each other.
In another blink, Giyuu starts running towards the back of the cabin towards the smoke.
Zenitsu walks up and stands by Nezuko side. He shoots a dirty glare at the former water pillar.
"Do you really think it's like that, Zenitsu-san?" Nezuko asks, quirking an eyebrow up while she turns to look at him.
Even without hyper-sensitive hearing, she can hear Zenitsu's teeth nash, clearly muttering at the one-sided rivalry.
When Giyuu is out of Zenitsu's line of sight, he finally turns to her and softens his expression. Nezuko's expression shifts as she turns to look at him, too.
"It's not what you think, Zenitsu-san," she says, smiling with a hint of mischief in her eyes. "How -" Zenitsu stutters. From his eyes, it's as plain as day. "How can you be so sure of that, Nezuko-chan?!" Nezuko grips the wrapped gift with her left hand and starts to head toward the same direction Giyuu went off to. "Over here," she gestures, "You'll see what I mean."
Zenitsu pauses for a moment, but, ultimately, decides to follow her. The two walked in silence and stand at the corner of the cabin, out of view.
Nezuko sets the gift by her feet. She then takes her right index fingers to her lips and uses her left index finger and points to her ears. Zenitsu stares for a moment, and scrunches his face, skeptical. But another moment passes before he decides to indulge in his Nezuko-chan's wishes. He then turns with her to look at the former water pillar and Tanjirou. The Giyuu is listening intensely and watches Tanjirou char the morning's freshly cut wood, preparing for the following day's sales.
Zenitsu perks his ears, using his sensitive hearing to his advantage. And then he hears it. The former water pillar was laughing. If he were to put an image to describe the sensation, it reminded him of a warm pond, sitting in the sun in the forest. A quiet scene that holds a deep feeling of tranquility.
There's a soft crinkle in Giyuu's eyes as Zenitsu watches the former water pillar cover his mouth, trying to hide his teeth while he chuckles. Tanjirou, even while preparing tomorrow's charcoal, finds the time to take his hand and move Giyuu's hand away from his face. He can catch Tanjirou lightly whining at Giyuu to "stop that."
Zenitsu stops listening closely after that, it felt like he was intruding.
He, then turns to Nezuko.
"I understand now, Nezuko-chan."
She finally looks away and tilts her head and giggles. "You know, Zenitsu-san," she starts.
Zenitsu doesn't know exactly what else to expect after this. There isn't that same feeling of dread that crawls up his spine and up his neck in the same way when he was a demon slayer out on a mission. Yet, he finds the weight in his feet shift uncomfortably. Despite this feeling, he allows her to continue.
"If you tell Uzui-san that Onii-chan's oiran days never ended, he bursts out laughing." Zenitsu's eyebrows twitch at the mention of the former sound pillar, but he eyes focus at the gift by Nezuko-chan's feet. He glares at it with the same intensity as he did with the former water pillar, before he finally softens and smiles.
He chuckles for a bit before finally responding. "I suppose they haven't, huh?"

I'm so happy Biscuit now solicits affection from me. I do wish she didn't launch herself full force at my lap while I'm drinking my coffee though.

Just saying "spiced" instead of just "pumpkin spice" or "apple spice" would invoke the full duality of spicy girl fall vibes 🥰
True but then I wouldn't have the candle vs toothpaste war I've always dreamed of inciting

If TARDISes were real and I was like. Chilling inside of a TARDIS I think I would give It little treats or beverages or shiny little trinkets. Both as a friendly gesture and as in the way I would leave offerings on my altars, or for the spirits in my house. Will maybe elaborate on this later.

Remus’ eyes catch grey in the dirtied mirror. Sirius watches him with no weight.
Remus returns his gaze back to Sirius’ hair, matted and straggly. So different from what he remembers: The silky smooth and shiny black of his youth. Or, even towards the cusp of the first war, when he’d skip a few days of washing and it would turn greasy but never went unbrushed— his nervous fingers constantly running through it.
Remus reaches up now, his fingers spread like a comb, like a rake, through the mess. He only makes it a centimetre or two before he’s caught.
Sirius winces; The emotion across his face come and gone like the lick of a flame.
“Sorry,” Remus mutters.
Sirius shrugs, his shoulders rolling oddly as if there’s a draft in the room he’s trying to slouch off.

So, here have we, an entire page of insanity (and mostly nightmares.)!
I don't know how the fuck I want to draw the confounded The Merry Gentleman. Help he's invading my pages.
#🌊The Vehement Verdant#That's a Sun obsessed Captain going insane in a dream#📜The Vigilant Viper#Robin repeatedly topping off several bottles of the confounded Tincture and his Darkdrop Coffees#he's presently severely nightmare plagued. He's a point away from getting kidnapped.#🎬The Swindling Spieler#Robert was sent to a state of some confusion before Rob spontaneously tried gaining nightmares in Bob's absence.#Blame the Light Fingers ambition (I don't know what I'm getting into but I'm contemplating if I should pick THIS or Heart's Desire oops—)#[I picked Rob and Bob's Ambitions on a whim.]#It took me like—several damned days to return to London.#I kept purposely gaining Nightmares in spite of wanting to return.#CURSE YOU‚ MY ABILITY TO DESPERATELY TRY TO STAY IN CHARACTER!#I only managed to leave AFTER I berated The Manager of the Royal Bethlehem Hotel.#(Which I had complimented on their smooth running mere days ago.#That was also one of the reasons for the delay.)#I'd gotten free like—an evening before December strook. (striked?)#🛎️The Sojourning Bellhop#Theeen there's The Merry Gentleman tormenting my PCs.#As in—practically appearing when I least expect him and jumpscaring Rob and Syr.#(Syren drew this card straight after pushing an old lady out of a hansom cab‚ that's why they're in one#unfortunately I cannot draw one.)#Robin greeted The Merry Gentleman then#Unfortunately: high watchful. Result thar be Walls Incorrectly Placed.#Then the below doodle is a reference for myself so I didn't f_ck up the one for Robin.#Theennn the ones below are all updated or previous versions that I liked so I kept them but didn't bother to edit them in.#I like to pretend The Merry Gentleman is taller than Robin.#And Rob's the tallest FL OC I have (that is human.) so that says a handful.#The Merry Gentleman#The Manager of the Royal Bethlehem Hotel#eyestrain

Will you be serving up food/drink recommendations with each request?
I've started doing it with just kin tip requests (I feel they lend well to having those), but I've been thinking about doing it for all requests too. Just a little bonus that I think some may appreciate, and brings some uniqueness to the blog, I feel. Though of course if there's any reason you don't want to get a food/drink recommendation with your request, you can let me know. Comparatively, maybe you could specifically ask for kin related food/drinks? I wonder what everyone thinks about that idea...

thinking about the penumbra podcast and how sad i am about the direction they took with juno steel season 3-onward :// (OK THIS GOT SO LONG SO ITS BROKEN INTO PARAGRAPHS UNDER A READMORE)
like i think seasons 1 and 2 are SO good in such different ways but im so disappointed w how they handled the transition into a more ensemble-focused format. like i think first of all juno as an unreliable narrator is a big part of what makes it work and when they switched to peter once in season one (if i am remembering that correctly? its been a While) it works because it is such a fundamental disruption of the audience's perspective and highlights the chaos n confusion of our new narrator (again i might be fully misremembering this lol).
and second i hate hate hate the way they they handled (SPOILERS) the juno+peter reunion. like i remember listening to kevin talk about the desicion to not explicitly show them working out their relationship and having those convos happen 99% offscreen and he said smth to the effect of "well other people have written that scene a hundred times and anything we did wouldve been disappointing" and like ok have some confidence in ur own writing characterization lol and also i think that is a symptom of overrelation w fandom... i was in a discord server w kevin and i believe they are now going by harley and there is nothing WRONG with that but like . i am here for the story YOU are writing and while fandom / fanfic can be a great supplement you shouldnt be relying on it for fundamental characterization??? of the protagonist and his romantic interest ?????
and my final big issue i think is that they fell into i think a similar pitfall that taz:amnesty does which is the stakes become higher and higher by means of scale when that sort of shift doesnt serve the story. like it starts as a small town / big city facing internal danger but then it becomes a whole apocalypse that involves the entire world but then the stakes have to go up because you did a world-saving thing LAST season so the stakes start moving around and outside the scope of what we initially cared about and then suddenly our protag, who was initially interesting because they were so deeply tied to PLACE (kepler / hyperion city), is now this over-inflated whole-multiverse-and-all-of-existence saver. which i think can be handled well a la into the spiderverse but that depends on genre and i think sci-fi noir of episodic monster-of-the-week is just not as well suited to that kind of change as comic-book superhero.
from an audience perspective i think the solution to these problems is to either listen to season 1 as a self-contained story about two sad sad people solving a mystery that has implications beyond its internal scope but like thats not part of the story we get to see (similar to like. disco elysium's quote-unquote "bad ending"). and from the writers perspective i think some limiting of ambition was needed. i think that season three shouldve been handled very differently and also been a wrap on the juno steel story. i think a series of two-episode adventures with a juno steel narration with each adventure focusing on his relationship with a different character wouldve been one way to go about this, culminating with a climactic conversation between him and peter and maybe it works and maybe it doesnt. and then the overarching story connecting their adventures comes to an end and we leave whatever happens next open ended but the characterization in the moment of the finale is solid. but maybe thats just me.

Revisiting Andromeda, and every time I finish playing one twin, I inevitably want to immediately replay with the other. Though at the moment, I have two simultaneous playthroughs - one a replay for Sara (of the rp variety, since I'm trying to pin down her exact galaxy state), and the other Scott...
Which is leading me to want to actually write Scott, because one thing I genuinely appreciate about how they handled the twins is that they each have their own unique personality quirks, and even some unique dialogues depending on which twin you're playing as.
Honestly, I kinda want to throw the twins into a full canon divergent AU and just ignore the whole coma thing, but have like... some variety for reasons why the other twin isn't necessarily on the Tempest anyway? Or if the coma thing is kept at all, have them wake up a lot sooner and them recovering a lot faster so they're not trapped in the Hyperion medbay for months on end while the other is out saving the cluster?
Really, I kinda want to throw a spanner into the works and let the non-Pathfinder twin be exiled from the Nexus, maybe even joining the Collective or becoming another rival faction on Kadara, or end up in the Initiative Embassy on Aya as part of the diplomatic team there, or they're one of the researchers that gets assigned to Havarl, or they just end up in one of the outposts in general. Depends on the mood and intentions towards a plot, etc....
Not to mention interest in general, otherwise I'll probably just end up writing it as fic... Especially when faced with the whole potential of what the hell they were intending on doing regarding the quarian ark since the project for the DLC got cancelled thanks to the less than stellar reception of MEA (though the Day One issues due to rushed development certainly didn't help on that front - MEA is definitely a game that requires mods for bug fixes and various improvements).
