Hey Rhody, what's a food one must try if they're ever in Rhode island

It's soooo hard to choose just one but out of our regional specialties my personal favorites are hot wieners (Olneyville New York System Wieners is the full name I believe, no they're not hot dogs and no you can't put ketchup on them that's a felony) all the way which are best served with coffee milk.

Also anything involving quahogs (clams) especially clam cakes, and if you see a truck that says Del's Lemonade then go check that out because Del's Lemonade is better than your lemonade and it's unique and stuff like it's kind of slushy. Also don't use a straw hon because then everyone's gonna look at you weird because that shows you don't know what you're doing oh and also it's a crime.

Did other elementary schools serve coffee milk or is that strictly a Massachusetts/Rhode Island thing?

It wasn’t all the time, but like once a month and we would clamor for that stuff

Omg today was such an amazing day with my family. It took us forever to find each other but I am soooo extremely grateful for this man to be in our lives.

It's always interesting to see how differently people see things lol I've lived in RI my entire life, so I'm biased, but I don't personally associate any of these things with the state? 🤷‍♂️

Now I doubt anyone is super interested in this, but I'm weird and bored, so I threw together a quick list of the "something else" things that I associate with the vibe of Rhode Island.

[In no particular order]

🍋Dels Lemonade: A local frozen lemonade chain. To be eaten without a straw or spoon, you just slurp it up.

🎩Roger Williams: Our very own colonizer! "Founder" of Rhode Island, has lots of stuff named after him, including an ok park and zoo.

🍺Narragansett beer: It's beer! it's cheap! What more do you want? fun fact, there is a dels lemonade crossover flavor.

🦟The Big Blue Bug: Our very own state kaiju! Yes it's definitely that and not just an advertisement for a pest control company on a rooftop next to the highway. They do dress him up in cute outfits for all of the holidays though.

🌭NY System wieners: Don't think too hard about this one, just get a couple wieners all the way (mustard, chili, onions) with some coffee milk and shut up about it.

🌊🔥Waterfire: A series of festivals in the summer where they light up torches that are in a river that flows through the capital city of providence.

🥤Awful Awfuls: "It's a drink!" (It's a milkshake)

🪦H.P. Lovecrafts Grave: We gotsa dead author here

🍕Pizza Strips/Party Pizza: Dough, and sauce. that's it. popular at kids parties. It's better than it sounds.

☕🥛Coffee Milk: You heard that right. No, it's not iced coffee, it's a syrup you mix with milk, like chocolate milk, just coffee flavored. It's amazing. Another fun fact, there's an Autocrat X Narragansett coffee flavored beer as well, because of course there is.

There's a lot more I could probably add, and I'm sure I'll think of more stuff later, but this is what comes to mind initially.
