OM Vent
This is about Father and Lilith specifically, but includes others.
Spoilers
I think one of the most disappointing reveals is what Father is like.
He was this terrifying and overpoweringly mighty authority figure, but turned out just an abusive, neglectful, angsty, possessive, control freak who backed down during one of the most dangerous and consequential arcs of the game, and immediately forgave Lucifer the Fallen Angels at that point yet was completely silent on Lilith. Sure, he had time to think, "grow and change" since punishing Lilith and them, but if he's really supposed to be the ultimate authority he shouldn't have had a change of heart or forgiven them. Especially not after what happened in Cocytus. I guess it's just Nightbringer now. What is Raphael going to do with his angst now that things are all wrapped up between the bros and Father? Will Raphael forgive him and feel better too? /rh
Father is a Crying Cheems. He punished them justly.
I know it's a plot necessity to cause a sympathetic reason for the Brother's Fall, sympathizers and allies in CR, but lmaoooooooooo betrayal and causing a rebellion that caused 7 Fallen Angels and war was forgivable?
Expanding on her character in NB is one of the beat things for her/the brothers, but Lilith was still done so dirty by the plot. If Father still loves and forgave Lucifer the brothers he should have posthumously forgiven and said that he loved her too. There was time and space to have done that, especially because Lilith specifically matters so much to Lucifer, Belphie and Beel. Lucifer faced grave punishment and paid a high price to have her life saved, and Beel and Belphie still carry survivors guilt all that time. These three specifically would have found peace and closure through knowing that Father didn't hate her or still hold that against her.
If he cares about his kids and felt remorse you would THINK there would have at least been an acknowledgement of how harsh he was to her since she set it all in motion. "I saw the happiness she found with her human lover and child(ren) and how her children did this that and the other. Her life led to MC who so clearly even more important to you and brings happiness to you guys. I regret to have punished her so harshly because it caused war so much hurt and loss. It cost so much suffering for my beloved favorite son other children." Or something.

Going through my notes on the translation panel yesterday at Fan Fest. This is one of the panels I was really excited for, so I paid particular attention. Gonna put everything under a cut this time to save your scrolling:
Tumblr media
"rating boards want game script submissions early, translation is an up-to-release job, so the solution: every line is Thal's Balls and hope they don't notice"
"Urianger was introduced in 1.0 as just an 'the end is nigh' guy, surely he wouldn't be around for long, so we went all out with his dialogue. And then he became a main character, oops" lol
"Draconic language is always done by the English VAs, which is used in all region languages" < interesting! I haven't seen any cutscenes in other languages yet so I never would have noticed.
Tumblr media
I loved the section on Thavnair. The place and people names are actually a mixture of Ottoman-Turkish names, while those of the Arkasodara are Sanskrit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Turkish names on the left, Sanskrit on the right. They even made a stylistic difference with the Turkish names being meaningful phrases or titles, while the Sanskrit names are more simple and to the point concepts.
For Elpis, they used (mostly made up!) Greek names, giving them extremely flowery names indicative of the Ancients' propensity for over-description.
Tumblr media
Also lots of areas are named after wind. They didn't explicitly say this, but maybe serves as a connection to Hermes and his wind powers? Did he have a say in naming these areas? A neat detail to build off of!
Tumblr media
Old Sharlayan, meanwhile, also uses Greek names, but importantly, because it is a subject of study and not their native language, they are more utilitarian and less poetic with it.
Tumblr media
hehe cabbage dragon
Tumblr media
I didn't get any notes on the crowd-sourced fish they made by having the audience vote on it. All I remember is they gave it the trait "can only swim to the left" and then failed to name it "Larboard Loach".
0/10 fan fest audience an eternity of shame on you
They mentioned briefly that the English VAs for Cocytus' dual voices were Emma Ballentine (Ryne) and Nigel Betts (Vrtra). I already clocked Ryne as Mage's Lament, but couldn't place Martialist's Lament. Interesting they didn't say anything about those voices being any specific characters from the past, which leads me to believe they weren't meant to be anything but unnamed villainous souls. Especially since Mage in EN sounds like Ryne doing her best gremlin impression, while in JP they sound like a more elegant, Queen Beryl-esque type.
*SIGH*
And now last and my least favorite part of the panel, and proof positive that the team should just stop taking lore Q&A submissions full stop. When asked about the other nations and cultures outside of Amaurot in the unsundered world, they said this:
Tumblr media
I really don't like this. In fact I hate it worse than the "fate of Venat's soul" Q&A lore bit and want to ignore it just as hard.
Like.... why bother? I'd rather they said they never detailed other nations or cultures because they wanted to leave the details of those places up to the players, in case they wanted to write about their Azem visiting them as their role as the Traveller, or if players prefer their Azem did not come from Amaurot.
But if the Convocation is already in charge of the whole star, what then is the point of Azem's seat? Why do you need a Traveler if everything is explored, someone tasked with learning about other cultures and peoples if the ways of Amaurot are the rule of the land?
At no point in the narrative did anyone imply the seat of Azem being superfluous, a relic of a past when the world was unexplored, but rather a still relevant position that kept both Venat and our Azem constantly seeing places that were not like Amaurot, which lead Venat to appreciate the diversity of the world and how unique and precious it made every person. A mindset that directly led to her decision to sunder the world rather than let it eat itself in an endless cycle of sacrifice.
Also the Final Days were literally wrecking other parts of the world like they were in Thavnair, While Amaurot was still debating whether to do anything ala Old Sharlayan. The parallels are already there that one of Amaurot's flaws was it's insular nature, and that its great experiment of a culture devoted to enrichment of the star was cut short by the Final Days, not that it was basically already done and had conquered the world.
So yeah, hate it, ignoring cause it's not gonna matter to the plot now anyway. Who knows maybe the new Encyclopedia Eorzea will elaborate a little more that doesn't make it as terrible as it sounds, but I'm not holding my breath.

Note
I'm back of round 2 of being Momogan/Ainz mom, ( and is okay to add in if momma have demonic dragon legs if that's okay? ) And more Janeirv hc?? ( Is that how you spell his name? The blind guy )
1) Yes, you can. Go nuts my friend, just don't go too overboard with the 'go nuts' part, m'kay? :)
2) You mean Jirvcniv? He's not the blind guy, he's the emperor of the Baharuth Empire. I don't think currently there is any characters I know in Overlord that is technically blind. bwb
But you did spell his name close enough. NGL, his name is difficult for me to spell too //sobs
And I'm assuming you mean general HCs between the mama and Jirvcniv, but I'll also separate this with general HCs w/ him.
~~~~~~~~~~
So, I would say that you having these demonic dragon legs would intrigued Demiurge greatly about it. As he being demon and all.
Though, you are rather insecure about it. Because you are being more used to see yourself with more of an human figure.
Insert Demiurge confidence support line
Man ready to give out compliments like a machine gun, as well Cocytus, Aura, Mare, Shalltear, Sebas, Albedo.... Everyone in the Tomb of Nazarick is ready to be the confidence boost support line.
Though the dragon legs do give you more agility, kick strength, and the ability to withstand lava and other rough terrains.
Ainz would be a little relieved that all the attention of praising of his intelligence and superiority is now off his shoulder and could be a little bit more of himself now, but he keeps a close eye on the praised on you - so you don't get overwhelmed with the praises.
Although, I would like to mention that nobody questioned how fucking big Ainz is and that how dainty sized you are. That the logic of you birthing Ainz is impossible, like damn. How much of a stretching did you get? .-.
After visiting
Like I said with the blessed Wyld elven look, you got your dragon legs from an event on Halloween. Thanks to Ainz carrying you. It come from a form of between a necklace, crown, and ring. Highly sizable, depending how you want to wear the item. Though due to it being from an event, the skills it give out is lacking without any combined items...
For the demon part of the legs, I want to say that this item can be combinable as it's only a metal ring that isn't adorned with jewelry. You got the demonic part of the legs from Ainz after he had worded so many demon stones from a guild boss event long ago, and gave one to you as a Mother's Day gift because how pretty it was. Though the demon stones were only gifted for the top 100 guilds by points.
Your relationship with Jirvcniv is merely on professional standards. He doesn't see you anymore as a trophy wife or a pawn in his game once he released that you are far much stronger AND the mother of Ainz.
He both respects you and fear you, due to your status.
He wouldn't lie though, that he enjoys you visiting him time to time to either talk or play a few games of chess. Kinda just relaxes him from his duties as an Emperor.
Like everyone else, he easily falls into your words that everything is a plan for a much worse best fate for things
Personally, I think Jirvcniv thinks that his possible punishments for any failures or something like that would be lightened as he thinks he's your favorite human/friend(???)
Though, he does get highly stressed when you or one of your butlers sent in a word that you'll be coming over for a visit.
Everything MUST be perfect!
WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE DRINK?!
BRING IN THE MOST COMFORTABLE AND FANCY CHAIRS!!
BRING ME MY BEST CLOTHES!!
Bring me this, where is that, place that there, etc, etc. You get the drill.
-------------------
'Draconic ring:' Comes in a form of jewelry when equipped. When activated for use, the user's legs now transformed into dragon leggings. Now can have the ability to 'Fire Walk.' (Agility has been increased by +95%, ATK has been increased by +25%, Fire resistance by 125%)
'Demonic tears:' A combinable item that can increase the stats of a wearable item. Now can have the ability 'Soul Sucker.' CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THE 'DEMON LORD'S DEFEAT EVENT' AS THE TOP 100 GUILDS (Agility has been increased by 85%, Holy resistance by 125%, Life Leech increased by 110%, ATK has been increased by 90%, Fire resistance by 125%)
-----------------------
Now for general/romanic HCs for him:
As a friend, he enjoys your presence. As he has at least somebody that can at least help him out and forget that he has duties as an emperor for a bit before going all "lookie here! I'm the leader doing all political and nonpolitical work I'ma gonna do!"
Romantically, I see him having you sitting on his lap to at least have his work not being unbearable to do, now his lover is with him.
Often times, I can't deny the fact that Jirvcniv seems the guy to be much more vulnerable when around very close friends or lover. Like, he drops the persona that he's a intelligent and calm ruler and more that he is very stressed and sometimes couldn't depend how far his intelligence can go. Like, man has limits on how far he can go.
He would honestly do anything to keep both parties happy, as technically they both functions as the rock for his stress and mental health.
Man big softie when alone with his partner, as he shows more vulnerability to his lover than his best friend.
Man CAN NOT cook
I mean it
He can't cook
So, expect him trying to cook for his lover w/ the kitchen set on fire and the cooks screaming
Character Intro: Phlegethon (Kingdom of Ichor)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nicknames- Phlege by his friends
Sir Burns-a-Lot by Hermes
Beau by Styx
Flame-o by Bia
Age- 47 (immortal)
Location- The Underworld
Personality- Phlege is a fiery, explosive (mostly in a good way) guy. He's larger than life, putting 1,000% into everything he does. He's in a relationship.
His namesake river is made entirely out of red hot flames. The river flows down into Tartarus, keeping the wicked alive so they can endure the torments in the Fields of Punishment.
As the Titan god of fire, his abilities include pyrokinesis, calokinesis (generating and manipulating heat), fire healing, fire mimicry, summoning and controlling Phlegethonian rubies & copper, total fire/heat immunity, and hydrokinesis (as it pertains to his river).
Phlege lives in an obsidian stone house, a few miles down from his river. He has a pet phoenix, the other "girl" in his life named Ember. He falls in love every time she "reborns" from the ashes. He’s been thinking about getting another pet- a dragon! He also has his own personal hot tub, filled with lava that he enjoys soaking in after a long day's work.
Aside from running the affairs of his namesake river, Phlege is also an accomplished blacksmith. He mainly mines (and supplies) Olympius with Phlegethonian Rubies and Copper.
He nicknames himself and the rest of the Underworld river gods as the "OG Darkside Crew." Of course his favorite person there is his girlfriend Styx (Titaness of hatred). Phlegethon thinks that Acheron (Titan god of pain) is too serious and also tries to get Cocytus (Titan god of wailing & lamentation) to loosen up a bit more.
In Olympius, he admires the work of the three blacksmithing cyclopes (Brontes, Sterope, and Arges). They all get together, hanging out sometimes when they come to the Underworld to visit. Phlege is also cool with Perses (Titan god of destruction), Draco (god of dragons), Atë (goddess of mischief, ruin, blind folly, delusion, & downfall of heroes), Empusa (goddess of shapeshifting), Ponos (god of hard labor & toil), Menoetius (Titan god of rage, violence, & rash actions), Polemos (god of war cry & battle), and Alastor (god of blood feuds & vengeance).
He personally thinks that Styx's ex-husband Pallas (Titan god of warcraft & battle) is the "dumbest asshole he's ever known." The two met very briefly once during a signing of a new Olympian law- approving out of realm tourism in the Underworld.
His go-to drink is a cucumber jalapeño margarita. He also likes bloody marys, black martinis, negronis, habanero martinis, scotch on the rocks, & beer. Phlegethon enjoys an olympian sized dark roast coffee from The Roasted Bean.
Phlege has a very particular palette for spicy food. The hotter, the spicier, the better! Most of the things he eats, he douses in sriracha, chile, or chipotle sauce. Some of his favorite foods include hot and sour vinegar chili (with extra peppercorns), fried plantains (covered in chile tamblado sauce), and inferno ghost chile wings- the hottest chicken wings... EVER! He made them once for a Winter Solstice Festival & everyone aside from Nyx (goddess of the night) threw up in fiery agony.
He does want to know Styx's children a lot better. Phlege has only gotten to know Bia (goddess of force & power) and they both get along. He's definitely not interested in groveling or kissing ass since Zelus (god of envy, jealousy, & zeal) told him off.
In his free time, Phlege LOVES lava surfing. He's also a "DJ in training," experimenting with afro-futurism & reggaeton music. He also loves spending time with his girlfriend, feeling like his heart "bursts into flames" every time he's around her! He also enjoys blacksmithing, working on his music, cooking, & sword fighting.
"Screw ice. Things would be better if the universe was engulfed in flames."
Hades [1/3]
Hallo everyone!!! I’m really enjoying writing these god aus? And I wanted to do one for one of my favorite Overwatch characters, Gabriel Reyes. So, this story was born!! I hope you guys enjoy it~! Please, if you’d like to keep on top of the story, follow the tag Hades Series! Thank you!
It was as dark and stormy as all tragedies are. You sat under the safety of the large arms of a tree, watching as the fat rain drops fed the rolling sea of crops ahead of you. The touch left behind by your mother. You brushed your hands over the grass and watched as soft buds formed in their wake.
Only the attempts of life.
You curled your hands back into your chest. You had wished to let the storm pass and walk through the remnants of the deluge but now had second thoughts. Perhaps it would be better if you walked through the storm. You stood and let your hands drop to your sides.
“Don’t be crazy.” The voice startled you, sent you jumping and tumbling out into the rain regardless. It soaked through your clothes and weighed down your hair until you could hardly see. Large hands gripped your arms and pulled you back under the safety of the tree. You parted your hair. Gabriel stared down at you, amused and just as wet as you were. “And you wanted to walk through this?” he suggested.
You pulled your hands free from his and pushed away from him. “It was only a thought,” you said as you twisted the water from your hair. You watched him warily. Your mother had warned you about him. She had said his touch was the icy grip of death – but it wasn’t – and that he had a stare that could rip the soul from flesh – it didn’t. She had told you everything she could to keep you from the grip of the god of the underworld.
His hand reached up to run through his own hair. Shadows trailed from his arm, curled and clouded until they dissipated into nothing. You reached out to touch the smallest that were left behind. He watched you.
“You could stay with me until the rain lets up,” he murmured. You pulled your hair over your shoulder and watched him. He squirmed. “I’ll take you right home,” he added.
You agreed.
The crops swayed their dissent.
You followed in the protective shelter of his shadow until the trees grew too close together, stretched too tall, turned from wood, to fossil, to stone. The pelting rain turned into the trickle and sloshing of a gently flowing river. The only light came from the distant ceiling above, where the ghosts of light twinkled off of multi-faceted gemstones, and from plump fruit that hugged the walls on ethereal vines. They were multiple colors – blues, greens, reds, whites, and others that you had no name for – and stretched up into the darkness. This darkness seemed to melt from Gabriel’s shoulders. It all was part of him. You didn’t need to ask where you were as you followed him down a winding pathway.
People sang and their voices echoed as you passed over a bridge. You dared to glance down. The river was filled with the souls of the recently deceased and they sang to each other as they floated with the current.
Gabriel stopped, his dark shadows dripping over the apex of the stone bridge. As he glanced over his shoulder, you saw mouths split open his cheeks and thick, sharp teeth part as those mouths breathed in the cool air. His shoulder turned to you and, as his profile became more pronounced, the mouths closed his skin and a life returned to his eyes. They were red a breath before. Now, they were brown.
“Cocytus,” he said softly. He scoffed as surprise flitted across your face. He continued to lead the way.
You hurried after him, bare feet tapping on stone. “They said it was the river of wailing,” you claimed.
“They lied,” he replied. His voice clicked and mouths you could not seen echoed the sound. “Wailing,” he repeated. He looked back a second time. His hair was dissolving to shadow. “Who told you this? De—”
“My mother,” you answered meekly.
His eyes left you.
The path opened into a street. The fruit fell away from your reach as the area widened. Three soft and curious sounds met your ears. A large creature appeared from the shadows, ears flat against each of its three heads, which were low to the ground. Shadows that were darker than the darkness around you reached up to stroke three muzzles.
He called him Cerberus. The dog nudged you with all three noses and coaxed laughter from you. It danced away and returned from far distant walls. A large tongue licked you from toe to temple and you squealed. You opened your eyes.
Gabriel stood nearby. He watched with two sets of narrowed, red eyes and dangerously snarled mouths that opened over exposed skin. They snapped closed at your glance. He cleared his throat. “Make yourself at home,” he grumbled.
The room illuminated by a wave of faint light. It outlined entrances to rooms and windows that overlooked the shores of the rivers of the underworld. It traveled up walls that arched high and were filled with the same stars you would watch at night. Your breath left you. “This is the Underworld?” you asked. You pushed you way between two heads of Cerberus and grasped Gabriel’s arm between your hands.
He was so warm.
“Will you show me around?” you asked. His four eyes searched your face. Gabriel lifted his hand and upturned his palm to you. You took it.
He kissed your fingers and pulled you along.
