TL;DR Version: @SteakNShake breakfast milkshakes are the gold standard for milkshakes containing children’s cereal. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my favorite so far. Full Review: This weekend my friend alerted me to the fact that Steak n’ Shake has their own line of breakfast cereal milkshakes. She also gave me a BOGO coupon for them, so you’re getting a double dip review today. Their four cereal options are Honey Smacks, Cinnamon Toast Crunch (“CTC”), Cocoa Crispies, and Frosted Flakes. I knew I needed the CTC Shake because I needed to be able to compare it to the one from Burger King. As for the other shake, I asked the woman at the counter which one was the best and she said Cocoa Crispies. It took awhile to make the shakes, probably because of all the extra love they were mixing into them, but they were worth the wait. I tried Cocoa Crispies first and, despite not being a huge fan of this cereal, I was ready to declare that shake the winner because it was a perfect ratio of ice cream to cereal in terms of both texture and flavor. As far as I could tell, it was just a vanilla milkshake with cereal blended into it so that the chocolate flavor came exclusively from the cereal. Then I tried the CTC Shake and ultimately realized I’d jumped the gun in declaring Cocoa Crispies the better shake. The first taste was through the straw and, while that was pretty good, it didn’t come close to how wonderful the second taste was using a spoon. The chunks of cereal that the straws were previously missing came across in their glorious full flavor with each bite. Once again, there was no extra syrup added to give the shake its cinnamon taste (like at Burger King), it was purely the result of including copious amounts of its namesake cereal. The CTC Shake also has fewer calories (620) than both the Cocoa Crispies Shake (860) and the Burger King version of the CTC Shake (780). So I was going to have a couple Oreos and some milk, but some jerk ate all and left only two in the package, so I put them in a bowl, and poured Cocoa Crispies on top, and milk, and let the Oreos get all soggy, and I spooned them out with a nice little puddle of milk under the cookie in the spoon, and some cocoa crispies on top, and it was life changing oh my god.
