I hc that cocoa puffs react to their dads' feelings. And since they're Nico's persona of his emotions. They can feel and act whatever their dads' are feeling.

Even if the feeling is not even projected externally. They can feel it, and will react based on the emotion. And it's not just Nico, since Will is also technically their dad they drive off his emotions too, they sympathize with both of their dad's emotions.

So imagine Will is in the infirmary with one of the cocoa puffs, and he's tired, exhausted and stressed.

And Nico comes in checking up on Will and seeing one of the cocoa puffs on his lap, while Will taps his pen reverently on the desk filled with paper work.

And the puff just starts vibrating violently off it's seat, looking extremely stressed out. As in reffering to Will's stressed out self.

Which can be used as a helpful tool to figure out what Will maybe feeling because he ALWAYS bottles up shit till he blows.

So imagine Will or Nico looking off, or just acting weird. The other turns to one of the puffs and can differentiate what emotions the puffs are experiencing based on the feelings that their dad is hiding and can immediately understand what they're going through.

Nico: "Will, you're looking off today. What happened?"

Will: "It's nothing."

Nico, turning to one of the puffs vibrating angrily while staring dead-eyed at Will: "Mhm, okay sunshine, I'mma need you to sit—"

It's a good concept and it will help with knowing whatever straight from the bottom of their deepest soul emotion they're bottling up.

Percy: Let's just wait, he'll explain it to you *goes under the table to get Grief Puff and comes out carrying it in his arms* There we go. Does that feel better?

Grief Puff: *cuddles into him*

Annabeth: What the fuck?! PERCY, PUT THAT DOWN! YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE IT'S BEEN!

Percy: That's not nice. I'm sure he just stumbled into your cabin by accident.

Nico, coming in: Hey, what's up?

Percy: Grief got into the Athena cabin and it spooked Annabeth. *hands Grief over to Nico*

Nico: Aww *bounces it in his arms* I told you not to stray too far from me or your dad. *To them* Sorry about this, guys. We were just going for a walk and all of a sudden he's out of sight.

Percy: It's cool. No harm done.

But also please know that when Leo and Jason got together Will got Jason a matching one because of Festus and the first time he wore it Leo laughed so hard he cried

It’s October! And that means Halloween art! This year though, I’m making it a bit of a game. Each week you can vote to help Nico and Will figure out what costumes they should wear - ultimately concluding on one on Halloween!
