RomCom Movie Idea: Widower Actor Dads (played by Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins) that have been best friends forever that when their wives die in a horrible accident help eachother through the grief and eventually find out they're in love with eachother. But thats not the plot of the movie. The actual plot is that their daughters are getting lesbian married and they've been in the closet the whole time because they've been putting it off until the kids were ready which ok kinda makes sense I guess but even when the daughters came out they didnt want to steal their moment but they kept putting it off until one day the daughters come home from college to announce their wedding and so dad a is like "nows the time" and dad b agrees but then daughter a anounces that shes marrying daughter b before the dads get the chance to come clean and again they dont wanna steal their moment once again so they resign to wait until after the wedding but dad b is basically living with dad a now and so until they come out its a minor problem but dad b decides he wants to give the daughters his house as a wedding present when they finally do but until then they are in a pickly wickly predicament. So its really just wedding shenanigans and trying to keep The Secret (that could the the title of the movie; also maybe its too long for a movie and should be a show instead) and occasional flash backs to their relationship throughout the years until everything comes to a screeching halt on the wedding night at the reception cuz the dads sneak away and the daughters go looking for them and come across a couple getting hot and heavy in a closet only to open to tell them to move it along ("this is a wedding not a porn set") only to find out its their dads so its a big thing that the daughters are mad cuz the dads never told them but its quickly resolved (and maybe the daughters feel bad that the dads were gonna come out to them but didnt want to dim the daughters spotlight and resigned to waiting again and when the daughters hear the dads say that the daughters feel sad but really loved because of course their dads would sacrifice their own happiness for theirs, they always have) in time for a tabloid to come out with the scandal and for them to all hold a united front and the dads to say in an interview that they're not ashamed to be together (just a little embarrassed about the incident and wished it wasnt publicized, "it was probably Rhonda" "I never liked her") and when asked why they were in the closet so long "we said for the kids and we believed that excuse for a while -and also the excuse that we just kept putting it off for a more convenient time or when we wouldn't be taking the spotlight off the girls- but really we were just scared" and things die down eventually and they decide to get married too and their daughters walk them down the aisle (going full circle). And then their daughters adopt and they get to be gay grandpas together.

(Honestly its really just a cockles/destiel au fanfic and to be on the nose Jensen's character is named Misha Ackles and Misha's is Jensen Collins, or more subtly Jensen's is Ross Collins and Misha's is Nic Ackles.)

Misha and Jensen crying through Misha’s last scene because it was also the last scene they would film together is something we have not talked about enough.

Castiel’s speech could also basically be to Jensen, who changed so much in 12 years, in part because of Misha, and who I’m sure Misha changed:

“I know. I know how you see yourself, Dean. You see yourself the same way our enemies see you. You're destructive and you're angry and you're broken. You're -- You're "Daddy's Blunt Instrument." And you think that hate and anger that's -- that's what drives you. That's who you are. It's not. And everyone who knows you sees it. Everything you have ever done, the good and the bad you have done for love. You raised your little brother for love. You fought for this whole world for love. That is who you are. You're the most caring man on Earth. You are the most selfless, loving human being I will ever know. You know, ever since we met, ever since I pulled you out of Hell, knowing you has changed me. It’s truly no wonder that Jensen says he had a hard time staying in character and reacting as Dean and not Jensen. The man he loves (which he said publicly and which you don’t need to believe in more than a friendship for) is telling him he’s the most loving human, better than his dad wanted or thought (Jensen has daddy issues too), and that knowing him has changed him forever. And then he says goodbye.

These men are phenomenal actors but that scene barely needed it. We all wanted to see them kiss on camera, but we actually got something more intimate. We got their real goodbyes.

Think about that and although it makes 15x18 even more painful it also makes it even more beautiful, because it also captures something of the incredibly special relationship that came from the show and changed them both. No network executive could ever ruin that.

It really is some consolation that although the status of Destiel is ambiguous (to some) and changing constantly Cockles goes canon every day and has since at least 2013.

and look, despite all that, it’s honestly not about fantasizing about two hot guys fucking, or anything sexual at all. whatever they actually are, they love each other, they make each other happy, and getting to see it makes me happy. it’s something good in the world, these two sweet idiots loving each other and letting us see the fact that they love each other. 

Jensen and Misha are something undeniably happy and good in a world that isn’t. They are absolutely my only RPS (real person ship) and it feels a lot more like acknowledging what’s already there than “shipping” conveys. I have tags for “ethics of rps” and “how to rps” with thoughts on how to do this ethically (tip one: do not bring it up to the actors!!) if you want to read more.

But new followers be aware, until the finale happened this was like 80% a Cockles blog and, yes, I also mean it seriously. Yes, some of us have non-public knowledge on this and that makes me feel more ok with it. But, more than that, it’s the fact that I just want to enjoy their happiness from a distance so it can make me happy too. And that’s the spirit of this blog too.

okay i’m putting this under a readmore because it’s embarrassing to talk about in front of 20k people. this is my cockles manifesto:

i am, as a rule, not into rpf shipping. i have no problem with people who are, it just feels kind of weird and invasive to me so i generally avoid it.

however, i have been here since 2012, and the sheer level of unabashed shenanigans that have been beamed into my eyeballs, paired with my intuitive understanding of body language, have convinced me that misha and jensen do in fact have a private romantic/sexual relationship.

BUT i have to make it clear that i don’t mean that in a “cheating on their wives” way, but in a polyamory way - which isn’t much of a stretch, considering that we know misha and his wife are poly, and vicki literally wrote ‘the threesome’s handbook’. almost every single cockles shipper loves vicki and danneel, we are not about disrespecting or hating them whatsoever. 

now, i KNOW that saying that i believe the actors who portray my otp are in a secret relationship makes me sound insane, believe me i’m aware of that, but i’m not saying it lightly or without evidence. those of us who’ve been around a while know that it’s treated as basically an open secret in the spn fandom and among the spn cast, who very frequently make comments and allusions to them being together. jared has made SO many comments that people make posts collecting them, like this one and this one. like i said, it’s basically an open secret. here’s some (by no means comprehensive, just what i could easily find) Highly Suspicious Stuff: x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x/x, x

i mean... 

but it’s important to make clear that if either of them EVER seemed uncomfortable with us shipping them and making jokes and comments, i would absolutely stop. i respect them and i don’t ever want to make them feel like their privacy is violated or creeped out. but the thing is, they not just ‘not uncomfortable’, they very deliberately egg us on. misha loves to make ‘cockles’ puns, they happily do silly photo ops implying they’re together, and they both love to post photos of themselves together, knowing quite well how we go crazy for it. 

like the above selfie, where they posed chest to chest, and this actual ‘anniversary’ photo jensen posted, celebrating ten years of the first time he took misha out to dinner, actually tracking down the same restaurant and the same table.

every time they have a panel together (which usually only happens at the yearly roman convention known as jibcon), their antics get wilder. the first time i went “wait...” was in 2013, when they dry-humped onstage.

and by 2019, we have jensen eagerly throwing himself down on the stage (to reenact a scene between castiel and sam) so misha could get on top of him and mime choking him, and then pretty obviously getting a boner because of it. oh and i can’t possibly leave out the kissing, or the panel where jensen got drunk and opened his pants to show misha his underwear.

their body language around each other is so different from how they are around anyone else (except their wives). like, you can see how jensen and jared love each other and what good friends they are by how they play off each other and have an easy camaraderie, but as soon as jensen gets around misha, he can’t take his eyes off him. he stares, he giggles like a fool over not-that-funny jokes (we call it his unicorn laugh), he looks absolutely besotted, and they’re constantly gravitating to each other and touching each other in really intimate ways: x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x

honestly, there have been so many Shenanigans over the last 12 years that i can’t even remember them all, or find them all in my archives. there’s been clothes sharing/swapping, there’s jensen’s inexplicable kink for misha’s bad accents, the time misha reenacted the fake orgasm scene from when harry met sally and jensen, um, liked it, their matching bracelets and rings, how very enthusiastic jensen is about calling misha “dmitri”, how jensen grumpily insists he can’t remember last week but jumps at the chance to tell the story of how he met misha and the first time he went to dinner with misha and misha told the server to bring them “the three least ordered dishes on the menu” (seriously, they tell the story of how they met all the time), the number of times they’ve been suspiciously late to their autograph and photo op sessions...
