oof, at this point, what hasn't he done? okay, so, first i must gesture to ::all of JIB:: that con was absolutely unhinged. A+ cockles content, but also jensen said some really lovely and thoughtful things about Dean, and his relationship to Cas, which i believe is super relevant because me and my small group of friends who suffer from Winchester Derangement Syndrome are 99.9% sure The Winchesters is not what it is on its face, and is in fact jensen's own fix-it for the series finale of spn. which in and of itself is amazing. boy really said 'i fucking hated that ending, gonna go write a new one' like the (secret) fangirl he is. this week's episode of TW (1x12 "The Tears of a Clown") felt so lovingly directed at all of those folks (obviously, myself included XD) who've been clowning about destiel from the beginning, and tbh the resolution to the motw made it feel like the message of the episode was: telling the truth turns clowning into reality. i intend to edit this response to include a frame from one of the panels at JIB, because someone asked what the reunion between Dean and Cas would look like, and jensen gave what seems to be, these days, a very jensen answer which was to answer seriously and then pass it off as a joke (like the ily --- like a bro thing from VanCon back in october of '22). but i think the smile on his face screams "i know something y'all don't know" and it has sent me. i could also talk about the very destiel-flavored lyrics from the newest Radio Company album, too, but i don't know if tumblr posts have a word limit 😂 lol thanks for asking and sorry if this is more long-winded than you were expecting. you were my very first ask and i may have gotten carried away! 😅 eta 03.02.23: please ignore my fuckery i forgot how tumblr works for a hot minute

I’m not totally ready to write Jensen off as an actor or a person, yet. But, his fans are so ridiculous it makes me like him less to spite them. I can’t help it. It’s like a instinctive response, like the Destiel or Cockles effect, for me. The fans are so idiotic that I can’t stand the mention of either stupid ship. Well, Jensen’s fans are so simpering it makes me care less when he does do something good.

But back to the point, the bar of amazement for them is set so low, literally, he can converse with more than one person at a time, at a con, which he’s being doing for more than ten years, regularly, and it’s a wonder to them.

I find this all especially annoying because these same people who are fascinated and awed by Jensen's every sniffle, downplay Jared's actually impressive achievements. "He works near home, he stayed on the CW, he produced a show to give himself a job, he only made a spinoff because Jensen did…etc.". Jared could cure cancer and adopt a hundred orphans, and they’d ignore it or try to make it a negative. Then Jensen would put a bandaid on his own kid, and they’d be campaigning to get him a Nobel peace prize or whatever the medical equivalent is.

Make these dummies make sense.

You're not the only one his fans are alienating! There have been some annoyed fans of other projects (like The Boys, and Big Sky), who also find the AAs over-the-top, 'the-savior-has-arrived' praise incredibly off-putting, and frankly, insulting to all the other creators who were there before Jensen ever arrived.

And can I just say, in all seriousness, thank you for all of your hard work and willingness to be a teacher. It's an incredibly tough job, and often thankless, so, while this isn't tangible, please accept this digital award for all the work you do to guide the young minds in your care!

Me, a small-ish discord server owner, reading the notes on this post like: 🤔🤔 these are all valid concerns, but maybe y’all just haven’t found the right home.

My thoughts on tumblr vs discord in the fandom space is that they’re not a one or other, they should be used to boost and enhance each other.

I will admit that I have been burnt by big servers before, and I have landed in a few more that have immediately overwhelmed me and made me nope out, but I have also had some amazing conversations with people I never would have reached out to before if I’d only been following them on tumblr.

When I created @sunshineshellers I had a very clear goal. I saw a gap in the cockles/destiel corner of the spn fandom for people who needed to be able to talk freely without fear of judgement. Screaming into the void of tumblr (as so many of us with less than 200 followers do) isn’t always enough to satiate a full blown fandom spiral. It’s nice to have somewhere where you can say “is this something…?” and actually get a response, but so many spn servers sweep cockles into a dusty corner, which makes people who perceive feel like dirty little outcasts.

I love tumblr, I love spnblr, and it’s great for big brain thoughts like this, and for finding and sharing so many beautiful creations, and for collective meltdowns when something noteworthy comes to light.

But some of *my* best “content” comes to me inside the group chatter of my pocket family. A community of people who Get It is a treasured commodity in this life that can look like a hodge-podge group of people from all over the world coming together to scream incoherently about our shared love of Supernatural. We don’t agree all the time, but that’s okay because we care about each other because we understand the passion and love having somewhere that makes fandom feel less empty.

I’m not saying all this to convince you to join my server and say you must love discord cos I do. I’m saying this just to point out that much like you curate your tumblr dash to your personal preferences, you curate your discord experience to your personal preferences too, and there could be a whole corner of this community just waiting to hear your thoughts if only you’d give them a chance. 💖

What I find really annoying is that the “I’m all three” tweet spread so fast half in response to fans being so desperate for him to say something that nullified the “I was a young, good-looking, white, heterosexual man” quote from a week and a 1/2 before it. JUST like now. He’s trying to acknowledge his own privilege, and most of his own fans can’t stand to hear it, and still claim to respect his privacy while stalking alma’s account to try to get more data to back up their bias.

I assume since you are sending me an ask you also likely follow me so you'll know I do enjoy cockles a lot. HOWEVER, the lengths some people will go to 'prove' that Misha & Jensen are involved is frankly ridiculous. And the Alma thing is one of the most ridiculous out of the bunch imo. And tbh people calling any of it hard proof is just... not ideal. We will never know what goes in between these men and to me that is part of the fun ngl. I just went on a tangent here just to say that I have a hunch that those fans would probably not be kind to Misha even if he up and decided to date a guy that is not Jensen. And tbh I cannot be mad at them, because deep down I know that most of Cockles' appeal, to me at least, is due to never getting closure re Destiel.

With Misha it's always good to keep in mind that that man will say words recreationally. So both of those statements you are talking about are equally true and equally bullshit. Or were true at some point in time and then they weren't. It's always ambiguous with him and that is what qualifies him as queer, to me.

I totally agree that he always tries to acknowledge his privileges and tbh he is doing a better job of that than what you'd think looking at some of the replies he gets on twitter.

I’m looking for that pic of him where he’s with a fan in line (for food maybe?). I think it was taken in September or October of this year and posted first on Twitter. I think he may have been wearing a backwards hat. I also think the next day he was photographed again by another fan/guy in a bar or restaurant. He may have been the waiter. Jensen was also scruffy looking I think.

9) Sam and Jack use he/them pronouns

10) No one in TFW is not a part of the LGBTQ+ community

11) Tumblr has exploded multiple times

12) We are going to super gay heaven in Latin America

14) Supernatural will go down in history as the maddest fandom ever
