1939 Duesenberg COUPE SIMONE
The Duesenberg Coupe "Simone," was a request made by the cosmetics magnate Gui(Guy) De La Roche as a gift for his young lover Simone.
The story begins, as many romances do, in France. Yet, in many ways it is an American story. The story of two immigrants, Emmett Hardnock and Armand Minasian. It is a story filled with the excitement, the creative energy of the early automotive age, and a story of our time, our chance happenings and dogged research.
The year was 1936, The French cosmetics king Gui De LaRouche had just attended the world premier of the film The Clearing Cloud. Watching the film, he was particularly impressed by an automobile driven by the leading man. After making several inquiries, he learned that the automobile's gorgeous body was the creation of Emmet - Armand Coachworks of America located in Green Brier, Pennsylvania.

1941 Chrysler Newport Dual Cowl Phaeton
Hollywood Actress Lana Turner's 1941 Chrysler Newport Dual Cowl Phaeton.
Chrysler liked this show car so much it built six of them. By the early 1940s the public was more favorably disposed to streamlining than they were when the 1934 Airflows were introduced, so Chrysler revisited the theme with the 1941 Newport. The four-door dual-cowl phaetons had aluminum body panels, aircraft-style instruments, and dual folding windshields. They were built by the LeBaron coachworks on off-the-shelf frames and running gear. Custom touches included hideaway headlamps and door handles. Actress Lana Turner once was the proud owner of one appropriately hued in red.
Another paced the 1941 Indianapolis 500.

Boat tails tales - Part 2: Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Boattail Tourer, 1932. The Phantom II was Henry Royce’s last design and featured a massive 7,668 cc OHV inline 6-cylinder engine. This particular car began life with Thrupp & Maberly saloon coachwork but was re-bodied as a boat-tailed touring car in the 1970s.
