I just remembered that up until 5th grade, all of the sports teams I was in weren't separated by gender. I played basketball and baseball with boys. And we did just fine.

It wasn't until 6th grade when they segregated it by gender. It didn't make sense to me. I was now in softball instead of baseball, because "softball is for girls" and "baseball is for boys" (which confused me bc my dad was on an adult softball team).

Now, my brother's all-male team didn't win a single game. My all-girls team won every single one.

They presented the boys' team with this HUGE trophy, and if you wanted replicas of it, they were $30 each.

My team was presented with a very small trophy. Extras were $5.

That's when I decided gender-segregated sports were bullshit.

fun fact, in america when your kid joins a club, sometimes the school will unceremoniously add you to a parent's club about the club. This club will send you ten billion emails, ask for free labor, solicit money (separate from the fee to join and for equipment), and seem to never inform you of important events and meetings until it's far too late to ask off of work.

Sometimes I really wish my day to day life as a captain of my overly problematic sport team and college student felt a bit less than aftg (can my dear vice-captain stop bringing knives to matches ???? Pretty please ???? (And for fuck's sake quit calling me Kevin and learn to play)) But other times I watch the inherently homoerotic relationship between two feral teammates and I remember that chaotic misfit lowkey stabby sport team captain is the life I choose to live (I very much didn't choose this, I m still confused about how I got recruited in any team after the accident™️) 😂😂😂😂

Maple Leafs discourse on their team social medias makes me lose brain cells because wdym they're first in their division and coming off a 5 game win streak & people are commenting that the top players are only in it for the money and have no drive, that particular players are useless and need to be traded asap, that they're a garbage team, that they'll never make it past the first round just because they lost one game.

Apparently because they are being payed handsomely the players must be mindless automatons who perform perfectly every night. It drives me absolutely nuts how quickly alleged fans will completely turn on their own team.

What's the sports situation like in Easthaven? I'd imagine they have no teams since they dont rly have any competition, but are any sports common there as a popular way to pass time and stay active?

Easthaven does actually have (high school and middle school) sports! Not football (as much as I would like it), but basketball and volleyball and tennis. Maybe they could squeeze out baseball teams if they were mixed gender.

There is an all-grades Christian private school alongside the public schools, and they can each scrounge up enough players to make teams for smaller sports. This gives people something to do! It's a little boring, always playing against the same team, but it's what they’ve got.

Single-person sports like track or swimming are also popular.

For adults, there's 100% a softball beer league, and I could also see beach volleyball being a thing that goes on. Lots of people swim and run, as well, and you don't need many people for tennis. Adult sports are way more casual--they don't really have an audience--but ppl still enjoy playing them!

We know that Shinichi's leg strength is stronger, right? Maybe that makes it easier for him to jump higher than the others. Maybe he can do the dunk thing? (or MAYBE He also like to play football. His friends would think that makes sense for his leg muscles to be so strong.)

And for Kaito, UGHH, I really like Kise. Kise reminds me of Kaito, A LOT. His charm and childishness!! 😭😭

Okay, maybe for Kaito, he will easily avoid blocks. Because he's a phantom. You know? :333 And maybe he doesn't really like playing basketball? Because that's not his thing. BUT– *cough* He is interested in playing basketball because he wants to compete with Shinichi.

I don't think they will be team leaders. Tho, if Gosho Boys applies here, Saguru will probably be the team leader. And for Heiji, he could go to the same school as Shinichi and become an basketball player too because.. why not? I like it if Heiji follows where Shinichi is 🤷 (But it would be more interesting if he would be attracted to Hakuba 😏)

And yes, Saguru is on the same team as Kaito and Heiji is on the same team as Shinichi. They will face each other on the basketball court someday. And that's what's exciting >:D
