And yes it's definitely my personality (not just mine) to be neurotic about things that need doing. I need to finish subtitling my pornography and writing this next bit of my novel and I need to produce the love song I wrote recently. But it's been a long day. I had to hop a chain link fence with a backpack of groceries that probably legit weighed 60lb. I carried furniture. I brought a Rug Doctor Pro both up and down a flight of stairs. I am done for the day, I'm done! Fuck it! Garbage for dinner (French toast and bacon toaster strudel) and weed soda for me and my besties.

Mom helped a ton with getting the carpet shampooed, so this place will be a lot more livable. We still need to give it a second round on Friday in the problem areas, but tonight, I just wanna get high and play Wild Rift. I've been listening to Pentakill all day and it put me in a mood!

Use of Rollers for Compaction in Road Construction

In road construction, compaction is a very important process. This is because the overall quality of the road depends on the quality of compaction. Rollers are some of the most efficient compaction equipment that guarantees high quality compaction.

Initially, farmers used horse drawn rollers to prepare their planting fields as well as minor construction of temporary paths and roads. Later on, the steam engine powered rollers were introduced. This increased their effectiveness and efficiency, realizing high quality compaction.

As much as the use of steam engines helped eradicate some limiting factors that were experienced with the horse drawn rollers like exhaustion, they were still slow and environmentally unfriendly because of the exhaust fumes they produced. This was however improved on by the invention of the new and improved internal combustion engine which was even more efficient than its steam counterpart. This created room for faster speeds as well as better compaction since the design of the roller was also improved.

Use In Road Construction

Currently, diesel powered rollers are the most common and are mainly used in road construction and are more efficient compared to the initial models. Diesel-powered rollers come in various models like the pedestrian operated type, the ride on smooth finish rollers and the ride on landfill.

The compaction operation of a roller greatly depends on the weight of the entire vehicle which determines the size of compression force employed. Their basic design generally consists of a heavy and bulky big drum-like part which provides most of the compression force, a set of wheel to facilitate mobility and a propulsion engine. In road construction, different types of rollers are used at different stages based to attain a different overall result.

The Compaction Process

The pad foot drum rollers are usually the first to be used by constructors in the initial compaction of the substrate. The pads ensure a smaller surface area which in turn provides more compaction density of the soil.

The single smooth drum compactor is employed for compressing the bumps and high spots on the road until all the soil is level. This is used together with a motor grader to ensure that the whole surface is leveled. At this stage, a pneumatic tyre roller may be used to provide a kneading action on the surface of the road. This is done after the ground is even to ensure maximum effectiveness.
