Journal Prompt # 1 A letter to my younger self

Dear 16-year-old me,

Getting older makes me a little sentimental and I get to ponder about some what-ifs. If only I could talk to my younger self and tell her the things I wish I knew when I was 16. So I made a love letter enumerating the few things I learned now that I wish I had known when I was your age.

Stop being a people-pleaser. People-pleasing will take a toll on your mental health. It’s okay to be kind and helpful but your constant need for approval from others will only jeopardize your inner peace. It’s time for you to find your voice and set clear boundaries. The only person I want you to please is you.

Stop caring about what people think about you. It’s pointless to worry about what others think. It does not pay to care too much about others’ opinions of you because no one truly knows you. Only you can make yourself happy. Don’t count on others to validate how you feel about yourself. You have to take steps to find validation from within if you want to be truly happy and successful.

Stop forcing yourself to be an extrovert only because it’s what society tells you to be; when in fact, you’re naturally an introvert. Being an introvert is awesome and there are many delightful benefits of being an introvert. So embrace your introversion, read a book and enjoy your solitude.

You don’t need to be perfect. I know that you feel pressured to look a certain way. You think you’re not pretty enough, you’re not sexy enough, attractive enough, smart enough. You’re perfectly imperfect. Happiness comes from truly and unapologetically loving yourself.

It’s okay to feel different. Embrace your quirkiness as there will be someone (your future husband 😉 ) who will wholeheartedly accept your weirdness and find your quirks attractive. You just have to show your authentic self and embrace it.

You don’t need to fit in to make friends. And it is okay to not have many friends. The bottom line is it doesn’t matter how many friends you have. Surround yourself with positive people and people who genuinely care. They’re the ones worth keeping in your life. Everyone else is just passing through. Quality over quantity. Always.

You are precious. You have been chosen for a very particular task in furthering God’s kingdom. Hang in there. It will be worth it.

Above all, don’t worry about anything. It will work out in the end. You’ve got this.

Ohio County School Robotics Hosting VEX VRC Competition

OCS Robotics is pleased to present The Gateway to the West Signature Event.  This VEX VRC Robotics Competition is scheduled to take place at The Highlands Sports Complex with middle school teams competing on Jan. 31 and Feb.1 and high school teams competing on Feb. 2 and 3.  The competition runs daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with free admission for all spectators. This Signature Event is only one of 25 in the world and is the only VEX Robotics Signature Event in the state of WV.  Participants are joining the competition from 15 states and Ontario, Canada.  Currently, 74 high school teams and 65 middle school teams are scheduled to compete.  Tournament winners will qualify for the VEX World Championships in Dallas, Texas.   Sponsored by and according to the REC Foundation, “This tournament is one in a series of events supported by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation.  The competition season culminates each spring, with the top-performing teams from the state levels competing against each other at the VEX Robotics World Championship.” OCS Robotics is in its 3rd year with countywide, competitive teams with a total of 19 robotics teams across both middle school and high school levels.   Six teams represent Wheeling Park High School and 13 teams represent the various middle schools of Ohio County. The event has a variety of sponsors making the competition possible. *𝗕𝗢𝗖-𝗡𝗔𝗜𝗔, 𝗣𝗗𝗘𝗔, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗔𝗜𝗔-𝗜𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗚 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗽25.3𝗠 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 Methamphetamine, 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 Malaysian Passenger*

In furtherance of the campaign of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) against illegal drugs, the BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), apprehended a Malaysian traveller, who originated from Madagascar via Addis Ababa through Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 644, carrying packages of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride concealed inside his luggage.

The passenger's luggage underwent rigorous screening, including x-ray scanning, and a thorough physical examination, which led to the discovery of 3.722 kilograms of Methamphetamine concealed inside the luggage lining, with an estimated value of Php25,308,600.00 as confirmed by PDEA.

“This apprehension is a product of the strengthened commitment of our officers to protect our borders from the entry of illicit goods. I commend the Port and our partner agencies in this successful interdiction and suppression of drug smuggling,” says Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio.

The arrested passenger will be prosecuted for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Drug Act, and Republic Act No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

Under the leadership of District Collector, Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, the BOC-NAIA remains steadfast in the performance of the Port’s mandates, especially in protecting the country’s borders.

Last September 28, 2023, two (2) Singaporean Nationals were also arrested for carrying Php76.1M worth of cocaine from Doha, Qatar.

Swiss Bank Cité Gestion Becomes First Private Bank to Tokenize Its Own Shares

The private bank has partnered with digital assets platform Taurus to issue and manage its tokenized shares.

Swiss banks have a conveniently adapted regulation to tokenize shares and use them as securities.

Cité Gestion (CGE), a private bank founded in 2009 in Genève, Switzerland, will become the first independent bank to tokenize its own shares. Utilizing Taurus’ services and insights, the bank strives to seamlessly adopt blockchain technology. Will CGE set a new standard for private banking?

Tokenization allows traditional finance (TradFi) entities to onboard more investors to the Web3 era. It is the process of transferring traditional assets into digital tokens that are traded and stored on a blockchain network.

The move is expected to create new possibilities for investors and shareholders of CGE. Beyond, the integration of cryptography and Web3 technologies revolutionize the payment infrastructure of banks. Blockchain solutions offer increased transactional speed and scalability, as well as enhanced security.

Following Switzerland’s adapted legislation, passed in 2021, tokenized securities traded on a blockchain were given the same legal standing as traditional assets. Regulated crypto banks SEBA and Sygnum issued tokenized securities to mark the occasion. CGE took its time, making use of the legislation three years later.
