OFFICIAL RETAIL RELEASE DATE:
NORTH AMERICA - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th / 10 PM EST / 7 PM PST JAPAN - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th, 11 AM JST EUROPE - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th, 4 AM CEST
The Dune is the signature return top for Anthony Rojas.
Designed by Chris Mikulin to incorporate all of Anthony's favorite features in a return top, the Dune features a unique weight distribution makes it play faster than anything else in the CLYW line, making it one of the most contest-ready monometals we've made to date. The curves, both on the profile and inner cup of this return top, speak directly to Anthony's own design sensibilities. Drawing on past return tops that Anthony has competed with but refined to truly fit his tricks, the Dune carries forth a new level of playability for Anthony with plenty of that CLYW style you've come to love.
Anthony and Chris worked closely to get this one *just right* and we hope you love it as much as we do.
This special Artist Edition Dune has three new colorways based on Anthony's own photography. The pin colors reflect that, and included with the return top are custom strings. We collaborated with Zipline Strings to produce a blend that complimented Anthony's play style and accentuated the speed of the Dune, and produced them in colors that complimented the overall theme. Included with each yoyo is also a 5" x 7" print of the original photo that inspired the colorway.

Dropping everything to go full-time freelance is scary.
I haven’t done it yet, but I’m highly considering it. It’s looking better and better every day.
Lately I’ve been feeling really disenfranchised with the whole “PNW photographer living on the road” stereotype. I don’t want to be that. It’s been done, and it’s starting to get boring seeing the same photos of the same places from different people all the time. But on the other hand, just existing with a 9-5 job that bores me to death isn’t really winning either.
I want to do something different. I want to bring more to the table than the typical “look at how cool my life is, follow me and throw money at me so I can keep doing this while you sit at home and don’t” that most vloggers and photographers are throwing out there constantly. I want to incorporate more than just photo and video work into what I do, because those are great, but they really shine when they’re used to highlight something more interesting. Taking a picture of something isn’t inherently interesting - it’s the subject matter and the story behind it that make it compelling. So I want to try something different. I want to incorporate my other interests into my work, and create something that everyone can enjoy, regardless of whether or not you’re into photography, video, yoyoing, music, gaming, or whatever the hell it is that I’m doing that day.
So I’ve been live streaming for a while now. I think it’s a healthy alternative to vlogging because not as many people are doing it right now, and it allows for some really cool real-time engagement between me and the viewers that you just don’t get from video comments or questions after-the-fact. It’s really only been practice sessions for yoyoing so far, but I want to expand that and start doing something different each day. I have the privilege of being supported by CLYW, so yoyoing will inherently be my focus for now, at least until I get things running consistently, but I’d love to hear what you guys want to see in the future. I’m still going to be shooting photos, that will never change. I still want to book clients, go on adventures, and shoot beautiful landscapes. That will always be my main passion. But I think there are so many more things to incorporate into the content I’m creating that I don’t want to box myself in. There are so many more things to do each day, and I want to paint the full picture for everyone who takes the time to tune in.
I’m just out here tryna be different. I hope that’s enough.

Best Budget Unresponsive Throws
Some professional yo-yo's can cost upwards of $70. Not everyone can afford throws like that. This post is for those people. Here are the two best throws (one plastic, one metal) that you can get for under $30.
MagicYoYo Purple Line -$18 (Metal)
It seems to be a commonly held point of view, dare I say, common misconception, that MagicYoYo is a "cheap" company, and their yo-yo's "can't hold a candle to premium companies like CLYW". This could not be further from the truth, especially since they're made in the same factory, on the same machines. The MagicYoYo Purple Line is one of the highest performing yo-yo's for the price. Bead-blasted finish, and smooth as butter (I'm not kidding, you can't even feel the thing spinning). For $18, you really can't get a better throw. One drawback: it doesn't actually come in purple (I know, right?).
YoYo Zeekio Spectre - $25 (plastic)
This is hands-down the best plastic throw I've ever used. The bearing seat and fingerspin cup are made of metal, while the body is made of a durable polycarbonate. So this thing will SPIN; through fingerspins, grinds, sleepers, you name it. Although it was designed to be unresponsive, I've discovered that you can put a slim C-size bearing in it, and it becomes a killer responsive throw as well. Similar to the aforementioned Purple Line, it's so smooth you can't even feel the thing spinning. But unlike the Purple Line, this yo-yo only comes in purple (at least the metal part does).
