Underrated PJO Charater Headcannons

You can try and dig these from below my coffin. I will throw hands for these, hands rated E for everybody.

Chthonic children are and should be collectively feared. Like, yes Nico is scary, but so would be other children of the Underworld.

Damian White, the half brother of Ethan Nakamura is looked at with fear from those who truly didn't know Ethan, fearing he would be just like his brother.

Lou Ellen Blackstone is better at traveling than the Hermes campers, like Hecate is also the Goddess of Crossroads.

Clovis is immune to the River of Lethe water, it does nothing to him. (I personally think he tried to drink it after the first war just to try and forget all who died.)

After Castor dies in battle and Pollux sees him, he drove campers and enemy demi-gods insane by accident.

Those of the Hermes cabin were shamed for a little bit after Luke's betrayal.

Some children of Athena possess telekinetic or telepathic abilities. (Personally think Malcolm has these abilities.)

okay but being a hypnos kid in chb seems so bomb lol all they do is sleep with comfortable feathery mattresses in a room of laundry fragrance and occasionally help out with dream travel or interrupting other people's nightmares and all that. I'm pretty sure they're not involved in battles either bc they'd fall asleep midway and that's risky lol. They seem to be the only demigods in chb who atleast remotely have peaceful lives.

Unpopular opinion (if it not this time then I'm safe from not being bashed by angry fans forever): Nico di Angelo shouldn't have stayed at Camp Half-blood at the end of HoO.

Listen,I have my problems with CHB (and CJ),no one of them are safe from my treatment when it cames to Nico mistreatment,literally no one is innocent there. And if it's not for Nico,then for Percy's mistreatment or the pressure they put on Thalia when she only come back from being a tree. Demigods at both camps take one look at a child of a Big Three God and ask themselves "Is anyone gonna mistreatment that?",without waiting for an answer.

I like Nico character development and his quest with Hedge and Reyna was probably the push he needed to understand that there are people that care for him,and it's ok to let them in. He come out of his shell,even if only a little,and started to not feel the "outsider" like always. It's mean he is finally starting healing for real,after 7 books full of pain. But his decision to stay at CHB? Where no one,beside Percy and Annabeth,showed to care for him? The same place where he felt so left out? Full of judgmental people ready to not hear him out and accuse of everything because of who is father is? No,I can't stand that. Nico would never come back in a place he knew he isn't welcomed.

Before the start of HoO,it's implied that at the end of PJO Nico started to live at camp right? With his own cabin and anything else. But with Percy disappearance the situation went back to 0 for him,after all Percy was still the only one who was fully comfortable with him. Before TLH he was already helping Annabeth in her research,and during the time-skip of 6 moths it's unclear what happened to him. But since he was there for Percy arrival at CJ,and they were already familiar with him,I don't think he stayed a lot of time at CHB. He already was doing back and forth between the two camps at the start of everything,and either Piper,Leo,Jason and Annabeth pointed out if he was at camp all the time or not. The only thing we know is that the Aphrodite's cabin thought he had a crush for Annabeth,since he was always helping her in the research (we all know how that went),but no one of them ever commented on Nico staying at camp. And he wasn't there for TLH (before Jason,Piper and Leo went on their quest,and when they come back). And since he didn't want to come back to neither of the 2 camps after the war and prophecy,I believe he stayed most of the time in the Underworld. And if not in the Underworld,then on his own (again).

So,again for the second time,CHB campers were shit to him,even after part of their victory during the final battle with Kronos was thanks to his army of undead. Apparently saving their lifes didn't count for shit when it cames to Nico. First time wasn't enough.

Nico didn't had a reason (yet) to stay at CHB after HoO. Everyone still was wary of him,even after everything he did,and Nico himself wasn't comfortable with almost all of them expect a few. He wanted to leave because he knew he wasn't going to be welcomed,the first two times it went the same way after all,why bother for a third when he knew what would happen already?

But most of this reasoning can also fall on the rush of his decision,which is also something I don't like for all the things I wrote already. BoO final battle is a mess,we all know that,it's not even 10 pages long (TLO had half of the book only for the final boss battle) and Gaia is defeat by a flying guy with a girl that has a good voice,and a guy that can put himself on fire,sitting on a dragon,that went with it. Rick really wasted himself here and it was extremely rushed,so everything else felt also rushed.

One page Nico is "I don't want to stay at CHB or CJ,I don't belong here!" and 5 pages after he is "I think I'm staying,this place it's not so bad" to Jason. And that's not how it work.

Realistically Nico should have walked away and returned to the Underworld,while visiting for Hedge,Percy and Will (he will probably hunt him down once he knew he is there to try and be his friend) and occasionally helping CHB when there is something going on,and visiting CJ for Hazel and Reyna. Let him grow on his own and out of CHB toxicity,while also trying to strengthen the relationship he already has and trying to create others. There are cabins for children of minor chthonic gods at camp too (Hecate,Hypnos,Nemesis,ecc),let Nico have some connection with them. He already know Clovis (Hypnos cabin) and he isn't weird out by him,so let Nico grow that friendship. Hecate cabin should be close to him since their mother is his sister mentor and their parents work together. Nemesis children value justice and balance,a philosophy that Nico share with them and take in consideration when it came to dealing with his enemy/people disrespecting the dead. Let him build little by little a good emotional support in people he can actually trust at camp,while in the meantime his relationship with his dad start to heal and he gets closer to Persephone.

He doesn't need to rush his decision,he has to grow into it. If he stays st CHB is because he want to,not because Jason,Will or someone else want him there even with all the mistreatment he could face again. And I can see it totally happening during ToA,where at the end of the serie he decide he want to try again because now he is aware of having people there for him. He finally has that motivation to stay.

This is how it should have gone,instead of Nico changing his mind without even a motivation in just 4 pages. There is so much hurt in being shunned away by everyone you met,knowing full well you will never be part of their "perfect little friend group" because you are the weird one. Because people want someone to use as escape goat when shit gets real and needs help,but don't even try to get to know you. You can't change that just because a guy asked if you want to stay. That's not how this type of pain and healing works.

It's always funny to see the new campers' reactions when they hear that Clovis is dating you.

"Really? (Y/N) and Clovis? But she's so energetic and he's...not."

Honestly, many people feel bad for you because Clovis is not an ideal boyfriend. He's not exactly... what's the word? Present.

You're singing along by the campfire? He's sleeping on a log nearby. You're training to enhance your fighting skills? He's drooling all over shields. You're having a meeting with the other counsilors? He's dozing off beside you.

Not to mention, THIS BOY MANAGES TO FALL ASLEEP IN THE WORST OF SITUATIONS.

"(Y/N)! Wake your boyfriend up, the empousai almost killed him!"

"I swear to the gods, love! We are in the middle of a battle!"

He's a heavy sleeper, deal with it.

However, he tries to stay awake a little longer for your sake. Do the others take advantage of that? Yes. 😂

The best method to keep him awake is by kissing his chubby cheeks, squeezing him in your hold, or ruffling that tangled, blonde hair.

You will hear whines of complain but once you stop, he will rub his head against you and ask you to continue. He's like a cat.

Naps together is a must! Clovis will drag you to Cabin 15 if he has to, you can't refuse. Not that you will.

Also provides you with the fluffiest of pillows, softest of blankets, and the most delicious milk you ever tasted (not that type of milk, you dirty minded-👁️👄👁️)

He may not take you on a date the normal way but he will use his ability to manipulate dreams— joining yours and his.

There, you can be wherever you want to. At the top of Eiffel Tower, swimming in the sunken Titanic ship, or performing with your favorite artist on a stage.

Anything you want, Clovis will make it happen. It's his way of making up to you, I suppose.

He always mutters your name in his sleep with a dreamy smile on his face. This often gets him teased by his siblings, or anyone else who witnesses it happen.

"Seriously (Y/N), I heard him moan your name!"

"Leo, stop it."

"It's true, it was a very good dream."

"Clovis!"

I don't think he ever gets assigned to any quests but you do. He's still asleep whenever you say goodbye to him but expect that he'll visit you in your dreams.

He'll ask how you're day went, updates with what's going on in Camp Half-Blood, spilling the usual tea; that kind of stuff. I assume time stops in dream land so you and Clovis have all the time in the world.

He will also visit dreams of the people you're on a quest with, warning them that if something happens to you they will never wake up again. This boy can be dark, don't test him.

You still wonder why all of them are so overprotective over you.

Hypnos seems to approve of your relationship because ever since you started dating his son, you never had trouble falling asleep again.

PJO abilities that should belong to other people - a fake fan's opinion

So this is meant to be a fun post. Just a list of qualities or abilities that belong to a character that I think should belong to another.

I haven't seriously read HOO or any series after that so I don't have much opinion on that.

The most attractive (male) demigod at CHB (Luke)

This really should be a child of Apollo or Aphrodite. Like that Lee guy from the Apollo cabin. Why aren't there more Aphrodite sons? Love and beauty are not female things Rick.

Best at battle strategy (Annabeth, Percy)

I know Percy is a smart guy but Percy having the best strategies is such a MC thing. This title really should belong to a war god child like Annabeth, Clarisse or Frank. Like Annabeth may be best at pre-battle strategy but Clarisse is best at improv strategies in the heat of battle. Frank could be great at both.

Shape shifting (Frank)

Why the hell does this ability belong to Frank when Neptune or Poseidon (I don't care enough to look up which) is such a far-removed ancestor?? This ability should belong to a child of Hermes as the trickster god!

Manipulating underworld rivers (Percy)

I honestly don't see how this makes sense! Can Daddy P control the Lethe and other rivers? I think this ability should belong to a descendant of both Hades and Poseidon.

Demigod dreams (all demigods)

This is a me thing but I think this should mainly belong to children of Hypnos and Morpheus. I don't see why all demigods should have this ability. At the very least, only kids of these gods should be able to control their dreams.

Fire resistance (Percy)

I don't see why Percy has this ability either. This really should be a Cyclops and children of Hephaestus thing.

Super fast reflexes (Percy)

I am sure there was a scene where Percy sliced arrows mid-air. I think this should be a child of Hermes or war god child thing.

Putting people to sleep (Nico)

There was this part in HOO where Nico mentions ensuring people are put to sleep. Like why does Nico have this ability? This skill should be Clovis'.

Boosts that improve fighting ability (Percy)

I totally agree that water should increase Percy's stamina and strength. But not his fighting ability. Poseidon is not a war god! Being in water shouldn't give Percy the ability to beat Luke in a sword lesson. Or perform fighting manoeuvres against a monster. Or beat an entire cabin of bloodthirsty Ares kids. This should be an Ares kid thing. Not even Athena, but just Ares. Not sure what the boost would be but this really makes Percy look so OP in book 1.

I can't believe Rick wrote the children of the king of the gods as the most reasonably powered of the big three kids. What irony.

Ω PJO MISCELLANEOUS DEMIGOD HEADCANONS: 💤 MORPHEUS: GOD OF DREAMS 💤

A/N: I see you Morpheus demigods out there, this is for you. Also because in the books, there was a reference that there are demigods of Morpheus, but we don't really see any but they exist sort of? When you get claimed, you have a very similar experience to the children of Hypnos; where it involves sleep. However, instead of falling asleep as soon as you get a claim like a Hynos demigod, you have a dream where Morpheus used his realm to meet you and basically say, “You are my child” while everyone is forcibly evicted from their sleep and dreams to see the claim hanging above your dead-asleep body.

You were still dead-asleep in the dream realm and after Morpheus left, cause this was a major gray zone he was doing, a chosen child of Hypnos would appear in your dream and give you the down-low, while the rest of them had to trudge up the Hermes cabin where you were in, and basically carry you to the Morpheus cabin. Why you may ask? Well Morpheus’ claim was dreams and touching your vicinity would make anyone else fall asleep and have either a russian roulette of forced dreams; whether they were good or bad dreams, no one knew but anyone who had fallen under the spell would not wake up easily. The only exceptions to this case were the children of Hypnos and a few children of Hecate. 

So your first morning as a child of Morpheus would be greeted by the children of Hypnos looking down on you as you stared up at their eyes and a new roof of the Morpheus cabin. What a way to wake up.

Being a child of Morpheus obviously deals with dreams and sleep, but your powers are more in the former than latter… and no, it’s not Morbin time. Yes you have the power to make someone fall asleep but you can’t hypnotise someone like a child of Hypnos.

 At the minimum, you can give someone a nice daydream or daymare (day-nightmare) and making someone fall asleep and manipulate their dreams. To the max, if you’re a powerful Morpheus demigod, you know and can see people’s dreams, peering into their psyche as if to even bring it into the reality. You can also bring their nightmare to life and truly make it a living nightmare.

With Morpheus being also referred to as the Sand-man, you also inherited this aspect. You can manipulate sand or dream-sand to be exact, and you can use that as your advantage. Think of Sandy from the movie “Rise of the Guardians”.

While the children of Hypnos have this duty as well, they’re basically chronically asleep so you’re the next person to go for deciphering dreams. You make good business in helping people decipher their dreams, to see what the future is talking about and the occasional love drama you get from the children of Aphrodite. On a serious note, the children of Morpheus act as consultations on dreams; especially if they are Prophetic dreams. While prophecies are not your realm, you learn a thing or two from the children of Apollo and Hecate (maybe sometimes even from the gods themselves), deciphering dreams based on symbols, places, and etc.

On the flipside, Morpheus is also considered the messenger of the gods who appeared in the dream of kings in human guise, so you’re also relegated as messengers of the messengers of the gods.  Depending on how you feel, it is either awkward, terrible, fun, or an honour in delivering messages to certain recipients that you get from your dreams. How you feel depends on the context of the message and who you have to deliver it to. You did not enjoy delivering a message to Clarisse la Rue from her godly half-brothers Phobos and Deimos, nor did not absolutely enjoy almost feeling the wrath of her spear and rage. This is why people keep saying, “don’t shoot the messenger”

You’re also chronically tired ™ like your Hypnos cousins, but just 40% of the time. Instead of falling asleep like your cousins, people often find you daydreaming and being in your own little world

Your godly father’s reputation precedes you in more ways, with him being responsible putting all of Manhattan to sleep during the Titan War, and in the Roman’s eyes, they stiffen around you and act very tense on the job, as Morpheus’ Roman side, Somnia, alongside his father Hypnos, Somnus (r.), killed those who weren’t alert at their jobs.

Despite being the child of Morpheus, the god of Dreams, there’s a good chance that you don’t have many dreams yourself. It could be because you are perfectly able to lucid dream or are like the children of Hypnos who enter people’s dreams and float through the astral realms, or your dreams are hijacked being a messenger of the gods, dealing and talking to gods, or having to oversee people’s dreams; no matter how you feel on it. You’re also busy taking people’s bad dreams away and making them good dreams (or vise-versa), taking that energy to yourself as a sort of substance. However, just like the children of Hypnos, don’t spend your time too much in the other realm or you won’t find yourself coming back to the land of the living.

You felt like you were having a headache but you weren’t really sure if you could have a headache when you were technically passed out and asleep and be lucid dreaming all at the same time. 

Especially when you’re face to face with the man you’ve seen in your dream occasionally, only to be revealed that this entire time he was Morpheus, your godly father who revealed to you just now. 

“Wait, so all this time I thought you were some boogey man that’s been haunting my dreams for years, was you? Morpheus? The god of dreams who is also my father?” you asked, trying to wrap your mind around it. 

“Boogey man, sandman, however the mortals like to call me, they’re all me” said Morpheus as he leaned against his seat. 

“Wait, should you be even talking to me? All the other demigods say that the gods don’t really talk to their own children cause of some law?” you said, panicking. The setting of your dream world shook in response to your emotions. The dreamland you were in was created by Morpheus was modelled after a place you felt more comfortable to you; as he said, it allowed him to see more about you. 

Morpheus waved his hand flippantly, switching and stabilising the dreamland to something else that you were familiar with. 

“Bah, as if they don’t do the same here in the world of the wake and the world of dreams,” said Morpheus with slight distaste, “Besides, the dream world is a different reality that is made and managed between me and my father, Hypnos. I would like them to see them have any thoughts and be barred from seeing their own children in their dreams.” 

“Do gods dream?” you blurted out. 

Morpheus gave you a look that started to make the world around you distort. Your ears were ringing while also sounding like it was being put into a vacuum chamber and it kept building and building until-

Everything was back to normal. 

“Of course we dream” Morpheus stated before he cocked his head to the side. “Now my time has come and by now everyone in that camp knows who you are.”

“Wait what-” 

Morpheus waved his hand and the world distorted for a moment before another kid like you came stumbling in, as Morpheus scoffed. “One of my mortal half-siblings will fill you in the rest. Have a good time and learn well from Chiron, [first name]. Until we meet again.” 

Before you could even process what he said, Morpheus disappeared as he came all of a sudden. 

“I’ll never get used to him doing that” said the mysterious kid. 

“Wait, who are you? What did he mean that everyone in camp knows?” you stammered out.

“Hi, I’m Clovis, son of and cabin leader of the Hypnos cabin” he introduced as he yawned. “That’s why Morpheus referred to me, and the rest of my siblings as mortal half-siblings.” 

“Okay…can we get back to what did Morpheus said that everyone in camp knows? What do they know?”

“Oh, right” said Clovis as he seemed more awake. “Well…apparently, while you were talking with Morpheus, he basically ejected everyone in camp from their sleep to see you being claimed…while you’re still sleeping in the real world.”

“WHAT?!”

“Yeah…even us the children of Hypnos were ejected out too. I’m here to explain everything to you while the rest of us are currently carrying your actual body to your cabin.” 

“Wait, why are you carrying my body?” you asked, your mind reeling from everything.

Clovis waved his hand and showed you what was basically you being carried by a bunch of kids who all shared the baby face appearance. There were also some holding people back and some further ahead to clear a path while you were still dead-asleep like a pile of rocks. All in the dead of the night. The rest of the campers were either looking very sleepy and dead on their feet, or were lighting the path in front of you. 

You felt your face burning as Clovis patted your shoulder. “Yeah…basically Morpheus’ claim is so strong that anyone who is close to you or tries to wake you up puts them to sleep…and while that may not be a problem right now, since it’s night, everyone who touches you gets thrown into a nightmare. So it falls onto us, the children of Hypnos and the few children of Morpheus, to carry you to the Morpheus cabin.”

You had your face in your hands to try and hide but because this was a dream, you could see yourself putting your face in your hands and still witness the scene in front of you. Clovis finally releasing you from your embarrassment waved his hands away to clear the image before he spoke to you. 

“Well…you’re the first child of Morpheus that we’ve had in a while, and the last one isn’t used to this procedure yet so it falls onto me to give you the rundown of everything. Welcome to the Morpheus cabin Cousin” introduced Clovis as you groaned. This dream was actually a nightmare in disguise.
