Okay, I'm on my Shane/Emily bullshit.

I just think about how they're canonically friends. How Emily asks him about the chickens. How Shane asks Emily to film the commercial with him. How they dance together during the flower dance

How Emily can see Shane's depression and wants to make his life brighter. How badly she wants to help him. How she talks about the unhappiness in Pelican Town and I can't help but think she glances at Shane as she says it

She asks for Shane to go first during clothing therapy. She wants to bring out the good in him so badly. She wants him to be happy.

And Shane not wanting to bring her down. Thinking he's dimming the light she naturally has. So wrapped up in his own depression that he doesn't know how Emily can actually care about him. Thinking she asked him to dance just so she won't be asked by Clint

nothing new to add to the watcher fiasco so here's this. not to make it personal but I'm gonna make it personal.

what they get payed per brand deal could pay for a year of uni for me. what they make with patreon per year would change my entire family's life. my 50-60 year old parents could finally drop one of the multiple jobs they have, my sister could spend time with her kids and finally afford a proper wedding, I could go back to much needed therapy. we could travel more and go to concerts and nice restaurants, we could get tattoos and professional haircuts, we could spend money on spoiling our pets, we could buy books and clothes and go to the cinema without having to carefully budget, things the watcher folk do regularly without giving it a second thought. I could buy my best friend with unstable housing an apartment for their family for fucks sake. I'm out here skipping meals on school days because I can't afford to spend £5-10 a day to eat at uni, 'borrowing' necessities from big stores, and missing out on social events or birthdays that involve going out. I've only donated £20 in total in the last couple months to help people in Gaza and it devastates me that I can't donate more. I'm still privileged in many ways, the world is in shambles and regular people are being hit with an economic crisis, where housing and food is hard to secure.

I've been a huge fan of Shane and Ryan since I was thirteen, they were my comfort creators. I even checked their shows and merch to see if I could afford it (no) because I wanted to support them. their content has gone down hill for the past year and I still sat through the forced cringey parts because I used to love their videos. I respected them, they brought me joy and inspired me to create. "we priced it low enough that anyone can afford it". fuck off. day 3 and not even an acknowledgement. this has felt like the biggest "fuck you, poor" ever to me and I'm crushed.

Abigail was filled with envy because Farmer is a man who could wear whatever he wanted and not be told by his parents that he "had to dress properly". Amethyst lover still has to listen from mom that "a lady should wear a skirt" or from dad "a lady should this and that". Ugh... Oh, and Farmer looks gorgeous! Damn, Abby's jealous >:/

"You're such a weirdo, what's with the girly clothes?" Alex should have learnt not to say the first thing that comes to mind out loud, but we all have our flaws. Athlete has nothing bad to say towards the Farmer himself, but clearly doesn't understand his taste in clothing. Neither does he understand why Sebastian is always walking around in black clothes. Farmer looks... alright, Alex think. But he just doesn't get it.

Oh, how happy Emily is to have another person in town who loves to express himself through clothes! Everything is harmoniously matched, the fabric is of the best quality.... And most importantly, the Farmer feels comfortable! The blue-haired girl doesn't care that it's "not for a man". Emily can make clothes for Farmer according to his style, if he doesn't mind of course!

In the past, Abby had been teased for dressing like a boy, and Sebby had been insulted for having long, "girlish" fringes.... More than once Sam has threatened to hit the offenders with his guitar if they keep it up. So if Farmer gets harassed too, he shouldn't hesitate to ask Sam for help. Farmer looks cool, by the way!

To be honest, Farmer's fem style of dressing for Penny is rather extravagant. The young teacher is modest by nature and with old-fashioned ideas about how men and women should dress. On the other hand, she admires Farmer's courage to express himself and not afraid to be judged.

There were at least three times in Sebastian's life when some tourists picked on his "fem look", namely his tight jeans and black-painted nails. The local emo even then knew that judging people by their appearance is a complete nonsense, so he would not react to Farmer's atypical clothes in the bad way. And Farmer look cool, though Sebby is not a fan of his style, preferring everything black.

Yoba, is this the latest collection from the same famous designer that Haley always orders clothes from?! She recognises these clothes anywhere. Haley thought the new farmer always wore dirty overalls. And these clothes look so stylish on him! What? Who frickin cares if the clothes are feminine, the Farmer looks great! Slay! 💅

Shane was about to open his mouth and comment on Farmer's, as he think, ridiculous outfit. But then he remembered that it wasn't his place to judge people by their clothes, considering that his everyday clothes were a torn blue jumper with Joja's logo on it, pizza-stained shorts, and ragged crocs. After Emily's clothing therapy, Shane will have a little change of heart. But in general, he doesn't give a shit what Farmer wears, even if it's a trash bag.

"Hey, you look great." Believe me, Farmer, Leah's words are genuine. This woman is always used to being honest with people, and she will honestly praise her friend's appearance. Because a lot of people express themselves in different ways. Leah chose to express herself through creativity, while Farmer chose to express himself through clothes, and that's totally cool.

Harvey marvelled at the fact that Farmer walks around in these clothes and is completely unafraid of criticism..... No, no, don't get him wrong, Farmer looks good! It's just... In a way, Harvey is jealous, because he has to sneak around to aerobics in fear that some of the other bachelors will see him and make fun of him. But you know, just seeing Farmer has inspired the doctor to be braver.

Although in Maru's situation it was not about clothes, she too had to deal with this type of conflicts. Her grandparents told her mom, Robin, that her job as a carpenter was "not for women", while her father's relatives condemned Maru's passion for inventions as "not for young lady". How nice that Maru's parents were supportive and that Farmer has also defied criticism and is doing what makes him happy. Don't listen to anyone and do what your heart desire!

Quite extravagant, but Elliott even likes his style. Farmer definitely has the taste to pick colours and accessories harmoniously. What? Judging? Pfft! Dear friend, when Elliott lived in town before moving to Stardew Valley, the people there also tried to ridicule his clothing choices, calling him a dandy and, pardon his language, a "pompous peacock." Ugh, some people just have no taste! But at least Elliott has excellent clothing taste. And Farmer has it as well!

Stardew Valley Random Shane Headcanons

Since I’m incapable of thinking of any other bachelor in the game, here are some random headcanons for our best chimcken boi

-slight nsfw at the bottom- -MINORS DNI-

-Shane broke his nose on multiple occasions. Gridball field, college party or bar fight, you name it. Therefore, he has a big bump on his nose. But it suits him and who is he to care too much about his looks.

-Him and Emily briefly dated in college but broke it off fast as they realised they just care about each other platonically and not romantically, not to mention sexually. They remained friends though as it ended on good terms and are best buds still, almost 10 years after they’ve met. Now Emily is more a sister to him than anything else.

-this man LOVES affection, but he won’t admit it for the life of him, at least not right away. Banter, gifts, hugs, cuddles, CUDDLES, he is in for it. Even when you just met and he tells you to fuck off, deep down he hopes and aches for a decent soul in this god-forsaken town that he reluctantly calls a home, but his inner critic tells him to get wary and keep his guard up. It takes a lot of persistence and time till he finally decides to ignore his fears and let someone into his life, let alone admit that he likes someone’s company.

-speaking of hugs, he gives the best god-damn hugs for someone who pretends to hate physical affection. Hands down no one can do it better. Especially if you’re shorter than him (which can be a challenge since he’s a certified short king), he loves to drown you in them, quite literally.

-he’s quite the connoisseur when it comes to extraordinary food combinations, especially when it’s spicy. He usually eats his same microwaveable meals out of laziness, but he won’t say no to visiting new restaurants or trying new recipes with you. Sometimes the combinations he comes up with are quite frankly abominable, but he enjoys it, and he can take your criticism by calling you “uncultured” in return.

-should have been up there with the hugs one, but he is a soft boi. He has let himself go quite a bit since his gridball days, but his muscles restore fairly quickly once he does anything remotely physically challenging. So in other words, he has some bigger muscles still (especially from stocking shelves all day), but they are covered in a generous layer of pudge. He’s build like a mini fridge with cushioning, and it’s perfect.

-huge metal head. He also loves punk and post punk music.

-on that note: he was a huge subculture fanatic in his youth but kept it under wraps as he feared to become an outcast in his jock circle of friends. He never gotten the chance to express himself the way he wanted to till Emily’s clothing therapy session.

-He rarely speaks about his special interests, and he has quite some next to chickens. Once you get to a comfortable closeness with him, he will babble on about his favourite things once they are brought up and shyly smile to himself as he explains to you why he loves them.

-this man FUCKED back in the day. Even before the incident with Jas’ parents, he always struggled with his mental health and self esteem, so getting wasted at college parties and taking home random women was no rare occurrence. He would do that till he moved to The Valley and had to take care of Jas. Abstaining from it was a necessary evil at first, but receiving endless love and admiration from that child made him realise that none of his flings amounted to the joy he feels when Jas laughs at one of his dorky uncle antics or when she tells him that she loves him before drifting off to sleep.

-He’s bi…yeah that’s basically canon but he only ever acted on it once when he secretly visited a punk concert. It was a pretty man with long hair who told him that he’s very cute. That night threw him in a confused bi crisis and he never felt anything like that for a man again, at least till he met your farmer if they happen to be male.

younger shane headcanons TW: mentions of abuse and self-harm. enjoy :)

he's an only child. his family situation was bad: neglectful mother and abusive father. id like to think of him as a pretty quiet child, but would have outbursts during grade school and struggled to make friends.

his family was poor and this was a major insecurity of his.

stole his father's alcohol and cigarettes' and would drink at 14 yrs old for the first time.

would spend summer breaks with marnie occasionally. marnie's ranch was a much healthier, safer and calmer environment. i like to think that shane see's marnie more of a mother figure than his actual mother. he looks back fondly on these summers.

because of the clothing therapy heart event i see shane getting into alternative music and being interested in the culture around his pre-teen/teenage years. despite and interest in the fashion he never really dressed that way. he did resonate a lot with the music though and probably has an old collection of cds from that age.

he would meet jas' father in highschool and they were quick friends. they were both on the gridball team and his new friend was always there for him when others weren't. even though shane's home situation did not change at this time, this new friendship and support helped him out emotionally.

shane has always been a more quiet, introverted and socially anxious person. since becoming friends with jas' father, he went out more and met new people, though he always kept his friend group small. he wasn't very popular, but people didn't have many negative opinions on him and he was tolerated among his peers.

shane's drinking habits would worsen a little in highschool when he would sometimes show to school tipsy. he did poorly in his classes. he started to take school more seriously when he learned he could be kicked off the gridball team with poor grades + drinking.

he didn't see much of a point of going to college after highschool, but would try it for a few months before dropping out. i'd like to think if he were to go back to school he would study film.

speaking of film i always loved the idea that shane would record short films, or just filmed random shots and places as a teenger/young adult. he has a lot of old recording of him and jas' father acting out random skits, footage of them hanging out or footage of his hometown. he still has all these recordings and struggles to sit through them now.

in school he went to dances with girls, but he was never in a relationship. he's shared kisses, had sex, but never dated. he entered his first relationship in his early 20s.

he tried to spend as much time out of his house as possible and would go on walks after school with jas' father. when they finally got driving licenses they would go on night drives regularly. they were always fun, gave him some adventure, and was also the time when he could express and talk about his emotions. these are fond memories that he thinks about often in memory of his friend.

in highscool, the summers he did not spend with marnie, he worked part time jobs. his favorite was a pizza parlor in his area. free pizza for breaks hehe.

shane experiences panic attacks and they started in middle/highschool. he started to cut and burn himself in his teenage years. he made great effort to hide the scars. during this time his self-harm wasn't very frequent, but it got worse after the death of his friend.

he never owned pets though he secretly wished he did. any stray animals around his neighborhood would get an occasional treat and some water from him if he had any on hand. he cares deeply for animals, dare i say he enjoys their company more than other peoples'.

was kicked out of home at 19 and he went to live with jas' father. they were roommates for years and shane moved to zuzu city with him. they both struggled a lot in the city financially, and shane job hopped a lot. despite those hardships shane considers the years living with his friend his happiest.

since his clothing therapy outfit is really cool and he looks like a metalhead, but his everyday clothes are big shorts and a big hoodie, i headcanon shane as a big numetal fan.

like i bet he would listen to a bunch of korn and slipknot and linkin park and stuff, and he would wear baggy adidas stuff about it

i mean the lyrics of those songs totally fit his personality to be fair
