Rain drips onto the hood of your coat. Bobbing you’re head up and down, you hum the familiar melody under your breath, your eyes wander around the desolate city. While, not friendly in the slightest, it was lively in the worst possible way. Puppet’s roaming about and a few unhappy denizens hunting your companion P.

Even in rather somber circumstances, you tried to keep morale up the best you could..

 Kicking a stray can, your shoes lightly tap to the song in your head.

Eyeing a clump of rubble with a light post awkwardly sticking out, you grin, climbing atop of it rocks. Hands wrapped around the metal pole as you try to twirl around it, You gaze down at P as he tilts his head at you.

Perplexed, P watches you swing your weapon in merriment. “I’m happy again~..” You hummed the tune. 

Noticing his gaze, you drop down, using your free hand. You intertwine it with his, showing him how to twirl you. Fits of giggles leaving you as P tries to follow your movements. Allowing you to twirl him as well, Gemini softly chirps.

“Woah! Nice moves bud!”

You gently hear the soft sounds of gears shifting as P tries to gesture to your throat. “Hm? What’s up?”

He gently points to the sky, then to your throat. You snorted quietly at the subtle sass, but were a bit… Confused?

“Hm?”

You point your throat as nods, raising a brow. You try to question him further, but it seems as that the jovial atmosphere had turned sour as the sound of a Parade Master came trotting near.

“Damn it…”

The two of you manage to escape from the big puppet, through a series of you dragging P to run instead of continuing to fight  the huge thing! You just weren’t in the mood for a bruised rib cage and being thrown into a building anymore.

“CLOSETHEDOOR-CLOSETHEDOOR-CLOSETHEFLIPPING-DOOR-!!”

Winded, you watch from the gate as the Parade Master lumbers away from the hotel. You sigh in relief as P places a hand on your arm. Trying to drag you back with him to go get the big murdery puppet. 

“WHAT-!? No! P you just got busted up like a living pinata! We’re not in any condition to go after him right now!”

“They’re right pal! You took some serious damage while we were out there!”

“Go see Eugénie, I’ll be by… Laying on his couch.” Flopping down to the soft old cushions, you groan tiredly as P eyes you worriedly Before heeding your advice and heading straight to Hotels Krats workshop.

P arrives back to the foyer, a few hours later. Seeing you up and about as you carry items to a small table. A strange heavy object was placed a few feet away from him. “Whatcha’ got there?” Gemini asks as P nods.

“A myelogram! Polendina found it in some storage and Antonia said I could play it! Oh! Also… Records!”

P leans down towards the stack of “records” picking up the first one. The cover, dusty and fading colors. You eye it like it was a lost treasure. In some way, it was.

“Oh~ Hm, hey lets try it?” You nudge P’s shoulder gently. The puppet nods, watching you blow on the dusty record. Carefully lifting the needle on it as it slowly spins. You blink, surprise you didn’t to crank it or something. Krat really was ahead with there mechanical marvels! 

Sorta..?

The record plays an intriguing tone as the violin and the soft sounds of a clarinet play in the background as the singer sings along.

P holds out his legion arm for you to take, his other hand resting behind his back as he does a low bow. Surprised at the actions, you don’t hesitate to take his hand as he raises his eyes to meet your own. A soft willowy blue enrapturing your attention, while you can or can’t say you know how to waltz. You doubted that P knew either…

Regardless, you let him lead, trying to match his stiff rhythm.

Glancing away, you look at your steps, then back to P’s. Doing the best you could mange without stepping on his toes. Deciding to be a bit bold, you take small lead. A messy tango as P follows without complaints. You grin at him as he regains control of the dance.

Bodies coming closer, P twirls you. Slowly dipping you backwards as you watch the record spin along with the needle.

Taking this feeling carefully, you cradle it close to your heart. Hoping that it will never fade, you let yourself linger in this moment. The song finishes out as you are pulled back into P’s arms once more. Squeals fall from your lips, giddily jumping as the males gears click erratically. Releasing him, you grin, grabbing his face as you pepper his face with butterfly kisses.

“P! That was amazing! I didn’t know you could dance? Who taught you? Maybe you can give me a few pointers??”

You ramble as P tries to make sense of the early sensation that rained upon his face. The soft feeling of your lips on his “skin” was odd. Yet he was eager for more as he tries to regain your focus on him than your words. Waiting politely for you as his arms keep you wrapped around him.

Note to self …. When you leave for the day (and drive 250 miles away) remember to CLOSE THE DOOR so the cats don’t have the run of the whole hillside. Luckily, all are fine, they were (mostly) good kitties and came right back in. Wouldn’t be such a stress if we hadn’t passed a coyote and a skunk coming up the hill.
