Windows are important symbols in paintings, often marking boundaries or psychic portals between the known/unknown, life/death, conscious/unconscious etc. Open windows symbolize the breaking down of the boundary, while closed windows establish and maintain a boundary as we see here. Outside, the woods are cold and bare; but inside the fruit suggests fertility and the comfort of home (and are those pears the offspring of the tree in the window?)

Yet the shadow of the window is suggestive of a sundial and temporality, a reminder that we cannot forestall the outside world forever.

something obvious that i only figured out a year or two ago

story behind this audio: i was on the tf2 wiki, clicking random page, as one does on a wiki, when i landed on the item called "texas half-pants." this item has a voice line at the top of its wiki page. there is a link that says "click to listen" to this audio clip, which i assumed would bring up an audio player or at least take me to a separate page to listen to the audio in my browser. instead, it automatically downloaded the sound clip to my computer. i was laughing at this, saying, "this is on my computer now, great," and i clicked on the file to open it, thinking it would play it in whatever media player i had set as default. it did play…but apparently my default music player was set to itunes. so it opened itunes, added the clip to my itunes library, played the clip, and THEN started playing the next song in the queue, which was coconut mall from mario kart wii. so this is what i experienced just now.

I cannot express enough that if your reaction, as a hobby artist, to not getting that many notes on your art is to say "maybe I should just stop doing art altogether" you need to stop posting art to tumblr

not necessarily forever, not even for long, but just stop putting your art on here and start doing it for you again, remember why you enjoyed doing art in the first place and stop relying on the attention of faceless people on the internet for your enjoyment of your hard work

believe me, I get it, nothing crushes the artistic soul quite like labouring for hours on a piece only for it to get like 10 notes, so you need to find your own source of joy in the act of creation and a lot of the time that means making art and not showing it to anybody

Could you tell us a little more about Kraven the Huntress (and if she and Spidey have hooked up cough cough)

Sergine Nikolaeovna Kravinoff- AKA Kraven the Huntress.

She's from Peter's OG world and came to New York to hunt the elusive Spider-Man. They have been tussling for quite some time, with neither of them ever definitively coming out on top. (cough)

They're both hunters, but Spidey rarely has anyone chase him, and every time he knows Kraven is in town, his brain cells go into power-saving mode lol. Kraven is good at pushing him to the limits, and he loves being the prey and then turning the tables on Kraven when the time is right.

And Kraven does try to kill Spider-Man, but she also knows that if she does, the great hunt will come to an end. So it's alright if she lets Spider-Man have the advantage...once in a while. After all, her kill is inevitable, and why not have fun with such willing prey?

Nearly all their fights end with them wrestling for dominance, which usually ends with them hooking up. But the fight doesn't stop there either, and both are usually heavily bruised and bloodied after everything is said and done.
