Look, I get it's called Star Wars, but can someone in this galaxy have a happy life? Can just one of my favorites just have a good time? I promise, I am sad enough for them, let them live!!

His son’s presence in the Force bloomed warm and strong. Anakin reveled in that as Luke sprinted to his side.
“Piett?” Anakin asked curtly, not having breath for more detail.
“Safe with your old army buddies,” Luke replied. “We’re going to have some explaining to do.”
Anakin was darkly amused at the description of the clones as ‘army buddies’. He was fully aware that Fox would turn his blaster on Anakin at any given moment. Hells, it was possible that Cody would beat him to it.
“We should split up,” Anakin panted. “Come at him from two directions…”
“He already knows we’re both here,” Luke shot back. “I’m not leaving you.”
The loyalty which Anakin didn’t deserve was like strong wine in the Force.
“Besides,” the boy continued, “Didn’t you say that—-”
<Dark One,> announced the Lady in his mind. <I have arrived.>

Pride Month Aspec Headcanons Day 6
Kix - The Clone Wars (2008) - Aspec
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Admittedly, I have written quite a few fanfics with Kix at the center of them. no i will not be linking my ao3 on this post this blog is separate for personal reasons No matter how many times I write him, he just screams aspec to me. Particularly in the way that he just doesn't care for romance or sex and doesn't ever bother with them or trying to figure out if he falls anywhere on any sort of spectrum.
Along those lines, if he ever did feel any sort of attraction to anyone, he just brushes it aside. He's like "ah, okay" and just continues about his day. Nobody ever questions him about it and he goes about his life doin' his own thing. He's living his best life (in regards to that... let's not get into the tragedy of his story right now, I do that enough in fics lol)
Are there more specific terms to define him? Yeah, probably. He just tells everyone "I'm fine as is" if the topic ever does actually arise and that's good enough for everyone

The Red Dress
Summary: They may have your attention, but it's his fingers inside you under the table.
Pairing: Fives x reader
Warnings: NSFW, 18+, fingering, public sex, exhibitionism, drinking, alcohol, Fives being cocky, confession of feelings, just a little jealousy
A/N: I've never written for Fives before so please bear with me. Welcoming myself back from my break with a bang, pun intended. I am also utilizing medic!reader once more just because I can.
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
The first time he sees you in that dress, he knows he’s screwed.
He has Kix to thank for everything. He had been the one to convince you to come out with them in the first place. You, the 501st’s new medic, who had quickly won the hearts of the entire legion with your gentle touches and soft reassurances. You who asked their names and remembered them. You with that infectious smile, and the soft laugh that rang out at even the lamest jokes.
They had all mutually agreed they would start a war for you.
Fives was no less enamored with you than his brothers. You laughed at his jokes, and got shy when he lightly teased and flirted. He had once asked you to kiss his freshly bandaged wound, entirely joking, but he’ll never forget how you raised his arm to press a soft kiss to the bandage.
His stomach still flips thinking about it.
He hadn’t been expecting you to join them on shore leave. They were headed to 79s as usual, waiting on a few stragglers, including Kix. He hadn’t been expecting you to be following the medic down the ramp, but as soon as he sees you, he forgets all his impatience.
His eyes widen, jaw going slack as you slowly make your way down the ramp. The others notice, turning to see just what’s caught his attention.
The dress is a little satin number that hugs every curve and slope of your body perfectly. The thin straps and sloping neckline reveal more skin than he’s ever seen before, the hem falling halfway down your thighs.
It’s also red.
A deep, sinful red that Fives already knows is going to draw the gaze of everyone in the bar. His hands tighten into fists, his pants tightening just a bit as well.
“I didn’t think you’d mind if I invited our favorite medic along.” Kix says, drawing his attention, and everyone else’s.
“No.” Hardcase says, the vision of you in the dress having silenced even him. “Not at all.”
Fives resists the urge to punch Hardcase as he slips an arm around your shoulders, guiding you to the transport.
This is going to be a long night.
***
Fives had been right in his prediction that you would gain the attention of the entire bar. He was quick to notice just how much you shied from the attention, but he knew he and his brothers were not going to share.
They squish you into the center of the booth, silently glaring away any trooper, shiny or not, that even glances your way. You seem happily unaware of it as you sit between Jesse and Tup. They’re laying it on thick, Jesse’s arm stretched across the back of the booth behind you.
Fives’ hand tightens around his glass as Jesse leans in, saying something quietly to you. You get that bashful look on your face again, fingers trailing through the condensation on your glass. You’ve barely finished one glass of the cheap beer the bar provided to the clones.
Fives gets his moment when Tup excuses himself from the table for a bathroom break and Jesse is sent to the bar for the next round. He quickly shuffles into the booth next to you, so close you’re almost touching. You turn to look at him, eyes shining in the dim light above the table.
“You alright?” He asks, leaning in a bit so you can hear him over the music. “Are they making you uncomfortable?”
You shake your head. “No, they’re sweet, I’ve just...had my gaze on someone else for a while.”
He tilts his head as he stares down at you. “Anyone I know?”
“Well, he’s a clone.” You say, giving him a cute little smile.
“Right. That narrows it down.” Fives nods.
“He’s an ARC trooper.” You continue.
“Narrows it down more.” Fives says, leaning his arm on the table so he can lean in closer.
“He’s funny and smart and one of the bravest men I’ve ever met.” You stare up into his eyes, searching for something. “He has the sweetest brown eyes, and a cute little wrinkle between his brows when he frowns.” Your gaze drops to his lips. “He has a goatee, and a tattoo, and quite the unique nickname.”
Fives smirks, slipping his arm across the back of the booth behind you. His fingers trail along the bare skin of your shoulders, just as soft as he imagined. He leans in closer, watching the goosebumps form on your skin as he leans into your ear. You smell good, the best thing he’s ever smelled. His nose presses into your hair, smelling your sweet scent as his lips brush your ear.
“I need to hear you say it.” He whispers, fingers tracing patterns across the back of your neck and shoulders.
You turn your head just slightly, hand dropping to his thigh. “You.” You say it just audible above the thump of the music playing. “It’s you.”
Fives smirks, pulling back a bit as Jesse returns to the table. Despite the goosebumps on your skin, it’s warm to the touch, Fives brushing your cheek gently as he pulls his arm away. He’s pressed right up against you, his hand slipping under the table to rest against your knee.
“Tell me to stop.” He says quietly, Jesse taking his spot next to you once more.
You give him a look that speaks a thousand words, a look he didn’t think you were capable of. He’s glad the table hides everything as his pants suddenly get very tight. You turn your attention to Jesse as he starts speaking to you, Fives getting a refill on his glass and yours as Rex passes around the new pitcher.
His hand slowly begins to slip higher up your leg, fingers tracing the soft skin. Your legs widen just slightly for his hand, speaking volumes as you continue to entertain Jesse’s story.
He bites back a groan as he finds the damp fabric between your legs. It’s a bit much to call them underwear, a lacy little number he wants to slip into a pocket later. He rubs you over your panties, your hips shifting just slightly. You disguise it as you reach for your glass, taking another sip of beer.
He watches the way your hand tightens just slightly around the glass as he pushes the fabric to the side, trailing his fingers along your pussy. He joins in on the conversation as he sinks a finger into your tight heat, your hips shifting just slightly again to give him room.
You’re good at hiding it, moving subtly with the conversation as he and Jesse go back and forth. If Jesse looked down, it wouldn’t be hard to figure out where his hand is, but thankfully he’s just a little too drunk to be aware of his surroundings.
You clench tightly around his finger as the rest of the table joins into the conversation, recounting a story of some mission they’d gone on months ago, before you’d joined them. He can see your skin starting to get dewy with sweat, your breath picking up just slightly. You’re soaking his hand, a second finger slipping in easily.
He watches the column of your throat as you swallow another mouthful of beer, halfway through the glass already. Maker, he wishes he could remove his codpiece, pull you into his lap and make you sit on his cock. What he wouldn’t give to ease you under the table, have those sinful lips wrapped around him. Kriff, he’s one squeeze away from laying you out on the table and fucking you in front of his brothers and the entire bar.
He curls his fingers inside you, your lips parting as you squeeze around him, your legs shaking under the table. You set your glass back on the table just a little too hard, gaining the attention of the others.
“You alright, mesh’la?” Hardcase frowns at you in concern.
You nod, swallowing thickly. “Yeah.” Your voice is breathy, a bead of sweat sliding down the side of your face. “Just starting to feel it a bit.”
“I didn’t peg you as a lightweight.” Tup says, having returned to the table at some point.
You shrug, playing off the way your thighs squeeze around his hand. “Never really been much of a drinker before.”
“Well, we’re just out here corrupting you, aren’t we?” Kix smirks, his voice deep from the alcohol.
You’re close, your thighs squeezing around his hand as you press your hips against him. “That’s one way of putting it.” You laugh breathlessly.
Fives curls his fingers again, your face leaning in close to his ear. You let out a quiet little whimper that nearly has him cumming in his pants. Your breath fans against his skin, his hand slipping from your underwear. Oh how he’d love to taste you on his skin.
“Fresher.” You breathe, already sliding away from him. “Two minutes.”
He watches you slip out of the booth, a smirk tugging at his lips as he watches the others eyes follow your form until you disappear into the crowd.

Millions of clones descend on the Jedi Temple.
Palpatine: At last! My victory!
Millions of clones promptly relocate the entire Temple over to Separatist space.
Palpatine: Wait...what?
Order 66 AU where Palpatine made one (1) fatal mistake and that was putting the Jedi into the military to whittle them down before his big damn triumph. You know. Like canon. Except that friendship is magic and love overcomes all odds and the Jedi have been right down there in the trenches saving clones, sharing their joys and griefs, and dying for them, while what's Palpatine and the Senate done for them lately, hm?
Palpatine: Execute Order 66!
Cody: . . . Yes my lord.
Cody: Welp guess we're Separatists.
Obi-Wan: We're what.
Cody: I presume you'll be taking control of the droid armies now?
Obi-Wan: What.
Cody: Or is the plan for Generals Windu or Yoda to handle that?
Obi-Wan: ... what....
Cody: Gotta say, sir, you should've done this years ago. The infiltration plot didn't need to go this long.
Obi-Wan: Infil--?
Cody: At least the rest of the war should take about a week without having to answer to the Republic's politicians.
Obi-Wan: . . . Hello, Force? It's me, Obi-Wan. I have a few questions...

Screw's blog masterpost
Well, hello there. I'm Screw, designation CT-7045, of the 501st Legion. Torrent Company, specifically. My batchmates are troopers Tup and Dogma.
A few of my brothers have convinced me into creating this blog on the holonet. Fives said it would be good for me to interact with civvies? Don't know about that, but this seemed fun all the same.
Asks are open! I think! Whatever those are!
《Mun speaks: Hey hiya thanks for visiting! This is my clone oc screw and I decided to make a rp blog for him. But i'm inexperienced at this whole thing fyi (as evidenced by my lack of lots of content lol). main blog: @salubriousbean
If you don't want to scroll past long rp chains you can block the tag #tcw rp , I'm pretty sure I've tagged all of them and this masterpost lol with that tag
I'll add more to this masterpost as I think of things I promise. Q&A's and other info under the cut so y'all know what the kriff is going on:
/\ = signifies a POV change, like Screw's POV to a third person POV and vice versa (at least for this blog idk about other rp blogs)
《 》 = mun speaks (personal preference for these symbols I just like them, also just for this blog idk about other rp blogs)
questions n stuff (agh sorry about the capitalization, it's wack):
Are you open to rp with other blogs?
lol I don't even know why I included this question as I'm too chicken to tag anyone to rp with
but yes! I'd love to rp with you as long as it's appropriate. I will also only answer appropriate (ex. sfw) asks. disclaimer: responses may take a little longer as I've got a wack schedule but I'll do my best
Is this canon compliant?
if I'm being honest, not usually, but it depends on if I'm rp-ing with someone who is being canon compliant. This is kind of an au (considering that Tup and Dogma are the only ones left of their batch if my knowledge is correct, so Screw wouldn't exist. but he does here ahahahhaha). Also in this au I've decided that domino squad all survives and all become ARCs, huzzah! This is all sort of just bending canon lol
How did Screw get his name?
That's actually one of my wips, I'll link to it when it's finished (here's a snippet!) (btw it includes Fordo and Alpha-17, more not really canon compliant stuff (??) but who cares? not me!)
What does Screw look like?
Screw and Tup also came up with the teardrop tattoo idea and they're proud of it. I'm currently brainstorming tattoo ideas for him.
Tumblr media
This is him! I'm planning on coloring this too :)
Anyways he uses a DC-17 like his two batchmates. He originally was going to cut his hair shorter like Dogma's, but Tup convinced Screw to grow his hair out like with him. It's not quite as long as Tup's yet, but it's getting there. It's longer than regulation, so Tup and Screw can tie most of it up if they want, but not all of it yet.
He has a large scar across his face, from his forehead, across the bridge of his nose, and off his cheek. Another smaller scar cuts throigh his eyebrow. He got the scars in his squad's first posting, where they (Screw, Tup, and Dogma) lost the other members.
(The following is subject to change) Screw's helmet is painted to kind of match his scar, but symmetrical, it almost looks like a peace sign on the front. His armor is pretty random, he has two big four-pointed stars on his knee plates, an five-pointed star on one of his shoulders, and the other shoulder is solid blue. On the top of his chest plate is a cloud with five little bumps, on the back of the chest plate are two little wings cuz they're cute or something. On the back of one of his hand plates is Tup's teardrop, and on the other is Dogma's chevron. On one of his forearms are patterns from his other two squadmates' armor (the ones who are no longer with them), and other patterns from other clones who have made a difference in Screw's life. On the other of his forearms is Ahsoka's markings, and some other TBD markings. The rest of his armor is TBD
What's Screw's personality like?
He, uh, let's just say he's got a loose screw or two. Also I have taken large chunks of my personality and made it his personality too. So there's that.
Screw likes cool stories (they live in his head rent-free) and he was able to bond with Hardcase over explosions. Once he met Fives, he was a teensy bit less lax with rules, but Dogma gently reminds him here and there when needed.
The 501st is all convinced that Screw also had a leak in his growth jar, like Hardcase, 'cause how else could you explain all his randomness and occasional chaos? However, this leak thing has never been officially confirmed by the Kaminoans. But Kix said "Most likely." so it's basically confirmed. At least for the 501st.
Screw also has trouble going to bed/sleeping at normal hours. A lot of the times he's up late, with only Rex up too, doing reports and captain stuff. Screw would love to go spend time with his Captain but he's a bit (socially) anxious, like Tup, so he's too scared to ask. luckily, those late nights are perfect for blogging. Though Screw does have trouble waking up in the morning. Also sometimes he gets matching headaches with Tup, and less frequently, Dogma.
Screw loves his brothers, especially his two other batchers (platonically, no cloneshipping here). He's also fascinated with mando'a, he thinks the language is really cool and already mostly knows it. He's a slight nerd and will sometimes hyperfixate on various topics. He likes learning new words. Once he painted a mouse droid and named it Slayer. And named a mop Enrad. Screw is also besties with 99 (and Omega a bit) :>
Thanks for reading all this guys, I'm excited to develop my boy's character some more and have some fun with him!》

It's Not a Toy
For the @summer-of-bad-batch prompt "radiosilence"
Rated G
word count: 396
Warnings: clone jokes, like dad jokes
"Echo, what's your position? Over." Omega says into her new comm device. Her eyes are lit with pride and excitement.
"It's not a toy, Omega," Echo's gruff voice replies from behind her.
Her enthusiasm is only slightly diminished, and she smiles warmly up at him.
"Copy that," she replies.
Her own comm device is everything she's longed for. A real part of the squad! Omega won't even take it off to sleep.
***
Lying awake in the former gunner's nest, Omega suddenly has a burning question for her brother.
"Havoc 2, come in Havoc 2."
Tech is off duty, sleeping soundly when Omega's voice on his comm startles him awake, nearly hitting his head on the bunk above him. "Omega? What is wrong?"
"Tech, do you think there's dirt at the bottom of the Kaminoan oceans?"
"I... well, there is most likely sand, which is technically different than dirt but similar." Tech waits for a reply. "Omega?"
"I am going to sleep now, Tech. Havoc 5 out." Tech blinks several times in the dark.
***
"Havoc 3, what is your position?" Omega speaks into her comm, her voice urgent.
Wrecker is balancing two explosive devices, using his chin to hold them atop each other. He carefully removes his chin, using it to press the button on his wrist comm. "I'm here, kid. What do you need?"
"Wrecker. Make sure you bring me back a bag of Mantell mix. Havoc 5 out."
"Copy that, kid...er, Havoc 5." Wrecker smiles widely to himself.
***
"Come in Havoc 4, do you copy?" Omega and Wrecker are on guard duty.
"I copy, Omega." Echo is returning from a supply run.
Wrecker nudges Omega, giggling. "Don't screw it up," he whispers.
"Um...Havoc 4...what are clone trooper's muscles made out of?" Omega asks into her comm. She covers the device so Echo won't hear them laughing.
"Omega. Is that really so important that you couldn't wait to ask later? And, where is Tech? He would be able to tell you." Echo sounds exasperated.
"They're made of KAMINO ACIDS!" Omega bursts into loud laughter. Wrecker doubles over in a fit of giggling. Over her comm, they hear crackling and then silence.
"Havoc 4?"
"I told you, Omega. That comm device is not a toy. Havoc 4 out."
Omega turns large eyes up to Wrecker before leaning into him, laughing until her sides ache.

I also think Echo is the strategist of tbb. Like Hunter presents their plan, Tech verifies it, but it’s usually Echo’s plan. And they found this out the hard way when Echo came up with a batshit crazy plan, which they did not do, and then half way through had no choice but to switch to his too-crazy-to-work plan and came out nearly unscathed with a giggly Echo. Thats when they realized sanity did not run in the 501st. ESPECIALLY not the ARCs
As many TBB fans, we really missed out on Echo becoming a true member of Clone Force 99. Like yeah, the unresolved trauma, not to mention Fives, but we all known Echo is a little shit, and has been a little shit since his cadets days.
Let's explore this a little more.
Show me Echo finally getting to spar with someone, anyone, and just pulls a nasty move to win. You know, the kind of move that is downright dirty? We all know what i'm talking about. But show me TBB standing there in shock that this twig of a reg just took down someone twice his weight. He does not yet have all his muscle mass back yet! This was supposed to be a warm up for Echo. A way to build up his strength. Instead they get reminded that Echo is an ARC trooper and he has been through a lot.
Show me Echo trying to stop a cafeteria fight by reciting the reg manuals, saying "per regulation, fighting is not allowed in the cafeteria, and if you would have taken the time to read the reg manuals, you would have known that. Can you even read?" and Hunter furiously trying to deescalate the situation and failing. Echo gets sucker punched but the other clone does not get off as easily. Apparently he had to spend the night in the med bay. Echo only feels a little bit guilty.
Show me Echo matching Crosshair's snarkiness with his own. Remember "Bravo for Bravo Squad"? But instead of being angry with each other, it starts a beautiful friendship between the ARC and Snark troopers. The rest of TBB don't get how there friendship works and just have to roll with it.
But overall, let's not forget that ARC training happens on Kamino. Show me Echo being called up by the ARC trainer for demonstration purposes. Afterall, it's not everyday a war hero gets to help train new ARCs (except for Alpha-17, perhaps). Show me a bunch of new ARC recruits looking in astonishment because "holy Prime, that's ARC Echo of the 501st! He withstood the worst torture imaginable! He basically made half the 501st tactics with The Captain Rex of the 501st!" only for Echo to just crush there poor little preconceptions. Because this little shit keeps it real with these recruits, explaining the reality of going on a mission with a zero success rate, of going through torture, of having to build up physical strength to the point that no cyber implants hurt anymore. Echo does not hold back and has no filter, his words are practically as blunt as the dullest blade and it can hurt just as much. But even through that, no recruit can beat him in a spar. Yet. It's become a new challenge within ARC training.
Of course, I am a sucker for Mom Echo during season 1 and 2, but let me see Echo being a little shit before that! Let me see Hunter calling Cody one night after a successful mission asking "what is up with this reg? Are all ARC troopers like this?" And since Cody has known the little shits that make up the Domino Twins he just solemnly nods his head while sniggering on the inside. He calls Rex afterwards. Rex just laughs.

Offtopic Offseason #4 - Clone Wars Rewatch Thoughts: Part II.
So, the Clone Wars rewatch.
I'm about halfway through season five now and God the show got an amazing glow-up in the later seasons.
The timeskip in the middle of season three is a big one but I didn't realize that it was actually somewhat staggered - Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka get their redesigns in S3E10, but the Clone Troopers don't go to the Phase II armor until season four. We also don't really see many clones in the Mon Calamari episodes or on Naboo, so the Phase II armor doesn't really get focus until the Umbara arc.
From that point onwards season four is amazing. Season four is my favorite of the original run and overall, it's up there with season seven - and that's high praise considering the Siege of Mandalore arc in the series finale is some of my favorite Star Wars content period, not just in Clone Wars, but in general.
It's got Maul, it's got Mandalore, it's got Ahsoka, and it ties directly into Revenge of the Sith. What more could you want?
In fact, just before writing this I saw a clip on twitter of the moment Rex gets Order 66 and the RotS music kicks in and it's just...chef's kiss.
The animation is beautiful, the characters are fully fleshed out and realized at this point, and we get to experience the high drama of Revenge of the Sith from their perspective. It's wonderful.
Tying into Revenge of the Sith, there's also the main thing I wanted to talk about today: the Clone Wars saves Anakin's character.
Already from Attack of the Clones we see a dark, brooding Anakin that's chaffing against Obi-Wan's teachings, that can't control himself around Padme, and the darkness in him is obvious. Sure, the Jedi didn't know exactly what Anakin did to the Tusken Raiders, but we literally see Yoda and Mace Windu feeling the ripples in the Force and instantly knowing it was Anakin.
Then, after that, Anakin tries to derail the hunt for Dooku on Geonosis because of Padme, and Obi-Wan has to literally scream at him to keep him on mission. Obi-Wan literally yells "You'll be expelled from the Jedi Order!" but then we never see the Jedi follow up on this. Sure, Episode III implies that Obi-Wan knew about it and kept quiet, but we never really see a justification as to why.
Episode III tries to make up for this by showing some friendly banter between Obi-Wan and Anakin, particularly while they're rescuing the Chancellor, but it doesn't really land - especially not since we see Anakin get angry at the Council to their faces after the whole master thing. Not to mention his connections to Palpatine, him killing Dooku, and the fact that he's clearly troubled during his meditations with Yoda.
In short, the Anakin we see in the movies is clearly troubled, clearly going down a dark path, and nobody seems to give a shit about it. They just let this problem keep steamrolling until it's at the Jedi Temple committing Order 66.
Now, this is not a ridicule against Hayden Christensen, because he's doing what he's told to do. In fact, I'd say that Hayden Christensen plays Anakin's dark moments better than Matt Lanter does in Clone Wars.
What Matt Lanter does, however, is show Anakin's redeeming characteristics.
Clone Wars has the time to go out and show that Anakin has a charming side, a funny side, that he cares about his friends, and that he's an immense asset for the Republic war effort. We see enough moments between Anakin and Obi-Wan that it becomes clear why his master would give him the benefit of the doubt, and there are even a few reasons why Yoda and Mace Windu would give him a bit of a leash.
And, as many people have pointed out before, the whole drama with how Ahsoka left the Jedi Order just as she was about to become a Knight means that Anakin did fully train a Padawan. He did all the work to be considered a Master, but because of the Council's actions during the Sabotage arc, he's screwed out of the rank. This means it is an outrage, it is unfair.
Anakin's not being a petulant child, he's getting cheated out of a rank because the Council doesn't trust him.
There's also the fact that a lot of Anakin's dark moments in Clone Wars, particularly early on, are because he's trying to save his friends. He Force Chokes Poggle the Lesser to save Ahsoka from the brain worms, he strikes first and brands himself a cold-blooded killer because Tal Merrik is threatening to blow up the ship, and in the Mortis arc, Anakin turns to the Dark Side now in a misguided attempt to stop the greater evil of him becoming Darth Vader.
The show establishes early on with the Lair of Grievous episode that the war is driving the Jedi closer and closer to the Dark Side, and that includes Anakin. The war gives him convenient excuses for going for the dark option over and over again.
Then we get the Zygerrian slavers arc and the Obi-Wan undercover arc back to back.
We see Obi-Wan and Ahsoka get uncomfortable with Anakin's actions during the slavers arc, but he's given the benefit of the doubt because one: Obi-Wan knows his freudian excuse, and two: the slavers are objectively terrible.
Then just after Anakin gets dragged through that stressful situation, he's thrown into another one as the Council fakes Obi-Wan's death and sends him undercover, all without telling Anakin. When he does find out, Obi-Wan fails to address Anakin's real concerns. This sets up for Episode III perfectly because it erodes Anakin's trust in the Council, makes Obi-Wan part of that mistrust, and drives Anakin closer to Palpatine.
Palpatine, who is clearly taking an interest in Anakin's duel with Count Dooku.
Stuff like this gives Anakin a slower, more believable fall to the Dark Side.
Now consider the fact that the Clovis episodes of season six were originally meant to be early in season five before getting temporarily canned. This means that not long after Zygerria and the undercover plot, we'd get an arc focusing on Anakin's increasingly toxic and possessive side with Padme.
Hitting the dark notes one by one...and then the Sabotage arc serves to take Anakin's Padawan away.
He's losing his trust in Obi-Wan, he doesn't trust the Council at all after they were ready to blame the bombing on Ahsoka, and his relationship with Padme is taking an unhealthy turn - and on top of all that, Anakin just lost a positive influence in his life. Ahsoka isn't there to keep him responsible and to provide a check on his actions.
Anakin's alone, but Palpatine's there, whispering the Dark Side into his ears.
Then, as we go into the events of Episode III, a returning Ahsoka is sent to Mandalore to fight Maul along with Rex, while Obi-Wan is sent to Utapau to finish off Grievous. Once again, Anakin's positive influences are kept away while Anakin is stuck on Coruscant. The Council wants him to spy on Palpatine, he doesn't want to, and he immediately blows the scheme to Palpatine.
That's when Palpatine makes his move.
Anakin pushes away for a moment and goes to Mace, but Mace tells him to stay at the temple.
Anakin can't, he goes there, and he cuts Windu's arm off - the point of no return.
Clone Wars is there to recontextualize Anakin's actions, flesh them out a bit more, and make his fall to the Dark Side more believable. That's the biggest service it does to any character in the franchise, and it makes Star Wars as a whole stronger.
So yeah, the show is good.
I think I covered most of the stuff that happens later on in the show in this one, but I'm still watching so maybe I'll do a part three next week if something stands out. That being said, the Rolex 24 is this weekend and that means the offseason is coming to an end, so perhaps it's about time for this blog to get motorsport-y again. We'll have to see though.
All I can promise is that next week, I'll write about whatever's on my mind. If that's Clone Wars, then it's Clone Wars, if it's race cars, then it's race cars, if it's some other third thing, then it's some other third thing.
So...tune in next week to find out!

Ok but here's something I think about.
So Echo's mind was forcefully hacked and the utilization of his mind resulted in countless vod deaths. But he is not to be blamed because he was forced to be used, a cog in the machine that turned whether he wanted it to or not.
I think about him being a narrative foil or some sort of parallel to Fox. And I know the argument is that the manipulations used on Echo were not consensual, but Fox followed orders and therefore acted upon his will; and yes I do agree he did do as he was told and his obedience resulted in Fives' death which leads down a rabbit hole of preventable trouble. But also in my mind whether it was through the use of the inhibitor chip, emotional/mental/physical/etc manipulations and abuse acted against the Corries, or it being Fox's indoctrination I still think he was a similar cog in the ever spinning war machine. Even if it wasn't the first two options and it was him acting on what he believed were justifiable orders, I still feel equally as bad for him. Because he was raised to be that way, programmed even to be that way. The Kaminoans and the war machine demanded an attack dog and he became it. Yes I get it, he could have chosen to act differently, but you're telling me the indoctrination and ever present enforcement of propaganda and dogmatic thinking isn't still abusive and corrupt? That in a world where troopers could be reconditioned for being disobedient and you were trained since you were the equivalent of a toddler that if you were told the world is laid out in black and white that you wouldn't believe it? Rex and Cody and Wolffe and Bly and Ponds all have generals who help enforce personhood and individuality in clones, they encourage the building of self identity and acknowledge individual uniqueness. You think the Corries get that? On a planet where it's all about politics and paperwork? If the GAR has to deal with indoctrination ideals - as shown by Dogma and his stringent obedience - then you don't think that shit is drip fed into Corrie blood streams?
I'm saying that while Fox killed vod, in what mind does he have to do contrary? Echo's mind was highjacked, and to me in a way the Corrie's were highjacked as well. Not the same, not with physical wires and screws and pods but through slow and methodical programs and placements. Echo's forced servitude can be seen physically on his person, but the same manipulations that had Fox pull the trigger on his gun which killed Fives is all internal. Even if it isn't a chip, even if it isn't out of fear, he never had a chance to go against when his entire life was built to serve and do this. The Chancelor says jump, Fox will always ask, how high?

👀👀👀 can I ask about the wing AU??
Yesss!! The Wing AU! Which is really just a long document with the various clones and Jedi/Sith what their wings would look like.
I'm going to post it as it is because the bullet point works, and this is the "baseline" part of the winged universe. I might have several stories stem from it, because... I just really love wings and I feel like I could go in several directions. So here it is!
Tumblr media
There are only two beings in the galaxy with wings: those who are Force-sensitive, and the clones engineered by the Kaminoans
The wings of a child will be drab until they molt in maturity, bringing in their true colors
Touching another person’s wings without permission is disrespectful and invasive, while trusting someone enough to allow them to preen their wings is a sign of trust and closeness
The clones were engineered with wings to keep up with the Jedi during the war, though this has brought its own controversy with senators questioning if engineering wings is a step too far in cloning technology, as wings are supposed to be sacred (but the Chancellor claims this is a sign they are on the side of righteousness, though in reality he wants the clone troopers to have wings to keep up with the Jedi when he orders their execution)
Yoda has grey wings, Dooku has elegant black wings, and Darth Sidious has no wings at all (he removed them at an early age to hide his affinity for the Force, and he almost abhors the idea of them), Maul’s wings are black with red tips, and Ventress has wings of white with black tips
Anakin has beautiful golden-brown wings, Obi-Wan has soft sandstone-colored wings, and Ahsoka has white wings with blue stripes
Cad Bane has wings of blue variation, light blue at the base and darker at the tips, though they are so ragged from being unpreened and kept in bindings against his back that they can only glide, not fly, until they are restored with care and practice (which is unlikely since he always keeps them hidden and no one knows he even has them)
Clones Wings:
Hunter has dark grey wings, the same color as his eyes, and the feathers are broader and longer than a typical clones’ (his brothers used to joke that his missing height went into his wingspan)
Crosshair has silvery white wings that match his hair, and they’re especially soft around the shoulders of the wings, almost downy, but if anyone tries to touch them, they’ll get pummeled for it. Not with his hands—Crosshair has learned how to “punch” with his wings with uncanny accuracy, and other troopers learned long ago to steer clear of them
Wrecker has reddish-brown wings that have golden highlights in the sun, though he had to have cybernetic feathers and muscles implanted into his left wing after the explosion that took his eye
Tech’s wings are golden-brown, and they are prone to being unkempt much like his living space, the clone too distracted with his work to care for them, and if it wasn’t for his brothers they would be nearly unusable (which would be a shame, because he flies like a mynock on fire)
Echo used to have grey speckled wings that complimented Fives’ grey and white wings, but once he was captured, the Separatists cut them off. After he was rescued, Rex and Cody made sure there were funds to build him advanced mechanical wings so he could fly again
Omega has golden-white wings, and the Batch had to teach her how to fly because the Kaminoans didn’t show her and probably never would have
Crosshair would be the one to preen Hunter’s wings after a battle, and Hunter would preen his (Crosshair would let Wrecker preen his wings but no matter how hard he tries, Crosshair’s too sensitive, and Hunter is the only one with a light enough touch to do it)
Tech doesn’t really care who preens his wings out of the Batch, just as long as they don’t screw up and pull out any feathers, and he’s more than happy to let Wrecker do it since the big clone loves preening his brother’s feathers
If a flyer goes through a traumatic event, their feathers will molt and grow back a different color: this is what happens to the clones after Order 66, they lose their individuality/feathers, and grow all white wings to match their bleached armor (Crosshair loses his silvery feathers and they grow back in a much darker shade, showing he’s not completely under their control and is suffering for it)
There are only a few Imperial clones that don’t grow plain white feathers, but instead, they grow in pure black. The ones with black wings are selected to be Death Troopers
Crosshair’s new wings are not technically black, they’re more of a dark grey, and coincidentally, the same shade as Hunter’s wings
For clones who start to fight their chips, or their chips start to fail, they gradually shed their feathers and start growing them back with color. Such as Howzer, who started to grow back his teal-tipped feathers, and he had to bleach his wings so his superiors wouldn’t find out
The new TK troopers are given mechanical wings, but they are far inferior to the natural wings that clones are engineered with, but mechanical wings are cheaper than biological ones, and the clone troopers that remain are taken to Tantiss for experimentation

Clone Trooper Rambles
Tumblr media
Part journaling exercise, part character study, part playing imaginary friends with clone troopers.
Warnings: Arguments, Fives giving off irritating little brother vibes, threats.

Commando
“Ahh, finally some representation!” Fi crowed, beaming at me.
Sev glanced over, frowning when he saw the shirt I was wearing. “What are you talking about, di’kut? That’s a white commando helmet. You and the rest of Omega wear that ridiculous black armor.”
“That armor has saved our shebs more times than we can count,” Niner told him.
“Yeah?” Scorch asked, eyes dancing. “How did it work out for you on that snow planet?”
“That isn’t the point,” Fi brushed off. “Point is, it’s clearly stylized. It’s supposed to be a negative image. Black armor on a white background.”
“Just like you on that snow planet,” Boss said casually.
“So you agree the picture on her shirt is of us.” Darman hadn’t even been in the room last time I checked, but he was suddenly there and sounding victorious.
I shook my head at the argument and kept working my way through the dirty dishes in the sink. And yet, my shoulders felt suddenly tight with tension when Fives walked in and made a disgusted noise in my direction.
“Ugh, a commando helmet?” he asked, not bothering to disguise his disdain. “Why? Got bored representing the better half of the GAR?”
“Better?” various commandos demanded.
“Half?” I repeated. That seemed like a severe overstatement from what I knew about the GAR.
“No offense,” Fives told everyone, giving his most offensive look around the room. “It’s just… well, you know. Commandos are bred that way. ARC troopers are the ones who distinguished themselves in battle. We earn our specialties.”
“You wouldn’t last a day as a commando,” Sev snapped.
Fives shrugged. “Yeah, I’ve heard you can die of boredom.”
Sev snarled and Boss didn’t look particularly motivated to hold him back from the now-smirking Fives.
Fixer stepped slightly in front of his squad-mate. It seemed like the only concession anyone was willing to offer. “Commandos get more training than any ARC. It’s different from the ground up. ARCs are standard troopers who happened to think fast enough not to be killed. Commandos are trained to think differently all of the time.”
“We’re Kamino’s most advanced group of troopers,” Atin expanded for Fives. “You’re basically a standard trooper with a skirt and a chip on your shoulder.”
“Skirt?” Fives demanded, finally sounding less than thrilled.
“Hey, a commando shirt,” Wrecker commented, coming inside from his most recent guard shift. He looked utterly bewildered by the way everyone turned on him, snarling. I gestured frantically for him to stop talking or just leave, but Wrecker was busy staring around the room and trying to figure out what had happened.
“You got something to add about commandos?” Scorch asked, his smile a bit too sharp for my comfort.
Interestingly, Wrecker and the rest of the Bad Batch were kind of commandos, I mused. They had certainly gotten less intense training than the earlier squads like Delta and Omega, but technically…
“Nope, nothin’ at all,” Wrecker demurred, holding his hands up as he walked out of the room.
Smart man.
“I’m just saying,” Fives started, “this argument is pretty even with just me representing the ARCs. That’s a pretty clear sign in my favor.”
“The only sign is that the ARC training program takes troopers who are a few screws short of a gunship,” Atin muttered loudly.
Stomping footsteps from the front door sounded their slow, ponderous way into the kitchen. I glanced over in time to watch Alpha-17 round the corner. He seemed to pick up on the tension in the air, staring around the room with displeasure written across his scarred face. “Whatever osik you’re all going on about, keep it to yourselves. I don’t have enough patience to pretend to care.”
The commandos dispersed, throwing dark looks and muttered complaints in Fives’ direction. For his part, Fives stood beaming at Alpha as he settled into a chair across the counter from where I was washing dishes.
“Fives, what are you staring at?” Alpha demanded. Without waiting for an answer, he added, “Kark off. I’m tired of looking at you.”
“Yes, sir, Captain,” Fives agreed immediately, rushing off.
Alpha and I sat in silence for a long moment before I lifted a brow at him. “It’s like you could smell the trouble.”
Alpha snorted, lifting his arm to show you the comlink attached to his vambrace. “Echo told me what was going on. Figured I’d put a stop to it before they got too wrapped up in themselves.”
“Ah.” I thought about that as I set a dish on the drying rack. “You may have been a few minutes too late for that.”
“Did anyone throw a punch?” he asked. When I shook my head, Alpha said, “Then I was on time. If it happens again, kick ‘em out of the house. I know you can do that. May as well use it now and then.”
“At least it was a good distraction from the dishes,” I said mournfully, looking at the stack I still had yet to clean.
Alpha gave me an exasperated look. “You have access to years of music and podcasts on that phone. That has to be more entertaining than trooper drama.”
“Depends on the drama,” I countered, grinning as Alpha rolled his eyes.

Author's Note - This was just a silly one as I worked on characterization for the different commando groups and how they would interact with the ARCs. But it makes me smile when I read it, so here you go!
