"Me? Speak for yourself, madame. I thought it was 'Escort madame to Lord Dragonne,' not 'Lead madame to his Lordship, watch madame kill his Lordship, then have myself shoved INTO A BLOODY CLOSET-"

Signora Alabeste jammed a black-gloved finger up to the lips of the slender framed knight beside her. "Not another word," she hissed, golden eyes darting about. "Your mewling's what's got us here in the first place." Gods above, her corset was getting ruined - was ruined, by this point. Why'd she ever think that a frilly red dress and long boots was good adventuring gear, she'd never know. All torn up, and muddied, and-

But that wasn't important right now. Keeping quiet, that was a bit higher of a priority.

The situation, the current, hazardous-to one's-health situation, was that Ser Menthe de Chauvert, and herself, were pressed up tightly against each other in a dressing room closet. This closet happened to be in the upper towers of an imposing grey castle, of which was situated in a beautiful kingdom. What had been beautiful, Signora Alabeste presumed, before the Contramemoria. She'd have liked to sing for the wealthy of Baron.

Ser Menthe, the tan lad done up in silver armor, looked something from a children's puppet show. His joints were all jumbled up, at the moment, and every time he moved to give himself some room (what room there was) the spurs on his fancy boots would jingle. Jingle jingle jingle. "Forgive my outburst, madame," he wheezed after brushing dripping wet hair from his face, "If madame would provide some godssdamned room, I could. I could find you safe passage away from this place, you could take the Lion's Mane for yourself, and, additionally, I never have to see your sodding face again."

Poor lad must be tired from struggling, the Signora thought. Of course, it wasn't her fault that he chanced to find her, dagger in hand, over the recently departed Lord Dragonne. Nor was it her fault that Lord Dragonne was dead in his bedchambers, bereft of his clothes and missing his prized memoriate crystal, the Lion's Mane. Ser Menthe was a blade hired by a man corrupted by the Light. He'd been told to bring Signora Maria Alabeste, songtress of the realms, to his Lordship's chambers. How was he to know he'd become an unknowing aide to the Mockingbird of Troia? It was only logical to shove him and herself into the bedroom closet, if only to keep the lad from bellowing out to his fellows.

Alabeste could hear the almost clockwork-like clinking of metal on metal beyond the doors of the closet. The dragoons and dark knights loyal to Baron and the castle would be on the move, if they weren't already, which meant that time was short. Menthe would need to be dealt with if he kept up that awful noise. Such a pity, that. The woman rather fancied him.

A sudden low rumble from the castle walls pushed Menthe up against the Signora. "Mada-" Whatever else the knight wished to utter was swallowed up by Madame Alabeste's generous chest.

Nothing was said until Alabeste could feel the hilt of Menthe's not-sword pushing up tight against her undergarments. Striking green eyes, his beautiful eyes, drifted up slowly up to match her own. Cold steel gloves ran across either side of her ample hips. I can work with this, she mused. "Getting excited, are we? It's natural, if you are. I am too." She pressed herself tight against her closet mate; that's what men liked, after all. A body tightly wound 'round their not-sword.

"Gods damn you, slut, you...you hellish whore. How dare you make me break my oath to, to." Menthe couldn't even finish his thought, dear thing. No, he was more focused on breaking the cords that held Alabeste's corset to her stomach. Fumbling fingers, sent on a mission to swive this daughter of a whore into the next existence. Punishment, judgement, lust, what did it matter, really, as long as that not-sword did its work and dug deep between the bitch's bottom whore lips, made her regret besmirching the knight's good graces and honor?

What happened next was of little consequence, to the Signora, at least. The Lion's Mane was hers to take back to the senior memoriates, after she'd had her evening of indulgence. The powers of loyal knights of old would be contorted and twisted into new, more horrifying forms, winged pawns of black armor to match those of the Memoriates of Light. The war would go on.

Stranger things have happened in times of war.
